Ruben Amorim wins first game with Sporting since he was confirmed as Man United’s new boss – as Red Devils target Viktor Gyokeres scores FOUR in 5-1 win

    • Sporting crushed Estrela Amadora 5-1 to continue their perfect league start

Ruben Amorim may be on his way to Manchester United, but if Friday night’s performance is anything to go by he’s certainly leaving Sporting fans with a few parting gifts.

His side demolished Estrela Amadora 5-1 in Lisbon with Viktor Gyokeres dismantling the defence with four goals in a stunning performance to maintain the Portuguese champions’ perfect start.

Maximiliano Araujo netted the fifth goal for the hosts in the 85th minute, while Rodrigo Pinho netted in the first half for Estrela Amadora, but Sporting simply had too much to handle.

Gyokeres’ first goal came in the 19th-minute, profiting from a loose deflection inside the box to the left, before cutting in and curling past Estrela Amadora goalkeeper Bruno.

His second – 12 minutes later – was a powerful right-footed strike into the roof of the net from near the edge of the box, having intelligently beaten the offside trap.

And just before the break, the Swedish striker signed from Coventry City, completed his hat-trick in 23 minutes with a penalty, confidently converted.

Unsurprisingly given the scoreline, Amorim’s side put on an assured show for the Sporting crowd, who are waving goodbye to their boss.

With 20 shot and 65 per cent of the ball, it was perhaps a display that watching Manchester United fans might get excited about.

Gyokeres was in fact asked whether he would be joining Amorim at Old Trafford any time soon, replying: ‘I don’t know. I’m here, and as you can see, I enjoy it.’

He added: ‘Sad that Amorim is leaving, he’s done amazing here, we will do the same job and keep the same faith in the team. We all wish him the best.’

Amorim himself has faced questions all week on United’s interest ever since Erik ten Hag’s departure on Monday.

And that trend continued after the match, with the line of intrigue now turning to how he expects the Sporting fans to react in his final home game before he leaves.

Amorim admitted that he is prepared to take whatever send off he gets from Sporting's home fans - be that anger or praise

‘In the next home game, whether we win or lose by 15-0, I’ll be there to see what the fans want to give me,’ he replied.

‘I understand their anger, but we move on and time heals everything. It was the best period of my life.’

New Jersey man pleads guilty in smuggling scheme intended to aid Russia’s war effort

NEW YORK — A New Jersey man who was among seven people charged with smuggling electronic components to aid Russia’s war effort pleaded guilty Friday to conspiracy to commit bank fraud and other charges, authorities said.

Vadim Yermolenko, 43, faces up to 30 years in prison for his role in a transnational procurement and money laundering network that sought to acquire sensitive electronics for Russian military and intelligence services, Breon Peace, the U.S. attorney in Brooklyn, said in a statement.

Yermolenko, who lives in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey and has dual U.S. and Russian citizenship, was indicted along with six other people in December 2022.

Prosecutors said the conspirators worked with two Moscow-based companies controlled by Russian intelligence services to acquire electronic components in the U.S. that have civilian uses but can also be used to make nuclear and hypersonic weapons and in quantum computing.

The exporting of the technology violated U.S. sanctions, prosecutors said.

The prosecution was coordinated through the Justice Department’s Task Force KleptoCapture, an interagency entity dedicated to enforcing sanctions imposed after Russian invaded Ukraine.

Attorney General Merrick Garland said in statement that Yermolenko “joins the nearly two dozen other criminals that our Task Force KleptoCapture has brought to justice in American courtrooms over the past two and a half years for enabling Russia’s military aggression.”

A message seeking comment was sent to Yermolenko’s attorney with the federal public defender’s office.

Prosecutors said Yermolenko helped set up shell companies and U.S. bank accounts to move money and export-controlled goods. Money from one of his accounts was used to purchase export-controlled sniper bullets that were intercepted in Estonia before they could be smuggled into Russia, they said.

One of Yermolenko’s co-defendants, Alexey Brayman of Merrimack, New Hampshire, pleaded guilty previously to conspiracy to defraud the United States and is awaiting sentencing.

Another, Vadim Konoshchenok, a suspected officer with Russia’s Federal Security Service, was arrested in Estonia and extradited to the United States. He was later released from U.S. custody as part of a prisoner exchange that included Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich and other individuals.

The four others named in the indictment are Russian nationals who remain at large, prosecutors said.

Watch: Bali Man Survives On Fruits Alone, And People Online Have A Lot To Say About It

The vegetarians vs. non-vegetarians debate? Old news. Recently, Jeff, a fruitarian from Bali, shared his daily routine of an all-fruit, uncooked diet, sparking debates across social media. His clip, captioned “What I Eat in a Day as a Fruitarian,” quickly went viral and has everyone talking. In the video, Jeff joked, “And I have not yet died of protein deficiency,” while walking viewers through his day, meal by meal.
First up, breakfast: fresh coconut, cracked open and ready to go. Jeff shares, “Today’s breakfast is fresh coconut, mainly because of its super simple, crack-it-open record.” For anyone wondering, it’s as minimalist as it gets! Post-breakfast, he heads into a workout and follows up with his first “made meal” of the day – two huge red dragon fruits. “I live here in Bali, and these things are pretty much staples in the diet because they are absolutely amazing,” he adds.
Lunch is a green juice made from celery, pineapple, ginger, and lime, which he preps like a pro. Jeff explains, “It was super good. I did one and a half periods, followed by a few squats,” as he chops and blends up his ingredients.
For dinner around 5:30, Jeff goes all out with a massive salad loaded with avocado, peppers, and cucumber noodles. He smiles, saying, “This was holy delicious,” while holding up his bowl of colourful veggies.
And Jeff’s caption? “Do I need meat? Leave a comment and let me know if you think I will wither away and die soon of a protein deficiency at some point. Because everyone loves telling people on the internet what to eat LOL.”

With over 5 million views, it’s fair to say people are invested in Jeff’s fruit-based diet and lifestyle.
Some users weren’t holding back: “You can tell by his voice he’s about to pass out just for talking,” wrote one. Another quipped, “Who allowed you to take the fruits from the plants?” to which Jeff responded with “God.” But the commenter shot back, “God also allowed eating some animals, so don’t deprive yourself.”
“He works out for a couple of hours and has no muscle at all,” one commenter remarked, while another asked, “How are u managing to function off 300 calories a day?” And then there’s the sceptic: “He [is] faking it for the (Insta)gram.”
But not everyone was there to critique – Jeff had some support in the mix. “Don’t listen to what people say. Keep going,” encouraged one viewer. Another chimed in, “This man clearly loves his health, life, and body! I’m cheering you on.”
So, what’s your take? Does Jeff’s fruitarian diet sound doable or are you team team ‘need more than just fruit’? Let us know in the comments!

Ruben Amorim arrives at Sporting Lisbon’s HQ in his Porsche to take training as Man United manager saga drags on over notice period pay-off – with players furious over his plans to walk out

Ruben Amorim has arrived as Sporting Lisbon’s headquarters to take training as negotiations continue over his potential departure to Man United.

Several Sporting players have reportedly expressed their frustrations with Amorim as the 39-year-old prepares to leave the Portuguese champions just nine matches into the new league season.

Amorim was seen arriving at the training centre in his Porsche on Wednesday morning, having overseen their 3-1 win over Nacional in the League Cup on Tuesday night.

He had faced a series of questions post-match over his potential departure to become Man United boss following the sacking of Erik ten Hag.

Earlier in the day Sporting released a statement confirming United’s plan to pay the €10million (£8.5m) release clause to buy Amorim out of his contract.

‘Manchester United is interested, but it’s my choice,’ he said. ‘Until everything is decided, we won’t be making any noise. I have nothing useful to say. I will take on whatever I want to do, as I have always done.

‘I don’t want to fuel this issue. There is the club’s statement to the CMVM, apart from that we don’t know the details yet, we’ll see.

‘I have always taken responsibility for my decisions and I will be here to do so, but when I am sure of things it will be easier.’

Man United are looking to tie up a deal with Sporting for Amorim, with the hope he could be in the dugout on Sunday for their Premier League clash against Chelsea at Old Trafford.

Mail Sport revealed on Tuesday that Amorim has a notice period of ‘a number of weeks rather than days’, leaving the clubs negotiating over the timing of his departure.

Portuguese newspaper O Jogo have reported that several Sporting players have been angered over Amorim’s likely departure.

The outlet claims Sporting stars Viktor Gyokeres and Morten Hjulmand are unhappy, with the in-demand pair having been ‘enticed’ to stay at the club in the summer with the aim of defending the Portuguese title with Amorim.

Amorim admitted he had addressed Man United’s interest to the Sporting squad during their pre-match preparations against Nacional.

‘There was no talk of anything, it was just before the set pieces to get the elephant out of the room,’ Amorim said.

‘Before the statement was released, I explained to the players everything that was happening. There is nothing more to say.

‘I don’t interfere in the players’ lives, but I am the coach, I spoke with the board to understand how to manage the squad.

‘Without a doubt my players will be disappointed with me if I leave, but it’s part of life. That happened in Braga, when I came.

‘That happened a bit, because they were disappointed.’

Amorim has already faced criticism from some fans and former club officials should he move to Man United, amid claims he has ‘abandoned’ the club.

The 39-year-old has led Sporting to two domestic titles since taking charge in 2020.

Amorim had served as Braga manager for just 13 matches before leaving for Sporting.

  • British man sentenced to 18 years for using AI to make child sexual abuse imagery

British man sentenced to 18 years for using AI to make child sexual abuse imagery

LONDON — A British man who used artificial intelligence to create images of child abuse was sent to prison for 18 years on Monday.

The court sentenced Hugh Nelson, 27, after he pleaded guilty to a number of sexual offenses including making and distributing indecent images of children and distributing “indecent pseudo photographs of children.” He also admitted to encouraging the rape of a child.

Nelson took commissions from people in online chatrooms for custom explicit images of children being harmed both sexually and physically.

Police in Manchester, in northern England, said he used AI software from a U.S. company, Daz 3D, that has an “AI function” to generate images that he both sold to online buyers and gave away for free. The police force said it was a landmark case for its online child abuse investigation team.

The company said the licensing agreement for its Daz Studio 3D rendering software prohibits its use for creating images that “violate child pornography or child sexual exploitation laws, or are otherwise harmful to minors.”

“We condemn the misuse of any software, including ours, for such purposes, and we are committed to continuously improving our ability to prevent it,” Daz 3D said in a statement, adding that its policy is to assist law enforcement “as needed.”

Bolton Crown Court, near Manchester, heard that Nelson, who has a master’s degree in graphics, also used images of real children for some of his computer-generated artwork.

Judge Martin Walsh said it was impossible to determine whether a child was sexually abused as a result of his images but Nelson intended to encourage others to commit child rape and had “no idea” how his images would be used.

Nelson, who had no previous convictions, was arrested last year. He told police he had met like-minded people on the internet and eventually began to create images for sale.

Prosecutor Jeanette Smith said outside court that it was “extremely disturbing” that Nelson was able to “take normal photographs of children and, using AI tools and a computer program, transform them and create images of the most depraved nature to sell and share online.”

Prosecutors have said the case stemmed from an investigation into AI and child sexual exploitation while police said it presented a test of existing legislation because using computer programs the way Nelson did is so new that it isn’t specifically mentioned in current U.K. law.

The case mirrors similar efforts by U.S. law enforcement to crack down on a troubling spread of child sexual abuse imagery created through artificial intelligence technology — from manipulated photos of real children to graphic depictions of computer-generated kids. The Justice Department recently brought what’s believed to be the first federal case involving purely AI-generated imagery — meaning the children depicted are not real but virtual.

  • Viral Now: Man Questions Zomato Hyperpure For Selling Fake Analogue Paneer To Restaurants, Internet Reacts

Viral Now: Man Questions Zomato Hyperpure For Selling Fake Analogue Paneer To Restaurants, Internet Reacts

Eating out at restaurants or ordering food at home has become common, especially in cities. When eating from outside, some people may prefer eating foods that appear to be “healthier” than the typical junk food. However, a viral post on X (formerly Twitter) has called into question the quality of ingredients used by restaurants. An X user shared a screenshot of “analogue paneer” sold to restaurants on the Zomato Hyperpure website. For the unversed, Hyperpure is Zomato’s end-to-end restaurant supply chain solution for the HoReCa (Hotels, Restaurants and Caterers) industry. Products available on Hyperpure include fresh groceries, fruits and vegetables, poultry, meats and seafood, gourmet foods, packaging, consumables, and kitchen equipment.

Sharing a screenshot of the “analogue paneer,” the X user wrote, “India loves paneer dishes, and restaurants sell fake paneer made with vegetable oils without any disclaimer. They make you believe that you are eating healthy food by eating a variety of paneer dishes over junk food. This is being sold on the website of Zomato for restaurants.”

Also Read:Viral: X User Shares Zomato’s Response To Wrong Order, Internet In Disbelief

The screenshot shows the product “Soft and Fresh Paneer (Analogue), 1 Kg”. The product is priced at Rs 205.53/kg for 5kg+ and Rs 207.05/kg for 3 kg+. A part of the product details as shown in the screenshot include “Made from skimmed milk” and “Fit for Tikka and gravy paneer dishes.” NDTV tried to reach out to Zomato, but there has been no response yet.

    What Is Analogue Paneer?

Analogue paneer is also called by many as “fake paneer” or “synthetic paneer” since it is not made entirely of dairy. This type of paneer is often made from milk and vegetable oil. The cost of making this paneer is generally cheaper than the traditional paneer made completely from dairy.

Disclaimer: NDTV does not vouch for the claims in the post by the X user.

The X post went viral, garnering more than 145K views and several comments. Take a look:

“Everything is adulterated or highly expensive,” a disappointed user wrote. Another said, “Seriously disappointed that @zomato is complicit in allowing this so openly.”

An X user expressed, “No wonder that restaurants will use this to reduce cost. The thumb rule is – If you are ordering food, consider it junk. Any nutritional benefit will be an added advantage.”

Sir Bobby Charlton died exactly one year ago and the Manchester United legend left behind a strong legacy.

The former England star – who won the World Cup in 1966 – left thousands of pounds to good causes when he passed away at the age of 86.

One of his donations helped to set up a football academy for youngsters in Manchester.

Street Reds was launched by the Sir Bobby Charlton Foundation along with the Manchester United Foundation and it offers free football and alternative activities for people between the ages of eight and 18.

As well as helping youngsters develop their football skills, it also provides opportunities to gain new qualifications.

Street Reds sessions are free and aim to help some of the most underprivileged young people, including many refugees and victims of conflict.

Head coach Mike Dugdale told The Mirror: ‘We had a huge donation [from Sir Bobby] that allows this to happen, and the turnout every week is brilliant.

‘What’s great is we have a lot of kids who are 14 and over which is a critical age – we get them off the streets and engaged in football.

‘The primary purpose is football engagement and getting kids onto the pitch – but we do see some special players who we can signpost to the academies.’

Street Reds, which launched in August, is very similar to the famous Bobby Charlton Soccer Schools that first opened in the 1970s.

‘It is a very natural intersection of the elements, and we are delighted to team up with Manchester United Foundation to bring this to a reality.’

During his life, Charlton also raised money for cancer hospitals and founded his own charity to fund research into improved civilian landmine clearance.

This Indian man runs Rs 1.10 lakh crore business empire, leads a humble lifestyle, has no mobile phone, owns a car worth only Rs…, not Jimmy Tata
    Rama Murthy Thyagarajan

New Delhi: The founder of the Shriram Group Rama Murthy Thyagarajan is a billionaire who heads a whopping Rs 1.10 lakh crore business empire. Despite being filthy rich, Rama leads a very simple and normal life. He lives in a modest house, drives a simple car worth Rs 6 lakh, and also avoids using a mobile phone. Today, in this article, we will delve into his lifestyle and understand how one can lead a simple lifestyle despite being super wealthy.

    Rama Murthy Thyagarajan Journey:

Rama Murthy Thyagarajan founded the Shriram Group in the 1960s. The group which started as a small chit fund company slowly became of the biggest financial giants, with Shriram Finance alone reaching a market valuation of Rs 1.10 lakh crores. Rama, who earlier used to work in an insurance company, put all his expertise in shaping his new business. He avoided making the same mistakes that other traditional banks were making for a long period. He noticed that traditional banks were often unwilling to serve certain groups, such as truck drivers and low-income earners.

Rama bridged this gap and decided to concentrate on offering loans to these overlooked communities, especially financing commercial vehicles. Soon, his strategy paid off, and the company quickly expanded by meeting the needs of people who had few other options for financial assistance. His business mantra was not to serve the rich but to understand the problems of common man and also provide solutions.

    Rama Murthy Thyagarajan Lifestyle:

Rama Murthy Thyagarajan leads a very simple and modest lifestyle. Even after having so much wealth, he prefers to stay away from limelight. People close to him state that he keeps him away from all forms of luxury. He once sold his stake in a USD 750 million company, choosing to donate the money to a trust.
