Bill Ackman vows to yank fund from stock exchange after Amsterdam soccer thugs target Jewish fans

Billionaire hedge funder Bill Ackman on Friday vowed to pull his Pershing Square firm from the Euronext stock exchange in Amsterdam after sick soccer thugs ran amok to target Israeli fans in a string on anti-Semitic attacks in the Netherlands.

Jew-hating agitators violently assaulted supporters of Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Dutch city before and during their game against elite club Ajax that saw more than 60 people arrested on Thursday night and left 10 people injured.

Amsterdam’s mayor Femke Halsema said Maccabi’s traveling faithful had been “attacked, abused and pelted with fireworks” around the city by what she branded as “Antisemitic hit-and-run squads.”

Ackman, who is Jewish, wrote on X that he would “seek approval” from Pershing’s board to “eliminate its listing” from the Euronext exchange.

“Events in Amsterdam during the last 24 hours provide an appropriate tipping point for this conclusion,” he added. “Leaving a jurisdiction that fails to protect its tourists and minority populations combine both good business and moral principles.”

The Democrat donor-turned-Donald Trump supporter said he had long been considering a move to the London Stock Exchange because that is where his firm makes most of its trades.

The 58-year-old hedge fund manager also claimed that he was already in discussions with Universal Music Group (UMG) about switching its own listing from the Netherlands to the United States.

His Pershing Square funds own a roughly 10% stake in the music and entertainment giant, making Ackman one of the company’s biggest shareholders. He also sits on its board.

“Pershing Square has a contractual right to cause UMG to be listed in the US. We will exercise this right and achieve a US listing for UMG no later than some time next year,” he said on the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

The global music titan counts Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, U2 and Rihanna among its artist roster.

The Post has approached Euronext and Universal Music Group for comment.

The billionaire Harvard graduate was one of the loudest voices calling for now-deposed president Claudine Gay to stand down over the anti-Semitic, pro-Hamas protests on campus earlier this year.

Ackman has also been a vocal critic of diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, known as DEI, that claims to promote minority rights, calling it “a racist and illegal movement.”

Earlier this year, he yanked a planned New York Stock Exchange listing for his Pershing Square USA fund after investor demand fell short of expectations.

The idea was to create a so-called closed-end fund, meaning shareholders can only pull back if someone else buys their stock.

Ackman rose to prominence in 2012 with a disastrous $1 billion short of Herbalife, the dietary supplements firm, with rival activist Carl Icahn taking a opposite stance on the company’s future.

The pair then had an infamous row live on CNBC the following year.

Amsterdam Attacks: Israeli Soccer Fans Targeted

Israeli soccer fans were targeted in what have been described as antisemitic attacks in the Netherlands after a match on Thursday.

Following the Europa League game between Israeli team Maccabi Tel Aviv and Dutch side Ajax Amsterdam on Thursday night, videos of Israeli fans being attacked circulated on social media, although Newsweek is unable to verify the footage.

    How Has Israel Responded?

Israeli authorities initially planned to send two rescue planes to Amsterdam although this plan was later canceled.

The Israeli military initially wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: “Following the severe incidents of violence against Israelis in Amsterdam, under the guidance of the political echelon and following the assessment of the situation, the IDF immediately prepared to send out a rescue mission in coordination with the Dutch government.”

However, Israel’s military later said the rescue mission would not be taking place.

“Following the directive of the political echelon, the IDF mission will not be departing to Amsterdam,” the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement provided to Newsweek.

“In accordance with the situational assessment, it was decided that IDF soldiers will be prohibited from flying to the Netherlands until further notice. Exceptional requests will be examined on an individual basis.”

Following the attacks, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar “urgently flew to the Netherlands on the request of the Prime Minister on Friday morning,” according to the Jerusalem Post.

Sa’ar will reportedly meet with senior Dutch government officials, including the Dutch foreign minister, as well as Israelis and members of the local Jewish community.

Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof condemned the attacks, writing on X: “I followed the news from Amsterdam with horror. Completely unacceptable antisemitic attacks on Israelis. I am in close contact with all those involved. Just now in a call with @IsraeliPM Netanyahu emphasized that the perpetrators will be tracked down and prosecuted. It is now quiet in the capital.”

Newsweek reached out to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the Government of the Netherlands for comment via email.

Some social media users have questioned whether the attacks actually were antisemitic, pointing out alleged earlier incidents.

What Do Videos Show of Amsterdam Attacks?

Multiple videos show Israeli fans chanting expletives and other slogans referencing the war in the Middle East. Newsweek is unable to verify these videos.

There were also reports of a Palestinian flag being torn down by unknown individuals.

Police in Amsterdam said that they held 57 people after protesters attempted to reach the Johan Cruyff Arena where Ajax played Maccabi Tel Aviv, but were told not to protest there, with clashes occurring after the game in the city center.

Ten Israelis were injured and Israeli citizens were advised to stay in their hotel rooms, according to reports.

Sa’ar referred to the violence as “terrible barbaric and antisemitic terror attacks” which are “a blaring alarm call for Europe and the world.”

Users on social media have engaged in debates about what happened and the significance of the attacks.

Elica Le Bon, an attorney, wrote on X: “I’m so disgusted by what I just witnessed. In Amsterdam, Israelis & Jews leaving a soccer match were beaten unconscious by mobs, thrown in the river, and forced to say ‘free Palestine.’ This is the direct result of normalizing antisemitism post Oct. 7, where the most flagrant acts of Jew-hatred were cast aside as just ‘bleeding hearts who are against the war.’

“Remind me again how these are all just kind people who care about humanity. If you can’t bring yourself to speak up now—after failing the Jewish community for the past year with silence and/or by insisting that ‘globalize the intifada’ was anything other than a dogwhistle to harass Jews around the world—you have no right to call yourself a humanitarian.”

Another X user, Ori Goldberg, a former university professor in Israel, wrote: “Murderous solipsism. Israeli football fans go on a rampage in Amsterdam, tearing down Palestinian flags and shouting racist slogans. Why? Because the very presence of anything Palestinian is a threat to the integrity of the solipsistic bubble we inhabit even when abroad. Then, of course, we are surprised. How is it that when we do such things we suffer the consequences? How is it that we are attacked? How is it that the Dutch police doesn’t recognize that we are on a mission for peace, that we are good while they must be bad?”

He continued: “Events last night in Amsterdam are presented as a ‘pogrom’ here in Israel. We do not occupy the same plane of existence as the rest of you. Our actions have no implications. We can never be the cause of anything. Everything happens to us. Only we are real. Murderous solipsism.”

The Israeli fans were to be evacuated through rescue flights shortly
The Israeli fans were to be evacuated through rescue flights shortly

Israeli football fans were ambushed and some of them went missing Thursday evening in Amsterdam in the aftermath of a match between FC Ajax and Maccabi Tel Aviv. In response, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sent two emergency flights to evacuate Israelis from the Dutch city as observers worldwide concurred on the use of the word “Pogrom,” which historically refers to an organized massacre of a particular ethnic group, particularly that of Jewish people in Russia or eastern Europe in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

A Dutch police spokeswoman said 57 people have been arrested as riot police were deployed. Video footage on social media showed what the Maccabi fans were subjected to. According to the Amsterdam TV station AT5, demonstrators threw chairs at Maccabi fans. Citing the country’s foreign ministry, Israeli media reported that ten Israelis were injured. Two more people were reported missing. The Israeli newspaper Maariw reported that there had been an attempted kidnapping. Mobile police forces are said to have later shielded the Israelis and escorted them to their hotels.

The Prime Minister’s Office said Netanyahu views the “horrifying incident with utmost gravity” and called on the Dutch government and security forces to take “vigorous and swift action against the rioters.” Netanyahu was also said to have spoken with Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof in the wee hours of Friday to ask him for increased security for the Jewish community in the Netherlands.

Schoof said on X that he had been following the events “with horror.” He also vowed that the perpetrators would be found and held accountable.

In the meantime, Israel’s National Security Council warned Israelis and Jews in the Netherlands to “avoid movements in the street and lock yourself in hotel rooms.“ In addition, ”the externalization of Israeli and Jewish symbols must be avoided.”

“The Dutch police sold us out so that the Arabs would lynch us,” an Israeli fan was quoted as saying. “We were ambushedÖThe police here abandoned us. Every fourth person walking the street is a Muslim who has come to attack Jews.”

“This seems like a PLANNED and ORGANIZED POGROM in Amsterdam,” former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett posted on social media. “At these moments, Arabs are rampaging around and brutally beating Israeli tourists in a way that seems life-threatening,” he added. “I am calling on everyone who can, to act by any means to save their lives. Wake up,” wrote Bennett in both Hebrew and English.

Israel’s newly appointed Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar confirmed in an official statement that he was handling the incident, directly liaising with the Israeli ambassador to the Netherlands, alongside Prime Minister Netanyahu. He also posted a hotline for Israelis and Jews in danger, urging those “in need of assistance to call one of these numbers: +97225303155, +31634138229.”

Israel’s Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon urged the global agency to condemn the pogrom. “These are the true faces of the supporters of the radical terrorism we are fighting,” he wrote. “The Western world needs to wake up now!! This is the time when the UN should immediately and clearly condemn the violence of the Palestinians and their supporters. The Dutch authorities must take decisive action against terrorism now.”

Dutch far-right leader Geert Wilders said the Netherlands had become Europe’s Gaza. “Muslims with Palestinian flags hunting down Jews. I will NOT accept that. NEVER. The authorities will be held accountable for their failure to protect the Israeli citizens. Never again,” he stressed.

Earlier Thursday, there were also clashes between Israeli fans and Dutch law enforcement in downtown Amsterdam, resulting in 10 detentions for disturbing public order and the illegal possession of fireworks. The atmosphere was already heating up before the match. On the way to the stadium, some Israeli fans were said to be chanting something like “There are no schools in Gaza because there are no more children.”

The riots occurred despite Amsterdam mayor Femke Halsema having banned an Israel-hating demonstration due to fears of clashes between demonstrators and supporters of the Israeli club.

  • Antisemitic Rioters Target Israeli Soccer Fans After Amsterdam Game, 5 Hospitalized

Antisemitic Rioters Target Israeli Soccer Fans After Amsterdam Game, 5 Hospitalized

AMSTERDAM (AP) — Amsterdam police said Friday that five people were hospitalized and 62 arrested after what authorities described as systematic violence by antisemitic rioters targeting Israeli fans following a soccer match.

The Dutch and Israeli leaders denounced the violence, and condemnation poured in from Jewish groups. Israel’s foreign minister left on an urgent diplomatic trip to the Netherlands. Security concerns have shrouded matches with Israeli teams in multiple countries over the past year because of global tensions linked to the wars in the Middle East.

The Amsterdam police said in a post on X that they have started a major investigation into multiple violent incidents. The post did not provide further details about those injured or detained in Thursday night’s violence following the Europa League match between Ajax and Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Police detain a man near the Ajax stadium after pro-Palestinian supporters marched despite a ban on pro-Palestinian demonstrations near the soccer stadium, in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Authorities said extra police would patrol Amsterdam in coming days, and security will be beefed up at Jewish institutions in the city that has a large Jewish community and was home to Jewish World War II diarist Anne Frank and her family as they hid from Nazi occupiers.

Earlier, a statement issued by the Dutch capital’s municipality, police and prosecution office said that the night “was very turbulent with several incidents of violence aimed at Maccabi supporters″ after antisemitic rioters “actively sought out Israeli supporters to attack and assault them.″

It was not immediately clear when and where violence erupted after the match.

“In several places in the city, supporters were attacked. The police had to intervene several times, protect Israeli supporters and escort them to hotels. Despite the massive police presence in the city, Israeli supporters have been injured,” the Amsterdam statement said.

“This outburst of violence toward Israeli supporters is unacceptable and cannot be defended in any way. There is no excuse for the antisemitic behavior exhibited last night,” it added.

The violence erupted despite a ban on a pro-Palestinian demonstration near the soccer stadium imposed by Amsterdam Mayor Femke Halsema, who had feared that clashes would break out between protesters and supporters of the Israeli soccer club.

There were also incidents involving fans ahead of the match. Dutch broadcaster NOS reported that a Palestinian flag was ripped off a building in the center of the city and riot police blocked pro-Palestinian supporters trying to march toward the Johan Cruyff Arena stadium where the match was being played.

Israel initially ordered that two planes be sent to the Dutch capital to bring the Israelis home, but later the prime minister’s office said it would work on “providing civil aviation solutions for the return of our citizens.″

A statement from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said that “the harsh pictures of the assault on our citizens in Amsterdam will not be overlooked,” and that Netanyahu “views the horrifying incident with utmost gravity.” He demanded that the Dutch government take “vigorous and swift action” against those involved.

Netanyahu’s office added that he had called for increased security for the Jewish community in the Netherlands.

Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof said on X that he followed reports of the violence “with horror.”

“Completely unacceptable antisemitic attacks on Israelis. I am in close contact with everyone involved,” he added, saying that he had spoken to Netanyahu and “emphasized that the perpetrators will be tracked down and prosecuted. It is now quiet in the capital.”

Security issues around hosting games against visiting Israeli teams led the Belgian soccer federation to decline to stage a men’s Nations League game in September. That game against Israel was played in Hungary with no fans in the stadium.

The violence in Amsterdam will lead to a review of security at two games this month being organized by European soccer body UEFA. France plays Israel at Stade de France near Paris next Thursday in the Nations League and Maccabi Tel Aviv’s next Europa League game is scheduled in Istanbul on Nov. 28 against Besiktas.

Ajax won the Europa League match 5-0.

Israeli soccer fans attacked in Amsterdam, with five reportedly hospitalized and dozens of suspects arrested

Amsterdam — Antisemitic rioters “actively sought out Israeli supporters to attack and assault them” after a soccer match in Amsterdam, authorities in the Netherlands said Friday, with police reporting five people hospitalized and 62 detained after a night of violence between. The police did not mention the nationality of any of those injured or arrested after the scenes of chaos in the Dutch capital.

Israel’s government said it was helping coordinate flights home for Israeli fans caught up in the violence.

Israel was “doing everything to ensure the safety and security of our citizens who were brutally attacked in the horrific anti-Semitic incident in Amsterdam,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said in a statement. “It was decided that it was not necessary to send a professional rescue mission to the Netherlands. Instead, the effort will be focused on providing civil aviation solutions for the recovery of our citizens.”

Israel’s airports authority said the first of two planes being sent to bring citizens of the country home had departed from Ben Gurion airport near Tel Aviv and was expected to arrive in Amsterdam within a few hours.

Dutch leaders also condemned the violence against the Israeli fans as antisemitic.

The attacks on fans of soccer club Maccabi Tel Aviv came after a Europa League soccer match between their team and the local Amsterdam team Ajax, but there had been clashes between the Israeli fans and locals before the game, too.

The violence erupted despite a ban on a pro-Palestinian demonstration near the soccer stadium imposed by Amsterdam Mayor Femke Halsema, who’d feared clashes would break out between protesters and supporters of the Israeli club.

The violent clashes reportedly occurred around midnight local time, with numerous fights and acts of vandalism in central Amsterdam. Before the game, many Maccabi fans were among hundreds of people marching through Amsterdam in a pro-Israel demonstration, during which flares were lit and Palestinian flags hung on some streets were reportedly torn down. There were clashes with pro-Palestinian residents before the game.

In an earlier statement, Netanyahu’s office had said that the prime minister ordered two “rescue planes” to be sent to Amseterdam to evacuate Israeli citizens, but that decision was later reversed. Netanyahu’s office also barred any members of the country’s military from flying to the Netherlands for an indefinite period.

“The harsh pictures of the assault on our citizens in Amsterdam will not be overlooked,” Netanyahu’s office said, adding that Israel’s government “views the premeditated antisemitic attack against Israeli citizens with utmost gravity.”

Netanyahu’s office demanded the Dutch government take “vigorous and swift action” against those involved.

Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof said on social media that he followed reports of the violence “with horror.”

“Completely unacceptable antisemitic attacks on Israelis. I am in close contact with everyone involved,” he added, saying he’d spoken with Netanyahu and “emphasized that the perpetrators will be tracked down and prosecuted. It is now quiet in the capital.”

In a post on the social media platform X, Israeli President Isaac Herzog Israel denounced the attacks as a “pogrom,” referring to the historic racist attacks on Jews in Russia and eastern Europe, and said they were reminiscent of the Oct. 7, 2023 attack by Hamas on Israel that sparked Israel’s ongoing wars in Gaza and Lebanon.

The Israeli Embassy in Washington said on X that “hundreds” of Maccabi fans were “ambushed and attacked in Amsterdam tonight as they left the stadium following a game,” according to AFP. The embassy blamed the violence on a “mob who targeted innocent Israelis.”

Geert Wilders, the far-right nationalist lawmaker whose Party for Freedom won elections in the Netherlands last year and who’s a staunch ally of Israel, reacted to a video apparently showing a Maccabi fan being surrounded by several men.

“Looks like a Jew hunt in the streets of Amsterdam. Arrest and deport the multicultural scum that attacked Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters in our streets. Ashamed that this can happen in The Netherlands. Totally unacceptable,” Wilders said.

Israeli soccer fans ambushed in Amsterdam after Europa League game in Netherlands

Israeli soccer fans were ambushed and brutally assaulted in Amsterdam overnight Thursday by a mob shouting “Free Palestine,” leading the Jewish state’s government to send planes to evacuate its citizens, officials said.

Hundreds of fans of the Maccabi Tel Aviv soccer club were targeted as they walked out of the stadium following a Europa League game against a Dutch team, AFC Ajax, the Israeli Embassy to the United States said.

The embassy also shared footage of the attacks, including one assailant that screamed “Free Palestine” as a victim cowered in fear.

“The mob who targeted these innocent Israelis has proudly shared their violent acts on social media,” the embassy stated.

More disturbing video shows a victim surrounded by several people, including one that appears to be holding a Palestinian flag, as a preparator kicked him to the ground. A separate assault shows a victim lying on the ground as he is kicked repeatedly.

A car also barreled into a victim, causing the man to flip over the hood of the vehicle, footage from the embassy shows.

“Israeli soccer fans should be allowed to support their team without fear of physical danger,” the embassy stated. “The days of chasing Jews down European city streets should remain in the dark annals of history.”

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu directed two rescue planes to be flown to Amsterdam to assist Israeli citizens, his office said early Friday.

Netanyahu also called on the Dutch government and authorities to take “vigorous and swift action against the rioters, and ensure the safety of our citizens.”

“The harsh pictures of the assault on our citizens in Amsterdam will not be overlooked,” the prime minister’s office tweeted.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar requested the Dutch government help Israelis reach the airport safely in a phone call with his Dutch counterpart Caspar Veldkamp Friday.

Sa’ar said at least 10 citizens were injured, CNN reported.

“The targeted attacks against Jews and Israelis in Amsterdam tonight, are horrific and barbaric. The images of the violence toward Jewish people in Europe are a painful reminder of our history,” Israel Defense Forces international spokesperson Nadav Shoshani tweeted.

“The IDF has an historic duty of protecting our people, wherever they are. We are preparing to deploy a mission to rescue Israelis from Amsterdam.”

Antisemitism has skyrocketed since Hamas terrorists carried out a deadly attack on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, leading to a wider and ongoing conflict in Gaza.

“Horrified by the attacks tonight in Amsterdam, which are terribly reminiscent of a classic pogrom. I am also deeply disturbed by how long the reported attacks lasted and call on the government to conduct a thorough investigation into security force intervention and on how these despicable attacks transpired,” Ambassador Deborah Lipstadt, of the US Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism, said in a statement.

“In terrible historical irony, this is happening two days before the grim anniversary of Reichspogromnacht in 1938, when Nazi-sanctioned and led pogroms against Jews erupted across the German Reich.”

However, Taylor displayed the same composure in his match against Abdulrashid Sadulaev that has defined his career. Reflecting on his missed opportunities in the match, Taylor acknowledged the critical need to convert his few scoring chances, especially two shots that he couldn’t capitalize on.

“I did not score on the two times I shot and he did. That was the difference,” Taylor stated while speaking to United World Wrestling understanding just how small margins can be deciding factors in elite wrestling. Fans cherishing his journey at the Tokyo Olympics were disheartened at his defeat at the U.S. Olympic Trials, and they treated this match as the last opportunity to witness Taylor on the mat. This tournament, after all, was supposed to be a curtain call for one of wrestling’s brightest stars, against the toughest opponents in his weight class.

Disheartened yet hopeful fans share two cents on David Taylor’s last dance hinges on Sadulaev’s final run

As Sadulaev inches closer to the finals, Taylor’s supporters stay hopeful for one final bout. A recent Reddit post, too, shared the news of the Russian Tank taking over Taylor, with netizens taking the opportunity to share their thoughts on the electrifying fight. One fan tried to analyze the match, highlighting that although David Taylor (DT) resorted to taking an aggressive approach against Sadulaev, he struggled to break through his defenses. They wrote, “DT took all the shots but never really got close to scoring at all. Really hoping Sadulaev goes all the way and DT gets pulled back. It would be really disappointing if that’s the last we see DT wrestle.” The commenter also seemed dissatisfied that this might be the last match of Taylor’s and that his career could unfortunately end with a loss.

Another user reflected both admiration and realistic expectations for Sadulaev’s skill. They anticipated Sadulaev’s dominance over Taylor, acknowledging his elite status and ability to perform exceptionally in high-stakes matches. The netizen commented, “Can’t wait to watch it. Not surprised about the result though, even though I was wrong on it. Sadulaev is an elite wrestler and when he shows up, he shows up. Hopefully he can stay injury free and it’ll be interesting how he does in this tournament.” However, as it appears, despite this outcome being predictable to some extent, the fan still held some uncertainty, hoping for a different result.

When Taylor attempted his initial shot, Sadulaev quickly adjusted his approach, effectively controlling the pace and neutralizing Taylor’s offense. Moreover, Abdulrashid’s defense played a strong role in nullifying the constant attacks that Taylor tried to make. “Sadulaev completely shut him down. It took one shot from Taylor at the beginning of the match for him to completely adjust to his pace.” With Taylor’s loss in the opening round, his only path to continue competing, and potentially end his career with a medal depends on Sadulaev reaching the finals. And that would pull Taylor back into the repechage.

Taylor took an unexpected retirement and chose to take up a coaching career. But then again he made a comeback to the competitive mat. However, managing both ends together probably turned out to be challenging for the athlete. One Instagram user highlighted the same: “I don’t think you can be a full-time coach and a top-level athlete at the same time. Like a lot of things in life, it’s either one or the other, you have to choose.” The commenter’s opinion threw light on the fact that elite-level wrestling demands intense training, strategic preparation, and mental focus. These commitments might clash with the time, energy, and attention required to coach effectively.

Another wrestling enthusiast after witnessing the showdown added that Taylor’s struggled to land effective offensive moves during his match against Sadulaev. More so because his attempted shots probably lacked the force or precision to disrupt Sadulaev’s defense. “Bunch of relatively weak shots from Taylor, which led to multiple go behinds from Sadulaev, who looked very fit”, read the fan’s comment.

However, fans and global viewers would now wait again to see if Taylor’s fate will deliver one more chance to showcase his prowess. His tenacity, even in the face of defeat, has reminded fans of the reasons they rally behind him. While the dream of gold at this championship might be over, the chance for a bronze still looms, and that bronze might light up his farewell journey.

Fans Complain About Poor Food And Beverage Arrangements At Dil-Luminati Concert In Delhi

After all the wait and excitement, Diljit Dosanjh fans in Delhi attended the much-awaited Dil-Luminati concert on Saturday, October 26 and Sunday, October 27, 2024. Pictures and videos of the concert and happy fans were all over social media platforms. However, some fans also expressed their disappointment with the management of the concert arrangement, especially on Day 1. Among other things, one issue that several people raised was poor food and beverage arrangements at the event. An X (formerly Twitter) user posted a picture of a crowded food and drinks stall at the premises. “Terrible arrangements at #DiljitDosanjhconcert in Delhi,” the post read.

When someone asked the user to focus on just the show, she replied, “They confiscated our water bottles at the gate. You mean that paani bhi nahi le [You mean we cannot even get water?]. From 4 pm to 10 pm.”

“Attended Diljit’s concert, and while his performance was fire, the management was a complete fail,” another X user wrote, adding, “Pre-booze is a must because alcohol was sold out even before the show started. Food was okisshly available but that also involved a lot of struggle!”

A third X user wrote, “Overall, Diljit’s performance was great. He’s truly a vibe. But the concert experience was poorly organized and definitely not worth the price tag. The management could have been much, much better.”

Elaborating on the food and beverage “chaos”, the fan continued, “With only 2 counters for a massive crowd, it was Absolute chaos. First, we had to stand in line just to buy a card. Then, another line to get an order slip at the POS, and finally, yet another line to actually get the drink. To top it off, drinks were served in glasses instead of bottles or cans, causing even more delays.”

According to the X user, beverages were unavailable after 9 pm. “After a while, a fight broke out between the management and the crowd, leading to the beverage counters being shut down. There were no drinks or even water available after 9 PM.”

Talking about not getting any refund for the leftover balance on the card, the user said, “If you added extra money to your card for food and drinks, there was no way to get a refund. Even worse, after the event ended, they only accepted cash and wouldn’t take the card. Felt like a total rip-off.”

A fan also shared a similar experience in a LinkedIn post.

“Chaos at food and drinks stalls – You should have arranged adequate facilities so people don’t have to stampede to get food and drinks. No separate queue for girls, how do you expect them to get anything in that mess,” the user wrote.

Sharing that half of the things were out of stock at the beginning of the show, the fan added, “The cards were prepaid and non-refundable, so if you can’t purchase because of this you can’t get a refund. At the beginning of the show half of the things were out of stock, why sell if you don’t have it? The food stalls closed 30 minutes before the show ended. All representatives of Zomato ran away fearing backlash from the crowd. Drinking water was not available properly.”

Diljit Dosanjh will next perform a show in Jaipur on November 2, Hyderabad on November 15, Ahmedabad on November 17 and Lucknow on November 22, among others, before concluding in Guwahati on December 29.
