A father-son biker duo recently posted a reel about their experience drinking fresh sugarcane juice in Goa and it has won many hearts. In the video shared by @mrdarcyandtheolman, the younger man of the pair explains that they decided to stop at the side of the road during their biking trip because they spotted a stall selling sugarcane juice. “I absolutely love this. It’s literally a drink made from pure sugar cane. I could drink this every day,” he declares. Someone off-camera, possibly his father, notes that the stall he has stopped at “looks quite clean.” The son agrees and adds that it seems like there’s a new machine (for juicing the sugar cane) at the stall.
As the video proceeds, we get glimpses of the refreshing drink being prepared. Later, the man shows off his tall glass of freshly squeezed juice with a natural layer of froth on top. He takes a sip and gives his verdict: “That’s bliss. So good, so good.” His father also relishes the juice. He says, “It’s sweet. It’s tasty. It’s not like drinking refined sugar. It’s got a more intricate and slightly lemon-ish flavour. Well, they probably put lemon in it.”
In the caption, he wrote, “My new favourite drink. In India, you will often come across sugar cane drink stalls on the side of the road. We came across this one whilst travelling to Panaji on the Royal Enfields. It’s a delicious drink made by pressing sugar cane through a machine press and collecting the juice that gets squeezed out, and it’s safe to say it’s absolutely delicious!” Watch the complete video below.
The viral video has received a lot of interest online. In the comments, many people echoed the bikers’ sentiments about sugarcane juice being delicious. Some shared tips on how to enhance its taste further or use it to make other types of drinks. Read a few of the reactions from Instagram below:
“Add some salt to it, it will taste even better.”
“Add a little bit of salt on top of it, black salt is even better!”
“Lime and ginger with a dash of mint, all while crushing. Amazing.”
“Always drink without ice – it will be better.”
“The good ones usually add some mint, ginger and lemon. It tastes heavenly in summer. In some parts of North India, Sugarcane juice is also used to make Kheer (rice pudding).”
“In Brazil, we add ice cubes and a bit of lime juice. Breaks the sweetness a bit and is even more refreshing. It’s still a sugar bomb, though.”
“On a hot sunny day, sugarcane juice hits different .. this and coconut water are nature’s energy drinks.”
“It tastes even better if you add a little ginger to it and of course don’t forget a dash of lime!
Alcohol fans, try sugarcane juice with vodka, a little saunf powder and crushed ice or with ice cubes! Thank me later.”
Before this, a video showing a vlogger making jaggery from sugarcane went viral on social media. Here’s the complete story.
Let’s be real – who doesn’t love a glass of fresh juice? It’s quick, easy to make, full of nutrients, and gives you that energy boost. Green juice, in particular, has earned a reputation as a health powerhouse. Packed with vitamins, it’s often seen as a must-have for a healthy diet. Plus, it’s known to help detox the body. But is it all it’s cracked up to be? If you’ve been sipping on green juice thinking it’s the ultimate health drink, you might want to keep reading. Nutritionist Shalini Sudhakar recently dropped some surprising truth bombs about this popular beverage on Instagram. Can Green Juice Be A Healthy Part Of Your Diet? Here’s What You Need To Know:
Shalini says the health benefits of green juice depend on how it’s made. If you’re using raw leaves, it could actually be doing more harm than good. While green leafy veggies are loaded with nutrients, they also contain anti-nutrients like oxalate. When raw, these anti-nutrients aren’t broken down. Shalini explains, “When you consume a glass of raw green juice, you’re also consuming a lot of anti-nutrients along with it.” This can mess with your gut and liver health. So, she recommends cooking the greens before juicing them for maximum benefits.
Watch the full video here:
Does Cooking Leafy Greens Really Destroy Their Nutrients?
Here’s where a lot of people get it wrong: cooking leafy greens doesn’t zap all the nutrients. In fact, Shalini points out that cooking actually helps remove those pesky anti-nutrients. Once the anti-nutrients are gone, your body can absorb the good stuff way better. A study from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) even found that cooking leafy greens boosts vitamin C content, especially in Indian spinach. So if you’ve been avoiding cooked greens, thinking you’ll lose all the nutrients, it’s time to rethink that.
How Often Should You Drink Green Juice?
Even though green juice is packed with good stuff, moderation is key. Shalini suggests drinking it about three times a week to get the most benefits. By sticking to this 3-day routine, your body can absorb all the nutrients without overloading on anti-nutrients. Want to try a healthy green juice recipe? Here’s one to get you started. It is refreshing, loaded with nutrients and gives you an instant morning boost. Since it is not too bitter, a glass of fresh orange juice is more likely to find takers than maybe amla or bitter gourd juice. But when it comes to drinking it daily, it can get a little tricky. Sure, it has its own set of benefits, but is it really that healthy that you consume it every day? If you have the same question about the humble OJ, then you have landed on the right page. Let’s see if a daily glass of orange juice is a yay or a nay.

What Are The Health Benefits Of Orange Juice?
1. Boosts Immunity
Orange juice is packed with vitamin C, which helps keep your immunity strong. This can keep you protected from cold, flu, and other inflammatory diseases.
2. Keeps Skin Healthy
Struggling with dull skin? Orange juice can do wonders for you. Not only is it packed with vitamin C but also antioxidants which play a major role in fighting free radical activity. Free radicals can make your skin look dull and also promote wrinkles and ageing. The abundance of vitamin C in the orange juice can help you get youthful and radiant skin.
3. Strong Bones
It is a known fact that orange has a lot of calcium content in it. This can help with your bone health and keep them strong. Our skeleton is all bones so it is important to keep the structure strong. Fun fact: orange is packed with flavonoids like naringenin and hesperidin which is anti-inflammatory and may help relieve arthritis pain.
4. Kidney Stones
As per the popular book ‘Healing Foods’ by DK Publishing, oranges have high amounts of citrate concentrate. This means that when you drink orange juice, it can help break down calcium oxalate stone formation and provide relief from kidney stones.
5. Heart Health
Orange is packed with hesperidin – which according to ‘Healing Foods’ – can help reduce symptoms of hypertension. Pectin and liminoid compounds found in oranges can help slow down the hardening of arteries and also reduce bad cholesterol levels in the blood.

Is It Okay To Drink Orange Juice Every Day?
No, but occasionally. While orange juice is packed with the goodness of this tangy fruit, juicing in general is not a recommended way to get its benefits. We spoke to nutritionist consultant Rupali Datta to know if drinking orange juice every day is recommended or not.
1. Removes The Good Part
While oranges are packed with fibre, which helps keep you full and your digestive system happy, orange juice lacks it. As per the expert, when you juice an orange, the fibre is mostly removed and you are only left with a glass of sweet water with nutrients. Fibre helps in slowing down sugar absorption and removing toxins and waste material from your digestive system.
2. Sugar Overload
Many people prefer buying packaged juice rather than juicing oranges themselves. You’ll be surprised to know that most of the market-bought orange juices are packed with sugar, and have added colours and preservatives to make it tastier. Even if you are juicing oranges at home, you will be using 3-4 oranges which could be too much sugar consumption for the day. As per Datta, this could lead to sugar overload. “At the end of the day, orange or any other fruit is simple sugars. You should rather have 3 oranges as a whole than juice them.”
3. May Lead To Dumping Syndrome
Too much orange juice can lead to dumping syndrome. For the unversed, dumping syndrome is when foods that are high in sugar move from your stomach into your small bowel too quickly after you eat. This leads to large amounts of undigested food to rush to your small intestine. You might experience abdominal cramps, nausea, or even blood sugar fluctuations. Since orange juice is pretty high in sugar, you might experience dumping syndrome if you consume it regularly.
