Here Are 5 Easy Tips To Make Your Plate Of Momos Weight Loss-Friendly:

    1. Prepare The Dough With Atta

Typically, the dough for momos is prepared with maida (all-purpose flour). However, maida is low in fibre and high in calories, making it less nutritious. To make momos healthier, you can opt for flour such as atta (whole wheat flour). Its high fibre content and presence of essential nutrients make it a healthy swap.

    2. Be Generous With Veggies/Chicken

Whether you’re making veg momos or non-veg momos, be sure to add a generous amount of filling. Chicken is a great source of protein, whereas veggies are high in fibre. Always add extra filling and avoid adding excess oil while making them. This way, you’ll be able to savour momos totally guilt-free.

    3. Opt For Healthier Cooking Options

Momos can be cooked in a variety of ways. For weight loss, always opt for steaming. Steaming is a healthier cooking method as it retains nutrients and flavour. Plus, steamed momos tend to have fewer calories compared to fried or pan-fried momos. So, when in doubt, simply steam the momos and enjoy!

    4. Pair With Low-Calorie Accompaniments

Another thing to keep in mind is to choose low-calorie accompaniments. Most of us usually enjoy momos with a side of mayonnaise or chilli garlic sauce. However, these can be high in calories and also contain excess oil. Instead, you can relish momos with healthier alternatives such as low-calorie mayonnaise or roasted chilli oil.

    5. Exercise Portion Control

The key to enjoying momos on a weight-loss diet is to practice portion control. No matter how healthy you make them, momos still contain calories. If you consume too many, you can quickly derail from your weight loss journey. To prevent this, always enjoy them in moderation and have smaller portions.

So, the next time you plan to make momos at home, keep these easy tips in mind. Stay fit and healthy!

  • Viral Chia Seed Wraps: The Guilt-Free Recipe You Didnt Know You Needed

Viral Chia Seed Wraps: The Guilt-Free Recipe You Didnt Know You Needed

Chia seeds have gained massive popularity over the years due to their impressive nutritional profile. They are tiny but mighty, packed with protein, fibre, and essential nutrients. While many people enjoy chia seeds in smoothies or puddings, there’s a more creative way to incorporate these superfoods into your meals-by turning them into a guilt-free wrap. This unique chia seed wrap recipe combines the power of chia with the versatility of a wrap, offering a nutritious and tasty alternative to traditional bread or tortillas. The recipe was posted on the Instagram handle ‘_sunchef’ and went viral with more than a million views. Let’s see how you can make your own chia seed wrap and why it’s an excellent addition to your diet.

How To Make Chia Seeds Wrap I Chia Seeds Wrap Recipe

To make the chia seed wrap, start by mixing chia seeds, a pinch of salt, and water in a glass. Stir well to ensure everything is combined, and then let the mixture sit in the fridge for a couple of hours (up to 24 hours) until it reaches a gel-like consistency. This gel forms because chia seeds absorb water, creating a thick texture that can easily be spread out into a wrap.

Once the chia mixture is ready, heat a pan with a little olive oil. Pour the chia gel into the pan and use a spatula to spread it evenly into a thin layer. Let it cook for about 10-15 minutes, allowing the water to evaporate and the wrap to set. Once it starts to firm up, flip the wrap over and cook the other side for a couple of minutes until both sides are lightly golden.

Now, the fun part: adding your toppings! You can choose anything you like sliced turkey, fresh mozzarella or some microgreens for a light, refreshing crunch. The wrap is not only customizable but also a perfect way to enjoy a low-carb, high-protein, and high-fibre meal.

    The Benefits of Chia Seeds
Chia seeds are a nutritional powerhouse that can significantly boost your overall health. Here are some of the top benefits of incorporating chia seeds into your diet:

High in Protein: Chia seeds are an excellent plant-based source of protein. With approximately 4 grams of protein per 2 tablespoons, they provide a significant protein boost for vegetarians and vegans, helping to support muscle growth and repair.

Rich in Fiber: Chia seeds are packed with fibre, which supports digestion and helps regulate blood sugar levels. A high-fibre diet also aids in maintaining a healthy weight by keeping you full for longer, making chia seed wraps an ideal choice for a filling yet light meal.

Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Chia seeds are an abundant source of omega-3 fatty acids, which are essential for heart health. These healthy fats help reduce inflammation, lower cholesterol, and promote overall cardiovascular health.

Packed with Micronutrients: Chia seeds are loaded with important vitamins and minerals, including calcium, magnesium, and iron. These micronutrients support bone health, muscle function, and overall well-being.

Supports Hydration: Chia seeds have the unique ability to absorb up to 10 times their weight in water. This makes them great for promoting hydration, especially when mixed with water to form a gel. Consuming chia seeds can help keep your body hydrated and improve skin health.

Gluten-Free: Chia seeds are naturally gluten-free, making them a great option for those with gluten sensitivities or celiac disease. They can easily replace traditional wheat-based wraps, providing a healthier, gluten-free alternative.

The chia seed wrap is an ideal option for anyone looking to make healthier food choices without compromising on taste or texture. High in protein and fibre, this wrap offers a filling and nutritious alternative to traditional wraps or tortillas. Whether you’re enjoying it for lunch, dinner, or as a snack, the chia seed wrap can be tailored to suit your taste with a variety of toppings, making it a versatile option for any meal.

  • Healthy Sharad Navratri 2024 Fasting: 3 Food Swaps For Guilt-Free Eating

Healthy Sharad Navratri 2024 Fasting: 3 Food Swaps For Guilt-Free Eating

Navratri fasting is a time of spiritual reflection and self-purification, but it can also be a culinary challenge. It’s easy for fasting to turn into feasting, followed by a nagging sense of guilt. Many of us unknowingly make common mistakes, often believing that certain fasting foods are inherently healthy. We think of fasting as a way to detox and also lose some weight along the way. But by the end of the festival, many of us realise we actually gained weight after the fasting period.  How?!

Well, the foods that you thought were healthy and helping you lose weight did not. In an Instagram post, Nutritionist Rashi Chowdhary suggested three foods that should be swapped out for healthier alternatives.
Also Read: When Is Sharad Navratri 2024? Date, Timings, Significance And Fasting Guide

Let’s unravel two such common misconceptions and introduce smart food swaps for a healthier Navratri fasting experience.

Also Read: Sharad Navratri 2024: 10 Essential Ingredients You Must Stock In Pantry For Navratri

Here Are 3 Changes To Make In Sharad Navratri 2023 Diet For Healthy Fasting:

    Mistake 1: Sabudana Khichdi

Sabudana Khichdi, a beloved fasting dish, is a common pitfall. While it’s a Navratri favourite, it’s mostly starch, which quickly converts into glucose in the body. This can lead to rapid fluctuations in blood sugar levels, causing energy crashes and increased hunger. Sabudana is low in fibre, calorie-dense, and practically devoid of protein. During religious fasts like Navratri, it’s common to rely heavily on Sabudana-based dishes, which can lead to overconsumption of this starchy ingredient.

The Smart Swap: Samak Rice Khichdi

Instead of Sabudana, consider switching to Samak Rice Khichdi. Samak rice, also known as Barnyard millet, is a healthier, lower-starch alternative. It’s light on your stomach, has a mild flavour, and can be an excellent base for your fasting meals. This simple swap can help you avoid those pesky energy crashes and hunger pangs.

    Mistake 2: Peanuts in Everything

Peanuts find their way into many fasting recipes, often being used in a variety of dishes. However, peanuts are relatively high in fats and are not true nuts; they are legumes. Like other legumes, peanuts contain phytic acid, which can interfere with the absorption of certain minerals. Some individuals may also experience digestive discomfort when consuming large quantities of peanuts due to their relatively high fibre and fat content.

    The Smart Swap: Almonds

Almonds are a fantastic alternative to peanuts during your Navratri fasting. They are lower in fats, rich in essential nutrients, and provide a satisfying crunch to your meals. Almonds can be an excellent source of protein and good fats, making them a better choice for your fasting days.

Balanced Fasting: Avoiding the Fruit Pitfall

Many of us tend to rely solely on fruits, particularly for breakfast, during Navratri. While fruits are undoubtedly healthy, having them alone can lead to rapid spikes in blood sugar levels due to their high sugar content. This can leave you feeling hungry shortly after.

The Smart Swap: Low-Carb, High-Protein Granola

Consider swapping that morning fruit habit with a low-carb, high-protein granola recipe. This homemade granola is loaded with nuts, seeds, good fats, and protein. It provides a more balanced and satisfying start to your day, helping you maintain better blood sugar control and keep those hunger pangs at bay.

According to the nutritionist, by making these three simple swaps, you can enjoy your Sharad Navratri 2024 fasting without the burden of guilt. These nine days are not just a spiritual cleanse but can also serve as an opportunity to reduce inflammation and oxidative stress in your body.

Remember, fasting doesn’t have to be synonymous with unhealthy eating. With a little creativity and awareness, you can make nutritious choices that align with your spiritual journey and contribute to your overall well-being. So, this Sharad Navratri 2024, let’s savour the flavours of fasting with a healthy fasting diet.
