First Drive: 2025 MINI Countryman SE ALL4 Experience the All-Electric Lifestyle | Automotive

    2025 MINI Countryman SE ALL4--.jpg

A MINI is a unique vehicle for a unique customer. No matter if owners are rolling behind the wheel of a MINI Countryman or a MINI Cooper S, they will be appeased and enthused by the classic design themes, sporty proportions, and exhilarating go-kart performance of these lifestyle cars and crossovers. Now, electrification is part of the portfolio, highlighted by the all-electric 2025 MINI Countryman SE ALL4.

For the current lifecycle, the MINI brand is infusing its portfolio with 11 new models to change the outlook of consumer perception and to stay on top of the small car segment. By the end of 2025 the reinvention strategy will represent the most progressive changes since the company’s inception in 1959. A key focus will be on MINI’s largest models – (Countryman S and Countryman SE) which are longer, taller, and rebuilt from the ground up for traveling and active families. The compact SUV will help engaged owners thrive in both the city and the countryside, especially with increased interior room for gear and equipment and ALL4 all-wheel drive to take on any terrain type and adverse weather. It also represents the first MINI with Level 2 assistance systems for semi-automated driving, if that’s your thing. It’s definitely not mine because I want to control my ride at all times.

    2025 MINI Countryman SE ALL4_-.jpg

“The new all-electric, all-wheel-drive MINI Countryman is the epitome of versatility and driving pleasure. It is the first MINI “Made in Germany” and makes a statement for environmentally friendly mobility. Thanks to its increased dimensions, it is a vehicle for the entire family,” says Stefanie Wurst, head of MINI.

I had a chance to drive and evaluate the all-electric MINI Countryman SE in South Carolina at the BMW Performance Driving Center during the BMW Group’s annual media event featuring most of its roster. The Countryman SE exudes a sense of adventure and versatility, encapsulated in a bold design and cutting-edge technologies. With expectations of the MINI brand going all-electric by 2030, product planners laid the foundation for a mobility shift that will see a vastly reduced carbon footprint from MINI’s squad of legendary automobiles. Combining instantaneous electric torque, regenerative braking, and stellar cornering with dynamic driving, every road trip will be a joy.

The MINI SUV is ignited by two electric motors with a total output of 308-horsepower and 364 lb.-ft. of torque for a 0-to-60 mph acceleration time of 5.4 seconds. Combined with the 66.5 kWh lithium-ion battery, the Countryman SE can achieve an EPA electric range of up to 212 miles. However, that needs to increase dramatically to appease today’s drivers who are taking more long-distance journeys in their new rides. This vehicle should at least be able to hit 300 electric miles. As part of the EV ownership experience, plan to install a Level 2 charger (240-volt) at your home. This will alleviate the need to find public charging on busy days. Yet, expect to pay $1,000 or more for the unit and installation. However, you should be able to find local deductions from the state or your utility company.

    2025 MINI Countryman SE ALL4.jpg

The MINI Countryman SE embraces a minimalist silhouette, reflecting adventure and versatility. Overall, styling is more robust but streamlined with a surfboard-designed roof that cuts through the elements, a simplified power-dome hood, a new octagonal-shaped grille, new signature lights, 18” or 20” light alloy rims, a flush rear bumper, and vertical LED taillamps. A panoramic glass roof brings energetic light into the sustainable cabin.

The vertical theme follows the interior including the vents and door handles. A plant-based cockpit from leather-free upholstery, fewer parts for construction, and human-centric amenities are additionally implemented. The 9.4” OLED circular center display and MINI Operating System 9 provide all the necessary information for an intuitive drive. From here, you control the infotainment features, MINI Navigation, assistance systems, MINI Driving Sounds, and MINI Experience Modes, whether Core, Green, Personal, Timeless, Balance, Vivid, or Trail. The digital tunes from the MINI Driving Sounds coincide with the theme chosen for an immersive driving experience.

The enthusiastic MINI brand will continue to digitize its community while leaving a smaller carbon footprint behind. Its reduced economic dependence stems from 90% recycled materials, secondary aluminum, and increased sensors in place of heavier parts. Moreover, MINI’s philosophy of Charismatic Simplicity will dictate the design direction, focusing on three key elements: a sporty and thick multifunction steering wheel, intelligent command center, and toggle switches. I’m also a fan of the two-tone textiles lining the dash and doors. Everything about the car is simplistic and integrates sound, projection, and light for one curated driving encounter.

    2025 MINI Countryman SE ALL4___.jpg

With an MSRP of $45,200, there are two MINI Countryman style packages to choose from: Classic and Favoured. An 8-year / 100,000-mile battery warranty adds to the 4-year / 50,000-mile limited warranty and 3-year complimentary maintenance program. Upgrade to the $3,200 Iconic Trim package to receive privacy glass, power front seats, interior cameras, and the must-have Harmon Kardon audio system.

The fun, entertaining, and youthful 2025 Countryman SE ALL4 captures the essence and mindset of the MINI community, but now with an electrified attitude. Are you ready to ride the all-electric MINI wave?

  • France fans boo Israel team, mini fights break out

Some French fans booed the Israeli national anthem and there were minor scuffles inside a sparsely-attended Stade de France on Wednesday for a Nations League game overshadowed by frictions around the Israel-Hamas war.

Seeking to prevent a repeat of violence in Amsterdam last week around a Europa League game involving Maccabi Tel Aviv, 4,000 French security personnel were deployed in and around the stadium and on public transport.

Some 100 Israel fans defied a warning from their government against traveling for sports events, sitting in a corner of the 80,000-capacity stadium which was barely a fifth full.

They waved yellow balloons and chanted “Free the Hostages” in reference to Israelis held in Gaza by Hamas terrorists.

Some boos and whistles were heard during the playing of the Israeli national anthem, which was then turned up on loudspeakers.

As the match got underway, there was a melee near the Israel fans’ section for several minutes, with people seen running and punches thrown. Stewards quickly formed a barrier.

It was unclear what had triggered the trouble.

Leading up to the game, several hundred anti-Israeli demonstrators had gathered at a square in Paris’ Saint-Denis district, perimeter, waving Palestinian flags, as well as a few Lebanese and Algerian ones, to protest against the match.

“We don’t play with genocide,” one banner read, in reference to the Gaza war.

Israel denies allegations of genocide in its more than year-long offensive against terrorist group Hamas.

    No specific threat

Going into the ground, some Israel fans wore both Israeli and French colours. Two wore a t-shirt with Israeli club side Maccabi Tel Aviv’s logo on the front and the words “Ni Oubli Ni Pardon” (Never Forgive Never Forget) on the back.

One person held a paper with “fuck Hamas” written on it.

French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau said this week there was never any doubt the match would go ahead, following the unrest in Amsterdam which saw both Maccabi fans and local groups engage in violence, according to Dutch police.

He said there were no specific threats identified ahead of the game, but that zero risk did not exist.

French President Emmanuel Macron was at the game in a show of solidarity. “We will not give into anti-Semitism anywhere and violence, including in France, will never prevail, nor will intimidation,” he told BFM TV hours before kickoff.

The match came a day after the ninth anniversary of coordinated Islamist attacks on entertainment venues across the French capital, including the national stadium.

Racism and intolerance are rising in France, fuelled in part by the war in Gaza after the Hamas terror attacks on Israel in October 2023. Similar trends have been witnessed elsewhere in Europe.

Nearly 70 suspects have been arrested and at least five people were injured in last week’s clashes between Maccabi fans and gangs in Amsterdam.

  • Eurokars Group opens new BMW Eurokars Flagship Centre and Mini Habitat showrooms, Lifestyle News

Eurokars Group opens new BMW Eurokars Flagship Centre and Mini Habitat showrooms, Lifestyle News

The Eurokars Group has officially opened its new BMW Eurokars Flagship Centre and Mini Habitat showrooms along Leng Kee Road, following a major rejuvenation of both facilities.

The new showrooms feature the BMW Retail.Next and Mini Retail.Next concepts, which place a strong focus on delivering a premium customer experience.

The BMW Eurokars Flagship Centre, situated at 29 Leng Kee Road, joins the BMW Eurokars Experience Centre at 11 Kung Chong Road as the two main retail touchpoints for BMW Eurokars in Singapore.

The company says that most of the BMW models will be at the Flagship Centre, while ultra-high-end luxury and performance models like the M cars will be located at the Experience Centre.

BMW Eurokars spent an estimated $20 million to renovate the facility, which previously housed the Porsche Centre Singapore, into the new Flagship Centre.

The entire refurbishment project took about six months and the six-storey building spans approximately 3,258 sq m.

The showroom space occupies the first two levels of the facility, along with a customer lounge and two delivery suites where customers can take delivery of their cars.

The third floor features an event space, as well as BMW Eurokars’ corporate office, while the service centres for BMW and Mini are on the fourth and fifth storeys respectively.

Meanwhile, the Mini Habitat showroom next door at 27 Leng Kee Road has also undergone a refurbishment, and the three-storey facility houses a two-level showroom space, a hospitality lounge, a car delivery suite, corporate offices and meeting rooms, as well as an outdoor area on the third floor that can be used for events and customer parties.

There is also an integrated service reception in between both showrooms that cater to both BMW and Mini owners, and ensures that customers enjoy a streamlined and personalised experience when they bring their cars in for servicing.

A key highlight of both the BMW Eurokars Flagship Centre and the Mini Habitat is the Emotional Virtual Experience (EVE) section, which allows customers to visualise and tailor their cars to their exact preferences.

The customisation process can be guided along by the brand consultants to ensure that every detail, from the colour to the interior trim, is precisely to the customer’s specifications.

The opening of the new BMW Eurokars Flagship Centre and Mini Habitat caps off a period of major transformation for the Eurokars Group over the last two years, and is intended to solidify the company’s dedication towards elevating customer experiences across the three BMW Group brands: BMW, Rolls-Royce and Mini.

The revamped showrooms also align with the BMW Group’s direction of creating a personalised, immersive and seamless experiential customer buying journey.

  • This Swedish Supermarket Has A Mini Farm Inside It! Take A Look At What Is Grown There

This Swedish Supermarket Has A Mini Farm Inside It! Take A Look At What Is Grown There

Have you ever wondered how fresh the produce you buy at a supermarket is? At certain stores in Sweden and Germany, you can get some of the freshest veggies ever – because they are grown inside the supermarket itself. Yes, you read that right! A recent reel showcasing this unique feature went viral on Instagram and has received a lot of interest from users. In the video by Ben Brown and Ciara Doyle (@goingreenmedia), the digital creators give us a glimpse of one such farm inside a Swedish supermarket.

The caption of the post states, “This solution requires zero food miles, uses 99% less water, and the veggies are able to retain the highest nutritional content.” The video also revealed that it takes just a few weeks for the veggies to be ready for consumption after the seeds are planted. These unique farms are by Swegreen, and the digital creators explain that they can be customised according to the size of the supermarket. The digital creators clarify that “this model can’t grow everything, and we don’t want it to replace small independent farms. This is just a great solution for crops that have a short shelf-life like lettuce, herbs, and greens.” Watch the complete video below:

The video has received 2 million views so far. In the comments, people had a lot to say about this unique concept. While some applauded the idea, others were not convinced and expressed a preference for “natural” methods. Several users were worried about the lack of sunlight, to which the vloggers replied, “This is probably 5% of the diversity of vegetables people will eat. It could never replace the majority of crops, which as we agree need sunlight and air”. Take a look at some of the other reactions below:

“This is absolutely amazing. While not a full answer for issues in our food industry, a huge step in the right direction!! More of this and it’ll lead the path to even better solutions in our food industry!!”

“Makes sense for Sweden because of the cold winters a few months. Lettuce would need to travel quite a distance. I’ve eaten hydrophobic tomatoes grown in a farm store in Canada. They do taste different, watery.”

    “This is outstanding! Tremendous work.”

“That’s actually so smart. Because food immediately starts losing nutritional value once it’s harvested too, so having it harvested in store is awesome.”

“This isn’t meant to replace traditional farming! However it’s a step in the right direction especially in food deserts, areas where global warming has hurt crop sustainability, & hopefully will become lower cost so that lower-income areas have this as an alternative to preservative foods. I love this type of work!”
