Tech Millionaire Bryan Johnson Suggests Avoiding Fast Food And Choosing Indian Food

Millionaire tech entrepreneur Bryan Johnson, who is trying to reverse ageing, was in India earlier this month to promote his book ‘Don’t Die’. During his one-week trip, Johnson reportedly did not try any Indian food as he brought with him “every calorie I’ll eat for six days”. However, the tech mogul now seems to be impressed with Indian meals. In his recent X post, Johnson spoke about the goodness of Indian cuisine. He wrote, “Power is moving away from football and fast food and towards health, science, and Indian food.”

The post quickly gained attention on social media with users sharing divided views.

A user wrote, “True! The world’s shifting focus toward wellness and diverse, nutritious options-Indian food definitely deserves the spotlight!”

Another added, “Really upped my cooking game by taking your Blueprint diet and Indianizing it by making curries with lots of (healthy) spices. They go great together.”

However, some were not ready to buy the claims made by Johnson.

One asked, “Since when is naan bread healthy?”

“Isn’t Indian food traditionally so carb-heavy/protein-light?” asked a section of the audience on the social media platform.

A user wrote, “Indian food? Apart from turmeric… it’s oil, butter and fried – at least all the food I tried in India matched that description apart from lentil dishes…”

Earlier, Bryan Johnson revealed his diet plan when he was in India. His diet plan included chickpea vegetable frittata, lemon red lentil soup and vegetable stir-fry with cauliflower rice. The millionaire mentioned, “What I’m eating for the next four days.”

How To Make Street-Style Tawa Burger I Tawa Burger Recipe:

The preparation of a Street Style Tawa Burger begins by preparing the vegetable mixture that forms the heart of the patty. Start by heating some oil on a pan and sauteing finely chopped onions and ginger garlic paste. Adding chopped green chillies introduces a bit of heat, giving the burger its signature spicy kick. A variety of finely chopped vegetables like capsicum, bell peppers, carrots, cabbage, and broccoli lend a medley of colours, textures, and flavours to the patty. The vegetables are cooked together until soft, absorbing all the aromatic spices that are added next-Kashmiri red chilli powder for a mild heat and vibrant red colour, jeera powder for a touch of earthy warmth, and pav bhaji masala to provide a slightly tangy, savoury richness.

To complement the vegetables, boiled corn kernels are added to the mixture. Once everything is well-mixed and cooked, you can stir in a bit of ketchup and Schezwan chutney. To further enrich the mix, cubes of paneer (Indian cottage cheese) are added.

After cooking the vegetable mixture to perfection, the next step is assembling the Tawa Burger. The mixture is shaped into patty-like portions and cooked on a hot griddle or tawa, the method that gives the burger its signature crispy exterior. A little bit of butter is added to the pan to ensure that the patties brown nicely.

As the patties sizzle away on the tawa, it’s time to prepare the buns. These are cut in half and lightly buttered before being toasted on the tawa until they achieve a golden, crispy texture. Once the buns are ready, you can place a slice of cheese on the bottom half of each bun, which will melt slightly from the heat of the freshly cooked patty.

To assemble the Tawa Burger, a generous spoonful of the spicy vegetable patty is placed on top of the cheesy bun, followed by a few fresh coriander leaves for a burst of freshness. The top bun is then added, completing the sandwich. For an extra kick, you can spread some ketchup or additional Schezwan chutney on the top bun before closing the burger.

To give the burger a finishing touch, a tadka is prepared by heating butter and adding a pinch of Kashmiri red chilli powder. This flavorful tempering is poured over the assembled burger just before serving.

  • DC lawsuit says Amazon secretly stopped fast deliveries to 2 predominantly Black zip codes

DC lawsuit says Amazon secretly stopped fast deliveries to 2 predominantly Black zip codes

The District of Columbia is suing Amazon, saying the company secretly stopped providing its fastest delivery service to residents who live in two predominantly Black Washington neighborhoods but is still charging residents millions of dollars for a service that provides speedy deliveries.

The complaint, filed Wednesday in District of Columbia Superior Court, revolves around Amazon’s Prime membership service, which charges consumers $139 per year or $14.99 per month for fast deliveries — including one-day, two-day and same-day shipments — as well as other benefits.

In mid-2022, the lawsuit says, the Seattle-based online retailer imposed what it called a delivery “exclusion” on two zip codes in the district — 20019 and 20020 — and began relying exclusively on third-party delivery services such as UPS and the U.S. Postal Service, rather than its own delivery systems.

Amazon claims to have made the change based on concerns about driver safety, the lawsuit notes.

However, the District of Columbia’s attorney general’s office said the company never told Prime members in the two zip codes about the change even though they experienced slower deliveries as a result. Amazon also did not tell new customers about the exclusions when they signed up for Prime memberships, the lawsuit says.

“Amazon is charging tens of thousands of hard-working Ward 7 and 8 residents for an expedited delivery service it promises but does not provide,” District of Columbia Attorney General Brian Schwalb said in a statement, referencing the two areas in the city where Amazon is accused of excluding its speediest deliveries.

“While Amazon has every right to make operational changes, it cannot covertly decide that a dollar in one zip code is worth less than a dollar in another,” Schwalb said.

The lawsuit says Amazon has nearly 50,000 Prime members who live in the two zip codes, a number that represents nearly half of the population. Prime members in those neighborhoods have ordered more than 4.5 million packages in the past four years, and are more likely to rely on Amazon since they have fewer services and retail stores nearby, the city said. The area is also a notorious food desert.

The district says that in 2021, before Amazon implemented its delivery “exclusion,” more than 72% of Prime packages in the impacted zip codes were delivered within two days. But last year, it was only 24%, according to the complaint.

Meanwhile, the district’s lawsuit says Prime members who live in other parts of the city received two-day deliveries 75% of the time.

When some customers complained about the slower deliveries, Amazon concealed the true reason for the delays and “deceptively implied” that the delays “were simply due to natural fluctuations in shipping circumstances, rather than an affirmative decision by Amazon,” the lawsuit says.

District officials are asking the court to issue an order prohibiting Amazon from “engaging in unfair or deceptive practices.” They also want the company to pay restitution or damages to affected Prime members, as well as civil penalties.

The complaint filed Wednesday represents the second major legal battle between Amazon and the District, which has also filed an antitrust lawsuit against the company.

The content creator claimed to have consumed at least 8,000 calories by the end of the first day. He also mentioned experiencing adverse effects on his mental state and energy levels. After indulging in pizza, coffee, doughnuts and a variety of ultra-processed foods from the supermarket, the YouTuber admitted he felt “gross” in the end.

WALL — The Class 2A D-II No. 7 Wall football team got off to a fast start scoring 27 points in the first half of its 33-10 win over Idalou on Friday at Hawk Stadium.

In a highly-anticipated matchup between teams that could meet in the playoffs, the Hawks (5-1) never trailed against the Wildcats (4-2). The last time they faced each other was in the regional semifinal in 2022, where Wall came away with a 30-0 victory.

Wall scored on the opening possession after Idalou attempted a surprise onside kick to start the game. The Wildcats tied the game on the next possession, but the Hawks outscored Idalou 20-3 before the first half concluded. The second half was less eventful as both teams struggled with turnovers on offense. The Hawks had six total turnovers and four came in the second half. Idalou quarterback Kutter Houchin threw three interceptions after coming into the game with four on the season.

“The turnovers were scary because we definitely have not been that,” Wall coach Craig Slaughter said. “As good as our offense was last week, tonight was a really poor offensive performance and hopefully we got that one out of our system.”

York hit Reid Robertson for a 12-yard touchdown to take an early 7-0 lead.

  • The 5 Small Lifestyle Changes That Eased My Menopause Symptoms – Fast

The 5 Small Lifestyle Changes That Eased My Menopause Symptoms – Fast

Going through menopause can impact women in different ways, and coping with symptoms can be incredibly frustrating – even debilitating for some. And despite World Menopause Awareness Month kicking off this week, this stage of life can come as a surprise for many women.

I started noticing signs of perimenopause about six months ago – shortly after my 45th birthday, although, it’s tricky knowing exactly when because the symptoms are so far reaching and not always obvious. There are common indicators: hot flushes, night sweats, irregular periods, bloating, weight gain and mood swings, but also lesser known signs such as headaches, itchy skin, memory loss, muscle pain, joint stiffness, depression and reduced libido.

I was suffering from a mixture of both well known signs; hot flushes, low mood, bloating and weight gain, and other symptoms that I didn’t immediately recognise as connected to menopause, such as itchy scalp and skin, sensitive breasts, sore hips and knees, fatigue, blotchy skin, painful gums and brain fog. It took a while to figure out that I was perimenopausal, and for a couple of months I just thought I’d have to live with the symptoms, which are largely caused by the fluctuations of the sex hormone, oestrogen, during perimenopause, and the huge drop in oestrogen after menopause.

But after a few weeks of feeling like a completely different person to my usually motivated, healthy and focused self, I decided to try and tackle some of my symptoms. I’m a personal trainer, qualified PN1 nutrition coach and I have a good understanding of how the female body functions, so I decided to do some research and speak to the experts. As a result, I made some simple lifestyle changes. Three months on, these tweaks have reduced, or in some cases completely alleviated, some of my symptoms. These changes have worked for me, but as women’s bodies are so unique, they may not help everyone. Here’s what I did…

Adding a probiotic and increasing my prebiotic foods

A growing amount of research links gut health to menopause symptoms, with a recent study by science and nutrition company Zoe, which analysed over 70,000 peri and postmenopausal women, finding that a healthy diet and good gut health is associated with a reduced likelihood of experiencing menopause symptoms.

This is largely due to changes that occur in the gut during menopause and its role in oestrogen regulation. “The gut microbiome, which is made up of trillions of microscopic organisms called microbes, including bacteria, viruses and fungi, plays a role in the metabolism and circulation levels of oestrogen,” explains Katie Ward, gut specialist and managing director at Microbz, whose soil-based Women probiotic is designed with hormonal changes in mind. “Reversely, the amount of oestrogen being produced by the ovaries can impact the make-up of the gut microbiome, and with the gut also being linked to the brain, a healthy microbiome could help reduce all sorts of menopause symptoms, from bloating, gas and constipation to fatigue, hot flushes, weight gain, lowered libido and mood swings.”

For me, the easiest and quickest way to support my gut microbiome has been to cut out as many ultra-processed foods as possible, and by introducing a daily women-specific probiotic, which has helped increase the amount, and variety, of my good microbes. To keep these microbes healthy you need prebiotic foods, so I have increased the amount of berries, bananas, apples, flaxseeds, oats and nuts I’m eating – all of these foods also help boost oestrogen levels. These changes have almost alleviated my bloating and itchy skin and helped hugely with fatigue and brain fog.

Tweaking my sugar and alcohol intake

Refined sugar can cause mood swings, weight gain, bad skin, gum problems, brain fog, fatigue, hormone imbalance and also negatively effect the gut microbiome – all of which are linked to menopause symptoms. The Zoe study also found that pre-menopausal women tend to eat “more sugary foods, mostly in the form of sweets and desserts” which has definitely been the case for me. I had gone from rarely eating sugary foods to craving desserts after every meal.

17 Best Navratri Vrat Recipes | Popular Fast Recipes | Easy Vrat Recipes

Navratri 2024 Vrat Recipes- It is that time of the year again when idols of goddess Durga are decorated with kumkum, bangles, flowers, and jeweled attires. Morning prayers are offered accompanied by synchronised bells. The aroma of pure butter or desi ghee delicacies fill up the space. Navratri, one of the biggest Hindu festivals is celebrated twice a year with great fervour across the country. Devotees worship the different avatars of Goddess Durga for nine days. Goddess Durga is believed to have nine different incarnations and each female deity signifies a distinct power. The word ‘Navratri’refers to the nine auspicious nights during which Goddess Durga is worshiped and most people observe fasts. It is celebrated twice a year, at the beginning of spring and during the onset of autumn. During Navratris most people give up non-vegetarian food while many others also eliminate onion and garlic from their meals. Delicacies such as Sabudana khichdi, fruit chaat, kheer and kuttu ki poori are some of the most popular dishes cooked during the Navratri season.

Also Read: 10 Best Dishes Made With No Onion and No Garlic

Usually a large part of north, west and central India observes a fast on all nine days. Some people may choose to fast only on the first and the last day of the festive period. Fasting is a way to pay your gratitude to the Goddess. Traditionally, the consumption of alcohol and non-vegetarian food is considered inauspicious and unholy but there is also sound science behind it. During these fasts people avoid eating meat, grains, alcohol, onion, garlic etc. From an Ayurvedic perspective, these foods attract and absorb negative energies and should be avoided during a seasonal change as our bodies tend to have low immunity around that time.

Navratri festivities give you a chance to get back to the roots and deviate from the day-to-day affair. Ingredients like kuttu atta, singhara atta, fresh vegetables, milk, yogurt and makhanas are preferred as they are light on the stomach and can be digested easily. Instead of regular salt, rock salt or sendha namak is used as it is pure and unprocessed. Those who do not wish to fast may follow a vegetarian satvik diet where ingredients like garlic and onions that produce heat in the body are avoided to allow your body to detox.

‘Phenomenal’ US fast food chain unveils new menu items — including burger fans begged for

Popeyes is launching new menu items, including a twist on a classic. (Picture: Popeyes)

If there’s one thing that fast food lovers really want, it’s a good condiment to go with their burger and fries — be it mayo, ketchup, ranch, or something a little more spicy.

And it seems one fast food chain is giving its customers exactly what they’ve been asking for, adding a brand new range to its menu in the UK inspired by one of their best-selling dips.

Louisiana fried chicken brand Popeyes, which has previously been hailed as ‘phenomenal’ and ‘better than McDonald’s’, is launching a new Hot Honey range, after fans demanded more of the sauce on the menu.

Joining the line-up in restaurants and for takeaway from today, there’s a twist on the chain’s most famous product, the chicken sandwich, as well as two other items.

There’s a new Hot Honey range, including a Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich. (Picture: Popeyes)
It costs £6.99. (Picture: Courtney Pochin)

Like the others versions, the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich (£6.99) features the shatter crunch chicken breast in a brioche bun, but is drizzled in hot honey sauce, then topped with smoked cheese and pickles.

There’s also new Hot Honey Saucin’ Wings (from £5.99), which Popeyes say are ‘a must-try for fans looking to spice up their order’. These crispy chicken wings are slathered in the house-developed hot honey sauce that ‘packs a punch’.

And for those wanting a bigger meal, you can now opt for the Hot Honey Box Meal, which features the sandwich, regular fries, a regular drink, and then your choice of either two chicken tenders, three hot wings, or one-piece signature chicken for £10.99.

Dave Hoskins, head of food at Popeyes, said: ‘After seeing the love from our fans for our best-selling Hot Honey dip, we thought it was only right that we take it one step further and launch a range of new products dedicated to the flavour.

The hot honey dip is a best-seller. (Picture: LAURENCEHOWE.COM)

‘Designed to get taste buds poppin’ by combining the texture of our famous Shatter Crunchin’ chicken with sticky and sweet Hot Honey, we’re proud to be the first and only quick service restaurant in the UK to launch a Chicken Sandwich and Saucin’ Wings that pays homage to this delicious flavour trend.’

He added: We’re constantly inspired by our origins in New Orleans, and Hot Honey certainly comes with that sweet Southern kick.’

It’s not been confirmed how long exactly the new items will be on the menu for, but they are all limited-edition, so they won’t be sticking around forever. Those wanting to give them a try should be quick to do so before they’re gone.

Is the new Hot Honey range at Popeyes worth a try?

Metro.co.uk got an exclusive early taste of the new items and were impressed with the sweet and saucy range.

Platform editor, Jess Austin, thought the chicken sandwich was ‘amazing’, and declared herself officially a Popeyes convert because of it.

Similarly, Lifestyle writer Eleanor Noyce was also a big fan, describing the hot honey sauce as ‘sweet, tangy and crispy.’

Metro’s resident specialst food writer, Courtney Pochin, enjoyed it immensely, but didn’t really think it was a necessary addition to the menu.

She said: ‘Popeyes is my go-to fast food chain and while this new twist on the chicken sandwich is undeniably yummy, and has a nice warm kick, it’s got nothing on the OG version.

‘The classic is a classic for a reason, you just can’t beat it.’

This new launch comes after another popular US chain unveiled their latest menu changes.

US coffee and doughnut chain, Dunkin’ currently has 28 locations across the UK and is said to be working on an ‘aggressive extension plan’ that will double its number of shops by 2025.

Known as Dunkin’ AF (All Fall), the new autumnal menu features coffee icons such as the Pumpkin Spiced Latte which is a fan-favourite, and a brand new Matcha Pistachio Latte, both of which are available hot or iced.

The latter is described as a ‘deliciously creamy blend’ that will ‘make your taste buds dance with delight’. Dunkin’ adds: ‘It’s a totally new, totally green, and totally delicious drink that’s as good for your Instagram feed as it is for your taste buds. Trust us, this one’s going to be a game-changer.’

As well as the drinks, there are also three seasonal doughnuts (or donuts as Dunkin’ would say…) including a Candy Apple, Pumpkin Spiced Ring, and Chocolate and Pistachio Pie, which is a twist on the chain’s best-selling Hazelnut Pie option.
