Arsenal are set to lose sporting director Edu Gaspar with the Brazilian poised to join up with Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis and his network of clubs.
The departure will remove one of Mikel Arteta’s key allies at the Emirates after a successful period establishing the Gunners as one of the most efficient clubs in Europe in the transfer market.
The Brazilian has played a vital role in Arteta’s side emerging as Premier League title contenders with some of the best business in recent years including the signings of Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice.
The former Arsenal midfielder has established himself as one of the game’s leading sporting directors after impressing with both signings and trimming down the Gunners’ squad after selling Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.
Edu has been in talks with the Marinakis group and could now lead their recruitment to assist with the likes of Nottingham Forest and Greek club Olympiacos, as well as Portuguese side Rio Ave.
The move will force a reshuffle at the top of the Arsenal hierarchy at a pivotal time for the club and their push to wrestle the title away from Manchester City.

It is no surprise to hear the name of Viktor Gyokeres among the trio. The former Coventry forward hit 43 goals last season and already has 18 this term.
Gyokeres, 26, has a release clause of £84m and has refused to rule out a move to the Premier League, with Arsenal also named among his suitors.
‘Going with Amorim to Man Utd? I don’t know… I’m here,’ he said.
‘As you can see, I enjoy it at Sporting. It’s nothing I think about. I’m just sad about him (Amorim) leaving. We wish him all the best.’
Alongside Gyokeres, United could approach centre-back Goncalo Inacio, 23, and midfielder Morten Hjulmand, 25.
United were already targeting Inacio over the summer, according to Portuguese outlets Record and O Jogo. Arsenal were also reported to be keen on him in December 2023 and he has a reported release clause of £51m.
Inacio has won two Portuguese league titles, two League Cups, and a Super Cup since stepping up to Sporting’s first team in the 2020-21 season. He has also amassed 12 caps for Portugal and featured twice at Euro 2024.
While he is principally a central option, Amorim has also deployed him at left-back.

Meanwhile, Hjulmand has been touted as a ‘replacement for Casemiro’ although he has a long way to living up to the Brazilian’s pedigree.
He has won one title with Sporting after spending the last couple of seasons with the Portuguese giants. The Dane started his career with Admira Wacker in Austria before joining Lecce in Italy.
The Sun claims that he would cost around £40m.
Hjulmand scored a stunner at Euro 2024 against England.
However, there is one detail United should be cautious of. The midfielder is a lifelong Arsenal fan and even has a tattoo of the club’s crest on his upper left arm.
If Sporting are fearful of Amorim’s departure derailing their season, they may take a crumb of comfort in his assurances that he does not want to poach stars in January.
‘I’m not going to get any players from Sporting in January,’ he said.
‘Gyokeres costs 100 million (euros) and it’s very difficult.’

Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has been spotted back in a football stadium for the first time since his sacking earlier this week.
The Dutchman’s reign as United boss ended on Monday morning following their controversial 2-1 defeat by West Ham.
Ten Hag’s two-and-a-half years at Old Trafford yielded FA Cup and Carabao Cup honours but his side underperformed in the league, especially in his final full season, which ended with club finishing eighth – their lowest-ever position in the Premier League.
Ten Hag swiftly jetted back home to the Netherlands following his dismissal and he has now been spotted attending a match in the Dutch Eredivisie between Heracles Almelo and NAC Breda.
The 54-year-old was on hand to witness the home side claim a 2-0 win thanks to a brace from Brian De Keersmaecker at the Erve Asito stadium.

Fern Burrage-Male took over as manager of Cardiff City Ladies football team in October 2023. Since then the team has been rebranded as Gwalia United, and its co-owners Julian Jenkins and Damien Singh have outlined their ambition to take it to the top flight.
Speaking ahead of Sunday’s FA Women’s Cup tie away to Swindon, in a Q&A with Nation.Cymru, Gwalia’s manager explains why she took the job, its biggest challenge and how she feels about the current state of women’s football in Wales.
Nation.Cymru: What inspired you to take on the role of manager at Cardiff City Ladies, now Gwalia United?
Burrage-Male: Honestly, I’ve always felt a deep connection with Cardiff City Ladies—this club has played a huge role in my life both as a player and now as a coach. The opportunity to take on the managerial role came quickly, and while it was unexpected, it felt right. I had spent years building teams and leading them at Pontypridd Town, and I knew I had something to offer.
“But more than that, it was the belief in the players here that pushed me to step up. They are a fantastic group of women who deserve to be competing at the highest level possible, and I know I can help them get there.
Ambition
I’ve always been driven by a desire to see women’s football in Wales grow, and this role is an extension of that ambition. Cardiff City Ladies, now transitioning to Gwalia United, has immense potential, and I wanted to be the one to help unlock it.
We were in a tough spot when I took over, and I saw the challenge as an opportunity to prove what we’re capable of. It’s not just about results for me, but about building something sustainable and empowering for the players. I want them to know that together, we can overcome any obstacle.

Nation.Cymru: What has been your greatest challenge since taking over as manager?
Burrage-Male: The biggest challenge, without a doubt, has been taking over mid-season when morale was low and results weren’t going our way. When you step into a team that’s struggling, there’s always this pressure to turn things around immediately, and that pressure was certainly felt here. One of the first things I focused on was rebuilding that confidence, both individually and collectively.
Players like Chloe Lloyd and Ellie Sargent stepped up and became vital parts of our turnaround, but it wasn’t just about the big names. It was about making sure every player felt valued and understood their role.
Resilience
We had some tough games in February, but those wins didn’t just come from strategy—they came from heart, from a team that refused to give up. I’ve always believed that adversity breeds resilience, and this team showed that in abundance. It’s been a steep learning curve, but the progress we’ve made since I took over makes me incredibly proud, and I look forward into continuing this journey to success with Gwalia United.
Nation.Cymru: How do you describe your coaching style and philosophy?
Burrage-Male: My coaching style is rooted in positivity and empowerment. I believe in creating an environment where players feel valued, heard, and encouraged to express themselves both on and off the pitch. I prioritise open communication and trust; I want my players to know that I’m always here to support them. My philosophy is simple: I aim to develop not just skilled footballers, but well-rounded individuals who can thrive in a team setting.
The girls at Gwalia are more than aware that they are lucky to be at the club at a period where the winds of change might blow behind them over the coming years and I feel privileged to be in a position where I can play a part to leading to success, hopefully on and off the field.
My experience at Welsh Netball and Hockey Wales have provided me with unique insights that I can apply to my football coaching. Both sports require similar foundational principles, such as teamwork, discipline, and strategic thinking. This crossover allows me to bring diverse perspectives to the table, enhancing my approach to coaching in both arenas.
Nation.Cymru: What are your long-term goals for Gwalia United?
Burrage-Male: My long-term goals for Gwalia United are ambitious but grounded in the reality of our potential. I want to establish the club as a formidable force in women’s football in Wales and beyond. We have a rich history and a dedicated fan base, and it’s crucial to build on that foundation. One of my primary objectives is to cultivate a winning culture where success is defined not just by trophies, but by the development of our players and the community we create.

I envision Gwalia United competing consistently at the top of the FA Women’s National League over the coming season and then, hopefully, taking that difficult hop to higher leagues afterwards. To achieve this, we need to invest in our youth development, ensuring that we’re not just looking for immediate results but also nurturing the next generation of talent.
I want our academy to be a pipeline for future stars of women’s football. The FAW have been exceptionally supportive of our ambitions and we are looking to develop ourselves as a strong Welsh beacon of elite performance in the English FA system that serves as a credible platform for Welsh women to aim for.
Additionally, I’m committed to elevating the profile of women’s football in Wales. I believe that by consistently performing at a high level and engaging with our community, we can attract more supporters and sponsors, which is vital for our growth. The goal is to create an environment where every player feels they can achieve their dreams, and where our success inspires the next wave of female athletes.
Nation.Cymru:How do you feel about the current state of women’s football in Wales?
Burrage-Male: I feel incredibly optimistic about the current state of women’s football in Wales. There’s been a noticeable shift in recent years, with increased visibility and support for women’s sports. More fans are engaging with women’s football, and we’re seeing greater investment from both clubs and governing bodies. This momentum is exciting and is crucial for the long-term development of the game.
Facilities
However, while the progress is commendable, there’s still much work to be done. We need to continue pushing for better facilities, resources, and opportunities for women at all levels of the sport. Increasing participation in grassroots football is essential to ensure a strong pipeline of talent. Initiatives that promote young girls getting involved in football can have a significant impact on the future of our game.
Moreover, I believe we must work collectively to challenge outdated perceptions about women’s football. It’s a fantastic sport filled with skilled athletes who deserve recognition and support.
By sharing our success stories and showcasing the talent within our teams, we can continue to elevate the profile of women’s football in Wales. I’m proud to be part of this journey and excited for what the future holds for Gwalia United and women’s football as a whole.

In an official statement, Greenville Triumph announced that the former Brazil international has joined the club’s ownership structure, which includes the Greenville Liberty, a women’s team who play in the USL W League. Ronaldinho and his brother Assis have joined the consortium via Wallace Cheves, a member of the GPS ownership group, who brought him on board through Cheves’ Grupo Ronaldinho ownership syndicate. It is unclear what the group paid for their stake in the club or how much money Ronaldinho has invested.

Greenville Triumph currently play in the USL League One, the country’s ‘third tier’ and Ronaldinho will also be one of the ambassadors for the forthcoming 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

The Bundesliga club said their player’s actions ‘were not in line with [their] stance’ and he has since been suspended.
‘Homophobia has no place with us, Kevin is now home alone,’ Schindzielorz said, according to Sky Germany.

Behrens, who has just a year left on his contract, has barely featured on the pitch this season for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Wolfsburg, playing just 42 minutes in three brief substitute appearances.
The one-time Germany international was on the bench for the full 90 minutes during Saturday’s impressive 3-1 win at Bochum.
But it is his off-the-field actions that have gained him unwanted attention after the September signing session went awry.
As other players penned autographs on jerseys and other merchandise, to be auctioned off for charity and various competitions, Behrens was reportedly approached by someone offering up a rainbow shirt.
The kit, which features the pattern on parts of the item of clothing including the number on the back, was introduced five years ago to show Wolfsburg’s ‘support for diversity’ and several new editions of the top, as well as scarves, cups and pins, have been launched since.
After discussing the incident with Behrens, Wolfsburg said: ‘During an internal meeting, statements were made that were not in line with VfL Wolfsburg’s stance. The incident was immediately dealt with internally.
‘VfL Wolfsburg stresses that it is aware of its social responsibility. The club and its employees stand for diversity and tolerance, and fundamental values such as respect, honesty and openness have always been firmly anchored in the club’s philosophy.’
Meanwhile, Behrens said: ‘My spontaneous comments were absolutely not okay. I would like to apologise for that.
‘The issue was clearly discussed internally and I ask for your understanding that I do not wish to comment further on it.’
The striker was in the squad for the victory at Bochum although he did not feature.
On top of the sporting of a rainbow jersey, Wolfsburg are believed to make their employees, including the players, aware of related issues in a diversity training session.

As I stepped into Cedar, I was immediately taken by the striking contrast of bold black and white patterned flooring paired with a marble fountain, setting an inviting tone. The wrought iron chairs and lush green interiors lend an air of elegance, while the vibrant bar area buzzed with high-energy music. But I had planned for a quieter dinner. Fortunately, Cedar offers two exclusive private dining rooms, ideal for intimate gatherings. Walking along a cosy alley, I sat at the other dining area. As I settled in, I was pleasantly surprised to discover another bar in the dining area.
Cedar’s Cocktails Get A Thumbs Up:
I decided to kick off my culinary journey with a Cedar House Punch-a bourbon cocktail that expertly balanced richness and refreshment. My dining companion opted for Kaffir Lime-Infused Gin & Tonis which quickly became a favourite on the table. We also sampled the Caribbean Long Island Iced Tea, a vibrant blue concoction that was enough to liven up my spirits.
Cedar’s Food Review:
Cedar’s menu is a delightful fusion of global cuisine delicacies. From classic Indian dishes to innovative international flavours, there’s something to satisfy every palate. For dinner, I indulged in the Tandoori Prawns, which were perfectly cooked and had a smoky, spicy flavour. The Chicken Yellow Curry Dimsum was another highlight, with its creamy texture and delicious oyster sauce flavour. The Malabar Coast Fish, paired with coconut curry and rice, was a satisfying and flavorful dish. I also recommend the Angara chicken tikka, which is a unique twist on the classic dish.
While the appetizers and main courses were excellent, the dessert course fell short of expectations. I sampled the Pistachio Tres Leches and Baked Cheesecake, but neither captured my sweet tooth’s affection.
Overall Impression
Cedar Club House is a beautiful restaurant with a unique ambience and good food. However, there is room for improvement in the dessert department and mosquito control. Nevertheless, it stands as a fantastic destination for weeknight dining, merging vibrant music and stunning interiors into a memorable experience. If you’re looking for a high-energy dining experience with delicious food and cocktails, Cedar Club House is definitely worth a visit.

FC Goa (FCG) head coach Manolo Marquez acknowledged in the post-match press conference that his team was not at its best after they played a draw against Mohammedan Sporting Club (MSC) in the Indian Super League (ISL) in Kolkata. Alexis Gomez opened the scoring for Mohammedan SC with a penalty, putting the home side in a strong position to secure three points at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan on Saturday. However, Armando Sadiku’s late equaliser dashed those hopes, leaving the spoils shared. Both teams earned their first points of the league season, but FC Goa may feel fortunate to have escaped with a draw, as Mohammedan SC created numerous chances and troubled them for much of the game. Reflecting on the performance, Marquez expressed uncertainty about whether his team truly deserved the draw given their lacklustre display. “We are not in a good moment, especially mentally. It’s not a problem physically or technically because we know the kind of players that we have. But the team seems tired. Even in some moments, we don’t know what to do. Maybe even I don’t know, maybe I was wrong with the lineup and the substitutions. It’s not about finding who is guilty. The positive thing is playing in this way. We got one point in injury time which I’m not sure we deserved,” he said in the post-match press conference, as quoted by ISL official website. Mohammedan SC secured their first points in the ISL after suffering a loss in their opening match against NorthEast United FC. Just as in that first game, they proved difficult for FC Goa to penetrate. The Black and White Brigade have only two goals across their two matches so far. Sharing his thoughts about Mohammedan SC, Marquez said, “They played a good game, same like the other day. I think they are still (dealing) with this physical problem because the pre-season was short or maybe in a similar situation than Punjab FC in the beginning of last season. They are still adapting to the ISL, because two games and lost points in injury times in both games. It’s tough, but I think that the supporters can be proud of this team because they played very well. They have a clear style with a lot of continuity in the players. It was a very difficult game for us. It’s not only because we are in a bad moment, the credit goes to Mohammedan SC also.” Mohammedan SC brought off Alexis Gomez and Franca, both of whom were standout performers in their attack against FC Goa and were involved in the opening goal. Brazilian forward Franca, in particular, was a constant threat to the FC Goa defence, testing keeper Laxmikant Kattimani on multiple occasions and earning the penalty that led to Gomez’s goal. When asked if the substitutions of the duo made a difference in the final score, Marquez praised the entire Mohammedan SC squad. “They have very good players. Not only these two foreigners, but they have very good Indian players too. The winger, left footer, Bikash (Sangolsem Singh) I like a lot. I think he is a very good player. Kasimov played a fantastic game. In my opinion he was the best player on the pitch. It was difficult to control them. Both (full-)backs are strong, fast. I think Mohammedan SC has a good team.
