Homemade Ginger Cough Drops In 10 Mins – You Just Need 2 Ingredients

When the winter chill sets in and coughs and sore throats become an unwelcome companion, we often turn to store-bought remedies. But what if you could whip up a natural, chemical-free alternative right at home in just 10 minutes? Chef Neha Deepak Shah recently shared a simple recipe for homemade ginger cough drops on Instagram, and it’s a game-changer. With just two natural ingredients, you can create these effective little candies that are not only soothing but also delicious.

How To Make Homemade Cough Drops I Ginger Cough Drop Recipe:

    Take:

    • 1 cup Jaggery (unprocessed cane sugar that’s rich in minerals)
    • 1/4 cup Ginger Juice (a natural remedy for colds, coughs, and throat irritation)

These two ingredients work together to create a powerful blend. Jaggery acts as the base, providing sweetness while helping to soothe a scratchy throat. Ginger juice, on the other hand, adds its medicinal properties, known for combating inflammation, soothing the throat, and relieving cough symptoms.

    The Cooking Process:
Making these cough drops is as easy as it gets. Here’s how you do it:

    Combine the Ingredients:
In a heavy-bottomed pan, mix the jaggery and ginger juice. Ensure the pan is on low to medium heat to prevent the jaggery from burning.

    Cook the Mixture:
Stir the mixture continuously for 10-12 minutes. As the jaggery melts, it will start to bubble and thicken.

    Test for Consistency:
The key to perfect cough drops lies in the consistency of the mixture. To test it, drop a small amount of the mixture into a bowl of cold water. If it solidifies immediately and breaks like glass when you try to snap it, it’s ready. If it’s stretchy or pliable, cook for another minute or two and test again.

    Set the Drops:
Once the mixture reaches the right consistency, pour it into a silicone or metal mould. If you don’t have a mould, you can use a greased tray and cut it into small pieces once it sets.

    Cool and Dust:
Let the cough drops cool completely. To prevent them from sticking together, dust them lightly with cornflour. This step also ensures they stay fresh for longer.

How To Store Ginger Cough Drop:

Transfer the cough drops to an airtight container and store them in a cool, dry place. They’ll last for weeks, ready to provide relief whenever needed.

    Chef Neha’s Special Tip:
Always use silicone or metal moulds to set the cough drops, as they withstand high heat.
Ensure the mixture is at the right consistency before setting; otherwise, the drops may not harden properly.

    Why Choose Homemade?

These ginger cough drops are free from processed sugar, artificial flavours, and preservatives. They’re an all-natural remedy that could be a healthier alternative to store-bought options. With just jaggery and ginger juice, you can create a soothing remedy that’s as good for your throat as it is for your taste buds.

Viral: Man Drops 31 Kg In 1.5 Years While Enjoying “Outside” Food, Heres What Nutritionist Says

Imagine indulging in junk food and still losing weight – sounds like a dream come true, right? Well, for one man, it is a reality, and his transformation post is now going viral on Reddit. The post features impressive before-and-after photos of his weight loss journey, with his face concealed behind emojis. But the dramatic change in his physique is enough to inspire anyone. According to the man, he shed 31 kilos in just 1.5 years. Starting at 120 kg, he now proudly weighs 89 kg. In his note, the man revealed his strategy: sticking to a strict diet during weekdays while treating himself to “outside” food on weekends. A self-proclaimed foodie, he confessed he could not resist his love for good food but found a balance that worked for him.

In his note, the 28-year-old man wrote, “Took 1.5yrs to reach this. I have been eating outside food as well on weekends because I have been a foodie and can’t live without it. But weekdays have been a strict diet of being under 2000cals with atleast 120g protein vegetarian diet.”

    Check out his post below:

This journey has left many people wondering whether this is a healthy way to lose weight. According to Consultant Nutritionist Rupali Datta, if the man managed to lose weight without resorting to crash dieting, there is no harm in his approach. She explained, “If he has achieved his health goals and done it without crash dieting while enjoying his food, it’s good. That’s the only way he can sustain it. Even as nutritionists, we do encourage patients to stay as close as possible to their normal lifestyles. At the end of the day, you have to work out a system within that.”

Nutritionist Rupali Datta also raised concerns about the man’s protein intake, calling it “not a good idea” for the long term. She added, “Regarding this case, the quantity of protein consumed is not a good idea for the long term. Further, if he has taken a year and a half to lose that amount of weight, he has obviously not crash-dieted.”

Talking about targeted weight loss and a healthy lifestyle, Rupali Datta shared, “As nutritionists, what we follow is a targeted weight loss of 500 grams to 1 kg a week. The calorie count is a small part of the whole process. The main thing is to teach the person to eat better, to imbibe better habits, and to do it in such a way that it can be followed lifelong. If you tend to put on weight, and then revert to your old habits, it is all going to come back. We never recommend crash dieting.”

SCRANTON, PA — The University of Scranton women’s soccer team saw their season come to an end with a heartbreaking 1-0 overtime loss to Trinity University (TX) in NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 action on Saturday afternoon at Weiss Field.

    How it Happened

    • Scranton put the pressure on Trinity from the start, but the Tigers’ fourth ranked defense was up to the task.
    • Goalkeeper Lauryn Lewis denied two shots from Royals’ graduate student Niamh Healy and freshman Molly Martys en route to making three saves in the first half.
    • Scranton’s defensive unit also came to play early, limiting the Tigers to just four shots in the first half.
    • Senior goalkeeper Nicole Olson made one save in the opening half.
    • The Royals continued to pressure the Tigers’ defense in the second half, recording 17 shots, five shots on goal.

After Michaela Bosco served the ball into the box, it was redirected by Alex Doran to freshman Elie Kriek who softly flicked it over the diving Olson and into the back of the net to send Trinity into the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. Ruben Amorim drops MAJOR hint over Man United’s potential move for Viktor Gyokeres – as departing Sporting Lisbon boss reveals when the in-form striker will leave the club

    • Amorim took charge of his final home game with Sporting on Tuesday evening
    • He will have one final match in charge this weekend before joining Man United

Ruben Amorim has dropped a huge hint as to whether Man United will pursue Viktor Gyokeres after the striker put in another stunning performance for Sporting Lisbon.

The Swede continued his stunning form under Amorim as the Sporting head coach oversaw a 4-1 win over Man City in his final home match ahead of his move to Man United.

Phil Foden had given Man City the lead in the fourth minute, before Gyokeres replied with three goals – two from the penalty spot – to help inspire Sporting’s shock win.

There’s been plenty of discussion surrounding the former Brighton and Coventry striker amid his fine goalscoring form and some have suggested Amorim may look to bring him to Old Trafford.

Now, the Portuguese boss has broken his silence on the matter and revealed when he expects Gyokeres to leave Sporting.

Speaking after the match, according to A Bola, Amorim said:  ‘If I start joking about this Gyokeres situation I’ll get in trouble.

‘This is my city, this is my country, so I’ll respect it. Viktor has to stay until the end of the season and then his life will probably go somewhere else’.

Though a January move for the Sweden international appears to be off the table, Amorim appeared to hint that he could launch a summer move for Gyokeres.

Earlier in the night, United legend Rio Ferdinand tipped Gyokeres to follow Amorim to United after his stunning hat-trick against the Red Devils’ local rivals.

‘The recruitment teams in all the clubs in the Premier League must be scratching their heads about how they let him get away,’ Ferdinand said.

‘He hasn’t had a conventional route, his route to the top hasn’t been straightforward.

‘He was at Brighton as a kid, sold to Coventry, went on loan to Swansea, goes back to Coventry and does well, then goes to Sporting Lisbon.

Gyokeres' overall tally at Sporting now standing at 63 goals in 66 games

‘He has had a journey where he has had to build himself and create what he is now.

‘You think ‘How has he been allowed to get out?’, all of a sudden when are seeing what he has got, maybe he has grown into what he is, the confidence, stature he has, the physicality, he might have had to wait for that to come.

‘A few times today he blew away from players, holding people off.’

The hat-trick took Gyokeres’ tally for the season to 23 goals in 17 matches this season, with his overall tally at Sporting now standing at 63 in 66 games.

Ike football drops OT thriller to Franklin | News, Sports, Jobs

RUSSELL — Caden Mincer’s 5-yard touchdown run in overtime lifted Franklin to a 40-34 come-from-behind football victory over Eisenhower on Friday night.

Franklin trailed 34-20 early in the fourth quarter, but Mincer scored from a yard out with 4:23 remaining to trim the deficit to 34-26.

The visitors were just getting started.

On its ensuing possession, Eisenhower fumbled and Mincer returned it 26 yards for a touchdown. The two-point conversion try was fumbled, but Eisnhower recovered it in the end zone to tie the game 34-34 with 1:53 left in regulation.

In the extra session, Eisenhower was stopped on fourth-and-goal from the 6, turning the ball over to Franklin, which then ended the game on Mincer’s 5-yard TD.

Eisenhower was in control early, opening a 14-0 lead, courtesy of a 50-yard punt return by Caleb Jakubczak and his 8-yard TD pass to Tanner Lookenhouse. Bryceton Wilkins connected on both point-after kicks.

Franklin scored the next two touchdowns, a Freddie Blackhurst 1-yard run and Mincer’s 25-yard burst, and Connor Ritchey connected on both PATs to tie the game 14-all. Eisenhower immediately regained the lead 21-14 when Jakubcak found Lookenhouse on a 33-yard TD pass. Wilkins’ point-after try was good.

Mincer’s 4-yard touchdown run on Franklin’s first possession of the second half pulled it within a point, but the PAT was no good and Eisenhower led 21-20 with 9:56 remaining in the third quarter.

Nolan Gesing’s 10-yard TD burst pushed Eisenhower’s lead to 27-20 and, after a Franklin turnover, Jakubczak raced 63 yards for the score. Wilkins’ extra point kick was good, giving Eisenhower a 34-20 lead 13 seconds into the final period.

That set the stage for a frantic final 11-plus minutes of regulation and into overtime.

NOTE: Jakubczak rushed for 115 yards on 10 carries and passed for 104 yards, accounting for three touchdowns for Eisenhower. … Jacob Penley added 108 rushing yards on 17 carries and Lookenhouse added two TD receptions. … Mincer led Franklin with 135 yards on 21 carries and four touchdowns, while Blackhurst added 64 yards on 18 carries.
