    4. Avoid food wastage:

This is something we should always keep in mind – avoid food wastage! Instead of cooking in bulk and wasting them eventually, try to use leftover foods as much as possible. Also, use rotten fruits and vegetables as fertilizer for your kitchen garden instead of tossing them completely.

    5. Include Indigenous grains and pulses:

Today, we have seen people shifting from fancy ingredients to local ones. Infact, food products like millet, different types of legumes, grains, ragi etc are in trend today. So, we suggest experimenting with such indigenous food products to make your meals more nutritious and affordable at the same time.

  • 5 Mistakes To Avoid While Making Oh-So-Delicious White Butter At Home

5 Mistakes To Avoid While Making Oh-So-Delicious White Butter At Home

Food has a way of hitting us right in the feels, doesn’t it? Just the other day, I got a taste of that nostalgic magic. A friend had me over for a classic Sunday breakfast, and as I waited for my hot aloo paratha, my eyes locked on a bowl stacked high with white butter. When the paratha hit my plate, I didn’t think twice – I slathered on that white butter like it was nobody’s business. White butter, or “makhan” as many of us know it, is pure childhood on a plate. With everyone jumping on the health-conscious bandwagon, store-bought stuff is getting the cold shoulder… which is why, white butter is making a comeback! It’s fresh, it’s natural, and it’s just irresistible. But, if you’re new to cooking, you’ll want to avoid a few mistakes that could mess up your butter (and those sweet memories!). Fret not, you’re in the right place. We’ve got a list of mistakes you need to avoid when making white butter at home.

Here are 5 Mistakes To Avoid While Making White Butter

    1. Using Cold Cream

To make white butter at home, you need malai or cream. We usually keep the malai refrigerated to prevent it from going bad. However, one of the most common mistakes to do while making while making white butter at home is using the cold cream straight from the fridge. Cold cream is harder to churn and takes a longer time to separate into butter and buttermilk. On the other hand, room-temperature cream takes less time to separate. So, the next time you are making white butter at home, make sure to take the cream out of the fridge at least 30 minutes before making the butter.

    2. Over Churning The Cream

Not just the temperature but how you churn the cream can also affect your desired result. Over-churning the room-temperature cream can make your smooth and fluffy white butter into a greasy mess. A simple step to remember while making white butter at home is to stop when you see the butter separate from the buttermilk. It might seem good when you are in the process, especially if you are new, but over-churning the butter can break the fats and make your butter too thick. After all, you want a light butter which easily spreads on your parathas, right?

    3. Not Washing The Butter

No, washing the butter won’t ruin your butter but save it. Once the butter and buttermilk have separated, it is best to wash it with cold water to remove any remaining buttermilk. This is important since leftover buttermilk can quickly spoil and give the butter a bitter taste. Many people skip this step or don’t wash the butter properly, which leads to a shorter shelf life or ruined flavour. A simple tip to wash the butter is to keep doing it until the water runs clear. This would extend its shelf life without ruining its taste.

    4. Using Incorrect Tools

The tools that you use to make white butter at home can affect how your end product would be. Is the blender that you are using have weak blades? Does your hand whisk stop in the middle of the process? Then ditch them while making butter at home as this could result in uneven churning, meaning uneven butter. If you are new to the process, use a firm mixer with tight blades. This will give you the correct texture and flavour of the white butter.

    5. Not Storing It Properly

Sure, you have put all the effort into making the most delicious and fresh white butter, but how will you store it? Proper storage of white butter is extremely important to make the most of its taste. As soon as you make it, make sure to store it in an airtight container. Unlike salt, market-bought butter, white butter has the tendency to absorb surrounding smells and odours. So, it is best to wrap it in a parchment or butter paper and store it in an airtight container. This will ensure it remains pure and creamy, just the way we like it!

Home and Away lovers Emily Weir and Tristan Gorey considered leaving the show following their co-star’s shock death

Home and Away stars Emily Weir and Tristan Gorey have made the bombshell admission they considered leaving the series following a recent shock death on the show.

The pair play lovebirds Mackenzie and Levi on the series, and admitted they were affected by the recent character death of Felicity Newman, played by Jacqui Purvis.

‘I don’t ever want Mackenzie to die. I want her to leave the Bay, so there’s always a place where I can come back to,’ Emily, 33, told Yahoo Lifestyle.

The brunette bombshell added if her character had to die she would like it to be in a very dramatic and memorable manner.

‘If I had to, I’d love to be in a gunfight or something really left of field. Really do some martial arts, like a fight scene or something.’

Tristan, 29, added he would like his honourable character to take a villainous turn shortly before his on-screen death.

‘I feel like Dr Levi should turn bad and then he’s chasing after Mackenzie and she’s running away, and then he just trips and falls and hits his head,’ he joked.

Last month, fans were left devastated when fan-favourite character Felicity Newman, played by Jacqui Purvis, collapsed in shock scenes.

In the clip which had fans in tears, Felicity suddenly fell to the ground when her vision went blurry during an emotional conversation with ex-husband Tane Parata.

The character was then rushed to hospital in critical condition, as promos confirmed she will die and actress Jacqui will move on from Summer Bay.

‘One of the best actresses Home and Away has ever had,’ one Instagram user said of Jacqui, 33, who has been on the Channel Seven soap drama for three years.

The soap star recently reflected about her stint on the show with Yahoo Lifestyle: ‘I’ve had an incredible time on the show. Some of the best years of my life.

‘However, I knew I wanted an international career, so, I had to make the decision to leave and take the plunge.

‘I owe so much to the show, [and] because of it, I feel confident and ready to take on the international stage.’

Australian actress Jacqui is known for her roles in Home and Away, Neighbours, A Lion Returns, and Undertow, but wishes to make it big in Hollywood.

She intends to jet off to Hollywood soon in pursuit of worldwide fame, following in the footsteps of ex-soap stars Chris Hemsworth, Isla Fisher and Samara Weaving.

When it comes to snacks, we all have certain favourites. Then, there are some snacks that are equally loved by all – one such snack is the quintessential samosa. But wait – what if we told you that you could make samosa at home in all of 10 minutes? Yes, you heard that right! It’s entirely possible, and the results are truly spectacular. What Is So Unique About Bread Samosa?

The dough of this samosa is prepared with bread slices instead of regular dough. This minimises the lengthy process of preparing the dough, thus making it ideal for times when you’re looking for a quick snack. Plus, this bread samosa is air-fried instead of using the traditional deep-frying method, thereby reducing the calorie count by a significant amount.

How To Ensure Bread Samosa Turns Out Crispy?

To make perfectly crispy bread samosas, there are a few things you need to keep in mind. Firstly, ensure you don’t overfill the samosa with the aloo filling. This can easily cause it to crack, resulting in uneven cooking. Secondly, avoid placing too many samosas in the air fryer basket at once. By doing so, there is a high chance of them sticking together, thus altering the texture. Lastly, make sure to cook the samosas for a sufficient amount of time, or else the bread won’t be as crispy.

How To Make Samosa With Leftover Bread | Easy Samosa Recipe

Making this samosa at home is incredibly easy. Start by preparing the filling for the samosa. For this, heat oil in a pan and add cumin, chopped ginger, and green chillies. Saute well. Now, add the boiled peas and potatoes along with red chilli powder, amchoor powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, black pepper, salt, and fresh coriander. Keep aside. Next, cut the edges off the bread slices and roll them out using a rolling pin. Cut each bread slice into two halves, and fold it in such a way that it makes a cone shape. Stuff the bread cone with the prepared aloo filling and air fry in a preheated air fryer for about 8 to 12 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Serve hot with pudina chutney and enjoy!

Home And Away star admits she ‘isn’t proud’ of controversial time on the show: ‘It’s difficult’

Former Home and Away star Tammin Sursok has opened up about her time on the beloved soap.

And in a surprising revelation, the 41-year-old has said she now has regrets about a controversial storyline that sent shock waves through Summer Bay.

The dramatic narrative involved Tammin’s character Dani Sutherland dealing with the aftermath of a horrific sexual assault.

As the story line developed, Tammin’s character had to watch her rapist, Kane played by actor Sam Atwell, marry her on screen sister Kirsty (actress Christie Hayes).

Tammin, who played Dani for four years between 2000 and 2004, has revealed that the producers filmed the rape storyline twice to make it suitable for the time slot.

She has said the results were ‘not great’.

‘What I thought was difficult was we reshot that entire two weeks because I gave too much of a realistic performance,’ Tammin told Yahoo Lifestyle on Friday.

Describing the process as ‘difficult’ she continued: ‘It was the first time in my career I realised that it doesn’t matter if you think you’re good, it has to matter for the whole of the system. And sometimes what you want, isn’t going to be what they show.’

‘That’s sometimes difficult as an actor, because you do scenes and you feel like you’ve killed it, and you watch the TV show back and you don’t even remember shooting that crappy take used.’

Elsewhere in the chat Tammin said she did not think what ended up on screen was ‘crappy’ but explained that it was hard to deal with because fans saw something which she says ‘I wasn’t as proud of’.

She added that Home and Away were ‘pioneers’ in dealing with the theme of sexual assault.

Dani won a Logie Award for Most Popular Female Talent in 2001, the same year that the storyline aired.

  • For months, Lauren waited patiently at home while The Block’s heartthrob Ricky Recard finished filming so the lovers could fly off on a romantic trip to Mexico. But when he returned, he broke her heart instead

For months, Lauren waited patiently at home while The Block’s heartthrob Ricky Recard finished filming so the lovers could fly off on a romantic trip to Mexico. But when he returned, he broke her heart instead

The Block’s heartthrob Ricky Recard has been branded a love rat by his jilted ex after he dumped her on the eve of their dream trip overseas to hook up with a married make-up artist he met on the show.

The 34-year-old plumber broke up with Lauren Smith after she had waited three months at home for him while he filmed the new series of Nine’s reno show on Phillip Island.

Just days after the split, he revealed he was now dating married mother-of-two Erin Lee who had broken up with her heartbroken husband to be with the show’s star.

To add insult to injury, Recard jetted stright off on holiday with his new lover, leaving Lauren to go on their romantic getaway to Mexico for her 30th by herself.

‘I was absolutely blindsided,’ she told Daily Mail Australia.

‘I spent three months looking after his dogs and his house while also helping his employee with the business.’

Ms Smith said the couple had an overseas holiday arranged to celebrate her milestone birthday, which would have been the first trip away from her young daughter.

‘We were due to go at the beginning of July for my 30th birthday but we broke up about two weeks after he got back from filming,’ she said.

‘I found out while I was in Mexico that he had apparently begun a relationship with Erin during the time I was away.’

Recard, from Melbourne, has proudly boasted of his budding relationship with 40-year-old mum-of-two on social media.

The couple flew to Port Douglas in Far North Queensland last month and ‘hard launched’ their relationship on his private Instagram page.

He posted an image of the couple together with the caption: ‘Beach time with this stunner.’

On Thursday Ms Lee also shared of her with Recard, with the message: ‘Sometimes the path we never planned leads us to brighter things and the happiness we always needed.

    ‘Trust the journey.’

Ms Lee’s estranged husband Lucas Day – who is a lookalike for love rival Recard – insists his wife only hooked up with the Block tradie after their marriage ended

‘We are separated now and I’ve dealt with it,’ he told Daily Mail Australia.

‘They got together after we split when he got back from Mexico in July and we were done then.’

Day also agreed he bears a striking resemblance to Ms Lee’s new lover, calling the similarity between the pair as ‘strange’.

‘It is a bit strange, it definitely is,’ he said.

In a recent interview with New Idea, Recard confirmed his new lover, but didn’t identify her.

Biazrrely though, despite her working as a make-up artist on The Block, he claimed she not know of his role on the show.

‘I can definitely say she was impressed, and why wouldn’t she be?’ he said.

‘The reason why she was impressed was not because I’m on The Block. She thinks it’s pretty funny.

‘She didn’t know I was on The Block when we started seeing each other.’

He even claimed she poked fun at him and joked she was now dating ‘someone famous’.

Recard also responded to viewers who have called him the heartthrob on this year’s hotly-anticipated 20th anniversary series.

He has won female fans, with many viewers naming him their all-time celebrity crush as they swooned over his rugged looks.

Fans have also been left charmed by his positive attitude and cheeky sense of humour, taking to social media to claim Ricky’s Yellow Team as their favourites.

The plumber laughed off being called a celebrity crush as he insisted he is not famous enough to be given the label.

‘I don’t know if I consider myself a celebrity, seriously,’ he told Yahoo Lifestyle.

‘I think as a celebrity, you’ve got to have a fair resume, right? Like Shelley [Craft], she’s got The List – Saturday Disney for years, Funniest Home Videos, The Block.

‘She’s an Australian icon and I’m just an absolute nobody. But if people want to have a crush on me, that’s cool. I appreciate the love.’

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Recard and Nine Network for comment.
