The event spotlighted traditional delicacies, textiles, and performances from the five southern states: Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. It was a melting pot of flavours, colours, and achievements. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, several Union ministers, as well as diplomats and eminent personalities from diverse fields. The Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto was also the chief guest for this year’s Republic Day parade.

The guests were welcomed by a couple from one of the five southern states – Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala – in their mother tongues while wearing the region’s customes. The special invitees at the reception included ‘drone didis’, women achievers, agriculturists engaged in natural farming, and ‘divyang’ achievers. There was a brief performance of musicians from these states as well as a display of their textiles. Various dishes were served to the guests at the high tea. The “At Home” reception was inclusive for the ‘divyangjan,’ and there were people to assist them.

The high tea menu featured gongura pickle stuffed kuzhi paniyaram, (pan-fried fermented rice dumplings with sorrel leave pickle), Andhra mini-onion samosa, tomato peanut chutney (mini patti samosa filled with spiced onions), karuveppilai podi ghee mini ragi idli (steamed finger millet rice cakes, tossed in ghee and a curry leaf spice mix). The menu also included Udupi uddina vada (crispy doughnut-shaped lentil fritters), mini masala uttappam with podi (fermented rice pancakes with gun powder), kondakadalai sundal (tossed chic peas with spices), murukku, banana chips, and tapioca chips.

Dessert options included rawa kesari (sweet dish made with semolina, ghee, sugar and saffron), parippu pradaman (lentil coconut milk pudding with palm jaggery), mysore pak (dry sweet with condensed milk), dry fruit putharekalu (rice starch flaky pastry with jaggery and nuts) and ragi ladoo. To complement the food, guests were served beverages such as green vegetable juice, orange juice, tender coconut water, elaichi tea, Nilgiri filter coffee, and green tea.

  • Mezze Mambos Sweater Weather Menu Is A Warm Embrace for Chilly Nights

Mezze Mambos Sweater Weather Menu Is A Warm Embrace for Chilly Nights

As the temperatures drop and the air turns crisp, Mezze Mambo has embraced the season with its ‘Sweater Weather’ menu- a delightful collection of winter-inspired dishes designed to warm both the soul and the stomach. But the experience is not just about the food; it’s a full sensory celebration. Upon entering Mezze Mambo, you’re immediately struck by its vibrant, lively atmosphere. The two-story restaurant, with its sleek modern design and a striking silver globe centrepiece, creates a chic yet energetic vibe. A live DJ spins uplifting music that adds an electric, almost party-like atmosphere to the space- so much so that you might find yourself swaying to the beat between bites of your meal.

On a recent chilly evening, I had the pleasure of diving into this new winter offering, and I can confidently say it was the perfect antidote to the cold. The menu, full of hearty, warming dishes, pairs wonderfully with the buzzing energy of the venue, making it the ideal spot for both a cosy dinner and an unforgettable night out.

The meal began with two expertly crafted cocktails: the Mambo Picante, a spicy, smooth concoction made with Patron tequila, and the Something Fruity, a refreshing blend of Hendricks Gin and fruit notes. Both drinks were a lovely introduction to the evening- refreshing yet with enough warmth to complement the season.

For appetizers, the White Wine Garlic Prawns stole the show. Plump prawns bathed in a rich white wine and garlic sauce, punctuated by juicy cherry tomatoes, were so tantalizingly delicious that I almost considered ordering another round. Another standout starter was the Spicy Lamb Hummus-a perfect balance of creamy hummus and fiery lamb, served with soft, puffy pita bread. While the Pepperoni Hummus was also good, the lamb variant had a special kick that made it a memorable choice.

Latest and Breaking News on NDTV

For meat lovers, Mezze Mambo delivers a comforting lineup of hearty dishes. The Pork Koobideh and Pork Belly Shashlik are smoky, tender bites that will satisfy any carnivore’s cravings. The Moroccan Lamb Kebab offered a tantalizing balance of spices, and the Lamb Shorba, a traditional Moroccan soup, was the ultimate winter warmer-rich, savoury, and soul-soothing.
The real highlight, however, was the Mambo Pork Chilli. This dish is a fiery delight, perfectly spiced with just the right amount of heat to ward off any winter chill. The flavours were beautifully balanced, and each bite seemed to melt away the cold.

Latest and Breaking News on NDTV

Another dish that stood out was the Khyber Kebab, a chicken kebab stuffed with gooey cheese. It was as indulgent as it sounds-crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, with the cheese adding an unexpected richness that paired beautifully with the spiced chicken. Chicken Musakhan, the national dish of Palestine, was equally impressive. The roast chicken, served atop soft bread and infused with an array of spices, was just the dish one needs on a cold day.

For desserts, Mezze Mambo does not disappoint. The Strawberries & Cream Sundae is a timeless classic, with sweet, juicy strawberries balanced by velvety cream. But it was the Hot Chocolate Cheesecake that truly stole the spotlight. The combination of rich chocolate and creamy cheesecake created a decadent end to a perfectly indulgent meal. Another dessert I loved was Palestine Pound Cake – gooey, soft and oh-so-delicious.

From spicy starters to heartwarming mains and indulgent desserts, this menu offers something for every palate. Whether you’re looking to beat the winter chill or simply enjoy a cosy meal, or simply have a night out with friends, this menu, paired with the restaurant’s lively ambience, is sure to make your evening feel a little warmer and a lot more delicious.

    All About Christmas Dinner

The Christmas dinner is an exuberant feast that commemorates Christmas Eve. The traditional Christmas table is a feast like no other. To begin with, there are breads and cinnamon cookies. In Germany they eat stollen, a type of bread that is believed to resemble Christ’s swaddling clothes. In Belgium, cougnolle is baked in the shape of Baby Jesus. Next comes the roast turkey or chicken that forms the centerpiece of the table. In parts of France, you’ll mostly find roasted goose stuffed with chestnuts. More recently, roasted meats like lamb and beef have also gained popularity and are serve as an alternative to turkey. Another Catholic tradition is the Feast of the Seven Fishes, which is basically a fish pie. Christmas desserts are truly to die for. From flambéed Christmas puddings to the classic Yule log cake, you’re in for a treat. Wash them down with some traditional tipples like some mulled wine or eggnog while rum and brandy remain all-time favourites. Milk is believed to be the fuel for Santa to keep his journey going. This ritual can also be linked to the history of the Christmas tree. In Germany, people would decorate their trees, or what they called ‘a paradise tree’ with apple wafers and cookies. Santa was believed to nibble on these snacks. This later transformed into the tradition of placing cookies and milk for Santa. Side note: The ritual of making houses from ginger biscuits and cookies actually became popular after ‘The Grimm Brothers’ included this concept in their story, Hansel and Gretel.

    1. Palak Patta Chaat – with a twist

    Christmas 2024:

Christmas 2024: Palak patta chaat can be easily customised. Photo Credit: iStock

Palak patta chaat is a classic but wondering how to make it Christmassy? Fortunately, its ingredients are already on theme: green from the spinach and hari chutney, white from the dahi and reddish shades from imli chutney and pomegranate arils (typically used for garnish). To make your festive platter special, you can arrange the leaves of the palak like holly leaves and add the arils in the centre to represent cherries. Drizzle dahi to mimic hints of snow. Alternatively, arrange the leaves in a circular manner to make a mistletoe-like shape on a plate. Then carefully ‘decorate’ the patta. Use crisp sev to give a suggestion of shining golden elements on your Christmas platter. Read the basic recipe here for Palak Patta Chaat here.

    2. Dahi Bhalla Chaat

Dahi bhalla and dahi vada chaats are always crowd-pleasers, so definitely consider adding them to your Christmas party menu. Like palak patta chaat, the basic ingredients of this recipe too are already Christmas-themed. We recommend first cooking the bhallas, soaking them in the seasoned dahi and refrigerating them. Once you’re ready to serve, add them to bowls and carefully drizzle the imli and green chutneys with a small spoon on top. Garnish with pomegranate arils and chopped coriander leaves. Click here for a classic dahi bhalla recipe.

    3. Tangy Paneer Chaat

Combine green capsicum, peanuts, tomato, white radish and boiled potato/corn with some sweet chutney made with dates or tamarind (imli). Mix in finely chopped green chillies to add spice. Crumble lots of fresh paneer, stir slightly and serve immediately.

    4. Spicy Potato Chaat

    Christmas 2024:

Mix boiled potatoes, channa, capsicum and sprouts with hari chutney to get a wholesome and green base. Use honey and/or fruits like apples and grapes to bring some sweetness to the chaat and balance the spice of the chutney. Garnish with chopped tomatoes and pomegranate arils for the red layer. Instead of yellow sev, garnish with kurmura for extra crunch and to add a white element!

Mix strawberries/cherries kiwis, apples (red and green), bananas, dragon fruit, etc. to get a colourful Christmas-themed mix. Balance the acidity and flavours with a dash of lemon or orange juice. Season with chaat masala and add almond slivers for some festive crunch. Just before you serve, sprinkle some powdered sugar to give your bowl a fun frosty look!

  • Immerse Yourself In Delhis Charming Skyline With Cirrus 9s New Cocktail Menu

Immerse Yourself In Delhis Charming Skyline With Cirrus 9s New Cocktail Menu

If you are from Delhi, you’d know that its charm has been encapsulated in everything – from food to monuments. The city is brimming with fabulous options for drinks and dining, catering to every mood and occasion. And now, a new cocktail menu has come to the city to capture its essence. Cirrus 9 at The Oberoi, in collaboration with the renowned Italian mixologist Giancarlo Mancino, has release its Signature Skyline Cocktail menu, to celebrate the city’s landmarks and vibrant culture through artisanal drinks.

What chefs are to kitchens is what mixologists are to bars. While striking a beautiful balance between delicious flavours and strong spirits is an art, Mancino proved why he is considered a maestro. Each cocktail on the menu is a love letter to Delhi, beautifully blending history, art and innovative mixology.
We began our cocktail journey with a fantastic cocktail called Heritage Greens, which is an ode to Sunder Nursery. With its tropical, complex and zesty flavours, it was a refreshing view of Delhi’s lush heritage and iconic gardens.

Next up, we savoured Haat Haven, inspired by the vibrant and eclectic spirit of Dilli Haat. It was sweet, nutty and zesty – the perfect cocktail to represent Dilli Haat’s playfulness and hustling bustling atmosphere. To capture the essence of Delhi’s famous Purana Qila, we indulged in The Qila Legacy which offered earthy, floral and tingling notes. This cocktail is the perfect tribute to the monument’s rich history and timeless elegance.

If you love the grandeur of Bharat Mandapam, then The Mandapam Marvel would have been a delight for your taste buds. With its herbaceous, aromatic and incredibly refreshing ingredients, the Mandapam Marvel left us intrigued with every sip.

The timeless sophistication of Lutyens’ Delhi was captured by their offering – Lutyens’ Elegance. It has delicate, sweet-savoury and bitter notes that delivered a perfect blend of modernity and old charm.
As we progressed with our charming cocktails, the next on the list was the Connaught Classic – a fruity, vibrant, and herbaceous cocktail that captures the charm on Delhi’s Connaught Place.

Not only it, the menu also made sure the golf enthusiasts were entertained. The 18th Hole presented to us has bittersweet, fruity richness. While Altitude 124 offered smooth tropical and citrusy notes, a homage to Cirrus 9’s height.

We concluded our night with Astral Harmony. While it may seem like a sweet cocktail, it actually has a peppery, smoky, and acidic profile that is synonymous with Jantar Mantar’s harmony and grandeur.
All in all, the experience was fantastic. All the cocktails – which were paired with numerous finger foods and cheese platters – were not just about the spirits but an immersive experience into the soul of Delhi!

Now that we’re convinced of the potential, let’s talk about how to actually bring this fusion to life. You don’t have to completely overhaul your entire menu; you can give your classics a subtle Indian-inspired makeover.

    1. Masala Turkey

Let’s start with the centrepiece of your Thanksgiving meal: the turkey. Rather than just sticking with a traditional herb and butter roast, why not rub your turkey with a blend of Indian spices? A mixture of garam masala, turmeric, cumin, and a touch of chilli powder will infuse the turkey with an incredible depth of flavour. You can also marinate it overnight to let the spices really soak in. Roast as usual, and your turkey will come out with golden, aromatic skin and a juicy, tender inside that’s anything but ordinary.

    2. Indian-Spiced Stuffing

Stuffing is a must-have at Thanksgiving, but it’s time to get creative. Instead of the usual bread-based stuffing, why not try something different? You could use a base of basmati rice, or if you’re feeling extra adventurous, use quinoa or couscous. The key is adding Indian spices like cumin, cinnamon, and coriander, and mixing in some dried fruits like raisins or apricots for that perfect sweet and savoury balance. Toss in a few toasted cashews for crunch, and you’ve got a stuffing that’s rich, fragrant, and definitely memorable.

    3. Turmeric Mashed Potatoes

Let’s face it-mashed potatoes are one of the most beloved Thanksgiving dishes. But why not give them a colourful twist with a hint of turmeric? The golden hue is not only beautiful but adds a subtle warmth that takes mashed potatoes to the next level. Add in a little garlic, cumin, and cream for richness, and you’ve got a side that pairs perfectly with everything from turkey to roasted veggies.

    4. Spicy Cranberry Sauce

Cranberry sauce is a Thanksgiving classic, but what if it was a little spicier? Take your usual cranberry sauce recipe and spice it up with a pinch of garam masala, a dash of ginger, and a touch of chilli powder. The sweetness of the cranberries combined with the warm, aromatic spices will make your cranberry sauce a standout dish. You’ll have guests wondering why they’ve never had it this way before!

    5. Masala Roasted Vegetables

Roasted vegetables are a Thanksgiving favourite, but adding Indian spices like cumin, coriander, and turmeric can really elevate them. Roast a mix of carrots, sweet potatoes, and Brussels sprouts with a bit of olive oil, garlic, and spices. The result? A colourful, aromatic dish that’s packed with flavour and the perfect complement to your turkey and stuffing.

    6. Naan Bread or Roti

Who says you can’t have bread with your Thanksgiving meal? Instead of the usual rolls, try serving some freshly baked naan or roti alongside your feast. You can make a simple garlic naan or even add herbs and spices like cumin or chilli powder for an extra kick. These soft, warm flatbreads are perfect for sopping up all the flavorful gravies and sauces on your plate.

Blending Cultures, One Plate at a Time

Thanksgiving with an Indian masala twist isn’t just about the food; it’s about celebrating diversity and the beautiful ways that different cultures come together. By adding Indian spices to your Thanksgiving dishes, you’re not just mixing ingredients-you’re blending traditions. The vibrant flavours of India meet the warm, comforting traditions of Thanksgiving in a celebration of shared experiences, family, and food.

“Food has an incredible power to bring people together, no matter where they come from or what they celebrate,” says Khanna. “When you add an Indian twist to your Thanksgiving meal, you’re not just serving food-you’re serving a story. You’re telling a story of fusion, of different cultures finding common ground through flavours.”

Thanksgiving is about connection, and what better way to connect with others than by sharing food that’s familiar yet exciting? Adding an Indian masala twist to your Thanksgiving spread is a simple, fun way to celebrate the season with a bit of a global flair.

So, this year, why not spice things up? With these Indian-inspired dishes, your Thanksgiving meal will be one to remember. Happy Thanksgiving, and may your table be filled with flavour, love, and the perfect blend of traditions!

Miss Margarita Launched Its New Menu And It Is A Haven For Mexican Food (And Tequila) Lovers

Besides our classic north Indian cuisine, there are only a few other cuisines that have my heart and Mexican cuisine tops that small list. And whenever I crave it, Miss Margarita is one of my go-to places. So, naturally, when I got to know that Miss Margarita launched a new menu, I had to try it. Miss Margarita had the same lively vibe – the quirky interiors, swooning music and the tempting aroma of Mexican delights wafting through the air. All things same but a brand new menu.

I loved the look of the new cocktail menu. It is glossed with images and a brief description of each cocktail so you know what exactly you’ll be drinking. The margaritas have been refined with a more sophisticated approach, boasting well-garnished and complex profiles that delight the senses. I am a tequila drinker and I absolutely loved the Orange and Basil Margarita – a tequila cocktail livened up with orange zest, fresh basil, lime, triple sec and orange juice. It was the perfect recipe for a refreshing cocktail with a hint of sweetness.

Another cocktail that is not to be missed is Mexican Bulldog Margarita, primarily because of how it is served. A large goblet filled with tequila cocktail, lots of ice and garnished with upside-down Corona beer bottles! Intrigued? You have to see this marvel yourself. Bonus – it tastes great too.

If you are a tequila fan like me, Spiced Cucumber Agave is also a must-try. Patron is complemented by the flavours of cucumber cordial, spiced agave, Himalayan pink salt and more. The drink is not too spicy, just a tad bit, which makes it a great drink if you love classic tequila concoctions.

Last but not least, Watermelon and Jalapeno Margarita is also worth a try.

For non-tequila enthusiasts, there are exciting gin and whiskey cocktails that provide exciting alternatives for non-tequila drinkers. They have also launched a dedicated section for Picante, showcasing innovative creations like Fermented Pineapple & Habanero Picante which takes 25 days to craft from fermented pineapple juice, as well as Smoked Orange & Chipotle Picante.

Coming to food, I started my meal with Diablo Prawns Sizzle. I love prawns and this dish didn’t disappoint me – they were perfectly cooked and seasoned.

Next on my table – Grilled Tenderloin Tacos. The tacos were also good, the juicy meat made it a delightful eat. But what I really loved was the Cheesy Jalapeno Chipotle Chicken Quesadilla. Everything about this dish was perfect. But the best was yet to come. Yes, the dessert. The delicious Cinnamon Churros were just what I needed to end my meal on a sweet note.

A standout feature of the new menu is the introduction of a dedicated Vegetarian and Vegan section. This thoughtfully curated selection includes an impressive range of dishes, from appetizers to tacos, allowing vegetarian and vegan guests to indulge in a full satisfying meal without having to navigate meat-based options. For meat lovers, the non-vegetarian section has been enhanced with the addition of fresh ceviche. The new menu features a selection of Chimichangas that cater to both vegetarian and non-vegetarian preferences.

After this wonderful experience, I can’t wait go to back to Miss Margarita for another round of deliciousness.

  • The Imperials 1911 Brasserie Autumn Menu – Where Classics Take A Delicious Detour

The Imperials 1911 Brasserie Autumn Menu – Where Classics Take A Delicious Detour

The 1911 Brasserie at The Imperial has a lot of big shoes to fill – this place has been known to serve up a mix of elegance and tradition, and now it’s added a fresh, surprising Autumn twist. So, with its new Autumn Menu, 1911 isn’t just doing European classics or Indian-inspired dishes. Instead, it’s bringing them together in a way that’s… unexpected. This isn’t just your average fusion; it’s a menu that takes risks, and for the most part, they pay off.

The Dishes That Will Make You Think Twice

Let’s start with the Regal Caesar Salad. When you think “Caesar Salad,” you’re probably imagining a pile of romaine with croutons and a generous dusting of parmesan. But here, we get a salad that trades traditional croutons for chickpea ones and adds roasted Achari paneer into the mix. The saffron garam masala dressing pulls it all together with a hit of spice that somehow feels right at home on a classic salad.

Next up is the Imperial Paneer and Sabudana Burger. This isn’t just a veggie burger – it’s an experiment in textures, flavours, and proportions. With a patty that’s wide enough to be a hand workout, it’s filled with sago pearls and paneer, which gives it a creamy-crunchy vibe that’s unlike anything you’d get in a regular burger. It’s filling, savoury, and has just enough spice to remind you where you are: the heart of Delhi.
And then there’s the Imperial Schnitzel – a nod to European tradition, sure, but with a desi twist. Breaded chicken breast comes with lemon, cranberry sauce, and an anchovy hint. While it may not scream “India,” the complexity of flavours somehow feels more lively than your usual schnitzel experience.

    Going All-In On Indian Inspirations

For those who want a dish that’s unashamedly Indian, the Palak Badami Kofta is one to try. Think spinach and cottage cheese dumplings in a saffron and almond sauce – it’s like comfort food elevated. The Kebab & Tikki Sampler is another winner here, with a vegetarian platter that celebrates everything from beetroot and paneer to corn and cashew patties. Served with a trio of chutneys, it’s the kind of appetizer that doesn’t get old halfway through.

The Imperial’s Bold Play on Fusion

But what really stands out in this lineup? Dishes like the Indian Triple Decker Sandwich (chicken tikka, masala omelette, and mint chutney) and the Rock Lobster Malabar Curry are crowd-pleasers. The sandwich plays it safe but still satisfies, and the lobster curry brings in some coastal Indian flavours that somehow feel right at home in a high-end brasserie setting.
The Kaladi Cheese Quesadilla might raise some eyebrows – a traditionally Mexican favorite made with Jammu’s kaladi cheese? It’s fusion done right, in a way that makes you stop and think, “Why haven’t I tried this before?”

    Worth The Trip?

1911’s new Autumn Menu is a bold move. It’s full of dishes that push boundaries. If you’re in the mood for something unique – something that blends The Imperial’s grandeur with an Indian heart and European sensibilities – it’s worth a try. Just don’t come expecting the classics to stay classic.
