    • Double amputee Billy Monger smashed Ironman record
    • Monger lost both his legs after a near-fatal car accident in 2017

Former racing driver Billy Monger lost both his legs following a crash in 2017 and now he has stunned the sporting world by smashing the Ironman record for a double amputee at the World Championship in Hawaii.

Monger, 25, bested the previous Ironman record by two hours, three minutes and three seconds in an astonishing time of 14 hours 23 minutes 56 seconds.

He yelled triumphantly as he crossed the finish line after completing the gruelling 226.3km (65-mile) course.

‘What a day! That was the longest day of my life – I just felt so much love out on the course; that was a really special day,’ he said after finishing.

‘All that hard work finally paid off and it couldn’t have gone better, everything came together in a really good way.

‘There were a few moments – getting stung by jellyfish and getting a cut on my run socket but all things considered, issues we could have had, I am absolutely chuffed.

‘It was a race I couldn’t have dreamed of. My support team as always are absolutely amazing and so big thanks to them and of course the public’s support, I hope you guys have loved the journey as much as I have and we are an IRONMAN!

‘A course record by two hours? That’ll do!!’

Monger began racing aged just six, but in April 2017 at a British F4 race he was left with life-changing injuries that resulted in the amputation of both his legs.

However, he was back at the wheel within a year and has now been training for several years in triathlon.

His inspirational recovery saw him crowned BBC Sports Personality of the Year Helen Rollason Award in 2018 for outstanding achievement in the face of adversity.

Now a TV presenter, Monger is concentrating his efforts on raising funds for charity.

‘Right now I feel an overwhelming sense of relief that he’s crossed the finish line. When he committed to this challenge, I knew he would apply himself, driven by those he can help with Comic Relief.’

‘Incredible being in the room with Jordan, Bird, Johnston, but the one who I was super excited about was getting a pic with Bill Murray – who told me he used to love watching me play and then went into a spiel about the way I played,’ a shocked Timms said.

Recently, Klopp’s fortune has been estimated at around £42m

Instead of locking horns with Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta, Klopp, 57, is looking healthier than ever with a glowing tan.

He has settled in his stunning Mallorca home he splashed £3.4million on and is enjoying time with wife, Ulla.

Klopp, who joined Instagram back in May, has been sharing his lifestyle with his fans.

His plans for his lavish villa create “an ecological family paradise” there.

That’s certainly more relaxing for the man who gave his all to the Reds and walked away because he was “running out of energy”.

Revealing why Mallorca caught his eye, he told the podcast Willipedia via Bild: “I’ve dreamed of having a house in the south all my life. I like the weather, the climate, I like the people.

“There are lots of things I like here and also people I already know. It’s not like I’m looking for new friends. I already have friends for life, and if some of them are here too, that’s cool.”

However, he made it clear he wasn’t going to stay in Mallorca all year round.

“I don’t want to emigrate. We go on holiday here every now and then,” Klopp added.

“But when I’m here, I want everything to be as I know it.

“That’s totally boring but the point is that I want to get to know a different life, but not somewhere in the jungle or on the mountain.”

Klopp has even found himself a new hobby – playing padel tennis while on the Balearic Island.

In the meantime, after recharging his batteries, Klopp has accepted a return to football with the Red Bull group.

He will take on an advisory role, worth a reported £10million-per-year, offering his insight into teams including RB Leipzig, RB Salzburg and New York Red Bulls.

It’s believed his fortune stands at around the £42million mark, with Liverpool paying him handsomely and endorsement deals with brands such as Opel, Erdinger, VR-Bank, Snickers, Deutsche Vermogensberatung, Puma and Adidas adding to his bank balance.

Back in 2022, the German icon paid £3.4million for his Mallorcan villa – buying it off Swiss businessmen and artist Rolf Knie.

His first job was to completely renovate the 5,000-square metre property property.

As reported by German outlet Bild, Klopp turned the villa into a low-energy house with a unique interconnected heating and air conditioning system.

The systems work with a computer to make sure the temperature in the house stays the same, regardless of the weather conditions outside.

Futuristically, all electrical devices and appliances are controlled by using an app.

The idea behind the changes is to use less electricity, and the transformation is believed to reduce consumption by up to 75 per cent.

Not skimping on the property’s grounds, Klopp hired a company who designed the garden of the five-star Son Bunyola hotel owned by Virgin supremo Sir Richard Branson to tend to his.

    Spending his time wisely

Being a former footballer who thrives on competition, Jurgen wasn’t going to completely give up on sport.

In his later years at Liverpool, he insisted on installing a padel court at the club’s Melwood training ground.

WWE legend Bill Goldberg gave a combat sports legend incredible advice while walking him to the cage at ONE 168

WWE icon, Bill Goldberg, told Liam Harrison an inspiring story in the moments before his fight with Seksan at ONE 168.

The former wrestler hyped up the 8x Muay Thai world champion, while walking him to the cage for one of the biggest fights of his career.

Bill Goldberg gives Liam Harrison words of wisdom before fight with Seksan at ONE 168

On Friday evening, Liam Harrison went head-to-head with Seksan Or. Kwanmuang in a clash of two of the greatest Muay Thai fighters to have ever graced the sport.

And if the Brit wasn’t already fuelled for the bout, he was given an extra push by WWE Hall of Famer, Bill Goldberg.

After watching Harrison defeat Malaipet Sasiprapa in Los Angeles in 2015, the wrestling icon went out of his way to introduce himself to the Leeds fighter, and the pair have remained close ever since.

The duo even engaged in some training during fight week for ONE 168, with Harrison teaching the powerhouse the ropes of Muay Thai.

Sheesh: ‘Do you care today?’… UFC legend questions whether Jorge Masvidal can still be a star

Therefore, it only made sense for Goldberg to walk ‘The Hitman’ to the cage for his major bout inside the Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado.

While Harrison marched towards his rival, the 285lbs monster, delivered a powerful speech to motivate his friend to put on the performance of a lifetime.

He exclaimed: “I had doubt about myself one time before I walked in the ring. I picked up the phone and called a friend of mine, and he said, ‘You’re Bill f***ing Goldberg’. You’re Liam, motherf***ing Harrison. That’s all you need. Go out and bash his brains in. Do what you do.”

Despite not emerging victorious, Goldberg’s words clearly made an impact as Harrison produced one of the bravest performances ONE Championship has ever seen.

Even in the face of getting knocked down twice, he kept on swinging, doing everything in his power to land a knockout blow of his own, before ultimately hitting the canvas for a third time.

So, if that’s the final time we see him compete, he certainly went out with a bang.

Liam Harrison leaves his gloves in the center of the cage after brutal loss at ONE 168

As great fighters often do, following the end of the contest, the Englishman left his gloves in the cage, signaling a potential retirement from the sport.

Having set the world alight, and pioneered a new wave of British Muay Thai fighters, Harrison has undeniably carved his legacy in stone.

However, while his post-fight actions indicated the end, he later flirted with the possibility of one final roll of the dice, revealing the location where he’d like to say goodbye to combat sports.
