“That lateral was crazy,” said Lancers lineman Sincere Williams, who rumbled and stumbled his way another 6 yards after Chris Kenesie pitched it to him. “I went behind him on purpose because I know that’s something we joke about, but I didn’t know he was actually gonna throw it.”

Said Kenesie: “When I was getting dragged down, I had time to process everything and I saw Sincere, and he’s always asking to run the ball, so now the coaches don’t have to worry about that.”

Shenanigans ensued at certain points of Kenosha St. Joseph’s 35-0 shutout of Cambria-Friesland on Friday night at Jaskwhich Stadium on the Indian Trail High School campus, but there was nothing funny about the game-breaking performance of Kenesie.

Chris Kenesie, much like his Division 1 hoops star mother, Jenny, and older brother Eric, a three-sport all-state star at St. Joseph, proved his mettle with a performance for the ages.

He ran for 222 yards on 27 carries, threw a 29-yard pass for a big play and capped the night with a 70-yard interception return for a score. He totaled four touchdowns.

He pounded up the middle to chew up clock, broke the initial tackle on just about every run, showed off his plus speed and vision and a 47-yard touchdown run and another 30-yard jaunt, and the Hilltoppers had no idea how to stop him.

“I mean, the team played great,” said Williams, who dominated the line of scrimmages with tackles for loss but also officially had the 6 yards rushing. “We had amazing team defense, and it was an all-around good win. Our scheme worked perfectly.”

The Lancers, who were unranked in the final wissports.net Division 7 state poll, have outscored opponents 116-0 in their last three games.

“We don’t feel snubbed by the season polls,” St. Joseph coach Matt Rizzo said. “We played arguably the toughest schedule in D7, and the other coaches in D7 didn’t vote for us the last several weeks. That’s OK. We are one of eight left in the state now. It doesn’t matter what the polls say during the season. It’s how you finish.”

St. Joseph junior quarterback Zach Rizzo hit Dominic Rinaldi with a perfect pass on an out route at the 5-yard line with 5:55 left in the third quarter for the only non-Kenesie score.

Cambria-Friesland, a team that averaged 300 yards rushing per game, gained 97 yards rushing and 19 yards passing in a performance where it would get a few first downs but couldn’t finish drives.

Rizzo was 7 of 13 for 86 yards passing. His leading receiver was Rinadli, who caught four balls for 34 yards.
