    1. Preparing Thecha

Heat a pan with some oil in it. Then add green chillies and garlic cloves to it. Cook it for 4-5 minutes until the garlic and the green chillies have become slightly soft. • A Heavenly Journey At Kamei – Delhis New Modern Asian Restaurant I Have Fallen In Love With

A Heavenly Journey At Kamei – Delhis New Modern Asian Restaurant I Have Fallen In Love With

Delhi’s love for world-class Asian cuisine is undeniable, with new restaurants continuously popping up and enticing us. One such exciting addition is Kamei, a luxurious “Modern Asian Restaurant & Cocktail Bar” in the vibrant heart of South Delhi. With 15 years of culinary expertise from the renowned House of Fio backing it, Kamei promises an exceptional dining experience.

Upon entering Kamei, I was immediately struck by the lively atmosphere and chic decor. Even though the restaurant opened only a couple of months back, it was nearly full, the energetic music blending seamlessly with the buzz from the bar area. It felt like the perfect spot for a weekend night out.

As someone who enjoys cocktails, I couldn’t resist exploring their innovative drink menu. I opted for the Palo-Mei, a tequila-based concoction made with 1800 Silver tequila and infused with Bird’s Eye chilli. This cocktail was a delightful balance; the heat of the chilli was beautifully offset by the sweetness of strawberry and grapefruit, creating a refreshing yet complex drink. I also tried the Mango Tai, another tequila delight. Don’t let its name fool you-it wasn’t overly sweet. Instead, it offered a subtle mango flavour combined with the invigorating notes of basil and citrus.

The menu at Kamei is a fascinating blend of traditional and modern dishes, showcasing the diverse flavours of East Asia, with influences from China, Japan, Thailand, and beyond. The “Smalls to Share” section features an array of signature cold plates, while the “Larges to Share” includes classic curries and wok dishes that can be paired with Kamei Fried Rice or Yaki Udon for a complete meal.

One dish that stood out was the Coconut Sea Bass Ceviche, enhanced by a richly flavoured coriander coconut leche de tigre. This dish was light yet creamy, with the prawn cracker adding a delightful crunch-plus, it was a feast for the eyes!

No visit to an Asian restaurant would be complete without dim sum and sushi, so I ordered the Chicken Siu Mai. It was incredibly succulent, bursting with juicy flavours. I also had to try the Prawn Tempura, a dish I can’t resist at any Asian restaurant. Kamei did not disappoint; the tempura was perfectly balanced, with a delightful contrast between soft and crunchy textures.

Another must-try for avocado lovers is the Yuzu Avocado. This dish features grilled avocado paired with a zesty wasabi sauce and a creamy yuzu emulsion. The crispy rice cake added a perfect crunch, making it a heavenly experience.

While savouring the array of delightful dishes and cocktails, I was surprised with a dessert that elevated my mood to new heights. The Honeycomb, a Malaysian sponge cake drizzled with whisky caramel sauce and served with vanilla gelato, was simply divine-a true match made in heaven.

Chef Aditya Moitra, the Lead R&D Chef of Fio Restaurants, shares his vision: “With Kamei’s menu, we hope to elevate Delhi’s culinary boundaries. I approach traditional culinary techniques as a canvas for flavour pairings, and it’s been exciting to bring that thought into Kamei’s curation.”

’90 Day Fiance’ Angela Deem Shares New Approach On Love

90 Day Fiance star Angela Deem is back with new updates amid her nasty situation with Michael Ilesanmi. The two were already separated by the end of HEA Tell-All. They’re currently in a legal dispute. Angela wants to annul their marriage, but Michael counter-filed with a divorce. They’ve been going back and forth on social media. But it seems the Georgia native had enough as she shares her new approach to love. Keep reading to see her post.

90 Day Fiance: Angela Deem Continues To Regain Supporters

Many fans were against Angela throughout her struggles with Michael. Viewers have called her out for her abusive behavior towards her husband during the show. One of the main reasons she’s upset is due to Michael’s suspicious acts. However, some people are starting to believe Angela, especially with Michael’s questionable actions over the past few weeks. One of them was his GoFundMe, which he kept open despite reaching $25,000 in just a couple of days. Since then, Michael has flaunted her lavish lifestyle, showing off his gold chains and a Mercedes car.

Michael recently released an official statement in which he claimed that he never used the donation money for himself, adding that the fundraiser was quickly frozen due to the reports it received. But Michael admitted that he did talk with other women online, although his interactions with them never progressed. This confirms Angela’s suspicions that her husband isn’t loyal. But it seems she’s had enough and finally put her attention on a different matter.

Angela Shares New Approach To Love

After feeling fooled by Michael for years, it seems Angela is turning over a new leaf. In an Instagram post, the 90 Day Fiance star reshared a quote about the things she should prioritize chasing. “Maybe if we chased God as hard as we chase people, God would give us people we don’t have to chase,” the quote says. It appears Angela Deem is done being at war with her estranged husband and wants to focus more on her faith. It’s unclear what triggered her sudden shift of behavior. But it seems she became at peace as Michael Ilesanmi continued to put himself in trouble with his own actions.

  • MKT, The Chanakya Hosts Some Amazing Food Festivals And I Love Them All

MKT, The Chanakya Hosts Some Amazing Food Festivals And I Love Them All

Food festivals are a fantastic way to explore different cuisines from all over the world without leaving the city. They offer a unique opportunity to taste authentic dishes prepared by skilled chefs, often at a fraction of the cost of dining at a traditional restaurant. One fabulous place in Delhi to experience these food festivals is MKT, The Chanakya. This upscale restaurant regularly hosts themed food festivals that showcase a variety of cuisines, from Japanese and Thai to Chinese, European, Mexican, and Indian coastal specialities. I personally look forward to all the festivals frequently hosted by MKT and each one impresses me with the selection of the dishes and delicious flavours.

Sake Soiree Pop-up at MKT, The Chanakya:

At MKT, The Chanakya, the excitement of global flavours is brought to life by the culinary prowess of Chef Rinki Saha and head mixologist Sanjay Rawat. Their curated menus promise to impress and delight. This September 2024, they invite you to immerse yourself in the enchanting Sake Soiree Pop-up, a celebration of Japanese traditions. This special event transforms the restaurant into a slice of Japan, featuring an izakaya-inspired menu paired beautifully with artisanal sake cocktails. I tried the menu and absolutely loved it.

One highlight is the Salmon Tartare, a delicate assembly of tobiko, fujiko, and dashi soy that creates a harmonious blend of flavours. For sashimi lovers, the New Age Hamachi Sashimi is an extraordinary treat. This dish presents a bold fusion of heat from jalapeno, the crunch of bubu arare, and a cooling touch of wasabi foam, all combined with a tangy buttermilk reduction that is simply mind-blowing. Vegetarians will also find delight in the Avocado and Kyuri Tartare and the Tofu Carpaccio, each offering a fresh perspective on Japanese cuisine.

Latest and Breaking News on NDTV

Pairing these dishes with expertly crafted sake cocktails enhances the dining experience further. I had the Shichimi cocktail, which was a refreshing concoction of Hakutsuru junmai and citrus-infused vermouth, which offers an intriguing citrusy note. But if you like your cocktail sweeter, go for Chuhai cocktail. It serves as a delightful conclusion to your meal, blending junmai with floral essences and luscious berries in an effervescent delight.

In addition to the Sake Soiree, MKT, The Chanakya has previously dazzled me with events like the “Street Food Carnival.” This vibrant festival brought together a selection of international street food favourites, capturing the essence of bustling markets around the globe. The menu featured delights such as cheesy Italian Arancini di Riso, crispy Japanese Karaage, and fluffy Bao Buns filled with either Schezwan vegetables or braised Belgian pork belly. Each dish was crafted to highlight the unique flavours and techniques that make street food so beloved.

MKT, The Chanakya stands out not only for its captivating food festivals but also for its extensive array of international cuisines, including Japanese, Thai, Chinese, European, Mexican, and Indian coastal specialities. The restaurant boasts a sleek, modern design and an inviting atmosphere that enhances your dining experience. And their hospitality is extraordinary. You feel welcomed and valued as a diner. With a thoughtfully curated menu and a wide selection of wines and cocktails, MKT, The Chanakya is the perfect destination for anyone looking to indulge in authentic global flavors.

“Make Us Proud”: Rebeca Andrade Fans Flood Gymnast with Love After Major Career Announcement After Paris Olympics

Wow, 2024 has been a magical year for Rebeca Andrade! Well, just after coming back from three ACL injuries in four years, this 25 years old athlete made history. In doing so, she became the first Brazilian woman to win four Olympic medals at the Paris Olympics, which is such a big deal! Recently, she added another win by taking gold on the uneven bars at the Brazilian Artistic Gymnastics Championship! And on a related note, just hours ago, Andrade shared on what she thought about retiring after the Paris Games, which made her fans emotional.

On Instagram, Rebeca Andrade recently shared a vulnerable post, delving into her personal journey filled with triumphs and setbacks. She remembers on March 16, 2024; she wrote a farewell letter to gymnastics on the phone, convinced that this would be her last Olympic cycle. In that letter, she opened up about the hurtful things people said like being called “ungrateful” and “selfish.”

It really affected Rebeca Andrade, but she also emphasized the importance of thinking about herself: “Sometimes I need to think about myself, and it’s not so wrong!” Through all the challenges, she found strength in hugs, conversations, and moments of caution that helped her keep going. Like when Simone Biles hugged her at the Paris Olympics after Rebeca won!

Fast forward to September 22, 2024, and Rebeca Andrade’s outlook has shifted. Instead of closing the door on her gymnastics career, she’s filled with pride as she reflects on everything she’s achieved. “Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that I would become the greatest Olympian in the history of my country,” she admitted.

It’s incredible to think that during the Paris Olympics, she outscored Simone Biles, the GOAT, on the floor exercise! This achievement made her the most decorated gymnast in Brazilian history. The journey, filled with tears, pain, and joy, has taken her further than she ever expected, and she’s embracing it all.

Andrade also talked about the responsibility of being a role model, saying it’s an honor that comes naturally to her. At just 25, she knows she has so much more to learn, but she carries a treasure trove of experiences—both good and tough—that she’s eager to share. She wants everyone to know that behind the medals and accolades, she’s just a person who deals with challenges but keeps rising to the occasion with courage. And this message of hers was inspirational for everyone over there. When her fans saw this post, they shared their views too.

    Rebeca Andrade steals hearts everywhere!

One fan captured the excitement perfectly, commenting, “You are a GIANT, little fox! SO PROUD to know that you are BRAZILIAN and a WARRIOR. I want to CHEER FOR you even MORE, JUMP TIC, JUMP ❤️🔥🔥” This really sums up Rebeca Andrade’s amazing journey as the most decorated Brazilian gymnast, boasting six Olympic and nine world medals!

Rebeca Andrade was instrumental in helping Brazil secure its first Olympic team medal—a bronze—while also snagging individual silvers in the all-around and vault, and a gold on the floor exercise, even outshining Simone Biles in the process. But at the same time, Andrade wanted that and stated, “I really wanted a gold medal. I was really fighting hard to make it happen, and I wanted to hear the Brazilian national anthem play again at the Olympics. I was very proud of myself; it wasn’t an easy Olympics.”

Another fan added., “Rebecca so young, so mature, so girly, so woman, so champion and so warrior. You are light and wherever you go, you shine. God bless you on this well-deserved vacation. What an incredible year! But God still has beautiful dreams for you. Believe that. All my love, care, respect, and admiration.”

Since the Tokyo Olympics, Andrade has truly stood out, especially after making her Olympic debut in Rio 2016, as the teenager who caught everyone’s attention by qualifying for the all-around final. Despite finishing 11th, she set the stage for her future. Her journey hasn’t been easy; after withdrawing from the 2017 world championships due to an ACL tear. Many feared she might retire. But she persevered through three ACL injuries, eventually making history in Tokyo by becoming the first Brazilian woman to win an Olympic medal in gymnastics, claiming silver in the all-around and gold in vault.

Rebeca Andrade followed this with gold in vault and silver on uneven bars at the 2021 World Championships. By 2022, she was crowned the first South American World All-Around Champion. She was the silver medalist in 2023 after Biles returned, and beat Biles for the world vault title.

One more fan beautifully expressed, “Rest and come back even stronger to make us proud, just like you did this cycle! 🫶🏻😍🙌🏼💨” Another echoed the sentiment, saying, “May God grant you a long life and many blessings in your journey. PARADISE loves you!” And one more chimed in, “Rebeca, the woman who has conquered the world and continues to do so. You’re amazing, and you are the pride of the Brazilian people! 🥹❤️”

Rebeca Andrade is truly inspiring many people. Even in a Sao Paulo suburb where Rebeca Andrade first trained, hundreds of new students are eager to follow her path. The local gymnastics center filled all 425 spots in under 48 hours—amazing! Andrade truly captured Brazil’s heart after winning gold at the Paris Olympics. Rosana Marques, the center’s coordinator, said demand tripled since her success. Erika Martins, a mom of two aspiring gymnasts, called Andrade an “immense motivation.

  • ‘It grew my love for football again’: Players with JUCO background vital for Eastern Washington football

‘It grew my love for football again’: Players with JUCO background vital for Eastern Washington football

It was the end of the 2022 football season, and taking roll at the quarterback position meeting – which in the best of times is still not a lengthy exercise – took hardly any time at all, considering there was just one player left.

“It was literally Kekoa (Visperas) and me, sitting in a room together,” EWU offensive coordinator Jim Chapin recalled on Tuesday.

After the graduation of four quarterbacks, the Eagles were desperate for more, a “perfect storm” situation that meant Chapin needed to be aggressive in recruiting.

Visperas, who is in line to make his 15th career start Saturday at Nevada (1-3), had played well in his first start, a 45-21 victory over Northern Colorado in the 2022 finale. Still, the Eagles could hardly rely solely on him and some incoming freshmen to handle the position in 2023.

“We wanted to find quarterbacks with game experience,” Chapin said. “I didn’t want to take a risk on a kid that hadn’t done it.”

Enter Jared Taylor and Michael Wortham, two quarterbacks with junior college experience who carved out important roles in Eastern’s offense last year, roles that they have continued to fill this season.

While Taylor and Wortham are the most visible junior college transfers for the Eagles (1-2), they are certainly not the only ones.

“We have kids on our team who went down (to California) for an opportunity,” Chapin said. “… They’re being underrecruited, and that’s a niche we can take advantage of.”

There are 14 players on the EWU roster who played previously at California junior colleges. All but two play primarily on offense (many of whom also contribute on special teams), plus starting punter Landon Ogles and backup safety Trevion Shadrick-Harris, who also spent time at Central Florida.

Jack Seelye, the team’s starting center, began his career at Diablo Valley College, about a 15-minute drive from his hometown in Lafayette, California.

Austin York, Eastern’s third-year fullback and first-year team captain, played the COVID-19 year and 2021 at Butte College in his hometown of Chico, California.

Some, like Taylor and running back Malik Dotson – who were teammates at Lakewood High School – moved from Washington to California to play junior college ball. Dotson and Taylor played at Feather River College in Quincy, California, about 1½ hours from Reno, Nevada.

But the majority of Eastern’s former junior college players are Californians who opted to start at that level first, proving themselves there to FCS coaches who might sign them a year or two later.

“You have guys coming from all over to play California JUCO ball,” said Ogles, who played his first two years at Palomar College in San Marcos, just north of San Diego. “You have to find a balance of (thinking), ‘How can I make it to the next level?’ and ‘How can I work with the guys next to me to help the team and make it to the next level?’ ”

Ogles grew up in San Diego, where he was first a soccer player and then a specialist for the Rancho Bernardo High School football team as a junior and senior. At Palomar, he handled kicking and punting duties, performing well enough for Fresno State to notice.

It was originally his “dream school,” Ogles said, because of family ties in the Fresno area. But he didn’t play in any games – although he was on the sideline when Eastern Washington took Fresno State to overtime last season – and after spring ball he weighed his options. That’s when EWU special teams coach Danny McDonald contacted him, and by late July he was on the EWU roster.

Through three games, Ogles has landed six of his 12 punts inside the 20. Against Drake, he had a 69-yard punt that was the team’s longest in six years.

A week later, against Southeastern Louisiana, Noah Cronquist – another former junior college standout – stepped in for injured wide receiver Nolan Ulm and caught four passes for 71 yards and a touchdown.

Cronquist, a junior, started his career at Southern Utah. After serving a two-year church mission, he ended up at Moorpark (California) College last season.

“I am a Moorpark kid through and through,” Cronquist said. “I grew up there, went to high school there. … When I went back to Moorpark, I got to go back and be around family.”

Moorpark also threw the ball plenty. In 10 games, Cronquist caught 81 passes for 1,064 yards and 13 touchdowns. He was named to the first-team All-America offense by the California Community College Athletic Association.

Cronquist, who said he weighed offers from other Big Sky programs and some from the Missouri Valley Football Conference, signed with the Eagles in December, joining a recruiting class that included three other California junior college players: offensive lineman David Shinn (Mt. San Jacinto), wide receiver Jaylen Garrison (Fresno City) and tight end Landon Cooper (Butte).

Recruiting junior college players isn’t all that new for Chapin, who said even during his time at Sioux Falls, a Division II program in South Dakota, California junior colleges were a focal point.

“The landscape of West Coast football has changed dramatically,” Chapin said. “Twenty years ago, the number of Division II programs was very different than it is today. Every day a Division II program closes down, there are going to be kids who are going to go play at junior colleges.”

Chapin also said another mutual benefit for players and for FCS coaches looking to bolster their rosters: at junior colleges, freshmen and sophomores generally get a lot more playing time than they do at Division I programs.

Coaches often say that live reps can’t be replicated. Players who come in as juniors with more game reps can be at a significant advantage.

For Cronquist, Eastern is his second Division I program, and he’s grateful for the chance. But he also appreciated his time at Moorpark.

“It grew my love for football again,” Cronquist said. “Being in a junior college environment, you see guys from all over and all they want to do is play football, and you realize, if I do get to play Division I football, it really is everyone’s dream.”

What Makes Vada Pav Wrap So Unique?

In this recipe, you can savour the familiar flavours of vada, but enclosed in a wrap instead of the traditional pavs. The best part? It tastes just like regular vada pav but with a unique presentation. It’s unlike any snack you’ve had before, and it is sure to win your heart with the first bite.

    Is Vada Pav Wrap Healthy?

Absolutely! Unlike regular vada pav, this dish does not include any pav, which is usually made with all-purpose flour. In this recipe, the pav is replaced with a high-protein besan wrap, more like a cheela. This gives it a high rating on the nutritional scale, making it super healthy and wholesome.

What To Serve With Vada Pav Wrap?

Are you feeling confused about what to pair with this wrap? Look no further than the classic pudina (mint) chutney. If you can prepare it fresh at home, that’s even better. Additionally, you can also relish this wrap with garlic chutney.

How To Make Vada Pav Wrap At Home | Vada Pav Recipe

The recipe for this unique vada pav wrap was shared by Chef Neha Deepak Shah on her Instagram page. Start by preparing the batata vada masala for the wrap. For this, heat oil in a pan and add hing, garlic cloves, ginger, mustard seeds, curry leaves, green chillies, haldi, coriander, boiled potato, and salt. Mix well and keep it aside. Next, prepare a slurry by mixing besan with water and salt. Once done, pour a ladleful of the batter onto a heated tawa and spread it evenly. After it’s semi-cooked, take a knife and make a slit from the centre to one end. Now, place the aloo mixture on one end, green chutney on the other, followed by imli chutney and grated cheese. Sprinkle garlic chutney over it and fold all the edges one over the other, forming a wrap. Your vada pav wrap is now ready!

Inside the wild love life and complicated family of Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro – amid fallout over THAT onstage bust-up

Rocker Dave Navarro is back in the headlines after his band spectacularly imploded on stage.

Dave, 57, who is the original guitarist for ’90s alt-rockers Jane’s Addiction, got into a fight with bandmate Perry Farrell in the middle of a show in Boston last week.

Footage captured at the concert showed Farrell, 65, in a physical altercation with Navarro during the band’s hit Mountain Song.

The onstage fracas prompted Dave to scuttle the remaining dates on the band’s first tour in 14 years featuring the original lineup.

‘Due to a continuing pattern of behavior and the mental health difficulties of our singer Perry Farrell, we have come to the conclusion that we have no choice but to discontinue the current US tour,’ Navarro said in a statement.

He continued: ‘Our concern for his personal health and safety as well as our own has left us no alternative. We hope that he will find the help he needs.’

Navarro’s complicated career has paralleled his equally tumultuous love life over the years.

The rocker has been married three times, and counts among his many lovers porn stars Stormy Daniels, Sasha Gray and Jenna Jameson.

Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro's tumultuous onstage career has been reflected in his personal life with multiple marriages, romantic interests and public battles with drug and alcohol addiction.

Rhian Gittins tied the knot with Navarro on October 15, 1994.

They divorced on October 20 of that same year, making it one of the shortest celebrity unions in history.

Navarro’s next relationship was with actress and model Carmen Electra.

Dave met the former Baywatch Star in the early 2000s and quickly captured media attention as an ‘it’ couple.

That attention when their relationship was writ large on the screen in the reality show Til Death Do Us Part: Carmen and Dave, which ran for seven episodes on MTV in 2004.

Viewers got a sneak peek behind the scenes as the popular couple planned their nuptials, with the series culminating on the big wedding day.

However, that relationship proved doomed too, and the couple eventually called it quits two years later in 2006.

Despite the split, in 2019, Electra shared a sweet sentiment to her ex on social media to celebrate his birthday.

Sharing a picture from their wedding day, Electra wrote:  ‘Happy Birthday @davenavarro my eternal love for u is beyond words.

‘We had this strange understanding for each other that resulted in lots of laughter , fun & and understanding ! Ty 4 letting me be my true self and not judging my flaws . I mean …. the time out system really worked. So grateful we are still friends ! I love u DN #happybirthday #tildeathdouspart.’

Dave joined Jane’s Addiction back in 1986, before the band imploded, due to infighting and personal tensions in 1991.

He was earmarked to become the replacement guitarist for Izzy Stradlin in iconic rock band Guns N Roses – but reportedly never showed up.

He also had a stint in funk-punk rockers Red Hot Chili Peppers, with that union producing the band’s 2005 album One Hot Minute.

After a couple of Jane’s Addiction reunions, the band reunited for a third time in 2022, this time without Navarro, who had been sidelined due to Long COVID.

And Dave’s tumultuous onstage career has been reflected in his personal life, with multiple marriages, romantic interests and public battles with drug and alcohol addiction.

Both Navarro’s mother and aunt were murdered by his mother’s ex-boyfriend John Riccardi in 1983.

He was ultimately arrested after being featured on America’s Most Wanted.

Navarro released a documentary in 2015 called Mourning Son, which details the harrowing ordeal.

Speaking to the Huffington Post at the time of the film’s release, Navarro said he didn’t realise the film was a statement on domestic violence until he was in the middle of making it.

‘I think that’s partly because I was so close to the events as a child, especially being in the 1980s, those words weren’t really thrown around,” he said.

‘As we were putting the project together, it dawned on me that that’s what I’m talking about.’

Dave has also had his fair share of struggles with addiction too, stemming from the grief over his mother’s death.

After the breakup of Jane’s Addiction in 1991, Dave checked himself into rehab and attempted to get sober.

Turning to a vegan diet and healthy lifestyle he would stay clean for around five years before relapsing in 1997.

Speaking to Adam Carolla in 2022 Dave revealed he hadn’t used intravenous drugs for nearly two decades and had been sober for four years.

‘There is a lot of shame that comes with addiction, with depression, with mental illness, and I’ve suffered from not only addiction but mental health issues myself,’ he revealed on the podcast.

‘One of the things that prevents people from asking for help is the shame. The facts are shame hasn’t saved anybody. Shame is what keeps people dying.’

  • Dating Mistakes to Avoid for Digital Nomads in Search of Love

Dating Mistakes to Avoid for Digital Nomads in Search of Love

In 2013, I took my first step into the digital nomad lifestyle by becoming an online English teacher. I knew I wanted to travel and saw this as a way to sustain myself.

Now, at 35, I’ve lived in 12 countries and visited over 30. I’ve continued teaching, started content writing, and am now working on communications and facilitation for an eco-community in Thailand, my current home.

Over the years, I’ve enjoyed a slew of flings and a few longer relationships. I’ve also learned dating lessons, including the following three.

    1. Avoid premature attachment

We met at a Buddhism course in Nepal. He had long curly hair, and I had a lot of free time. I chased him for two weeks until he gave in, fell madly in love with me, and welcomed me into his apartment.

We then went about passionately ignoring one of Buddhism’s core tenets: non-attachment. Attachment, the Buddha said, was the root of suffering. Testing his theory, we became fiercely attached to a future we quickly planned out — one replete with copious amounts of curly-haired children.

Within months, our quest to do the opposite of what the Buddha had taught brought us face-to-face with another core tenet of Buddhism: impermanence.

After we argued our way through nine countries and eventually broke up, we ended the relationship with a hand-in-hand walk around the Buddhist stupa in the heart of the neighborhood where we first met. It realized that premature attachment to a vision that doesn’t yet have a strong foundation doesn’t work.

This happened 11 years ago, but it’s a lesson I’ve had to learn a few more times since.

    2. Find friendships in failed relationships

And then there was Moishe. Ah, Moishe, like a breath of fresh air when you fear not being able to breathe anymore. In this case, partly due to a new respiratory virus that was spreading — it was 2020, and the pandemic had just been announced.

We met on Nomad Soulmates, a dating app for digital nomads under the most surreal of circumstances. All flights were being canceled, and the world was in panic.

We seemed to mirror each other perfectly. We were both longtime travelers and secular Jews from the US. Both of us wanted a life partner, but not kids — a near impossibility to find within our demographic. Best of all, we were both obsessed with building community by hosting dinners, workshops, and other types of meetups.

To bridge those 13 timezones and COVID masks that separated us — I was living in South Korea, and he was in Pennsylvania — we did what any logical couple dating online for five months would do: we decided that I would fly across the world and we would do the whole “quarantine” thing together.

We rented a one-bedroom apartment in Pennsylvania Amish Country for three months, where we could hear the clop-clop of horse hooves passing by our house at all hours.

It turned out Moishe and I had one more major thing in common: a shared tendency to get ahead of ourselves. You would think we could have avoided putting the cart before the horse in a town where it was constantly on display properly, but we managed it.

Just a few days after moving in, it became clear that we weren’t a match romantically. However, we continued to work from the same home and be each other’s sole social contact for the next three months.

Although my hopes of finding a long-term partner were quickly dashed, this story has a happy ending. We both ended up moving abroad again and now share a social network.

For me, the lesson here — aside from the obvious one about not making forever plans before you actually meet — is that there’s a richness to be gained from having the flexibility to transform a failed relationship into a top-notch friendship.

    3. Go with your gut

I was just getting out of another failed relationship when I went on my first Tinder date. We met in Florida when I was visiting my dad en route to Mexico for a Central America adventure — a trip that swiftly canceled after the first time I saw him take out the ponytail elastic and let down his hair. His good looks convinced me to stay.

Though we had a strong initial connection, there were obvious underlying issues from the get-go. While I’ve always been fascinated by relationship psychology, he was skeptical. We also didn’t share the same long-term goals; for example, he was set on staying in Florida, while I had no intention of returning to the US full time.

For a year, we tried to make something work that was doomed to fail. Spoiler alert: It failed. It turns out that if you enter a relationship thinking, “This probably won’t work out,” then you’re probably right.

But I have no regrets. The experience taught me to prioritize the potential for a healthy relationship in the future over the impulse to settle for a less-than-ideal one in the present. Nowadays, I let go more gracefully early on when I see that a connection is unlikely in the long run.

My biggest takeaway from these nomadic love affairs has been that it just doesn’t bode well for a relationship — or for your heart — to get ahead of yourself by taking big steps and making big plans early on. When you’re dating on the road, the temptation to do so is strong, and connecting at a speed that would seem crazy in the “real world” is commonplace.

Connections often feel more intense, too, because we digital nomads exist within a bubble of transience and time limits. There’s a feeling of urgency that pushes us to connect faster.

It may be fun at the moment to move in with a guy from the internet, make lifelong plans with the curly-haired Buddha, or spontaneously cancel your onward travels, but if you don’t live inside a romantic comedy movie, these are not ways to build an actual stable relationship.
