Just two weeks remain in the TSSAA high school football regular season, but teams are still making jumps in The Commercial Appeal’s team rankings.
Munford jumped up three spots after defeating the uber-talented Lausanne in a wire-to-wire thriller that’s a candidate for the game of the season. The Cougars have been perfect since falling in Week 1.

1. Collierville (8-0): The Dragons were clinical in their 45-7 victory over Cordova, staying perfect on the season and maintaining their hold on the top spot in the rankings. Last week: No. 1 This week: at Whitehaven.
2. Covington (8-0): Making up for the canceled game vs Fairley earlier in the season, Covington beat 4A power Haywood in convincing 41-20 fashion. As is customary, Skylan Smith and brother Jaheim were crucial, combining for 338 yards rushing. Last week: No. 2 This week: at Ripley.
3. Munford (8-1): Munford is for real, and so is freshman running back Tay Starks. The Cougars rushed for 450 yards in a back-and-forth, 46-43 shootout win over Lausanne, pushing their win streak to eight games. Last week: No. 6 This week: Off.
4. Southwind (7-1): The Jaguars cruised to a 41-0 victory vs Overton, making it four straight wins since falling to Munford in Week 4. Southwind is averaging scoring nearly 39 points per game, posting at least 35 points in five games this season. Last week: No. 3 This week: vs. Kirby.
5. Houston (6-2): Houston slides a spot after its bye week due to Munford’s ascension. Since losing two in a row in Weeks 5 and 6, the Mustangs have won two straight, with QB Chandler Day and wide receiver DJ Miller finding an impressive groove on offense. Last week: No. 4 This week: vs. White Station.
6. Whitehaven (6-2): Whitehaven returned off of its open week to stomp Craigmont 50-0, getting back in the win column after falling to Germantown its last time out. The Tigers control their destiny in 8-6A with a home date vs Collerville on Friday. Last week: No. 5 This week: vs. Collierville.

7. Lausanne (5-1): A game-winning field goal from Munford stifled Lausanne’s second-half comeback in the 46-43 loss. Lausanne’s offensive talent was on full display and few teams will have the offensive firepower to match as Munford did. Last week: No. 7 This week: at Northpoint.
8. Fairley (7-0): The Bulldogs continue to steamroll anyone put in front of them. Bluff City was the most recent opponent as Fairley won 72-8. Last week: No. 8 This week: vs. Memphis Overton.
9. Bartlett (4-3): Bartlett was off in Week 9. Their last time out, the Panthers kept their playoff hopes alive with a 19-0 win over Germantown. Last week: No. 9 This week: at Cordova.
10. MASE (6-1): MASE appears in the rankings for the second week in a row after a 50-0 victory over Oakhaven. The Phoenix have outscored opponents 104-0 over their last two games. Last week: No. 10 This week: vs. Manassas.
