  • What will happen to TikTok on Apple and Google’s app store on Sunday?

What will happen to TikTok on Apple and Google’s app store on Sunday?

With President-elect Donald Trump adding uncertainty around whether a TikTok ban will go into effect, the focus is now turning to companies like Google and Apple that are expected to take the popular video sharing app off their platforms in just two days.

Though the Supreme Court on Friday unanimously upheld a federal law that could ban TikTok nationwide, it’s unclear how a shutdown of the popular social media platform will play out and what Americans will see when the clock strikes midnight on Sunday.

The court decision comes against a backdrop of unusual political agitation by Trump, who vowed that he could negotiate a solution after he takes office, and the administration of President Joe Biden, which has signaled it won’t enforce the law beginning Sunday, his final full day in office. Now, tech observers — and some users — are intently watching to see what happens over the weekend and beyond.

“We’re really in uncharted territory here in terms of tech policy,” said Sarak Kreps, the director of Cornell University’s Tech Policy Institute.

Under the law, mobile app stores — like the ones operated by Apple and Google — and internet hosting services will face major fines if they continue to distribute the platform to U.S. users beyond the deadline for divestment from ByteDance, TikTok’s China-based parent company. The companies could pay up to $5,000 for each user who continues to access TikTok, meaning penalties could total to a large sum.

A lawyer representing TikTok told Supreme Court justices last week that the platform will “go dark” on Jan. 19 if the law isn’t struck down. But TikTok, which is not required to block its own platform under the statute, has not said whether it will limit access to the app, or its website, on Sunday. Experts have noted TikTok’s app should remain available for current users, but existing ones will no longer be able to update it, making it unusable in the long term.

Trump’s national security adviser has signaled this week that the incoming administration may take steps to “keep TikTok from going dark,” though what that looks like — and if any of those steps can withhold legal scrutiny — remains unclear.

“My decision on TikTok will be made in the not-too-distant future, but I must have time to review the situation,” Trump said Friday in a post on Truth Social after the court’s ruling. Earlier in the day, he said in another post that TikTok was among the topics in his conversation with Chinese leader Xi Jinping.

In the meantime, some of the attention has turned to tech companies, such as Apple, Google and Oracle, who currently offer TikTok on their app stores or host company data on their servers.

Tech CEOs have been attempting to forge friendlier ties with Trump, who wants to put the TikTok ban on hold, since he was elected in November. But Kreps said it would “defy credulity” for them to continue to offer TikTok, even if they want to please Trump, since it would open them up to punitive fines.

Tech companies are also used to removing apps at the behest of governments. In 2023, Apple says it removed nearly 1,500 apps globally. Nearly 1,300 of the apps were taken down in China.

“Penalties for companies like Apple and Google could run as high as $850 billion,” Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., wrote on X on Thursday, while referring to the U.S. TikTok law. “Not sure I’d take a politician’s word if I ran those companies.”

Meanwhile, David Choffnes, executive director of the Cybersecurity and Privacy Institute at Northeastern University in Boston, said he believes there’s a “small chance” that nothing happens to TikTok, but acknowledged that would require “enormous risk on the on the part of the companies that support them.”

Apple, Google and Oracle did not respond to questions sent this week about their plans on TikTok.

In a video after the court ruling, TikTok CEO Shou Chew, who is expected to attend Trump’s inauguration and be granted a prime seating location on the dais, thanked the president-elect for “his commitment to work” with TikTok to “find a solution” that keeps the platform available.

“We are grateful and pleased to have the support of a president who truly understands our platform — one who has used TikTok to express his own thoughts and perspectives, connecting with the world and generating more than 60 billion views of his content in the process,” Chew said.

Earlier this week, TikTok told its U.S. employees that its offices would remain open for work even if the “situation” won’t be resolved by Sunday. In the memo, which was first reported by The New York Times and confirmed by the company, TikTok told workers that their “employment, pay and benefits” were secure, adding that the law was written in a way that impacts the U.S. user experience, not the entities that employ them.

Meanwhile, in a letter sent Friday to Biden and Attorney General Merrick Garland, an attorney for TikTok creators who sued the government asked the administration to pause enforcement of the law “until there is further definitive guidance.”

“In addition, we request that you clarify that no app store, internet hosting service, or other provider faces any risk of enforcement or penalties with respect to TikTok, CapCut, or any other ByteDance apps, until such further guidance has been issued,” said the letter by attorney Jeffrey Fisher.

  • Apple Cider Vinegar Vs. Lemon: Which One Is Better for Digestive Health?

Apple Cider Vinegar Vs. Lemon: Which One Is Better for Digestive Health?

Let’s agree—mornings set the tone for the rest of the day. With the right foods, we can make them even better. Many of us rely on certain foods and drinks to boost our digestive health. From detox water to herbal teas, the options are endless. Among these popular choices are lemon and apple cider vinegar—both renowned for their digestive benefits. But what are the key differences between the two? How do you decide which one works best for your body? Let’s explore what the experts have to say about these pantry staples so you can make an informed choice about your digestive health.

Apple Cider Vinegar vs. Lemon: Which One Is Better?

Ayurvedic health coach Dimple Jangda highlights three key differences between lemon and apple cider vinegar as digestive foods for your body.

    1. Vitamin C Content

One lemon contains nearly 33 milligrams of vitamin C, which helps boost immunity against ailments like the common cold and cough. However, according to the experts, apple cider vinegar has negligible vitamin C as it is already a fermented product.

    2. Digestive Benefits

Lemon helps alkalize your system. When consumed with water, it stimulates bile production, improves digestion, and enhances nutrient absorption from food. Apple cider vinegar, in contrast, is acidic. The expert suggests consuming it after meals to stimulate metabolism, control sugar spikes, and create a sense of fullness, aiding in weight reduction.

    3. Digestive Effects

In Ayurveda, Jangda describes lemon as Satvik in nature because it promotes mental clarity and vitality. Apple cider vinegar, however, is considered Tamasic because it’s twice fermented. Additionally, apple cider vinegar consumed on an empty stomach can erode the mucus and good fat lining your stomach and gut walls, potentially causing long-term issues like nausea, burning sensations, and acid reflux. Lemon, on the other hand, is alkaline when consumed on an empty stomach, but excessive consumption can erode tooth enamel.

Which One Is Better On An Empty Stomach?

It depends on your health. Both lemon and apple cider vinegar are often consumed mixed with water, but their effects differ. As Jangda explains, lemon is the safer option since apple cider vinegar erodes the mucus lining. However, if you have a sensitive stomach, even lemon water should be consumed in moderation.

    Why?

Because lemon water has its own risks. Holistic health coach, Luke Coutinho highlights groups of people who should avoid lemon water on an empty stomach.

    1. People with Acid Reflux

Lemon water may worsen GERD symptoms like heartburn for some, while others may find relief. It’s best to monitor your body’s reaction before deciding.

    2. Dental Sensitivity

Lemon’s acidity can erode enamel, particularly in those with sensitive teeth. Use a straw and rinse your mouth after drinking lemon water to minimize risk.

    3. Allergy Concerns

Lemon water on an empty stomach may cause rare citrus allergies, leading to swelling, rashes, or breathing issues. Seek immediate medical help if any symptoms occur.

    4. People with Joint Pain

Lemon’s acidity may aggravate joint pain in people with arthritis. Discontinue use and consult a doctor if symptoms worsen.

    In Conclusion:

Deciding what to start your morning with depends on your body and overall health. If unsure, try each option a few times and analyse your body’s response.

  • Apple complains Meta requests risk privacy amid EU effort to widen iPhone tech access

Apple complains Meta requests risk privacy amid EU effort to widen iPhone tech access

LONDON — Apple complained that requests from Meta Platforms for access to its operating software threaten user privacy, in a spat fueled by the European Union’s intensifying efforts to get the iPhone maker to open up to products from tech rivals.

The 27-nation EU’s executive Commission is drawing up “interoperability” guidelines for Apple under its new digital competition rulebook. The interoperability measures would ensure that devices like smartwatches or features like wireless file transfers work as smoothly with iPhones as do Apple Watches or AirDrop.

The EU’s rulebook, known as the Digital Markets Act, aims to promote fair competition in digital markets and prevent Big Tech “gatekeeper” companies from cornering markets. The commission posted proposed measures late Wednesday on how Apple should make its iOS operating system work with other technology.

In response, Apple said it’s “concerned that some companies — with data practices that do not meet the high standards of data protection law held by the EU and supported by Apple — may attempt to abuse the DMA’s interoperability provisions to access sensitive user data.”

The company singled out Meta, saying it has made at least 15 requests “for potentially far-reaching access to Apple’s technology stack” that would reduce privacy protections for users.

If those requests were granted, “Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp could enable Meta to read on a user’s device all of their messages and emails, see every phone call they make or receive, track every app that they use, scan all of their photos, look at their files and calendar events, log all of their passwords,” the company said in a report.

Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram, fought back.

“Here’s what Apple is actually saying: they don’t believe in interoperability,” Meta spokesman Andy Stone said in a post on X. “In fact, every time Apple is called out for anticompetitive behavior, they defend themselves on privacy grounds that have no basis in reality.”

The Brussels-based European Commission’s proposed measures call for an approach based on Apple’s existing “request-based process,” in which developers ask for access to features and functions.

Apple should provide a “dedicated contact” to handle requests and give updates and feedback, and there should be a “fair and impartial conciliation” process to settle disagreements on technical issues.

The commission is now asking for feedback from the public by Jan. 9 on the proposals, including from any companies that have made interoperability requests from Apple, or are thinking of doing so.

  • Trump hosts Apple CEO at Mar-a-Lago as big tech leaders continue outreach to president-elect

Trump hosts Apple CEO at Mar-a-Lago as big tech leaders continue outreach to president-elect

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Donald Trump hosted Apple CEO Tim Cook for a Friday evening dinner at the president-elect’s Mar-a-Lago resort, according to a person familiar with the matter who was not authorized to comment publicly.

Cook is the latest in a string of big tech leaders — including OpenAI’s Sam Altman, Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg and Amazon’s Jeff Bezos — who have sought to improve their standing with the incoming president after choppy relations with Trump during his first term.

Trump has said he has spoken with Cook about the company’s long-running tax battles with the European Union.

The meeting comes less than two months after Trump said he spoke to Cook by phone, and soon after Apple lost its last appeal in a dispute with the EU over 13 billion euros ($14.34 billion) in back taxes to Ireland.

“He said the European Union has just fined us $15 billion,” Trump recalled of his conversation with Cook, in an October interview with podcaster Patrick Bet-David. “Then on top of that they got fined by the European Union another $2 billion.”

The decision by the EU top court was the finale to a dispute that centered on sweetheart deals that Dublin was offering to attract multinational businesses with minimal taxes across the 27-nation bloc. The European Commission in 2016 ruled that Ireland granted Apple unlawful aid that Ireland was required to recover.

Trump’s transition team and Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment about his dinner with Cook.

OpenAI CEO Altman is planning to make a $1 million personal donation to Trump’s inauguration fund, the company confirmed Friday. Amazon and Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, confirmed this week they had each donated $1 million to Trump’s inaugural fund.

During his first term, Trump criticized Amazon and railed against the political coverage at The Washington Post, which Bezos owns. Meanwhile, Bezos had criticized some of Trump’s past rhetoric. In 2019, Amazon also argued in a court case that Trump’s bias against the company harmed its chances of winning a $10 billion Pentagon contract.

More recently, Bezos has struck a more conciliatory tone. Last week, he said at The New York Times’ DealBook Summit in New York that he was “optimistic” about Trump’s second term while also endorsing president-elect’s plans to cut regulations.

The donation from Meta came just weeks after Meta CEO Zuckerberg met with Trump privately at Mar-a-Lago.

During the 2024 campaign, Zuckerberg did not endorse a candidate for president, but voiced a more positive stance toward Trump. Earlier this year, he praised Trump’s response to his first assassination attempt.

Rob Gronkowski’s wild lifestyle from forgotten $69k Apple stock to lavish car collection and Fox NFL Sunday appearances

FROM a lavish car collection to forgetting about $600,000 worth of Apple stock – Rob Gronkowski is enjoying a wild lifestyle.

When the four-time Super Bowl winner hung up his cleats in 2022, it was no surprise to see him grab retirement with both hands.

During his playing days for the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he claimed to have not spent any cash made from a NFL contracts, instead living purely off his lucrative business ventures and endorsements.

He has his own annual music festival, fitness brand, has sold NFT cards for $1.2million and even released a signature Gronk drink in partnership with Monster Energy.

The 35-year-old has also had cameos in films, the WWE and in adverts for household brands like Visa and Nike.

Gronk’s net worth is estimated at $45million.

But as he is no longer in his element at tight end, his new favorite position is behind the wheel of luxury vehicles.

Gronkowski boasts an impressive garage from 4x4s to sports cars.

    One of his pride possessions is a customised Mercedes-Benz S63 that has 603-horsepower and a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8.

They are valued at $185,000 – but that is nothing compared to the predicted $253,000 he splashed on an Audi R8.

His second-generation model is powered by a V10 engine.

Gronk can also be spotted cruising around Tampa in a Bentley Continental GT.

Rob Gronkowski suffers technical issue on Fox NFL after chest bump with Julian Edelman almost backfired

His car supposedly has adjustable mood lights and several extras that set him back at least $200,000.

And his luxury collection would not be complete without an Audi Q7 and a Jeep.

His garage even got so full that Gronkowski and his girlfriend Camille Kostek gave away free sportscars to fans.

Last year, he gave his supporters a chance to win two free Corvettes if they bought a ticket in a raffle, with funds raised going to charity.

The giveaway featured a then brand new 2023 Corvette Stingray and a classic 1974 version of the car.

Despite spending close to $1million on motors over the years, Gronkowski is not short of money.

In fact, he forgot he had $600,000 worth of Apple stock.

The NFL legend was at the Patriots when he phoned a contractor to build a mansion in Massachusetts in 2014.

Gronk explained to the Fortune: “Every time I saw him, when we were building the house, he kept saying, ‘Get Apple. Get Apple’.

“I [had] never been involved in stocks. I really didn’t know how stocks work. So I was like, ‘Alright, let me do this, man.’

“I call up my financial advisor. I’m like, ‘Put $69,000 in Apple.’

He did not check on the investment for two years, having forgotten all about it.

But after getting a nudge to check his wealth, Gronk revealed: “Now to this day, I have over $600,000 in Apple stock.

“All because of the investment I made in 2014 having no idea what I was doing, but just listening to the guy that built my house here in New England.

“Let me tell you, it’s the best investment I’ve ever had in my life.”

When Gronkowski bought Apple stock in 2014, shares were trading at $24.58.

A decade later, those same shares are worth $243.07.

These days, Gronk keeps busy by appearing on NFL Sundays on Fox Sports.

But even then he does not take the easy route, jumping out of a helicopter and into the ocean to mark Veteran’s Day weekend.

  • Dry Fruit Production In Kinnaur Declines Amid Rising Apple Farming

Dry Fruit Production In Kinnaur Declines Amid Rising Apple Farming

Traditional produce from Kinnaur such as dry fruits and organic products, which were once a major attraction at the Lavi Fair held here, are gradually losing ground to apples, the farmers from the region have claimed. The production of traditional Kinnauri products has been declining as more people are shifting to cultivate new varieties of apples, said dry fruit sellers who continue to sell their goods in Rampur even after the fair has ended. Atul Negi from Leo village in Kinnaur, who has been bringing his produce to the fair for many years, noted that in the past, he would bring 12-15 quintals of apricots and three to four quintals of almonds.
However, this year, he brought only one quintal of apricots and 30 kg of almonds. “Due to the drop in production, prices are rising, and producers are facing losses,” he said. Kinnauri dry fruits like almonds, apricots, chilgoza, raj mash, peas, kala jeera, and shilajit were available at the fair, but in much smaller quantities compared to previous years. The high prices made them unaffordable for many, and most people were unable to purchase these items.
Yashwant Singh, a farmer from Rispa village, shared that he had been bringing dry fruits and organic products to the fair for the past four to five years. However, this year, he noticed a lack of market enthusiasm, with fewer customers showing interest in his goods. More and more people are now planting apples on their vacant land, he added. Horticulture experts suggest that dry fruit production requires more labour and has a higher cost of production, while new apple varieties are fast-growing, yielding good results. As a result, the area dedicated to dry fruits is shrinking.
Dr. Ashwani Kumar, an expert from the horticulture department, explained on Tuesday that newly imported apple varieties have a better yield and start bearing fruit within four to five years, offering growers quicker returns. “Farmers are increasingly moving away from traditional produce, with many switching to apple cultivation each year,” he said. Dr. Rajesh Jaiswal, a subject specialist from the Agriculture Department, said efforts are underway to encourage the cultivation of traditional produce by offering subsidies to farmers. He emphasised that these products have high nutritional and medicinal value, which is highly beneficial for health.

Apple Chaat Recipe I How To Make Healthy Apple Chaat:

This simple, fuss-free recipe requires just a few ingredients to create a fresh and flavorful chaat:

    Step 1: Prepare the Apples
Start by washing the apple thoroughly. You can leave the skin on for added fibre and crunch. Core the apple and slice it into thin pieces or small cubes, depending on your preference. If you want an extra refreshing touch, you can soak the apple slices in a little water with lemon juice to prevent browning, though this step is optional.

    Step 2: Prepare the Dressing
In a small bowl, mix together the grated ginger, chaat masala, black salt, lemon juice, maple syrup (or your sweetener of choice), and chilli flakes. Adjust the seasoning to taste, depending on how spicy or sweet you like your chaat. Stir the mixture well until everything is combined into a smooth dressing.

    Step 3: Assemble the Chaat
In a large bowl, combine the apple slices with the prepared dressing. Toss the ingredients gently, ensuring each apple slice is evenly coated with the flavorful mixture. Add a handful of fresh mint leaves for a burst of freshness and a sprinkle of your preferred seeds for crunch.

    Step 4: Garnish and Serve
To add a bit more texture, you can top the chaat with sev or any crunchy ingredient of your choice. This could be roasted chickpea flour crisps, puffed rice, or even some crispy fried onions. The contrast of the juicy apples with the crunchy toppings makes this snack incredibly satisfying.

    Step 5: Serve and Enjoy
Serve your Apple Chaat immediately for the freshest flavour. It’s a snack that combines sweet, tangy, spicy, and crunchy elements, making every bite a burst of excitement.

    Why You’ll Love Apple Chaat

    • Flavorful and Refreshing: The combination of sweet apples, spicy chilli flakes, tangy lemon, and savoury chaat masala is absolutely mouthwatering.

SAN FRANCISCO — Apple snapped out of a recent iPhone sales slump during its summer quarter, an early sign that its recent efforts to revive demand for its marquee product with an infusion of artificial intelligence are paying off.

Sales of the iPhone totaled $46.22 billion for the July-September period, a 6% increase from the same time last year, according to Apple’s fiscal fourth-quarter report released Thursday. That improvement reversed two consecutive year-over-year declines in the iPhone’s quarterly sales.

The iPhone boost helped Apple deliver total quarterly revenue and profit that exceeded the analyst projections that sway investors, excluding a one-time charge of $10.2 billion to account for a recent European Union court decision that lumped the Cupertino, California, company with a huge bill for back taxes.

Apple earned $14.74 billion, or 97 cents per share, a 36% decrease from the same time last year. If not for the one-time tax hit, Apple said it would have earned $1.64 per share — topping the $1.60 per share predicted by analysts, according to FactSet Research. Revenue rose 6% from last year to $94.93 billion, about $400 million more than analysts forecast.

But investors evidently were hoping for an even better quarter. Apple’s stock price slipped slightly in extended trading after the numbers came out.

The results captured the first few days that consumers were able to buy a new iPhone 16 line-up that included four different models designed to handle a variety of AI wizardry that the company is marketing as “Apple Intelligence.” The branding is part of Apple’s effort to distinguish its approach to AI from rivals such as Samsung and Google that got a head start on bringing the technology to smartphones.

Even though the iPhone 16 was specifically built with AI in mind, the technology didn’t become available until Apple released a free software update earlier this week that activated its first batch of technological tricks, including a feature designed to make its virtual assistant Siri smarter, more versatile and more colorful. And those improvements are only available in the U.S. for now.

“This is just the beginning of what we believe generative AI can do,” Apple CEO Tim Cook told analysts during a Thursday conference call.

Cook said plans to expand the AI iPhone features into other countries in December, as well as roll out other software updates that will inject even more of the technology in the iPhone 16 and two high-end iPhone 15 models that are also equipped with the special computer chips needed for the slick new features. The December expansion will include an option to connect with OpenAI’s ChatGPT to take advantage of technology that Apple isn’t making on its own.

Investors are betting that as Apple’s AI becomes more broadly available, it will prompt the hundreds of millions of consumers who are using older iPhones to upgrade to newer models in order to get their hands on the latest technology.

Although the iPhone sales bounced back, another key part of Apple’s operations — its services division — didn’t fare quite as well as analysts anticipated amid regulatory efforts in Europe and U.S. to force the company to allow more payment options within its app store. That crackdown threatens to undercut a lucrative fee system that enables Apple to exclusively collect a 15% to 30% commission on many of the digital commerce transactions completed within iPhone apps.

The revenue in Apple’s service division climbed 12% from a year ago to nearly $25 billion, but that figure was about $200 million below analyst projections.

Apple’s revenue also dipped slightly from a year ago in China, where the company has been facing stiffer competition in the smartphone market.

Apple launches the iPhone into the AI era with free software update

Apple is releasing a free software update that will inject its first dose of artificial intelligence into its iPhone 16 lineup as the trendsetting company tries to catch up with technology’s latest craze.

The upgrade to the iOS 18 operating system on Monday arrives more than a month after four iPhone 16 models equipped with the special computer chip needed to power the AI features went on sale at prices ranging from $800 to $1,200. Last year’s premium models — the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max — also possess a processor that will enable the AI technology after the software update is installed.

Recent versions of Apple’s iPad and Mac computer also can be updated with the software.

Countries outside the U.S. won’t be getting the AI software for their iPhones until next year at a date still to be determined. Apple spent the past five weeks testing the AI software among an audience of iPhone owners who signed up to help the company fine tune the technology.

The AI infusion is supposed to transform Apple’s often bumbling virtual assistant Siri into a more conversational, versatile and colorful companion whose presence will be denoted by a glowing light that circles the iPhone’s screen as requests are being handled.

While Apple is promising Siri will be able to perform more tasks and be less prone to becoming confused, it won’t be able to interact with other apps installed on the iPhone until another software update comes out at a still-unspecified date.

Other AI features included in this software update will handle a variety of writing and proofreading tasks, summarize the content of emails and other documents. The AI also will provide a variety of editing tools to alter the appearance of photos and make it easier to find old pictures.

Other AI tricks still to come in future software updates will include the ability to create customized emojis on the fly or conjure other fanciful imagery upon request. Apple also plans to eventually enable its AI suite to get a helping hand from OpenAI’s ChatGPT when users want it.

Most of the AI features Apple introduced Monday are already available on Android-powered smartphones that Samsung and Google released earlier this year.

In an effort to distinguish its approach from the early leaders in AI, the iPhone’s suite of new technology is being marketed as “Apple Intelligence.” Apple is also promising its AI features will do a far better job protecting the privacy of iPhone owners by either running the technology on device or corralled in a fortress-like data center when some requests have to be processed remotely.

Because most iPhones currently in use around the world don’t have the computer chip needed for Apple’s AI, the technology is expected to drive huge demand for the new models during the holiday season and into next year, too. That’s the main reason why Apple’s stock price has soared 18% since the Cupertino, California, previewed its AI strategy at a conference in early June. The run-up has increased Apple’s market value by about $500 billion, catapulting it closer to becoming the first U.S. company to be worth $4 trillion.

Apple will give investors their first glimpse at how the iPhone 16 is faring Thursday when the company posts quarterly financial information for the July-September quarter — a period that includes the first few days the new models were on sale.

Demand for the high-end iPhone 15 models ticked upward as prices for them fell and the excitement surrounding Apple’s entrance into the AI market ramped up, according to an assessment of the smartphone market during the most recent quarter by the research firm International Data Corp.

Apple’s iPhone shipments rose 3.5 percent from the same time last year to 56 million worldwide during the July-September period, second only to Samsung, according to IDC. The question now is whether Apple’s gradual release of more AI will cause owners of older iPhones to splurge on the new models during the holidays, “future-proofing their purchases for the long term,” said IDC analyst Nabila Popal.

Also on Monday, Apple said that with the software update some AirPods wireless headphones can be used as hearing aids.

An estimated 30 million people — 1 in 8 Americans over the age of 12 — have hearing loss in both ears. Millions would benefit from hearing aids but most have never tried them, according to the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders.
