  • St. Louis high school hockey player Colin Brown dead days after he’s struck by stray bullet driving home from game with his dad

St. Louis high school hockey player Colin Brown dead days after he’s struck by stray bullet driving home from game with his dad

A 16-year-old Missouri high school hockey player died Wednesday days after a stray bullet struck him on a busy highway while he was driving home from his game with his father.

Colin Brown, a sophomore at Christian Brothers College High School (CBCHS), was sitting in the passenger seat of his father Calvin’s car when he was shot around 10:30 p.m. on Interstate 55 in South St. Louis Saturday night, according to First Alert 4.

Brown was rushed to the hospital in critical condition before he succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday afternoon.

“Colin — a beloved and talented hockey player — passed away but not before giving the ultimate gift of life,” St. Louis Metro Police Department Director of Public Affairs Mitch McCoy said. “Colin’s organs were donated to other patients who were in desperate need. This donation is an example of the type of young man Colin was and the kind of family he grew up in.”

Colin Brown succumbed to his injuries Wednesday after he was struck by a stray bullet over the weekend. Facebook

Brown joined CBCHS, one of Missouri’s most elite hockey high school programs, after transferring from Illinois in the fall. He was seven games into the season with his new school.

“He was a talented and dedicated student who was enrolled in Honors courses, and he was a valuable member of our CBC Varsity Hockey team,” CBCHS said in a statement.

McCoy said police received numerous reports from motorists and nearby residents over the gunfire.

Police believe there was a rolling gunfight as the Browns traveled in the opposite direction, according to Fox 2.

Detectives are reviewing newly acquired footage from the area as they hunt for the suspected shooter.

“This type of violence is not going to be tolerated by us,” McCoy said. “We want people to feel safe driving on the interstate and the city of St. Louis.

“To have a 16-year-old boy who just left a hockey game get shot is incredibly rare. You don’t hear about cases of innocent bystanders being hit by stray bullets here. When those acts of violence occur, we will put the entire weight of this police department into finding who did it to make sure they are held accountable.”

The NHL’s St. Louis Blues coaching staff wore “72 Strong” pins honoring Brown’s uniform number and left a hockey stick outside their locker room before their game Wednesday night.

Brown was remembered as a “talented and dedicated student who was enrolled in Honors courses.” First Alert 4

Calvin Brown expressed his gratitude to the St. Louis Police and Illinois State Police for “their continued efforts in apprehending the perpetrator(s) of this senseless crime against our beloved son, Colin” but said that St. Louis officials should make “greater efforts” to support police.

“As a family and as a former law enforcement official with over 28 years of experience, we believe that greater efforts are needed in the City of St. Louis and the surrounding region to support the police and equip them with the necessary tools to combat such senseless, violent gun crimes,” Brown said on Sunday.

The city of St. Louis saw 106 homicides through August 2024, a slight decrease from the previous year (109), according to officials.

Officials boasted about the nearly 40 percent decrease in homicides since St. Louis Mayor Tishaura O. Jones took office in April 2021.

“The death of Colin Brown is devastating news for our whole community,” Jones said. “We were all praying for a miracle and are now overwhelmed with grief, sadness, and anger that this innocent teenager’s life has been taken. As the mother of a teenage son, I grieve with all who knew and loved this man.”

Spencer Pearson shows scars from Madison Schemitz stabbing as he’s sentenced to life

The former star athlete who stabbed his ex-girlfriend and her mother in a frenzied parking lot attack in Florida last summer — before slashing his own throat — still had the scars of his suicide attempt as he appeared in court for his sentencing.

Spencer Ross Pearson, 20, was handed a life sentence on Friday after he pleaded guilty to attempted murder and aggravated battery charges in July.

His family blamed head trauma he sustained as a high school football star for the attack.

Pearson was in arrested in June 2023 after stabbing his ex-girlfriend Madison Schemitz, then 17, and her mother, Jaclyn Roge, as well as a bystander who tried to intervene outside a Ponte Vedra Beach restaurant.

The then-18-year-old had been stalking Schemitz. She was left paralyzed from the chest down in the attack, The Florida Times-Union reported.

Surveillance video of the attack shows the mother and daughter trying to leave the restaurant as Pearson follows them, eventually rushing toward Schemitz and stabbing her 15 times. Roge tried to fight off her daughter’s attacker, and was stabbed in the forehead and leg.

Spencer Pearson, 20, was sentenced to life in prison on Friday. handout

A bystander who intervened was also slashed but was able to stop the onslaught.

Pearson then slit his neck before he was taken into custody.

Both Schemitz and Pearson, as well as both of their parents, testified during the emotionally charged sentencing.

Pearson’s father blamed the attacked at traumatic brain injuries he sustained as a high school football star. Facebook

During her testimony, Schemitz said she had been thinking about this moment ever since the horrifying attack.

“June 3rd, 2023, was without a doubt the absolute worst, most traumatic day of my life. And I remember every single second of it,” she read.

Schemitz later added: “Your honor, a 17-year-old girl should not have to know the feeling of getting stabbed. Your honor, I should not have to remember the feeling of my body being inflicted with the knife over and over again. … I remember the moment I realized I was paralyzed. I remember struggling to breathe and formulate words.”

Pearson also took the stand to apologize, telling the court he “hurt three innocent people.”

“I think of my terrible crimes committed every second of every day. It’s on my mind constantly and this will never, ever change. … I can’t begin to imagine what I’ve put them through and the negative effects I’ve had on everyone involved. I understand the anger and hatred they all have for me,” he said.

Pearson’s father, Daniel Pearson, testified about the football-related head injuries his son suffered over the years, and how he and his wife found their son attempting to kill himself after he and Schemitz broke up.

Pearson, a former star football player, likely suffered head injuries that would make him more likely to act violent, doctors testified. Corey Perrine/Florida Times-Union / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images

The distraught father apologized to all three of the victims, telling his son’s ex-girlfriend, “Madison, you were always so sweet… you were such a beautiful person to be around. You were so good to our family. I’m sorry this happened to you. I think about you every day, I pray for you every day. You’re a sweet soul, you’re a beautiful person, I know that. I’m sorry.”

Doctors who testified told the court an MRI of Pearson showed evidence of multiple head injuries similar to what an NFL player might sustain and said his violent act would be more likely because of his brain injuries.

Meanwhile, Schemitz’s mother took the stand to tell Pearson he gave “Madison a life sentence on June 3rd, 2023, and it only seems fitting that you get the same.”

Pearson’s defense team sought 12 years in prison and 15 years supervision and mental health counseling. Corey Perrine/Florida Times-Union / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images

While Pearson’s defense team sought 12 years in prison followed by 15 years of supervision and mental health counseling, Judge R. Lee Smith decided on a tougher punishment.

“June 3rd of 2023, the events that unfolded on that afternoon were horrific,” Smith said. “This defendant launched a vicious attack on a 17-year-old girl … who had only weeks earlier done her part to try to save his life when he attempted suicide. The same person who tried to save his life he violently and viciously attacked.”

The judge noted that the lasting impact of Pearson’s crimes would make “any deviation below the [sentencing] guidelines is inappropriate.”

Even Jon Jones Admits He’s Not Walking Out of a Room With These Two Athletes

Everybody and their dog know at this point that Dana White thinks Jon Jones is the greatest mixed martial artist of all time. Not to mention the most dangerous as well! To illustrate this point, the UFC CEO uses a very unique hypothetical situation. The head honcho believes that if Jon Jones is locked in a room with any fighter in the world, Jones will be the only one walking out of that room.

Recently, in a recent interview with ‘Broadcast Boys’, Jones was asked about the possibility of going up against the Paul brothers, i.e. Jake Paul and Logan Paul. And ‘Bones’ had a surprising and humble answer.

“I don’t know if I would be capable of knocking them both out. I think I would get out of the scenario and maybe get away from them. They both are respectable athletes. They both grew up on the wrestling team. Jake definitely has some serious punching power. I don’t even know if I’d make it out of that one if I’m being honest,” he said.

While some feel Jones was being humble in his answer, his response does seem to hold a lot of merit. After all, as Jones pointed out, Jake Paul is no slouch and is a pretty good boxer. While he may not have been tested against a real active contender in his weight class, he is technically proficient and has knockout power to boot.

His older brother Logan, too, is an athlete, having wrestled in High School and become a veritable WWE star in recent times. While Jones will no doubt easily dispatch both Pauls individually, he would have a much much harder time dealing with them together. But right now Jake Paul is targeting another UFC superstar, trying to goad them into a fight.

Jake Paul looking to fight a bigger UFC star than Jon Jones

Jake Paul wants to fight Conor McGregor. But then again, that is old news since the former Disney star has been wanting to do that since his celebrity boxing career began. But this time around, Jake has called out ‘Mac’ for an MMA fight, with no weight restrictions!

    Article continues below this ad

“Let’s run it in MMA. No weight class. Just like how it used to be done. But you won’t,” Paul wrote in part to McGregor on X. And while the Irishman confirmed that he had indeed heard from the co-founder of Jake Paul’s promotion, he ridiculed ‘The Problem Child’s fondness for fighting old men. McGregor posted a picture of 82-year-old Republican Senator Mitch McConnell in his reply tweet and joked that the politician would be Jake’s next opponent.

Of course, this call-out is likely nothing more than Jake trying to generate headlines. After all, ‘Mac’ still has two fights left on his UFC contract. And since Dana White despises Paul, there is no chance they would allow the Dubliner to fight and make Jake a lot of money. What do you think about Jon Jones’s answer to a hypothetical fight with Jake and Logan Paul?

  • Sorry To The Laundry List Of College Football Teams Hoping To Steal Curt Cignetti Away From The Hoosiers, But He’s Officially Staying In Indiana After Signing A Massive Contract

Sorry To The Laundry List Of College Football Teams Hoping To Steal Curt Cignetti Away From The Hoosiers, But He’s Officially Staying In Indiana After Signing A Massive Contract

So much for a bye week! The grind doesn’t stop! Yesterday Indiana was making waves by announcing coveted recruits committing to the program, and now the Hoosiers drop an atomic bomb on all of us. I’m making my coffee, planning my morning, ready to have a Saturday where football isn’t the main focus, and Indiana decides to cuck the college football world by extending Curt Cignetti’s contract through the year 2032.

Indiana has had the best season in program history, hitting the 10 win benchmark for the first time ever (leaving Iowa State and Vanderbilt as the only power conference schools to not achieve double digit wins.) While Hoosier football fans have tried to enjoy the excitement, the haters have made their voices loud – enjoy it while you can, because Cignetti is GONE after this season. He’ll be coaching the Gators, or the Buckeyes by next season. Well, everyone can shut the fuck up, because he’s staying in Bloomington.

Would you rather be a legend for the rest of time at Indiana, or go to Ohio State and at best be another guy who won a title OR gets run out of town in 4 years for not meeting the fanbases expectations? (shoutout IU basketball) Cignetti chose to be a legend at a place that will appreciate him forever after completely changing the culture of the football program. For what Cig is now getting paid, leaving for another school wouldn’t make sense. His original deal was $4.5 million annually through 2029, but has now been bumped to $8 million annually to 2032. Looking at the highest paid coaches in college football, why not take a few million less to stay at a place where expectations aren’t sky high, but you clearly can be involved in a chance at the national title game? You could maybe argue resources/ facilities, but Indiana has some of the best thanks to Daddy Cuban and the Simons. Indiana has always had money, they’ve just never had a reason to spend it on the football team. AND, the facilities that are already state of the art are only getting better after IU announced a few weeks ago an expansion to memorial stadium.

Side note: maybe my biggest take away from the highest paid coaches list is Brian Kelly is a thief, and I’d much rather pay Cignetti than that red faced fuck Brian Kelly.

After years of disappointment and watching disgusting football being played, I’m still in shock every time I see this Indiana Hoosiers football team play ball. This team actually knows how to play the game. Indiana has had talented team in the past, but absolutely zero coaching. Cig is the hardass the program needed to turn things around. Preaching fundamentals and no one is bigger than the team. Where have I heard that before? Oh, Bobby Knight a man who won with less talent than any of the big name coaches out there. Here’s to hopping Cig is the Robert Montgomery Knight of the football program (with a little less assaulting players.)

Shara ‘Bullet’ Magomedov reveals he’s the champion of an insane sport that’s like ‘Bare-Knuckle’ Muay Thai but with headbutting

Fresh off his outstanding double-spinning backfist knockout at UFC 308, the undefeated Russian middleweight is already itching to get back into the action.

Yet Shara ‘Bullet’ Magomedov isn’t just a professional mixed martial artist, he’s also a Muay Thai kickboxer and a true demolition man for an insane combat sport known as ‘Lethwei’.

Shara Magomedov reveals he’s the reigning Eurasian Lethwei champion

In conversation with Red Corner MMA earlier this week, the undefeated UFC middleweight contender revealed that he remains the regional champion for something called ‘Lethwei’ – also known as Burmese Boxing.

A truly insane sport, research suggests that Lethwei might have originated in Myanmar (Burma) around 1,000 years ago, but one thing that everyone agrees upon is that it’s easily one of the most brutal combat sports out there.

Don’t just take our word for it: In sanctioned Lethwei bouts, fighters can use knees, elbows, kicks and punches as you would otherwise expect, but it’s also completely legal to headbutt your opponent unconscious.

“Yes, I am officially the current Eurasian champion in Lethwei, it’s almost like Bare-Knuckle [where] they just wrap your hands, [but] you can also headbutt your opponent.

“This sport is as hard as it gets, slightly different from Muay Thai,” stated the undefeated UFC star-in-the-making.

In fact, not only can you headbutt your opponent, but it’s actually considered to be a key part of a fighter’s arsenal and is the reason why the sport is known as the ‘Art of Nine Limbs’.

“Muay Thai is one of the toughest sports, but I believe Lethwei is the toughest one [of all],” argued Magomedov, claiming that he’s only competed in the sport a handful of times, albeit with devastating results.

“I think five or six [fights], I got the finish in all of them – they give your opponent two minutes to recover but it wasn’t enough for them.”

Whilst footage of Magomedov’s Lethwei career is scarce, there are a few videos showing highlights of his time dishing out the damage… It’s safe to say that wherever ‘Bullet’ goes, carnage follows.

Shara ‘Bullet’ wants MVP next after the UFC told him to pump the brakes

During that same interview with Red Corner MMA, Magomedov also discussed what’s next regarding his UFC career and suggested that his next opponent could be either Michael ‘Venom’ Page or Paulo Costa.

“I’d like to fight them both, I’d be happy to share the octagon with them… [But] Page is a better option because Costa isn’t consistent enough.

“He pulls out quite often, and I don’t want to sit and wait for a fight too long… A fight is like a party for me, so when it falls through, the party is spoiled.”

According to Magomedov’s manager, his return to action is expected to take place at UFC Saudi Arabia on February 1, 2025.

This, after ‘Bullet’ was told that he should take some time off by the promotion: “I wanted to fight in Macau next [on November 23] but the UFC insisted I should take some time off, get hungry.”

Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has been spotted back in a football stadium for the first time since his sacking earlier this week.

The Dutchman’s reign as United boss ended on Monday morning following their controversial 2-1 defeat by West Ham.

Ten Hag’s two-and-a-half years at Old Trafford yielded FA Cup and Carabao Cup honours but his side underperformed in the league, especially in his final full season, which ended with club finishing eighth – their lowest-ever position in the Premier League.

Ten Hag swiftly jetted back home to the Netherlands following his dismissal and he has now been spotted attending a match in the Dutch Eredivisie between Heracles Almelo and NAC Breda.

The 54-year-old was on hand to witness the home side claim a 2-0 win thanks to a brace from Brian De Keersmaecker at the Erve Asito stadium.

‘Dear fans, Let me start by thanking you.’ He said. ‘Thank you for always being there for the club. Whether it was at a game far away or a tough match at Old Trafford, your support has been unshakeable.

‘The atmosphere at Old Trafford has always been electrifying, thanks to you. I felt it many times. Also in away games, it gave the team and me an incredible feeling to hear the United chants taking over the opponents stadiums, whether the game was in England. Europe or during the summer tours.

‘I always enjoyed meeting Manchester United fans throughout the world. Walking the streets and being able to chat with fans in England, Europe, Asia, Australia, the USA – you inspired me and radiated a strong sense of unity. That’s what makes United supporters so special.

‘I want to thank you for giving me this feeling and for your support. I also want to thank the staff in every department of the club for their unwavering support in good times and bad.

‘We won two trophies – achievements that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Of course, my dream was to bring more trophies to the cabinet. Unfortunately, that dream has come to an end.

‘I wish all Manchester United fans nothing but success, trophies and glory. Your support and the warmth I received from everyone at the club helped me feel at home. Thank you for this chapter in my life.’

  • Stephen A Smith Went In On Kawhi Leonard (Again) And Now Suggests He’s The Worst Superstar In The History Of Any Sport

Stephen A Smith Went In On Kawhi Leonard (Again) And Now Suggests He’s The Worst Superstar In The History Of Any Sport

    Jacob Kupferman. Getty Images.

You know what? I’m starting to think Stephen A isn’t the biggest fan of Kawhi Leonard. We all know about Skip vs LeBron, but now that LeBron’s career is winding down and Skip isn’t on TV at the moment, perhaps Stephen A vs Kawhi is poised to take its place as one of the weirdest media vs NBA player beefs we have?

You’ll remember back in April 2023 Stephen A went on a rant suggesting Kawhi was the worst superstar in the history of basketball, and the reasons he listed for it were rather insane

One second his injuries are legit, the next second it’s bullshit he missed time due to his injuries. His demeanor? What? Things start to fall apart pretty quickly when you actually listen to his reasoning and then you compare it to other NBA players who have dealt with many of the same issues. It was a tad bizarre.

Well, after another Kawhi injury issue where nobody seems to have any legit idea when he’s going to see the floor again for the Clippers, Stephen A is not only back, but he’s ready to take it up a notch

Forget being the worst superstar in the history of basketball (not true), now Kawhi is the worst superstar in the history of any sport. I mean, on one hand, I respect Stephen A for being committed to this bit in the same way it is somewhat impressive how Skip has been able to hate on LeBron for 20+ years, but also…..what the hell is Stephen A talking about?

A superstar used their leverage in the open market to successfully build the team he wants? How is that different from literally any other superstar who has been in Kawhi’s position? Teams didn’t cater to whatever KD wanted during his free agency? Or LeBron? Raging that the Clippers had to trade SGA to bring in Paul George and Kawhi is insane to me. No shit they had to include good players! Kawhi had just won a title and George was one of the best two way players in the league. Guess what, that costs something! Just because SGA turned into the SGA we see now isn’t somehow Kawhi’s fault. Unfortunately NBA GMs can’t use hindsight when deciding whether or not to make a trade. Crazy, I know.

It’s also not Kawhi’s job to make sure George got his own deal? That’s why there are agents. George has just as much injury risk as Kawhi, and when both are healthy he’s not as good as Kawhi, so the Clippers obviously didn’t see them the same. That’s Kawhi’s fault? To then suck the dick of LeBron like he hasn’t had his own roster demands, gotten coaches fired, gotten players traded, thrown teammates under the bus etc was crazy. Yes, LeBron is available and he plays. That’s a testament to the work he puts in and the fact that he’s a freak of nature, but it’s not like Kawhi is asking to get hurt or is choosing to not play. Some guys just can’t shake the injury bug. It’s happened to stars all throughout NBA history.

It really makes you wonder what has happened that has sparked this level of hatred. Did Stephen A get burned on a story? Is he mad that Kawhi’s camp doesn’t talk to him? There’s got to be something more than just “Kawhi is hurt and he forced the Clippers to give up a lot to bring him in” if you’re going to suggest that this guy

is the worst superstar in the history of any sport. That just doesn’t make any legitimate sense. It’s almost as if Stephen A was making his speech at the Playa Haters’ Ball or something. That’s the vibe I get listening to these rants

Moment drug dealer nicknamed the ‘nakedotter’ is arrested in his PANTS after posing as a successful businessman living a luxury lifestyle – as he’s locked up for 12 years

This is the stunning moment a drug lord nicknamed the ‘nakedotter’ was arrested in his pants after police stormed his home in a daring early-morning raid.

Anthony Davies, 38, was jailed for 12 years after flooding the Cheshire town of Widnes with class A and B narcotics.

He had posed as a businessman and reveled in his luxury lifestyle – buying books on property as he posed as an entrepreneur.

When his home was raided cops seized six fake Rolex watches, an array of designer clothing and sunglasses, over £5,000 in cryptocurrency and £6,000 in cash.

In footage of his arrest, Davies can be seen looking sleepy-eyed in tight black underwear after police smashed through the door of his plush suburban home.

The dejected dealer has been cuffed by a masked officer, and appears sadly acceptant as he sits alone on his bed after his crimes have been read out.

Boxer-clad Davies was exposed as a drug dealer after cops infiltrated his EncroChat network – a secretive communications software used by organised gangs before it was cracked in 2020.

He was found to have sourced, purchased and sold at least five kilograms of cannabis and a minimum of 15 kilograms of heroin and cocaine between 23 March 2020 to 5 June 2020.

He made more than £60,000 for sourcing and selling five kilograms of cocaine in one transaction alone.

Messages show him playing a leading role in buying and supplying drugs across Widnes and other towns and cities across the UK.

He would also act as a ‘middleman’ within the supply network, arranging for the sale and distribution of drugs between potential buyers and sellers.

In what cops have described as a ‘hands off’ role, he would direct others to carry out his bidding while reaping the profits.

He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply heroin, cocaine, and cannabis at Liverpool Crown Court, where he was sentenced to 12 years.

Detective Chief Inspector Nick Henderson, of the Serious and Organised Crime Unit, said: ‘Davies was at the top of the chain when it came to operating in serious and organised crime.

‘He was at the highest level running a serious and large-scale commercial drugs business supplying substantial amounts of cocaine, heroin, and cannabis.

‘He chose to do this by operating under the radar, using an encrypted and sophisticated device that would keep his communication secretive in order to avoid detection.

‘He painted himself as a successful business man and even bought books on property investment, but in reality, it was all an illusion. His Rolex watches were fake, and he was unable to use his money in any legitimate way.

‘After EncroChat was infiltrated officers were able to comb through the messages attributed to Davies that led to his arrest and being put behind bars for a long time.’

An Audi SUV is parked outside the property on Lessingham Road, which has manicured lawns and hosts homes that sell for more than £350,000.

Disabled boy who has a life expectancy of just 30 is left shattered as he’s BANNED from taking part in his favourite sport

    • Brodie Pankhurst, 12, has Duchenne muscular dystrophy
    • Recently banned from competing with show horses
    • Decision handed down by NSW Arabian Horse Association
    • Felt safety of  ‘other horses and competitors’ was compromised

A disabled boy has been left shattered after he was banned from taking part in his favourite sport due to a recent rule change.

Sydney-based Brodie Pankhurst, 12, has Duchenne muscular dystrophy, which gradually weakens the muscles in his body.

He has been competing with show horses – but his main joy in life has now been ripped away from him.

It comes after the NSW Arabian Horse Association opted to implement a new rule banning all wheeled vehicles in competitions.

Competitors are also required to wear helmets, which has stopped Brodie from taking part.

His distraught mother Mel Millard labelled the recent rule change ‘heartbreaking’.

Brodie also has a life expectancy of just 30.

‘It’s a struggle given he can’t do it forever,’ Mrs Millard told Channel Nine’s Today show on Wednesday.

‘Obviously with his wheelchair… with his setup he can’t wear a helmet because of his [lack of muscular] support.

‘It’s heartbreaking, he’s a 12-year-old boy… let him go out and do what he loves.’

Ms Millard also told Today co-hosts Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo that the family has endured ‘discrimination issues’ due to ‘supposed safety concerns’.

Brodie himself said the ban was ‘unfair’ and that leading his two horses around – Promise and Ruby – ‘gives me stuff to do.’

Ms Millard added it would be great to see her son ‘doing what he loves without being harassed.’

She was informed by the NSW Arabian Horse Association that the rule was implemented with the ‘safety of other horses and competitors’ in mind.

It is also understood Ms Millard’s daughter has been stood down from competing unless looming legal proceedings are withdrawn.
