How To Make Maharashtrian Palakchi Bhaji | Palakchi Bhaji Recipe
Making this Maharashtrian delight at home is straightforward. The recipe shared by digital content creator @food.and.frolic makes it even easier. Here’s how you can prepare it:
1. Prepare Curry Base
Take half a cup of dahi and mix it with two tablespoons of besan. Add water and stir to create a slurry. Set it aside.
2. Prepare Palak
Heat some oil in a kadhai. Once heated, add mustard seeds, chopped garlic, cumin seeds, and hing. Sauté for a few seconds before adding turmeric and red chilli powder. Add fresh palak and stir well to combine. Cover the pan and cook for 15-20 minutes.
3. Combine Ingredients
Once the palak is cooked and reduced in size, add the dahi and besan mixture along with some water. Stir in salt and mix everything together. Simmer until the dish thickens.
4. Prepare Tempering and Combine
For the tadka, heat oil and add chopped garlic, Kashmiri red chillies, and red chilli powder. You can also add jeera for extra flavour. Once it splutters, pour the tempering over the palak sabji in the pan. Mix well and serve hot!

Charlton Athletic must take action amid rumours linking Lloyd Jones with a move to league-leaders Wycombe Wanderers.
The Chairboys, who are currently top of the table in League One, have reportedly made the defender a target ahead of the upcoming January transfer window, according to journalist Alan Nixon via his Patreon.
Wycombe were previously linked with a move for the 29-year-old in the summer of 2023, prior to his move to The Valley on a free transfer from Cambridge United, so it should perhaps not come as a huge surprise that they have renewed their interest in the centre-back.
Jones has been a standout player for Charlton this season, and with less than a year remaining on his contract, the Addicks must take immediate action to ensure that they do not lose one of their most important players.
Charlton must offer Jones a new contract
After recently being ruled out of six league games through injury, Jones reminded Charlton supporters what they had been missing with an assured performance in the middle of a back three during the Addicks’ 0-0 draw away at Lincoln City on Saturday.

The powerful defender has made more blocks and interceptions than any other Charlton player in League One so far this term, while the rating system on FotMob suggests that he has been the Addicks’ best player when fit.
Jones, who is vice-captain at The Valley, has played in five of the six victories that Nathan Jones’ side have picked up in League One this season. Each of the Addicks’ league wins have been accompanied by a clean sheet, showing the importance of their defenders when things go to plan.
Therefore, Charlton’s next step must be to offer the defender a new contract to keep him at The Valley for the foreseeable future.
However, it is clear to see why Matt Bloomfield would like to bring Jones to Wycombe, as they look to keep up their momentum at the top of the table.
The Chairboys have conceded the most goals out of the top five teams in the third tier, with their success having primarily been built on an outstanding attacking record, so signing a player like Jones could be just what they need if they are going to maintain their promotion push for the remainder of the season.
It may be a tough decision for Jones if Wycombe make an offer
It could prove to be a difficult decision for Jones if both Charlton offer him a new deal and Wycombe make an approach to sign him in January.
Earlier this season, he implied that he would be keen on agreeing fresh terms in SE7 during an interview via London News Online.
“I’ve got to keep putting in performances – that is my main focus,” he stated.
“Hopefully if I keep putting in good performances and focus on my football then a new contract will be here. I’ll have to wait and see.
“Football changes so quickly but Charlton is a big club with a great fan base, a great stadium and a top manager. Everything seems to be falling in place.”
It is very true that football changes quickly, and with those quotes having been made in October, it will be interesting to see whether Jones feels the same way now that Charlton are languishing in mid-table.
Jones, who once appeared on the bench in the Premier League for Liverpool in 2013, has only ever made four appearances at a level higher than League One, with all of those coming in the Championship during his time at Luton Town.
At this stage of his career, he may see a move to Wycombe as a good opportunity to return to the second tier as soon as possible, with the Chairboys’ chances of promotion being far better than Charlton’s as things stand.
Charlton will be reluctant to accept any offers for Jones, but if Wycombe come in for him in January, the Addicks will have a tough decision to make on whether to sell him and weaken their starting lineup, or reject the bid and risk losing him for free at the end of the season.
For now, it is clear that the Addicks’ next move must be to make Lloyd Jones a contract offer that could convince him to stay at the club, but if he does not sign it, then it will be very interesting to see what happens.

Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is backing a bill designed to protect reproductive health data including data logged on menstrual cycle tracking apps. Similar legislation that has passed in other states is aimed at keeping the data from being used to target people seeking abortions.
“This feels like a very urgent need for us to get this done while we have a window in Michigan with the Democratic majority for the next few weeks,” said state Sen. Mallory McMorrow, sponsor of the digital privacy bill.
The rush is a reaction to expectations that it will be harder to pass the reproductive health care policies Democrats favor after Republicans take control of the state House in January. Democrats kept control of the state Senate in the November election.
Republicans have opposed the digital privacy bill over a section they say will stifle anti-abortion advertising.
Other reproductive health bills to be considered during the December session that began Tuesday include a package on Black maternal health and an expansion of access to birth control.
After the overturn of Roe v. Wade, some women in states with strict abortion bans began to worry that their health information could be used to track their reproductive status. Apps that track menstrual cycles became a major focus point.
Period tracking apps allow women to take detailed day-by-day notes about their health, from how heavy their period flow is to additional symptoms such as cramping. They can log pregnancies and miscarriages.
“These tools are really valuable,” McMorrow said. “I just want to make sure that the guardrails are there when indications from the incoming federal administration is they would potentially weaponize the data in a way that is very dangerous.”
Federal law bars medical providers from sharing health data without a patient’s consent but doesn’t prevent digital tech companies from tracking menstrual cycles or an individual’s location and selling it to data brokers. Legislation for federal bans have never gained momentum, largely because of opposition from the tech industry.
How the legislation works varies from state to state. Washington state has digital privacy law that broadly covers all health-related data while Virginia has a law that explicitly prohibits the issuance of search warrants, subpoenas or court orders for electronic or digital menstrual health data.
Michigan’s proposal would require businesses or organizations to use reproductive health data only for the services it provides, and consumers must be informed of how the data is being used. In order to sell that data, an entity would need explicit, signed consent from the consumer. Consumers would also have the option to opt out from their data being sold at any time.
It would also regulate retailers, who often compile data to target consumers with advertisements, and the use of geofencing, which allows marketers to target consumers with ads based on their location.
The bill would prohibit identifying who is receiving reproductive health care by using location information and targeting them with advertisements. This would apply to people visiting fertility or abortion clinics.
The geofencing provision of the bill has drawn objection from anti-abortion advocates. Genevieve Marnon, legislative director for Right to Life of Michigan, said in committee testimony Tuesday that the bill would prevent women visiting an abortion clinic from being reached by anti-abortion ads.
“This isn’t safeguarding women’s reproductive health data,” she said. “It is limiting the options presented to women.”
Republican Sen. John Damoose, who voted against the bill in committee, believes the geofencing provision encroaches on freedom of speech and religion by preventing anti-abortion advertising.
The bill was voted out of committee Tuesday on party lines and advanced Thursday toward a final vote in the Senate chamber.
Kimya Forouzan, principal state policy director at the Guttmacher Institute, expects the topic to be taken up by other state legislatures next year. Guttmacher, which supports abortion rights, tracks reproductive health trends.
Over the past two years, Michigan Democrats have passed bills repealing a number of anti-abortion laws, including the state’s 1931 ban, and adding surrogacy protections to state law. Lawmakers are considering a number of others related to reproductive health this month.
A group of bills focused on improving maternal health for Black women would create a doula scholarship, among other measures. The Senate voted its package on the topic through to the House on Tuesday.
Rep. Jaime Churches, a Democrat from the downriver area of Detroit who lost her seat in November, is trying to gain traction for two bills that would require insurance to cover fertility treatments, including in vitro fertilization and intrauterine insemination.
Three bills seeking to expand access to birth control through insurance have passed the state House. McMorrow also introduced a series of bills aimed at providing long-lasting reversible contraception, such an implants or intrauterine devices, to patients who have given birth before they are discharged from a hospital.
There is competition among Democrats for time during this short, lame duck session. Advocates for economic development, infrastructure and gun control measures are among the many looking to push through bills in the month that is left. Major contention over new paid sick leave and minimum wage requirements is likely to garner attention. Those discussions could reduce the amount of time available to debate reproductive health measures.

For the second straight day, Drake has taken legal action against Universal Music Group, this time in Texas, over Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us.”
It follows a similar filing in New York on Monday, in which Drake alleges UMG falsely pumped up the popularity of “Not Like Us” on Spotify and other streaming services.
The two court moves have taken the bitter beef between the two hip-hop superstars to a whole new level, with the parent company of the labels for both men now pulled directly into the fight.
Tuesday’s filing in Bexar County alleges UMG engaged in “irregular and inappropriate business practices” to get radio airplay for “Not Like Us,” including making illegal payments to San Antonio-based iHeartMedia. The petition, a precursor to a potential lawsuit, seeks depositions from corporate representatives of both companies.
The filing takes aim at UMG for allegedly knowing that “the song itself, as well as its accompanying album art and music video, attacked the character of another one of UMG’s most prominent artists, Drake, by falsely accusing him of being a sex offender, engaging in pedophilic acts, harboring sex offenders, and committing other criminal sexual acts.”
The filing points out that “the song calls Drake a ‘certified pedophile,’ a ‘predator,’ and someone whose name should ‘be registered and placed on neighborhood watch.’”
The petition says Drake could sue UMG for defamation, among other claims.
A UMG representative did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment on the new filing. In a Monday statement in response to the New York filing, the company said the “suggestion that UMG would do anything to undermine any of its artists is offensive and untrue. We employ the highest ethical practices in our marketing and promotional campaigns.”
An email to an iHeartMedia representative seeking comment was also not immediately answered.
The New York petition is also a precursor to a potential lawsuit, and alleges UMG fired employees seen as loyal to Drake “in an apparent effort to conceal its schemes.”
The back-to-back legal maneuvers represent a major and possibly unprecedented escalation of a hip-hop feud, especially with the label representing two of the biggest stars in music sitting at the center of it.
Drake, a 38-year-old Canadian rapper and singer and five-time Grammy winner, and Lamar, a 37-year-old Pulitzer Prize winner who is set to headline the next Super Bowl halftime, were occasional collaborators more than a decade ago.
That changed when Lamar began taking public jabs at Drake starting in 2013. The fight escalated steeply earlier this year.
“Not Like Us,” the wildly popular Lamar single released in May, was an especially vicious moment in a flurry of dueling tracks from the two artists.
Jeremiah Peterson isn’t surprised at his outstanding season playing a leading role for Montini.
But Peterson, who had 120 tackles and an interception return for a touchdown in his junior season, is surprised at one aspect – his position.
After playing middle linebacker for the Broncos last season, Peterson is the lead tailback heading into Saturday’s 1 p.m. Class 3A state semifinal home game against No. 2 seed Wilmington (12-0). The ninth-seeded Broncos (10-2) suffered several injuries at running back, causing the coaching staff to ask Peterson to become the team’s starting running back.
Thus far, after taking over the starting spot, Peterson is ripping off long runs to help give the Broncos a dynamic running and passing attack.
“Defense was always my thing,” Peterson said. “I always had a love for running back. I played running back and linebacker when I was little. If you told me last year that I would hardly play defense this year, I would’ve been like, ‘what are you talking about.’ But it’s been very fun playing running back.”
Montini coach Mike Bukovsky said Peterson is one of the unsung players for his program this season.
“We had to shift Jeremiah’s role,” Bukovsky said. “We had some early injuries and then had another player who missed part of the season. Jeremiah took the reins of our offense and really quietly put together a really good year in the last six or seven games. He’s been a big spark in our offense. He only had a few carries last year and played a lot on defense, but when we needed him to step to the other side of the ball, he’s been a pleasant surprise with his production this year.
“His stats are not gaudy because we spread the ball around. I think he’s really been a good storyline for us. He’s a very talented young man and a good athlete.”
At 5-foot-11 and 225 pounds, Peterson is a load for defenses to stop. Peterson torched defending 3A state champion Bryon to the tune of 117 yards rushing and two touchdowns in the second round of the playoffs. Peterson shredded Princeton for 100 yards and scored a late touchdown to seal last week’s win.
“The plan was for me to still play defense this year,” Peterson said. “We had three guys go down with injuries. The last time playing running back was my freshman year on the frosh/sophomore team. I played a lot of running back that year, but by playing linebacker, when I’m at running back, I’m able to more naturally read the linebackers and get to the right hole. I’m very thankful for my team allowing me to play running back.”
After opening the season with a 2-2 record, the Broncos have reeled off eight straight victories to earn a return date to the state semifinals. A year ago, the Broncos dropped a 26-20 decision to eventual 3A state champion Byron in the semifinals.
Bukovsky said the 28-player senior class helped lead the rest of the team back to the semifinals.
“It’s been a great year so far,” Butovsky said. “I’m very proud of this group of young men and our coaches who have all done an awesome job. It’s great to be back in this same place a year later with the opportunity to win a home semifinal game to get to the state championship game. The road this year was pretty tough.”
Bukovsky said the Broncos’ tough schedule, along with their experience from last season and veteran-laden squad, led to the streak of victories.
“We’re thrilled to be here, but we’re certainly not satisfied,” Bukovsky said. “Wilmington is a very good program. I’ve known those coaches a long way back, to the 1996 playoffs when we played them and I was the defensive coordinator. We know the type of kids and coaches they have. We will have to play our best. Our defense has been very consistent and a couple of games away from the conversations of one of our better defenses. We can’t wait to play at home. Our fans have been fantastic. We want to ride this moment.”

York answers all the doubts
At the start of the season, York had a number of question marks regarding its program.
A new coach was the main concern. No longer was the builder of the program, Mike Fitzgerald, patrolling the sidelines.
Also, the Dukes had to find a new quarterback.
And the offensive line was a slight concern due to an influx of new faces.
Twelve games into the season, the Dukes (10-2) have answered all the doubts about their program with their third straight run to the Class 8A semifinals. The No. 14-seeded Dukes travel to No. 7 seed Naperville Central (11-1) for Saturday’s 6 p.m. state semifinal.
“No matter which way you slice it, three years in a row in the Class 8A semifinals is not easy,” York first-year coach Don Gelsomino said. “That’s a tall task for anybody. We’ve come a long way, as a team and a program. This group, as freshmen, started at York when we had not been to the playoffs in a decade.
“We’ve now been in the semifinals three years in a row. Now that our program is there, we have to live up to these expectations. It’s not pressure. We’ve already put in all of the hard work to get into the playoffs, so let’s go out and have some fun.”
York right guard Costa Kampas, who will also slide over to right tackle, is one of the stabilizing players on the offensive line. After playing a reserve role last season, Kampas grew two inches and added 30 pounds to sprout to 6-foot-5 and 275 pounds. His size forms a fearsome combination with Notre Dame recruit Joe Reiff at right tackle.
“We understood it was win or go home and not to take plays off,” Kampas said. “All five guys have worked hard throughout the season and summer to be at this point. We’ve clicked as an offense and we want to keep paving the way. I think the biggest thing in the playoffs is everyone is playing with a chip on their shoulders. We’re a two-loss team and had a tough first-round (game). We overcame all the doubt a lot of people had about his program and flipped it.”
In their three playoff games, the Dukes have racked up big yards on the ground to the tune of 239, 395 and 347 yards.
”We had basically a whole new line other than Joe,” Gelsomino said. “We were trying to find the right combinations. Costa has really grown into his role. We have a kid who can really start any position comfortably for us. We have some flexibility. His growth in the system and making blocks has been key. He’s a big kid who works really hard and it helps tremendously when you have an offensive lineman like that.”

Nazareth (10-2) is two wins away from a three-peat state championship. The Roadrunners host St. Francis (10-2) on Saturday. The Spartans defeated the Roadrunners in a thrilling 39-36 regular season game on Oct. 25.

“They have always spoken about how there is a pathway [from under-21s to first team], even when Gareth Southgate was in charge. We know the door is open if we take our chances. So, as Martin prepares his side for their important winter run of games, the club have their eyes on a player who they could look to sign in January.
Southampton eye move for £16m+ gem with same agent as Armstrong
According to Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, Southampton are interested in signing Hertha Berlin’s Ibrahim Maza. The Algerian international has been with the German side from an early age but has only just recently broken into the first-team set-up.
The 18-year-old has performed very well for Hertha Berlin in Bundesliga 2 this season, as he’s got three goals and two assists to his name in 12 games. Maza is more known for being an attacking midfielder, but he also has the ability to play as a winger, as well as a striker if needed.
Plettenberg reports that Maza is being scouted by a number of Premier League clubs, with Southampton making regular checks on him, as well as Wolverhampton Wanderers. But they are not the only teams interested from England, as Fulham, Leicester City, Newcastle United, and West Ham are also keeping a close eye on the midfielder.
Hertha Berlin want Maza to be part of their promotion push this season, so a move in January could be difficult for the Saints to complete. However, should they fail to be promoted, Maza will likely leave the German side and would be available for a fee of £8-16.7 million. It will obviously depend on where Southampton are playing their football next season, but they could have an advantage in the race, as Maza has the same agent, CAA Stellar, as current Saints striker Armstrong.
Ruben Amorim says Manchester United must wait before signing any Sporting players
Ruben Amorim insists Manchester United will not sign any Sporting CP players in the January transfer window but admits he would welcome the chance to bring Pedro Goncalves to Old Trafford.
But Amorim is adamant that United will need to wait until next summer before attempting to sign any Sporting players.
‘I won’t in January, that’s what I said. I don’t know about the summer,’ Amorim said on Saturday.
‘The first point – to hold on until the summer. Sporting’s players are very good players. I don’t know. We’ll see.’

Goncalves, meanwhile, has been a key player in Amorim’s system at Sporting and has played an integral role in both seasons where the team won the Portuguese league.
When asked specifically about a potential move for Goncalves after he becomes United manager, Amorim said: ‘He can play in any team in the world and with any player, because he is a great player.
‘I could take him anywhere. He is very funny, which improves the personal relationship.
‘But he is also very intelligent, but he also has to focus on Sporting because we have to be champions this year. But he could play in any team in the world.’
Amorim was also asked about preparing for his first press conference in England once he makes the move to United next week.
‘I’m ready, of course I’ll have to think a lot about the words,’ Amorim said.
‘This conference I had there will be much more basic. But I’ll have to be very intelligent. Manchester United is always the club that people talk about the most there. But I’m not worried either. English won’t be my biggest problem.’

Ruben Amorim has dropped a huge hint as to whether Man United will pursue Viktor Gyokeres after the striker put in another stunning performance for Sporting Lisbon.
The Swede continued his stunning form under Amorim as the Sporting head coach oversaw a 4-1 win over Man City in his final home match ahead of his move to Man United.
Phil Foden had given Man City the lead in the fourth minute, before Gyokeres replied with three goals – two from the penalty spot – to help inspire Sporting’s shock win.
There’s been plenty of discussion surrounding the former Brighton and Coventry striker amid his fine goalscoring form and some have suggested Amorim may look to bring him to Old Trafford.
Now, the Portuguese boss has broken his silence on the matter and revealed when he expects Gyokeres to leave Sporting.

Speaking after the match, according to A Bola, Amorim said: ‘If I start joking about this Gyokeres situation I’ll get in trouble.
‘This is my city, this is my country, so I’ll respect it. Viktor has to stay until the end of the season and then his life will probably go somewhere else’.
Though a January move for the Sweden international appears to be off the table, Amorim appeared to hint that he could launch a summer move for Gyokeres.
Earlier in the night, United legend Rio Ferdinand tipped Gyokeres to follow Amorim to United after his stunning hat-trick against the Red Devils’ local rivals.
‘The recruitment teams in all the clubs in the Premier League must be scratching their heads about how they let him get away,’ Ferdinand said.
‘He hasn’t had a conventional route, his route to the top hasn’t been straightforward.
‘He was at Brighton as a kid, sold to Coventry, went on loan to Swansea, goes back to Coventry and does well, then goes to Sporting Lisbon.

‘He has had a journey where he has had to build himself and create what he is now.
‘You think ‘How has he been allowed to get out?’, all of a sudden when are seeing what he has got, maybe he has grown into what he is, the confidence, stature he has, the physicality, he might have had to wait for that to come.
‘A few times today he blew away from players, holding people off.’
The hat-trick took Gyokeres’ tally for the season to 23 goals in 17 matches this season, with his overall tally at Sporting now standing at 63 in 66 games.

Arsenal sporting director Edu is to leave in a huge blow for the Gunners, set to join Evangelos Marinakis’ group of clubs which includes Nottingham Forest.
The Brazilian rejoined the club he used to play for from 2001-05 in 2019 as technical director and stepped up to sporting director in November 2022.
The Daily Mail report that talks have been held between Edu and the Arsenal hierarchy but the Brazilian has decided to move on.
The Independent have since reported that he is making a surprise move to link up with the Marinakis network of Forest, Oympiacos and Rio Ave.
The unexpected move is reportedly driven by Edu wanting to become CEO at Arsenal and being offered that position at the Marinakis-owned group.
Edu was alongside Mikel Arteta in September as the Spaniard signed a new contract with the club and spoke about the long-term future under the manager.

‘We are really happy that Mikel has signed a new long-term contract,’ said the Brazilian.
‘It’s a very positive and proud moment for everyone at the club and an important part of what we’re all working towards.

Edu spoke over the summer with Men In Blazers about his strategy and how he has had to make ‘unpopular decisions’ to achieve success.
‘When you live in the football world, sometimes you have to make decisions simple and sometimes you have to make decisions even if it is not popular,’ he said.

‘You have to be very strong on your ideas, what you believe, what is good for the club, what is good for the future of the club.
‘For me, there are some elements in football which I will always give a lot of attention. When I joined, I looked at the squad balance, the positions, the age of the group. There are three elements that you have to be really aware of.
‘First of all, we have to see the age of the player. Then you have to see the salary of the player. And third you have to see the performance of the player.
‘If you have a player over 26 or 27 years, you need attention. If his salary is high, you need attention. And if he is not performing, you are dead.
‘Let’s come back… If you have a player, 27 years old or 28, on a big salary, but he is performing, you can accept it. What you cannot accept is if you have those three elements and the player is over 28.
‘You start to become uncomfortable and it is better for you to move them on – because maybe this player is blocking someone younger, an asset who could help you.

‘When I came to Arsenal, I saw all the squad, with respect, almost everyone was over 26, 27, on big salaries and not performing. If you have those three elements, which club in the world wants to come here and buy one of our players? No-one.
‘So how do you deal with that situation? You have to be strong and sometimes you have to make decisions. You can go strong and try to let those players go or your project is going to take, instead of three or four years, maybe seven, eight or nine.
‘Then unpopular decisions started to come. Because most of the players that have those elements, they have a fanbase and a media that love them. But for the club it is not healthy sometimes to keep the player in that situation.
‘When I started I saw every single player in the squad with those three characteristics. Then I said: “Guys, we have to clean this squad, with all my respect, to build a new foundation here. From that foundation, we need to sign younger players, on lower salaries, with better futures, who are hungry to take us where we want to go.’
