  • Toscano Has Arrived In Delhi And Its A Must-Visit For Italian Food Lovers

Toscano Has Arrived In Delhi And Its A Must-Visit For Italian Food Lovers

Delhi’s food scene never ceases to amaze. From authentic Japanese ramen bowls to soulful Moroccan tagines, the city is a melting pot of global cuisines, constantly pushing culinary boundaries. Amid this vibrant landscape, the newly opened Toscano at Select City Walk promises a taste of Italy like no other. I recently dined there, and let me just say – I can’t wait to return. With a menu crafted to transport you to a sunlit Italian countryside, every dish was a delightful testament to finesse and flavour.

We began our culinary journey with Arancini e Mozzarella Fritta, golden fried cheesy Italian rice balls made with Arborio rice. The crumb-fried fresh mozzarella inside oozed indulgence with every bite, perfectly complemented by the crunchy exterior. Served with a medley of carrots, zucchini, broccoli, haricot verts, and a tangy arrabbiata sauce, this dish set a high bar for what was to follow.

Next came the Pesto Chicken Bruschetta – a flavorful balance of textures. The herb oil-rubbed grilled bread provided a sturdy base for the succulent roasted bell peppers and tender chicken, while the red pepper coulis added a zingy freshness. Paired with mixed greens, it was the kind of dish that stays with you long after the last bite.

For salads, we tried the Insalata di Cesare and Insalata di Pollo e Funghi. The Caesar salad was a fresh, vibrant mix of young romaine leaves, crunchy pesto croutons, and aged Parmesan shavings, brought together with a creamy house dressing and a sprinkling of toasted pumpkin seeds. The chicken and mushroom salad, on the other hand, was a symphony of flavours-pulled roast chicken, roasted mushrooms, apple slices, carrots, a soft-boiled egg, and gouda cheese drizzled with sweet balsamic dressing. Every forkful was a medley of textures and tastes.

Feeling indulgent, we moved on to Pane all’aglio Ripieno, Toscano’s filled garlic bread. Stuffed with Harissa chicken, roasted bell peppers, garlic, ricotta, and mozzarella cheese, this dish was both hearty and delightful. The warmth of the harissa paired beautifully with the creamy cheeses.

Craving some pizza, we opted for the Vegetarian Fungi e Cipolla – a white pizza with no marinara sauce. Topped with mixed mushrooms, salted ricotta, balsamic-glazed onions, romaine greens, goat cheese crumble, and a drizzle of truffle oil, it was earthy and rich in every bite. We also tried their signature Toscano Pizza, a vibrant offering of pesto chicken, bell peppers, onions, olives, and boiled egg, all on a perfectly hand-stretched sourdough base.

For pasta, we went classic with the Spaghetti Carbonara, a decadent blend of bacon, egg yolk, cream, Parmesan, and crushed pepper. Every forkful of the creamy, silky pasta was deeply satisfying.

The meal ended on a sweet note with Classic Tiramisu and Dutch Truffle Popcorn Cake. While the tiramisu offered the timeless combination of coffee-soaked bread and mascarpone cream, the popcorn cake stood out as a playful treat. Topped with caramelized popcorn, drizzled in caramel chocolate sauce, and paired with vanilla ice cream, it was the perfect balance of sweet and crunchy.

All in all, Toscano’s impeccable flavours and elegant ambience make it a must-visit for Italian food lovers. The staff was friendly and cooperative, which amped up our experience. At the time, the restaurant had yet to get a liquor license which is why I wasn’t able to explore their cocktail menu. However, if you’re in the mood for wood-fired pizzas, comforting bowls of pasta, or indulgent desserts, this restaurant has something to please every palate.

    About Chili Chicken:

This delicious recipe is packed with flavour, where boneless chicken is marinated in spices and then cooked to perfection in a mixture of vegetables and sauce. Keep reading for the full recipe.

Here Are Five Easy Steps to Make Boneless Chili Chicken:

    Marinate the Chicken:

To make chilli chicken, start by placing the boneless chicken in a bowl. Then, add egg, cornflour, ginger garlic paste, and salt. Mix everything well and ensure all the chicken pieces are coated evenly. Set it aside to marinate for 30 minutes.

    Deep Fry the Chicken:

Heat oil in a wok or pan. Deep-fry the chicken pieces over high heat initially, then lower the flame. Fry until the chicken is cooked through, then drain on absorbent paper.

    Stir-Fry the Veggies:

Capsicum, onion, and spring onions are commonly used in Indo-Chinese cuisine and are stir-fried. Cut the capsicum and onion into cubes. Heat two tablespoons of oil in a pan, then stir-fry the onion for a few seconds. Afterwards, add the capsicum and spring onions and fry for another minute.

    Time to Add Sauces:

Feel free to add some chopped green chillies. Add a pinch of salt once the vegetables are fried (be cautious, as the sauces already contain salt). Now, at this stage, add vinegar, soy sauce, and chilli sauce. Mix everything well, and cook for two minutes.

Mix the Fried Chicken with Perfection:

Add the fried chicken to the vegetable and sauce mixture. Toss the chicken in the mixture so the flavours of the spices and sauce infuse throughout. Mix and cook for a few seconds. For the final touch, garnish with freshly chopped spring onions, then turn off the heat. Your delicious boneless chilli chicken is ready to serve!

    Serving:

Chilli chicken is ready in minutes, so you can serve it as a snack or starter. It can also be served with fried rice or noodles.

Next time you’re craving chilli chicken, be sure to try this easy recipe.

    Happy Cooking!

  • Why Gurgaons Covah – The Cavern A Haven For Mediterranean And Asian Cuisine Lovers

Why Gurgaons Covah – The Cavern A Haven For Mediterranean And Asian Cuisine Lovers

Gurgaon is one of the most vibrant and fast-growing hubs in Delhi-NCR. Over the past year, it has become a culinary hotspot. With its rapidly evolving food scene, the city has witnessed an influx of new restaurants, cafes, and especially crafted spaces that cater to a varied mix of tastes. From global flavours to experiential dining, Gurgaon’s bustling energy is mirrored in its ever-expanding gastronomic landscape. Amid this, one place that truly stands out for its aesthetic vibe and delectable food is Covah – The Cavern. Based in the city’s sector 43, this is the place to be if you crave Mediterranean and Asian cuisine, paired with specially crafted cocktails.

Recently, I had the opportunity to visit Covah, and the moment I stepped in, it was evident that this wasn’t just a restaurant – it was a dreamy escape. With interiors inspired by the mystique of caves, the space envelopes you in earthy beige tones and carefully sculpted walls. The ambience is intimate yet vibrant, making it a perfect place for your culinary journey.

Our evening began with their signature cocktails, each thoughtfully crafted to showcase unique flavours. The first drink I tried was Summer’s Plunge, a Mediterranean-inspired blend that was both savoury and refreshing. The briny depth of Ketel One Vodka was beautifully balanced by the sweetness of watermelon shrub and the effervescence of passionfruit sparkling water. It was a light, herbaceous start that immediately set the tone for the evening.

But that was just the beginning. Next came The Fire Ritual, a bold twist on the classic Picante. The smoky undertones of Reposado Tequila paired brilliantly with the vibrant heat of red paprika, while the citrus agave rounded it off with just the right amount of sweetness. This cocktail had a fiery charm that lingered long after the last sip.

To complement the drinks, we dove into the food. Their extensive menu boasted a number of Mediterranean, Asian and fusion options. Although it was hard to choose one, we started with Chicken Yakitori. The skewers, coated in a luscious glaze of sake, mirin, and soy sauce, were tender and flavorful. The nuttiness of sesame and the freshness of spring onion added depth and texture, making it a dish that was as satisfying as it was comforting.

The Butterfly Garlic Prawns were another highlight. Perfectly cooked and loaded with the richness of butter and wine, the prawns were amped up by a hint of chilli flakes that added just the right kick. Paired with crusty bread to soak up the indulgent sauce, it was a dish that took my taste buds on a roller coaster ride. However, it was the juicy and tender pork gyozas that stole my heart. I have never had such amazing gyozas ever.

Midway through the meal, we decided to explore more of their cocktail offerings. This time, I opted for Inner Roots, a drink that celebrated the vibrant flavours of Thailand. Bombay Sapphire Gin served as the base, elevated by fragrant notes of lemongrass and galangal, while the litchi cordial and kaffir lime essential oil added a burst of brightness. This aromatic cocktail paired beautifully with the Blackened BBQ Chicken, a smoky, succulent dish served with a refreshing corn coriander salsa and a creamy cucumber cumin dip.

The culinary journey continued with two of Covah’s standout curries. The Chicken Malacca Curry was a Malaysian-inspired dish. The tamarind’s tanginess, the warmth of cinnamon, and the aromatic punch of curry leaves created a dish that was rich, hearty, and unforgettable. The Laksa Curry Bowl, which was recommended to us by the staff, certainly did not disappoint. The curry was a delicious combination of coconut milk, lemongrass, chilli, and turmeric, with noodles that soaked up the aromatic broth beautifully.

We ended the night on a decadent note with Secrets of Java, a cocktail that doubled as dessert. The Blanco Tequila, banana saccharum, and hazelnut liqueur combined to create a drink that was sweet, nutty, and indulgent. The salted caramel banana tart finish was the perfect end to an exquisite meal.
All in all, my time at Covah – The Cavern was great. The staff was courteous, the ambience – soulful. The food and drinks were definitely the highlight of my visit. I can’t wait to try other Mediterranean and fusion dishes that this place has to offer!

  • Brews And Beyond: Asur Microbrewery Is The Ultimate Destination For Craft Beer Lovers

Brews And Beyond: Asur Microbrewery Is The Ultimate Destination For Craft Beer Lovers

If you are into beers, you’d understand that the rise of microbreweries in India has been nothing short of remarkable. Once considered synonymous with cities like Bangalore, the concept of craft beers has spread across the country, offering beer enthusiasts something unique and local to sip on. Delhi, in particular, has seen a growing love for freshly brewed, artisanal beers. Recently, I visited a newly open spot in the city – Asur: Microbrewery & Kitchen – based in Moti Nagar.

My visit started with a quick tour of the brewing area. Massive stainless-steel tanks stood in the space, where the team worked on everything – from brewing to fermentation. It was fascinating to see the ingredients that go into the preparation of beers, various malts like Wheat Pale, Vienna, Caraaroma, etc. and even hops like Mosaic, Willamette, Colombus, Saaz, etc. Each of these ingredients played a key role in the beer’s character – be it sweetness, bitterness, or aroma.

    Photo: Asur Microbrewery.

Once the tour wrapped up, I was ready to try their beers. Their craft beer menu has six different options – each with its own charm. First up, there is Scotch Ale: Smooth and lightly smoky with hints of caramel sweetness. Perfect for those who prefer easygoing beers. This was followed by IPA (New England): Hop-forward with juicy tropical flavours, this one’s for people who love bold, punchy beers. There Marzen is a crisp and refreshing German-style lager, which is simple yet perfectly balanced.

Then came Stout – with its rich and creamy flavours of coffee and chocolate – this drink is smooth and indulgent, almost like dessert. The last two are Witbier and X-Tra Strong Lager. The former is a light, citrusy, and refreshing drink with hints of orange peel, while the latter is bold, malty, and packs a punch for those who enjoy a stronger kick.

Personally, fruity and citrusy tones are my preference, so I liked Witbier the most.

After having a hearty round of beers, we jumped right to the food menu. I started with a variety of starters that perfectly set the tone for the meal. Ordering first thing on the table, I started with the classic Chilli Chicken, which was spicy, tangy, and had just the right amount of heat.

Next up, I craved seafood, and what better way to sate it than by ordering the delicious and succulent Amritsari Fish? It was crisp on the outside and tender on the inside – a perfect burst of flavours and textures. Butter Garlic Prawns, with their juicy and buttery goodness, definitely steal the show. Even the dahi ke kebab was the perfect accompaniment to this group of dishes.

To wash down the starters, I sipped on two drinks – Mr Banarasiya and Bloody Alloy. The first one had a refreshing punch with flavours that reminded me of classic Banarasi notes, while the latter was bold and unique, and had a beautiful orange colour.

For the main course, I indulged in Butter Chicken and Naan, a combination I can never say no to. The butter chicken was rich, creamy, and had just the right balance of sweetness and spice. Paired with soft naan, it was comfort food at its best. To wrap up my experience, I dug into two desserts – a New York Cheesecake topped with raspberry sauce. And the irresistible Chocolate Mud Cake. Dense, rich and oh-so-gooey, it was every chocolate lover’s dream.

  • Coffee Lovers, Its Time To Give It Up If You Have These Conditions

Coffee Lovers, Its Time To Give It Up If You Have These Conditions

Coffee is one of the most popular beverages worldwide. We love its energizing effects and comforting aroma; it’s an essential part of our daily routine. However, while many of us enjoy our daily cup, there are certain health conditions where coffee might do more harm than good. It’s important to recognize that it isn’t ideal for everyone, especially those dealing with certain health conditions. Nutritionist Ritika Kukreja, in an Instagram post, warns that if you have any of the following health issues, it may be time to reconsider your coffee habits.

Also Read: How Much Tea Is Too Much? Side Effects Of Excess Tea Consumption

Avoid Coffee If You Have These 5 Conditions

    1. Acid Reflux or GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease)

If you suffer from acid reflux or GERD, coffee can exacerbate your symptoms. The caffeine and acids in coffee stimulate the production of stomach acid, which can increase the likelihood of heartburn and reflux. This can lead to discomfort, bloating, and chest pain.
What You Can Do: It’s best to limit or avoid coffee if you experience frequent acid reflux. Instead, opt for herbal teas like chamomile or ginger, which are gentler on the stomach and can help soothe digestive issues.

    2. Anxiety or Insomnia

Coffee’s caffeine content can be a double-edged sword for people with anxiety or sleep problems. Caffeine stimulates the nervous system, which can lead to feelings of jitteriness, increased heart rate, and heightened anxiety. For those prone to anxiety, this can worsen symptoms and make it difficult to relax.
In addition, caffeine is a stimulant that can interfere with sleep patterns. Consuming coffee late in the day, or even in the early evening, can disrupt your ability to fall asleep or stay asleep.
What You Can Do: If you experience anxiety or insomnia, try switching to decaffeinated coffee or reduce your coffee intake, particularly after 2 PM. Herbal teas such as lavender or valerian root are great alternatives for relaxation.

    3. Iron Deficiency Anemia

Coffee can interfere with your body’s ability to absorb iron from food, especially when consumed with meals. The tannins in coffee bind to iron and can reduce its bioavailability, leading to potential deficiencies over time.
If you are already dealing with iron deficiency anemia, it’s particularly important to be mindful of when and how much coffee you drink.
What You Can Do: To minimize coffee’s impact on iron absorption, it’s recommended to wait at least one to two hours between drinking coffee and eating meals. If you’re struggling with iron deficiency, consider consuming iron-rich foods like leafy greens, legumes, and red meat, and speak with your doctor about iron supplements.

    4. Pregnancy

During pregnancy, it’s essential to monitor your caffeine intake, as high levels can potentially affect the baby’s growth and development. Studies have shown that excessive caffeine consumption during pregnancy may increase the risk of preterm birth, low birth weight, and even miscarriage.
The general recommendation is to limit caffeine intake to 200 milligrams per day, which is roughly the amount found in a small cup of coffee.
What You Can Do: Instead of coffee, try sipping on warm milk with a dash of saffron or cardamom, which can be soothing and nourishing. There are also many caffeine-free alternatives available, such as herbal teas, that are safe for expectant mothers.

    5. High Blood Pressure

Caffeine has been shown to cause temporary spikes in blood pressure. For individuals with hypertension, this can be risky, as it may lead to further complications, such as increased strain on the heart and blood vessels. Even if you don’t have high blood pressure, excessive caffeine consumption may increase the risk of developing it over time.
What You Can Do: If you have high blood pressure, it’s important to monitor your caffeine intake. Reducing your consumption or opting for decaffeinated coffee can help keep your blood pressure in check. You may also want to explore other beverages that don’t impact your heart health, such as herbal teas or water infused with fresh fruits.

As always, it’s a good idea to consult with a healthcare provider for personalized advice. By being mindful of your body’s needs, you can enjoy your drinks in a way that supports your overall health and well-being.

  • Belvidere North vs. Cary-Grove a option lover’s dream

The Cary-Grove athletic program might not be famous state-wide.

In over 60 years as a school, the Trojans have won only a single state trophy — fourth place in baseball in 2009 — in any boys sport.

    Except football.

Because there, Cary-Grove has found a way to become the best Class 6A program in the state. The Trojans are 19-1 in their last 20 playoff games, with three state titles since 2018. They have reached a state final seven times, including twice in 7A, since 2004. They have twice beaten the state’s other 6A juggernaut for the crown, as the only non-Catholic League team to beat East St. Louis in any round of the playoffs in the last 10 years.

Miss Margarita Launched Its New Menu And It Is A Haven For Mexican Food (And Tequila) Lovers

Besides our classic north Indian cuisine, there are only a few other cuisines that have my heart and Mexican cuisine tops that small list. And whenever I crave it, Miss Margarita is one of my go-to places. So, naturally, when I got to know that Miss Margarita launched a new menu, I had to try it. Miss Margarita had the same lively vibe – the quirky interiors, swooning music and the tempting aroma of Mexican delights wafting through the air. All things same but a brand new menu.

I loved the look of the new cocktail menu. It is glossed with images and a brief description of each cocktail so you know what exactly you’ll be drinking. The margaritas have been refined with a more sophisticated approach, boasting well-garnished and complex profiles that delight the senses. I am a tequila drinker and I absolutely loved the Orange and Basil Margarita – a tequila cocktail livened up with orange zest, fresh basil, lime, triple sec and orange juice. It was the perfect recipe for a refreshing cocktail with a hint of sweetness.

Another cocktail that is not to be missed is Mexican Bulldog Margarita, primarily because of how it is served. A large goblet filled with tequila cocktail, lots of ice and garnished with upside-down Corona beer bottles! Intrigued? You have to see this marvel yourself. Bonus – it tastes great too.

If you are a tequila fan like me, Spiced Cucumber Agave is also a must-try. Patron is complemented by the flavours of cucumber cordial, spiced agave, Himalayan pink salt and more. The drink is not too spicy, just a tad bit, which makes it a great drink if you love classic tequila concoctions.

Everything about this dish was perfect. But the best was yet to come. Yes, the dessert. The delicious Cinnamon Churros were just what I needed to end my meal on a sweet note.

On my recent visit, we got the full Bonita experience. The night kicked off with a Wild Mushroom Soup-earthy, rich, and the perfect warm-up. Next up were the starters, where the Patatas Bravas brought just the right amount of spicy kick with its tangy tomato sauce and garlic aioli. Then came the Recheado Beets and Burrata – a mix of creamy burrata and sweet beets, all tied together by a burnt citrus dressing that kept things interesting.
Now, let’s talk pizza! The Smokey Barbeque Chicken Pizza was a real winner, topped with grilled onions, charred corn, and jalapenos. Smoky, savoury, and impossible to share (though we did try). If you’re a pizza lover, this one’s a must.
For the mains, we tried the Grilled Mushroom Krapow – a fresh twist on a Thai classic with minced mushrooms, sticky rice, and a basil-chili sauce that brought major flavour. But the real star of the show was the Grilled Lobster Spaghetti, tossed in rich black garlic butter with a bouillabaisse emulsion. It was seafood pasta done right and showed just how much care goes into Bonita’s menu.
To wrap up the meal, we went for the Chilli Pineapple Tres Leches for dessert. This dessert was next-level, with smoky-sweet roasted pineapple paired perfectly with the light and fluffy tres leches – just the thing to end on a high note.

Gin And Tonic Lovers! Raise A Glass To International Gin And Tonic Day With These G and T Recipes

A gin and tonic is a classic, refreshing summer cocktail-so classic that the combination is over 100 years old. It has a crisp, slightly bitter flavour and is quite easy to make. A classic G and T cocktail is made with gin and tonic water poured over a large amount of ice. Most recipes call for a ratio between 1:1 and 1:3. Gin and Tonic fans celebrate October 19 every year as International Gin and Tonic Day. The day is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy this historic drink and celebrate gin distillers and tonic producers worldwide. If you, too, are a Gin and Tonic fan, read on to learn about its history and some fabulous ways to spruce up your favourite cocktail.

    Origin of Gin and Tonic:

The classic gin and tonic combination has a complex history. One of the first known instances of this combination was drinking it to help combat malaria in Holland in the 1840s. Tonic water contains quinine, the bitter element of this drink, which was believed to treat malaria. In the 19th century, the British Army in India also added gin to tonic water to improve the taste of this remedy drink.

Who Started International Gin and Tonic Day?

A woman named Jayne Withers launched Gin and Tonic Day in 2012 in honour of her grandmother, Mary Edith Keyburn, who loved G and T. Jayne writes, “Mary Edith was a remarkable woman who loved to have the occasional tipple of Gin and Tonic. She passed away in the hospital on October 19, 2010, at the age of 95, with a Gin and Tonic at her side that was smuggled into the hospital in a water bottle and served in a teacup,” quoted The Gin Guide.

5 Fun Ways to Jazz Up Your Good Old G and T:

    1. Cool as a Cucumber

Cut a cucumber into thin ribbons and arrange them in a highball glass. Add a handful of ice cubes. In a cocktail shaker, squeeze the juice of half a lime, then add gin, a splash of elderflower liqueur, a few basil leaves, and some cucumber chunks. Muddle the mixture thoroughly, then add ice. Shake well and strain the mixture into your glass. Finish by topping it with tonic and garnishing with more basil leaves.

Wash the strawberries and cut off the tops. Next, cut them in half or into quarters. Muddle the strawberries with a generous amount of freshly ground black pepper. Transfer the mixture to a glass filled with ice. Stir in the gin and top with tonic. Garnish with a strawberry and enjoy.

    3. Mint Meets Chocolate

Pour herbal-style gin into a glass and add a few leaves of fresh mint. Add a tablespoon of chocolate liqueur. Pour in the tonic and garnish with a few sprigs of mint and grated dark chocolate. Your mint-meets-chocolate G and T is ready.

    4. Peachy Not Preachy

If you like the fruity peach flavour, this cocktail is for you. Pour your gin and tonic over ice and add the peach slices. Garnish with a sprig of thyme. For a more pronounced peach flavour, you can blend the fruit and strain it into the glass before adding the other ingredients. Stir until the drink is infused with the juice.

Smoky, caramelized, and grilled pineapples make a fantastic G and T. Begin by grilling the pineapple wheels for 5 minutes until lightly browned. Cut one wheel of pineapple and muddle it into a cocktail shaker. Add ice, gin, lemon juice, and pineapple juice. Shake for two minutes. Strain it into a glass with ice. Top with tonic water. Garnish with another grilled pineapple wheel and serve!
