Luke Combs recently embraced a significant lifestyle change, one that he credits with positively impacting his life and mental well-being.
“Surprisingly, this is the least country thing I’ve ever said: [I’m] gluten-free now,” Combs recently revealed to ABC News.
The North Carolina native, who has previously been open about his struggles with anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), recalled noticing a “really bad” flare up of his symptoms over the summer. So much so that he says it was “beginning to get in the way of everyday life enjoyment.”

This caused him to do a “deep dive” into his health. He eventually found a doctor to run some tests on him and learned that he has a “really high sensitivity” to gluten.
According to some studies, including this one in the National Library Of Medicine, find associations between mood disorders and gluten intake.
Combs’ personal experience supports these findings.
“Ever since eliminating that, man, it’s changed my life mentally,” he revealed.

And while he said “There was no intent of, like, man, I should try to lose some weight,” he’s also noticed signs of weight loss since changing his diet.
For Combs, being a husband and father is “without a doubt” what motivates him to be healthy.
“Longevity is the goal,” he told ABC News. “Every day you get to spend with those guys is really fun and tough, and you need to be your best self to take care of them the way that you feel like they deserve to be taken care of.”
He later added, “It’s a long process, man. It’s a long road. It’s tough. It’s a challenge, man. I struggle with it every day.”
Things seems to be working in his favor because Combs was recently included in People’s Sexiest Man Alive issue.
The 34-year-old was shocked to hear that he was featured in the “Sexy at Any Age” portion of the issue and admitted, “That’s when I was like, ‘Down year, 1990, must’ve been a down year.’ I thought it was the most-cheeseburgers-eaten list, is what I thought it was…And then to see this guy on there, I was like, ‘Man, times are tough in 1990 for me to be the hottest guy.’”
Combs is fresh off the CMA Awards stage where he performed his massive hit, “Ain’t No Love In Oklahoma.” Heading into 2025, the superstar will enjoy some downtime before kicking off the new year with a run of headlining shows across New Zealand and Australia. Beginning January 17, Combs will perform at Stadiums across the two countries through February 8.
Later in the year, he will headline several festivals, including Tortuga Music Festival, Stagecoach, and Boots in the Park.

Many people frequently pop painkillers or over-the-counter medicines when having a headache or any kind of body ache. In some cases, you might be sick and would need to consume a dose of doctor-prescribed painkillers. In any case, it is important to note that consuming painkillers may come with certain side effects, which may negatively impact your kidneys. In a recent Instagram video, integrative lifestyle expert Luke Coutinho explains that chronic overuse of painkillers can lead to kidney failure or chronic kidney disease.
“The kidney produces a chemical called prostaglandins which is used to protect the kidney. It is also a hormone that helps you with blood clotting and several other functions. As you use more and more painkillers, these prostaglandins start to reduce and that reduces the protective mechanism of your kidneys, leading to kidney disease,” he explains in the video.

If you need to be on a painkiller because of any pain or treatment you are going through, there are certain things you can do to manage the side effects, as shared by Luke Coutinho.
Here Are 7 Diet And Lifestyle Changes To Follow While Taking Painkillers:
1. Increase Your Water Intake
When you are on painkillers, increasing your water intake can help protect your kidneys. Drink plenty of water throughout the day, unless you have been put on a water restriction by a doctor.
2. Increase Calcium And Vitamins Intake
Most painkillers will deplete calcium, magnesium and vitamin D from your body, shares the expert. It is important to get those essential nutrients back into your diet through supplements or food, based on your doctor’s advice.
3. No Smoking Or Drinking Alcohol
It is important to stop smoking and drinking alcohol, especially when you are on painkillers, as this can worsen the side effects.

4. Eat Nuts And Veggies
Consume a diet rich in vegetables, especially green leafy veggies. Eat lots of nuts because the healthy fats will also help protect your kidneys when you are on painkillers.
5. Moderate Protein Intake
Make sure you are eating protein-rich foods. However, it is best to consume a moderate amount of protein and not too much, explains Coutinho. Too much protein may put a load on the kidneys. Continue with moderate protein intake when you are continuously on painkillers.
6. Get Adequate Sleep
Sleep is essential for recovery from your illness as well as kidney protection. Make sure you are sleeping deeply because it is when we sleep that the body goes through its natural repair and detoxification protocols.
7. Manage Stress
Avoid taking stress and try to calm down. If you are feeling stressed, try to relax your mind and body. Your overall relaxation takes the burden off all of your vital organs.
If you need to be on painkillers, make sure you are eating the right foods and making the right lifestyle changes. Do not misuse painkillers and always take these as per your doctor’s prescription and direction.

The wait was worth it for North Allegheny graduate Luke Colella.
After biding his time for two seasons at Princeton behind a group of talented pass-catchers, Colella has become the Tigers’ top wide receiver.
Colella, a senior, moved into the starting lineup last season and earned honorable mention all-Ivy League honors and is once again Princeton’s leading receiver.
“I think I’m playing well and doing the best I can,” he said. “At the end of the day, I wanted to improve from last year and help improve the record of the team and leave a legacy, whether individually or team-wise.”
One season after posting 47 catches for 620 yards and six touchdowns as a first-year starter, Colella has 30 receptions and ranks in the top 10 in the Ivy League in receiving yards (418) and receiving TDs (five).
The former first-team all-conference selection at North Allegheny has been a bright spot for Princeton (2-6, 1-4 Ivy League), which is headed toward its first losing season since 2011.
“I feel like I’m doing what I can and doing the best I can to help the team win,” Colella said. “It’s been a little bit of a rocky road this year. I’m just focusing on how I can help the team.”
Colella had to wait to help the team after arriving at Princeton following a standout career at North Allegheny. His first season was canceled due to the pandemic. The 5-foot-10, 190-pounder played in one game as a freshman in ‘21 and then caught three passes for 6 yards as a sophomore while earning his keep on special teams.
The obstacles to playing time were understandable. Colella shared the wide receiver room with some of the top pass-catchers in Princeton history, including Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Andrei Iosivas.
“I think any kid who’s had a successful high school career and they come to college and they get told it’s not your time, I think it’s difficult for anybody,” Colella said. “For me personally, at the time I didn’t understand the impact of it, but I was thankful having guys in the receiver room who helped me along the way. … Guys who mentored me and told me to keep my head down and that my time would come.”
As a first-year starter in ‘23, Colella caught a touchdown in his first start against San Diego, had seven receptions for 121 yards and two TDs against Yale and five receptions for 98 yards in a 21-14 win over nationally ranked Harvard.
This season’s highlights include a 37-yard TD catch in a 30-13 win over Howard and six receptions for 96 yards and a TD in a 29-17 victory over Brown.
Princeton coach Bob Surace praised Colella for staying the course.
“It’s one of those challenges where the guys are used to being the star in high school and … had to get on special teams and work their way up,” Surace told reporters earlier this season. “To see Luke go from being that guy, he’s had to take every step and he’s been very good.”
Colella’s days at Princeton are almost over. He will play his final game at the school Nov. 23 against visiting Penn. Colella, who graduates next month with a degree in history, has entered the NCAA transfer portal.
“One way or another,” he said, “wherever I land, I am for sure planning on playing another year of football.”
Although he had to wait to get on the field, Colella is thankful for the path it led him on.
“At the end of the day, I’m just so grateful for this place,” he said. “If I hadn’t come here, I wouldn’t be the man that I am today. It’s a really special place, and I’m grateful for everything that I’ve accomplished here and every opportunity that I’ve been given.”

Getting to play Colin on Bridgerton “is such a gift,” says Luke Newton, 31, who has played one of the central family’s heartthrob brothers on the Netflix show for four seasons.
This year, the steamy period drama saw Newton transform into a romantic lead, and he took the glow-up seriously. Colin “had changed and become a man, and I wanted to embody that physically,” he says.
So who on the show is most like their character? “Most people say me. And I do take that as a compliment,” Newton says. But “I’d like to think I’m maybe less of a pushover and slightly stronger-willed.”
The actor sat down with PEOPLE at his shoot for the Royally Sexy portfolio in this year’s Sexiest Man Alive issue to chat more about the role and how his life has changed since joining the hit series.

What’s the best part about playing Colin? It’s that we get to come back year after year, and there’s been space in the story. There’s always a summer for our characters to grow and evolve and go through these wild experiences. And I think probably for Colin, he’s had this crazy experience of traveling and finding himself, so being able to portray multiple different versions of this character is something that I’ve really loved. He was a teenager when we first met him, and to see him now year after year, sort of step into adulthood was really fun to explore.
Do you feel transformed when you put on the costumes? Absolutely. I think I had a moment going into the new season where I was like, “It’s been a while now. How am I going to get back into this?” But I kind of just trusted the process of knowing as soon as I put my first costume on that it would change everything. And it does every time, no matter how many sort of rehearsals or script reads that we do. It really does just change when you get into those costumes.

Colin’s prominent sideburns seem almost as important as his clothes. Yeah, season three, we were very, very proud of those. It took us hours to really work those out, work out the exact shape, the line that we wanted. For me, I guess I took inspiration from Jonathan Bailey from the previous season, how he had these strong sideburns that felt very sort of well shaped and groomed, and I really wanted that. I don’t know, it was just fun to explore. The only thing is in normal life, it didn’t really go with anything, like if I’m in the coffee shop on a Sunday morning, you can kind of spot a Bridgerton from a mile away if you see those sideys!
What do you think you’d be doing if you weren’t an actor? It feels like a bit of a cop out, but something to do with music. I love to sing. Or maybe writing music and doing something where I’m able to perform. So maybe still under the bracket of the arts, but yeah, maybe singing in some capacity.

If you were really a member of a royal family, what perks do you think you’d enjoy? I guess for one, it would be the travel, being able to go to these amazing places. It’d be official duties to do that. And the way that you travel, I’m sure it’s very, very nice.
But also, I actually read somewhere that [one of the royal family] had someone wear their shoes in. I don’t know if that’s true or not but for a brand new pair of loafers, that could be quite handy. That’s a really good perk to have someone walk around in your loafers for a couple of weeks, wear them in get them nice and comfortable and ready for you.

What’s been one of your most memorable encounters with a fan? Wow. I mean, on the press tour, we would always do a screening or an event. So meeting fans on that sort of scale when they were dressed up and literally looked like they could walk onto the set of Bridgerton, that was always incredible, the effort that fans would put in. There was also a driver I’d had whilst in Paris and I’d been sharing a car with Ed McVey, who’s in The Crown. So we’d both been chatting in the back of the car and I think the driver had been sort of overhearing our conversation.
And then at the end of the trip, he was dropping me at the airport and as we got out he said, “Do you mind if I just take a picture for my wife? She loves The Crown.” And I just said, “Yeah, okay,” knowing full well that I’m not in The Crown, and his wife will be very disappointed when she sees a picture of me and her husband. So yeah, that was a real reality check, and it was kind of nice. Bring me back down to Earth.
So what does best keep you grounded? I think maybe my family and my friends. When I see them, just everything is normal and it’s kind of nice to have some sort of normality. But I guess even going back my upbringing, I’ve always just thought nothing I’ve ever done is that big. I don’t know why I can’t ever really understand or appreciate the scale. So I’m like, I just do what I do. The job, I love my job so much. I love the opportunities that it brings. And yeah, then I love my downtime as well. It’s great.
Do you remember the first time you were recognized? Actually, I feel like the whole process of that crazy word, fame, has been really gradual. I did a Disney show and I had some interaction with fans at that point in my career. And then being part of this incredible ensemble of Bridgerton for seasons one and two, it felt like I’ve been training for it. It feels like a real slow process of meeting fans gradually and being more and more recognized. But I think the one thing about the Bridgerton fans is they’re always so overwhelmingly positive and kind about the show.
How would you describe your year? It has been such a wild experience of the show coming out. It’s changed my life and I’ve loved it so much. It was like six months that we traveled promoting the show. So it’s now nice to get back to London and have some sort of some home comforts and some home-cooked meals.
What’s left on your bucket list? I’ve actually been thinking about moving abroad. I’d really like to just live somewhere, even for a few months, that’s got really nice weather. I’m enjoying traveling at the moment and being in the sun, and I feel healthy and happy when I’m there. So that’s definitely been put on my bucket list recently.
Saint Laurent coat, tee shirt, trousers and boots. Dolce & Gabbana belt. 886 Royal Mint necklace and rings. Tilly Sveaas ring.
How do you envision your life in 10 years? Maybe it goes with my bucket list that I’m living in some small sunny town in Italy and have pasta every day, and I still get to travel the world and work as an actor, but my life is very quiet and content. I don’t know. Yeah, that would be all right. I’d like to be on a balcony somewhere drinking coffee in Italy, reading a script for my next project. That’d be fun.
As the NFL season kicks off, all eyes are on fresh talent hitting the field. And one name that’s rising fast is Luke Wattenberg, the Denver Broncos‘ center. But hey! Before we hype his performance, let’s take a peek behind the curtain. A look at the folks who helped shape this guy into the player he is today. His parents!
Who is Luke Wattenberg’s mom?
Meet Margaret Lee Wattenberg, the powerhouse mom of Luke. As a retired elementary school teacher, she’s been lighting up more than just classrooms. Once upon a time, she was a volleyball star at St. Joseph High School, graduating back in ’83. Not stopping at volleyball, she was also a notable track and field athlete. Talk about versatility! After hitting up UCSB for undergrad, she snagged her teaching credential from Cal Poly, paving the way for her dedication to educating little future leaders.

Margaret’s touch is all over Luke’s life. He often goes on about how her support and lessons about hard work were game-changers. It’s easy to see how her spirit of perseverance has fueled Wattenberg‘s passion, especially after racking up accolades like the All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention and getting drafted by the Broncos. Imagine the pride she must feel watching her son carve out his space in the NFL, knowing she played a part in molding that determination.
But you gotta know that the athletic prowess runs deep in the Wattenberg family tree. Margaret’s sister-in-law, Shauna, was no joke—she was a star in both softball and volleyball. And then there’s her father-in-law, Bob Wattenberg, a coaching legend for the Orcutt Express fastpitch softball team, leading them to national championships. With that foundation, it’s like Luke hit the genetic jackpot, growing up in a family that eats, sleeps, and breathes sports.

Who is Luke‘s dad?
Now,let’s shift the spotlight to Robert Wattenberg, Luke’s dad. He’s a former basketball player from St. Joseph High School, graduating in ’80, who parlayed that athletic background into a solid career. Robert dug into the engineering world and got his degree in electrical engineering from Cal Poly, blending smarts with sports. Now,he’s a sales manager at a cell phone equipment company, proving you can tackle life from multiple angles.
What’scool here? Robert’s mix of sports and sales likely rubbed off on the Broncoscenter in more ways than one. His old man’s sales skills must’ve sharpened Wattenberg’s own communication game, an essential tool when you’re out there strategizing with teammates. Growing up with a dad who’s both an athlete and a professional must have set some solid expectations for Luke.

Robert and Margaret met in Santa Maria, where their roots run deep. Robert’s pop, Bob, wasn’t just a family man; he was a respected coach who helped mold community champions. That kind of legacy isn’t just background noise; it’s the heartbeat of the Wattenberg family.
With parents who boast solid athletic and impressive academic credentials, it’s no wonder Luke’s making waves. Luke Perry’s unexpected death in 2019 at the age of 52 left fans and colleagues devastated. Known for his iconic roles on Beverly Hills, 90210 and Riverdale, Perry was adored by millions. His sudden stroke came as a shock, especially given that the actor appeared to be in good health. However, new findings suggest that several underlying factors may have contributed to his untimely demise, shedding light on potential risks that were previously overlooked.
Luke Perry’s death was the result of a massive ischemic stroke-a condition that occurs when a blood clot blocks an artery leading to the brain. Despite being a seemingly healthy and active individual, this stroke took his life quickly and unexpectedly. Forensic pathologist Dr. Michael Hunter, on the show Autopsy: The Last Hours of…, explored the possible causes of Perry’s stroke, taking into consideration his lifestyle, health history, and genetic predispositions.
Luke Perry (‘Sensacin de vivir’), hospitalizado tras sufrir un derrame cerebral
One factor Dr. Hunter considered was Perry’s frequent air travel due to his busy filming schedule. Perry had flown back and forth between Los Angeles and Vancouver in the days leading up to his death while working on Riverdale. Long flights can increase the risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a condition where blood clots form in the legs due to prolonged inactivity. These clots can sometimes travel to the lungs or brain, causing life-threatening complications.
However, despite the increased risk of DVT, Dr. Hunter noted that it is “extremely rare” for these clots to cause strokes, especially during flights lasting less than six hours.
Genetics and lifestyle: key factors
Perry’s family history also played a critical role in his health risks. His father died of a heart attack at the age of 35, which pointed to a potential genetic predisposition for cardiovascular problems. Dr. Hunter suggested that Perry’s family history of heart disease could have made him more susceptible to strokes, especially when combined with other risk factors.
Another contributing factor was Perry’s history as a smoker. Smoking significantly increases the risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke, and though Perry had quit years before his death, the long-term damage from smoking may have already taken its toll on his body. Dr. Hunter emphasized that smoking is one of the leading causes of stroke, making it a likely contributor to Perry’s sudden health crisis.
His health scare in 2015
In 2015, Perry had a major health scare when doctors discovered precancerous growths in his colon during a routine colonoscopy. This discovery led him to make significant lifestyle changes, including adopting a healthier diet, cutting back on red meat, and becoming an advocate for colorectal cancer screening. He used his platform to encourage others to undergo early screenings, emphasizing how this simple procedure could save lives.
Despite his efforts to lead a healthier life after this scare, the stroke that took Perry’s life shocked those who knew him. His commitment to staying fit and making better lifestyle choices appeared to make him an unlikely candidate for such a sudden and severe health event. Yet, his genetic predisposition, past smoking habits, and the cumulative impact of stress and travel likely all contributed to his fate.
Lessons from Luke Perry’s death
Luke Perry’s passing serves as a tragic reminder of the importance of understanding personal health risks. Genetics, lifestyle choices, and even something as routine as air travel can all contribute to unforeseen health problems. While Perry made efforts to live a healthier life in his later years, the combination of factors that led to his stroke serves as a sobering lesson for everyone to be proactive about their health, particularly when there are known family histories of cardiovascular disease.
His death also highlights the importance of regular check-ups and being vigilant about the warning signs of health issues. Even seemingly minor symptoms can be indicative of more serious underlying problems.
Luke Perry’s legacy will always be remembered in Hollywood and by fans around the world, but his passing underscores the need for greater awareness of health risks and preventive measures.
On Sept. 27, country singer Luke Bryan released his newest album, “Mind Of A Country Boy.” The album featured 14 songs, including “Country On” which he released as a single in 2022, and “But I Got a Beer In My Hand,” which he also released as a single in 2023.
Overall, the themes in “Mind of a Country Boy” were quite a shift from those of his previous albums. Bryan is typically known for his up-tempo jams like “Country Girl (Shake It For Me),” “That’s My Kind of Night” and “Play It Again.” However, “Mind of a Country Boy” prominently features more tame themes of him as a father, husband and Christian.
On par with the more soft-natured themes, most tracks on the album were slow-tempo songs with a heavy emphasis on the story the lyrics conveyed. The themes of this album showed just how much Bryan has matured and changed as a person and singer since his release of albums like “Tailgates & Tanlines” and “Crash My Party.”
The only song that broke the pattern of slow-tempo tracks was the fifth song on the album, “But I Got a Beer In My Hand.” Its quick tempo, strong guitar instrumentation and lyrics about recently getting dumped were a shocking contrast to the songs before and after it. After listening to the entire album, this song feels out of place and should have remained a single.
The one song that came close to the energy that “But I Got a Beer In My Hand” has was “Country Song Came On.” While the background instrumentals were slow, the lyrics picked up for the chorus. This song was also the closest to Bryan’s older music and themes with lyrics like “Said I wasn’t gonna drink/ And then a country song came on, yeah.”
Another song that stood out in the album was “For The Kids.” For most of the album, Bryan sings about finding love with lyrics such as “I’ll do anything for ya’, baby, God knows” and “the key to your heart’s in her back pocket.” However, in “For The Kids” there is a startling divergence with lyrics like “We swore we’d never end up like this/ Married for the kids” that suggest an unhappy marriage.
What’s more, almost every song on the album had a copied and pasted slow guitar background with unnotable lyrics that blurred together.
The only track that gave listeners any hope of hearing similar music to Bryan’s older albums was the track “Mind Of A Country Boy.” The banjo and strong downbeat in the intro get listeners excited for a hard-hitting tune, but that drive quickly disappears once Bryan starts singing.
On top of the disappointing instrumentals, the lyrics were almost cringeworthy, hitting every single country music stereotype. Bryan strings together a list of things that are on the mind of a country boy with lyrics such as “Is the trickle charger hooked up to the boat?/ Is the pattern right on my turkey choke?/ Are them Appaloosa cats gonna bite?” which can be off-putting to anyone unfamiliar with these terms or lifestyle.
While as a whole the album highlights the lifestyle changes the singer has experienced, it felt lackluster and repetitive. The thematic changes from track to track give the listener whiplash and create a confusing and unpleasant experience when listening to the album as a whole.
Individual tracks were able to shine and showcase Bryan’s musicianship but overall, they were buried in the disappointing album.
Ghee, also called clarified butter, is widely used in Indian cuisine for cooking. Ghee is made up of healthy fats and helps improve digestion, gut health and may even aid weight loss. Talking about weight loss, there is one beverage that has risen in popularity in the past few years for its reported weight loss benefits. This drink is called ghee coffee or bullet coffee, in which a small amount of ghee is mixed or blended with black coffee. People usually consume this drink first thing in the morning. Many celebrities have also admitted that they drink this unusual combination regularly as part of their fitness diet.
But does ‘ghee coffee’ work holistically in the long run? Calling this drink as a “shortcut”, integrative lifestyle expert Luke Coutinho said he would like to take “many moments of silence for the people who think ghee coffee will help them lose weight.” On his Instagram handle, he wrote, “There are no shortcuts to fat loss.” According to Luke, the better way to consume ghee and coffee is “separately”. For weight loss, he suggests “eat smart, move more, sleep and breathe deep and stay consistent…keep it simple.” He added, “Stop looking for shortcuts and cherry-picking science to suit your fads…do the work, change your behaviour and actions and repeat.”
The post caught the attention of diet-conscious viewers and people on a weight loss journey. Soon, the comments section flooded with doubts and remarks around ‘ghee coffee’. Take a look:
An Instagram user wrote, “Oh I just had it a few days ago..just one time..but it helped me not to have unwanted cravings for a good 3- 4 hours.” To this, Luke said, “What happens when you have cravings again in the evening or night …it’s better to work on behaviour than these fads. Protein can do the same too.”
A person following food trends asked, “If it’s not good then why are celebrities and their so-called high-profile nutritionists promoting this everywhere big time?” Another argued, “But it’s a good pre-workout giving cleaner energy than the sugar-loaded ones people generally have.” To this, the lifestyle coach replied, “The only energy you need before a workout is apt from great mitochondrial health.” Also Read:How To Plate Your Meal To Lose Weight, Nutritionist Explains
One joked, “Better to have Ghee Halwa than Ghee Coffee.” Sharing a pointer from Luke’s previous work, one asked, “What about coffee with coconut oil … I read in your book it acts as a fat burner.” To this, he said, “Coconut oil and ghee are different … Coconut is an MCT (medium chain triglycerides) and yeah that makes sense.”
