Diwali Detox 2024: The Ultimate 10-Day Reboot And Detox Diet Plan Before Diwali

With the biggest festival of the year just around the corner, we all want to look and feel our best. However, after two weeks of indulgence and broken weight-loss promises, how do we achieve this? You’ve likely come across various dos and don’ts for a healthy lifestyle, which can lead to a glowing you, both inside and out. So, let’s embark on a 10-day journey to help you look and feel amazing this festive season with a detox and reboot plan tailored to most of us.
A detox diet typically involves a routine designed to reset your system to how it was before the binge period. The goal here is to flush out all the toxins accumulated recently, helping you feel fresh and invigorated. After all, you not only want to look your best during the bustling holiday season, but you also want to feel energetic as you move from one party to another.

With this in mind, here is a 10-day customized detox plan to help you feel refreshed before Diwali 2024, which will be celebrated on October 31, 2024.

Diwali Detox 2024: 3 Steps To Reboot And Detox Plan Before Diwali

Step 1 – Clean Out The Kitchen

For the next 10 days, it’s time to say goodbye to all those convenience foods and say hello to fresh eats made from real ingredients. That means all those ready-to-eat and ready-to-cook meals are out! You’re also ditching sugar and table salt-yep, they’re going bye-bye, too. Refined cereals, like white flour, are on the no-go list, so keep those away! No white rice or breads, and pasta made from white flour? Forget about it! Processed foods are a no-show, so no jams, bakery goodies like biscuits, cakes, mathri, margarine, or even peanut butter! And don’t even think about reaching for beverages like coffee, tea, alcohol, flavoured drinks, or soft drinks. Time to clear the fridge and get fresh!

Diwali 2020: Over the next 10 days, eat only fresh food made with fresh ingredients.

Step 2 – Get In The Mood

Sprouted whole grains, sprouted moong and legumes are easily done. All fresh vegetables, including potatoes and fruits, will be part of our diet. Stock up on almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds, chia seeds, sesame and flax seeds. Also get used to consuming healthier whole grains like barley, oats, buckwheat, brown rice and other millets. Dried Fruits are also allowed. Sea salt or sendha namak will be a good change as will honey and gur for salt and sugar respectively. Tofu, soy milk, goat cheese and fresh cheese to replace normal paneer and cheese. If you can replace regular dairy milk with fresh milk from an organic farm it would be amazing. Tea and coffee would be replaced by herbal teas/ green tea without milk and sugar.

    Step 3 – Let’s Do This!

I have divided the plan into two weeks. Week 1 is strict, and I encourage you to adhere to it as closely as possible. This week is more challenging but will maximize the benefits of the detox plan. During Week 2, you can gradually reintroduce some of your favourite foods into your diet.
Additionally, I’ve included a 2-day eating plan to help you ease into the 2-week diet. The goal is to avoid shocking your system and to increase your chances of successfully completing the plan. Let’s get started!

    Day 1 Eating Plan

Only fruits. Let the body rest and get started on this 10-day detox. Flavour your fruits with sendha namak, roasted and ground cumin and lemon juice for a chaat. Eat as much as you wish.

    Day 2 Eating Plan

Start the day with a medium-boiled potato and a tablespoon of butter. Spend the day eating only vegetables cooked with less oil and lots of fresh spices like ginger, garlic and tomatoes. Fresh vegetable juices or soups can also be a meal, just make sure you blend and not sieve.
Now, that we have had a break from normal, let’s eat food for the next two weeks.

The Ultimate Detox Plan For Diwali 20204 | 10-Day Healthy Detox To Help You Sparkle

    Week 1: Diwali Detox 2020

Each day you will eat three meals at the same time daily and one snack. The last meal will be over by 9 pm. Each day you will consume 35ml/kg body weight of water. So, if you are 50 kg then you will drink 50*35= 1.750 ml of water or you can round it off to 2 litres. This will be ideally at room temperature and an in-between meal companion. Portion sizes must be kept to moderate. Use minimum amounts of cooking oil. You can use pure ghee and butter too, but avoid the low-fat versions of butter available in the markets.

How to Start Your Day On The Detox | Early Morning Drink For Detox

You will have to stay away from boiled tea and coffee for these 10 days. It may be tough in the beginning but it would really give your body the head start it needs for the rest of the day. There are many options for you here, pick any – start your day with a green tea, any herbal infusion of your choice, fresh lemon water, kacchi haldi water (soaked overnight), tulsi water (2-minute boil), zeera water (soaked overnight) or methi dana water (soaked overnight).

Week 1 Breakfast on the Diwali Detox | Breakfast Diet Plan for Diwali 2024

You must eat within 2 hours of getting up. Here are some healthy breakfast options:

    1. Fresh Old-Fashioned Oats: Cook about 30 grams of oats with soy milk or organic milk, then top with fresh fruits and walnuts. This breakfast is rich in fibre, antioxidants from the fruits, calcium, and protein from the milk.

    2. Nut and Seed Mix with Fruit and Rye Bread: Mix 45 grams of almonds, seeds, and walnuts with an apple and one slice of 70% rye bread. You can soak the nuts and seeds, make a paste in the morning, and use it as a spread on toast or on the apple. This breakfast provides healthy fats along with proteins, polyphenols, pectin, and fibre.

    3. Fruit Smoothie with Homemade Yogurt (Dahi): A medium-sized glass of this smoothie can be quite filling. Avoid adding sugar; instead, use a small amount of honey for sweetness. This option is rich in probiotics, fibre, protein, and calcium.

    4. Ragi Idli with Coconut Chutney: Enjoy two medium-sized ragi idlis with coconut chutney. This gluten-free option is packed with fibre and folates and is easy to digest.

    5. Buckwheat Cheela with Mint Chutney: This dish provides fibre, iron and beta carotene, and is also rich in Vitamin C.

    6. Moong Sprouts with Pomegranate: Delight in this protein and antioxidant-rich breakfast that also includes prebiotics and probiotics.

These options are not only nutritious but also delicious!

Week 1 Lunch on the Diwali Detox | Lunch Diet Plan For Diwali 2024

Lunch is when our digestion is at its best. The way forward here is to get in as much colour as possible while getting adequate proteins and other nutrients too.

    1. Quinoa Salad: About 30 gm salad with rocket leaves and cherry tomato and some chhaas to drink along. Use an olive oil and vinegar/lemon dressing.
    2. Brown rice and rajma with kachumber salad: Very Indian and extremely nourishing. Cook with minimum oil and use lots of tomatoes. Don’t forget the green chillies in your salad.
    3. Ghiya raita with grilled potato and peanut tikka: Light and easy to eat, you could also do a ghiya, aloo and roasted peanut raita.
    4. Kuttu/Singhara roti with soy paneer and mint chutney rolls: Nothing like rolls to make the taste buds dance. Lots of fibre, vitamin C, Iron and of course protein and calcium.
    5. Bell pepper salad: Mix a few yellow and red bell peppers with steamed corn, fresh mozzarella and feta cheese to create a vibrant salad. Dress this up with apple cider vinegar (ACV). How wonderfully colourful and therefore rich in antioxidant polyphenols!
    6. Buckwheat pasta: Saute vegetables with buckwheat pasta and goat cheese. The Italian job that is healthy to boot!
    7. Chickpeas with oats atta roti and cucumber salad: Good old undervalued chana, a treasure trove of phosphorus, heart-healthy fibre and proteins.

Week 1 Dinner on the Diwali Detox | Dinner Diet Plan For Diwali 2024

Dinner should be your lightest meal and as early as possible.

    1. Wholemeal soup with fresh vegetables and lentils: Add your favourite veggies and create a wholesome, hearty meal in a bowl. Do not use store-bought stock cubes to make the soup.
    2. Dahi chawal with a twist: Dahi and brown rice with a curry patta and rai tadka
    3. Stir fry veggies with Tofu
    4. Barley pearls upma with green peas, grilled tomato with herbs and cheese
    5. Baked potato jackets stuffed with mozzarella cheese and spinach
    6. Paneer tikka with lots of grilled vegetables

It’s important to practice portion control during dinner as well. You might feel tempted to eat a little extra, but a few days of being strict with yourself will be beneficial. Not only will the urge to overeat at night gradually diminish, but you’ll also feel more refreshed the next morning.
On day 8, I recommend fasting for the day. Stick to fresh juices, diluted lassi, and coconut water. However, if you find yourself very hungry by dinner time, you can choose one of the dinner options from Week 1 and eat it in moderation—ideally at least 2-3 hours before bedtime.

Week 2 Eating Plan For Diwali Detox

This week, you will continue to follow all the rules but start incorporating vegetables and proteins of your choice.
Non-vegetarians can substitute the protein with eggs, chicken breast, or fish. You can now switch from soy milk to regular skimmed milk, and if you prefer, you can use regular paneer instead of soy paneer or tofu.
If you feel like a snack at 5 PM, consider one of these options, but ensure that you limit yourself to 20-30 grams. You’ve worked hard all of last week, so don’t give up now!

Diwali 2024: Follow all the rules but start introducing vegetables and proteins of your choice.

    Snack at 5 pm:

    • Nuts and seeds
    • Fruits
    • Bhuna chana
    • Murmura
    • Fat-free fresh popcorn
    • A piece of cheese on a whole-grain cracker
    • Half an apple with 15g of mozzarella

    Important Tips During The Detox:

    • Exercise daily. Work out a 20-30 minute regimen with pranayama, gentle stretching exercises and a warm-up routine. For those of you who do not exercise this will be a good way to start. Those of you who exercise long hours, or tough sessions, could enjoy the gentler routine of stretching and breathing.

    • 6 to 7 hours of sleep is another cog in your cycle of rejuvenation, so pack up the tablets, and computers and switch off your phones. Early to bed and early to rise is your goal these 10 days. Get a lot of me time, go for a massage, get a manicure/pedicure, get pampered.

    • With a regularized regimen, you will first see the change in your skin, which will look and feel healthy. The hair, with all the nourishment from seeds, vegetables, fruits and fresh ingredients will spring back to life.

    • Another thing you need to do is feel what is happening to your body, make a conscious connection and listen to your body’s rhythm. This is just a start, with consistency you can convert this to a healthy lifestyle which is the best SIP for life.

    Happy Diwali 2024, Everyone!

  • FA launches four-year plan to ‘transform the landscape’ of grassroots football | The FA

The Football Association has launched a new four-year strategy which aims to “transform the landscape” of the grassroots level. The ambition of the latest plan is to get a further 220,000 people playing across England by forming an additional 15,000 teams.

Entitled “A Thriving Grassroots Game”, the strategy has a number of key pillars, with the aim of building on the work of the previous action plan and succeeding where it failed. There are five areas of focus for this approach as the FA look to take action to improve behaviour and increase the number of coaches and volunteers at amateur level, and retain those already in the system.

The previous four-year plan fell short in a number of areas over a four-year period, unable to reach its target of having 90% of schools offering equal opportunities to boys and girls in extracurricular football. There will be a strong focus on widening the scope to allow women and girls to participate as currently female teams account for 12% of those playing regularly.

Further investment will be made into facilities, with two out of every three grass pitches being deemed “poor” quality. There is a need for a further 2,000 artificial 3G pitches to be laid to help cope with demand as 96% of local authorities have an insufficient number available for people to play.

It is also feared that poor behaviour and discrimination puts people off participating in the game, so the FA has designed easier ways to report incidents to tackle the problem in addition to being “tougher with punishments, rewarding good behaviour and driving collective responsibility to change things for the better”.

The FA outlined plans to support already successful clubs to help them sustainably grow, connect with more participants via a more effective digital offering and increase diversity at board level to ensure it greater reflects those playing the game.

“Over the next four years we will transform the landscape of our grassroots game by investing in more new quality grass pitches to reach our 12,000 target, alongside over 300 new artificial pitches,” the FA chief executive, Mark Bullingham, said.

“Through our new grassroots strategy, we want to inspire positive change through football by driving equal opportunities for women and girls, improving facilities across the county, tackling unacceptable behaviour and supporting our volunteers, coaches and referees. We have set clear and ambitious targets to focus on the biggest opportunities and challenges.”

An Ideal Karwa Chauth 2024 Sargi Meal Plan:

Here’s a Sargi meal plan suggested by dietitian Anushi Jain that incorporates a variety of nutritious foods:

    1. Hydration (4:00-4:15 AM):

    • Coconut Water or Lukewarm Lemon Water: Coconut water and lukewarm lemon water are excellent options for hydration and electrolyte replenishment.
    • Soaked Almonds and Walnuts: These nuts are rich in healthy fats, protein, and fibre, providing a sustained energy boost.

    2. Fruit (4:15-4:25 AM):

Watermelon, Pomegranate, or Orange: These fruits are high in water content and provide essential vitamins and minerals. Avoid bananas as they can lead to thirst.

    3. Main Meal (4:25-4:45 AM):

    • Multigrain Paratha or Stuffed Paneer Paratha with Ghee: These options provide complex carbohydrates and protein, ensuring sustained energy levels.
    • Plain Curd or Lassi: Dairy products can help cool the body and provide hydration.
    • Dalia (Broken Wheat Porridge) or Oats with Milk and Nuts: For a lighter option, opt for a porridge made with whole grains.

    • Sip water between bites: Stay hydrated throughout your meal.
    • End your meal 30 minutes before sunrise: This allows for better digestion.

    Additional Considerations:
While the above meal plan is a good starting point, you can customize it based on your personal preferences and dietary restrictions. It’s essential to listen to your body and choose foods that make you feel energized and satisfied.

Wrexham set to secure pathway to European football as FA chiefs consider radical Prosiect Cymru plan

    • Welsh clubs playing in England may soon have an alternative pathway to Europe
    • Plans would see likes of Wrexham, Cardiff and Swansea in the Welsh League Cup
    • LISTEN NOW: It’s All Kicking Off! , available wherever you get your podcasts. New episodes every Monday and Thursday

Wrexham will soon be crossing swords with some of Europe’s most famous names if football bosses approve a radical plan later this year.

The League One club have become a global sensation thanks to the investment from Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney and Welsh FA chiefs have developed a proposal that would see Wrexham, Swansea, Cardiff and Newport competing in the Welsh League Cup – giving them a far easier route to European competition.

Key FAW (Welsh FA) figures also believe the move would drive investment across Welsh football.

As the clubs are part of the English pyramid, they can qualify for Europe only through the Premier League, FA Cup or EFL Cup. If they entered the Welsh League Cup, they would no longer be able to reach Europe through the ‘English’ route.

Yet Mail Sport understands there is significant interest in the idea in the initiative, named ‘Prosiect Cymru’ (Project Wales).

Prosiect Cymru would see Welsh clubs playing in the English pyramid compete in the Welsh League Cup for a place in the Europa Conference League

UEFA, the Football Association, Premier League and clubs in the Cymru Premier, Wales’ domestic top flight, have seen the proposal and it is due to go before the FA’s Professional Game Board before the end of 2024.

The winner of the Welsh League Cup enters the Europa Conference League, which this season features Chelsea, Panathinaikos and Fiorentina.

Roma won the first edition in 2022, followed by West Ham in 2023 and Olympiacos last year.

Welsh clubs in the EFL have not participated in an FAW competition since the FAW Premier Cup – which did not offer European qualification – was abolished in 2008, but they have a rich history in continental contests.

Cardiff beat Real Madrid in the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1971, Wrexham defeated Porto in the same competition in 1984 and Newport reached a Cup Winners’ Cup quarter-final in 1981, while Swansea won 3-0 in Valencia in a 2013 Europa League match.

Mila Kunis reveals why she and Ashton Kutcher are always plotting an ‘escape plan’

Mila Kunis has opened up about the fears she has for her two children.

The actress, 41, who shares daughter Wyatt Isabelle, 10, and son Dimitri Portwood, seven, with actor Ashton Kutcher, 46, shared her parenting anxieties with Entertainment Tonight this week.

‘I worry about my children all the time,’ she admitted.

‘It’s humanly impossible for me to worry more. If that’s the case I will self-combust,’ she continued.

‘Ashton says that I account for the worst of everything at all times. Like, I account for the escape plan all the time.’

The pair, who starred alongside each other in the sitcom That ’70s Show, began dating in early 2012 after they met on the long-running show.

They were co-stars portraying Michael Kelso and Jackie Burkhart from 1998 to 2006.

Prior to their romance, Kutcher was married to Demi Moore and had just ended six years of marriage. They finalized their divorce in November 2013.

After Kutcher and Kunis reconnected, their friendship quickly turned into a whirlwind romance.

They got engaged in February 2014 and the lovebirds tied the knot the following year in July.

During that time, the couple welcomed their daughter Wyatt in October.

And, after getting married, they had son Dimitri in November 2016.

Previously, Kunis spoke about how their decades-spanning romance stemmed from how they filmed similar movies separately and ‘lived out’ the casual dating lifestyle.

'I worry about my children all the time,' Kunis admitted (pictured with son Dimitri)

‘Ashton says that I account for the worst of everything at all times. Like, I account for the escape plan all the time,’ she said

Kunis’ concerns follow reports of Kutcher’s ‘regret’ over his friendship with Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, following the rapper’s arrest last month.

Combs, 54, is currently awaiting trial at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center in New York City on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution after being arrested earlier this month.

Kutcher had been close friends with Diddy for two decades, with the duo speaking highly of each other over the years and the actor even attending one of his infamous White Parties.

However, in light of Combs’ arrest, insiders claimed Kutcher is terrified that the rap star could ‘say anything, do anything or turn on anyone’ to get out of jail.

‘Ashton absolutely regrets his friendship with Diddy considering what has happened,’ an insider previously told DailyMail.com. ‘He feels lied to, betrayed, taken for granted and manipulated.’

The source continued: ‘He feels the same way about Danny Masterson. He now trusts no one except for his wife Mila [Kunis]. He is going to keep his circle to his family.’

Back in October 2023, Kutcher and Kunis came under fire after sharing letters of support for their former That 70’s Show costar Danny Masterson, in which they pleaded for the judge to show leniency to the actor before he was sentenced to 30 years.

Following the backlash, the couple – who got married in 2015 and share two children – posted an apology video, and Kutcher stepped down as chair of his anti-child sex abuse organization.

DailyMail.com previously revealed that Kutcher was expecting a subpoena when Combs’ houses were raided earlier this year.

‘He does not want to get involved in this, but knows that his association means he already is,’ the insider explained.

‘If he gets contacted by the authorities, he will be fully cooperative as he has nothing to hide.

‘Ashton knows that he dug himself a hole with this one but never in a million years did he believe that Diddy was truly doing these horrible things.’

  • The 10-Week Plan: What To Eat Every Week For Wedding-Ready Skin, Hair And Health

The 10-Week Plan: What To Eat Every Week For Wedding-Ready Skin, Hair And Health

With the wedding and holiday seasons approaching fast, your schedule is likely to get busier with wedding invites, holiday plans, and endless celebrations. Amid the excitement, taking care of your health can be challenging. From glowing skin to strong hair and maintaining overall wellness, what you eat can make a massive difference. This guide will walk you through a 10-week roadmap to keep you looking and feeling your best – without giving up on the festive fun. It’s not just a diet; it’s about making small, sustainable lifestyle changes that will keep your body, hair, and skin healthy all season long.

From Week 1 to Week 10: Here’s The Ultimate Festive And Wedding Glow Plan For Skin, Hair And Wellness:

Week 1-2: Set the Foundation for Success

    Define Your Festive Health Goals

Start by getting clear on what you want to achieve. Do you want glowing skin and shinier hair, or maybe you’re aiming to lose a few pounds? Being specific will make it easier to stay on track. The SMART method works great here: Make your goals Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. For example, instead of saying, “I want glowing skin,” aim for something like, “I’ll drink 8 glasses of water and eat a serving of fruits and veggies daily.”

    Hydration Is Key

The secret to glowing skin and healthy hair starts with hydration. Drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day will help flush toxins from your body and keep your skin supple. If plain water isn’t your thing, mix it up with herbal teas or infuse your water with slices of cucumber, mint, or berries.

    Clean Up Your Diet

The first step to a festive-ready body is ditching processed foods. Swap sugary drinks and junk food for whole foods like veggies, fruits, lean proteins, and whole grains. Processed foods are packed with unhealthy fats and sugar, which can lead to inflammation, poor skin, and weight gain – definitely not the kind of festive glow you’re aiming for!
Also Read:5 Things Your Nails Are Telling You About Your Health, As Shared By A Nutritionist

Week 3-4: Nourish Your Skin and Hair

Eat for Healthy Skin and Hair

By now, you’ve cleaned up your diet, so it’s time to take it up a notch. Foods rich in antioxidants like berries, spinach, and sweet potatoes help fight free radicals that cause ageing. Healthy fats from salmon, walnuts, and flaxseeds will keep your skin glowing and hair shiny. Protein-rich foods like eggs, tofu, and legumes are crucial for skin repair and hair growth.

    Build a Skin-Care Routine

Your skin needs some love from the outside, too. A simple cleanse-and-moisturize routine twice a day can make a world of difference. Don’t skip exfoliating once or twice a week to slough off dead skin cells and reveal your natural glow. If you haven’t yet, consider adding a serum targeting your specific skin concerns-whether that’s ageing, dullness, or acne.

    Step Up Your Haircare

Give your hair some love by incorporating regular scalp massages, which increase blood circulation and promote hair growth. A weekly deep conditioning treatment with ingredients like argan or coconut oil will help hydrate your hair, keeping it strong and soft.

Week 5-6: Boost Your Metabolism and Fitness

    Move More, Feel Better

Exercise is vital for a healthy metabolism. Incorporate a mix of cardio (jogging, cycling, or swimming) and strength training to tone your body and burn calories. Staying active throughout the day also helps-whether it’s taking the stairs, stretching during breaks, or squeezing in a quick home workout.

    Add Metabolism-Boosting Foods

Incorporate metabolism-boosting spices like cayenne pepper, cinnamon, and ginger into your meals. Green tea is another excellent addition to your diet-packed with antioxidants, it helps rev up your metabolism while offering skin benefits too.

    Prioritize Sleep

Adequate sleep is crucial during this period. Aim for 7-8 hours of quality sleep each night to give your body time to repair and regenerate. Poor sleep can affect your skin, hair, and overall energy levels. Create a calming bedtime routine by ditching screens at least 30 minutes before bed and relaxing with a book or meditation.

Week 7-8: Energise and Fine-Tune Your Diet

    Portion Control for Lasting Energy

While the festive season may involve indulgence, mastering portion control will help you enjoy your favourite treats without overdoing it. Stick to high-quality proteins like eggs, legumes, and lean meats, and balance them with complex carbs like quinoa or sweet potatoes. These foods will keep your energy levels stable and prevent post-wedding or post-festivity fatigue.

    Fiber Up!

Boost your fibre intake by adding more whole grains, veggies, and fruits to your diet. Fibre keeps your digestion smooth and helps you feel fuller for longer-reducing the likelihood of overeating at those festive buffets. Don’t forget probiotic-rich foods like yogurt and kefir, which support gut health, ultimately benefiting your skin and overall well-being.

    Strengthen Your Core

Fitness shouldn’t just focus on cardio. Incorporate core workouts like planks and crunches to improve your posture and strengthen your middle. If you’re looking for something gentler, Pilates and yoga are great for building core strength while improving flexibility and balance.

    Week 9-10: The Final Push

    Light Detox, No Extremes

A gentle detox before the height of the festive season can make a world of difference. Focus on detoxifying foods like leafy greens, lemon water, and green smoothies. Avoid extreme cleanses and instead, reduce inflammation by cutting back on refined sugars, alcohol, and processed foods.

    Pre-Festivity Skin and Hair Prep

In the final weeks, it’s time for some pampering. Treat yourself to a facial – whether DIY or professional – that focuses on hydration and brightening. For your hair, consider a professional treatment or trim to ensure it’s in perfect shape for all the upcoming parties.

    Mind and Body Relaxation

With all the hustle and bustle, don’t forget to relax. Mindfulness and meditation can lower stress levels, which have a direct impact on your skin and hair health. Even 10 minutes a day of deep breathing or quiet time can make a huge difference. Self-care is essential during this hectic time, whether it’s a hot bath or a quiet walk outdoors.

    Push Your Fitness Further

For those looking for an extra edge, High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is your go-to. These quick, high-energy workouts are perfect for burning fat and improving cardiovascular health. Don’t forget to focus on flexibility as well-stretching will help you avoid injury and keep your body agile for all the festive dancing!

    Consistency is Key

By the end of these 10 weeks, you’ll not only look fabulous but also feel more energized, confident, and ready for the festivities ahead. Stick to these simple habits beyond the festive season to maintain the progress you’ve made. From glowing skin and shiny hair to better digestion and lasting energy, these easy changes will keep you healthy and happy in the long run.

Whether you’re gearing up for Diwali, Christmas, or the wedding season, a balanced, nutritious diet and consistent self-care routine will make sure you’re glowing from the inside out. With this roadmap in hand, you’re all set to enjoy the celebrations without compromising your health!

  • World ski body and UN weather agency team up to help winter sports plan for climate change

World ski body and UN weather agency team up to help winter sports plan for climate change

GENEVA — Facing a long-time crisis in winter sports because of climate change, the International Ski and Snowboard Federation teamed up with the United Nations weather agency on Thursday.

The initial five-year partnership between FIS and the World Meteorological Organization aims to help national ski federations, venues and race organizers better understand weather forecasting to manage natural and artificial snow. An online meeting is set for Nov. 7.

The Switzerland-based organizations said in a joint statement “winter sports and tourism face a bleak future because of climate change” and warmer temperatures.

FIS said weather issues forced the cancellation of 26 of its 616 World Cups last season across disciplines including Alpine and cross-country skiing, snowboard park and pipe, freestyle skiing and ski jumping.

“Ruined winter vacations and canceled sports fixtures are — literally — the tip of the iceberg of climate change,” WMO Secretary-General Celeste Saulo said in a statement.

Event organizers have long relied on using local water resources to make artificial snow for preparing courses and it is common to see broadcasts of races on a ribbon of white through brown and green forests and fields.

“The climate crisis is obviously far bigger than FIS, or sports, for that matter,” its president Johan Eliasch said. “It is a genuine crossroads for mankind.

“It is true, though, that climate change is, simply put, an existential threat to skiing and snowboarding.”

As global temperatures rise, the International Olympic Committee has said by 2040 just 10 countries could have a “climate-reliable” outlook to host snow events at a Winter Games.

The 2022 Beijing Winter Games relied entirely on artificial snow to stage Alpine races about 90 kilometers (55 miles) north of the city in mountains that get almost no natural snowfall.

Saudi Arabia is creating a ski resort with a man-made lake near the futuristic city Project Neom and preparing to host the 2029 Asian Winter Games.

In Switzerland, the federal weather office has said Alpine glaciers have lost about 60% of their volume since 1850.

“The thawing of frozen ground in mountain, arctic and sub-arctic regions has direct consequences on the stability of infrastructures built on it, as well as contributing to increasing the amount of carbon in the atmosphere,” the WMO said.

Less snow is falling at lower altitudes up to 800 meters (2,600 feet), with the number of snowfall days halved since 1970, the Geneva-based UN agency said.

  • SpaceMantra pulls out resolution plan for Future Lifestyle

SpaceMantra pulls out resolution plan for Future Lifestyle

Mumbai: SpaceMantra, the winning bidder to take over Kishore Biyani’s retail brand outlet Future Lifestyle Fashions (FLFL), has withdrawn its resolution plan for the company days before lenders overwhelmingly voted for it, putting creditors of the debt-laden company in a quandary.

SpaceMantra, promoted by former NBCC chairman Anoop Kumar Mittal, along with two individuals, Sandeep Gupta and Shalini Gupta, had emerged as the sole bidder for FLFL after almost an 18-month process since the company was admitted to bankruptcy in May 2023.

The retailer of construction, building material and office furniture had placed a ₹490 crore bid to beat the early interest shown by Donear Industries among others.

The company was supposed to pay ₹490 crore within 90 days of the NCLT approval according to its timeline submitted to lenders, working out to a 14% recovery for creditors. However, even as lenders put to vote its proposal earlier this month, the SpaceMantra-led consortium changed its mind. In a letter to the resolution professional (RP) Ravi Sethia on September 25, the consortium said it was no longer interested in continuing its resolution plan.

“On account of the inordinate delay leading to erosion of the value of inventory and other assets of the corporate debtor and the changed circumstances in the intervening period, we are hereby informing you that we are no longer interested in continuing with our resolution plan and we are hereby withdrawing the process,” the letter accessed by ET said.

This letter, which came just two days before the end of the voting period, was followed by a creditors’ meeting on September 26 in which voting was concluded and subsequently the SpaceMantra consortium was unanimously declared the winning bidder through a stock market disclosure on September 28.”It is imperative to note that the resolution plan submitted by the resolution applicant which was put to vote pursuant to the discussions of the 21st CoC meeting held on August 13 has been approved by the CoC with the requisite majority….Therefore you are required to comply with the terms and unconditionally accept the letter of intent issued to you by the undersigned on September 27,” RP Sethia said in an email response accessed by ET. Sethia did not reply to an email seeking comment.A senior SpaceMantra official confirmed that the company has withdrawn from its bid for FLFL because of the delays in the process. The company did not reply to an email seeking comment.

Creditors are now insisting that the company complete its obligation and fulfil the payments due. “It seems that SpaceMantra was backed by a large corporate group which has pulled out. SpaceMantra, on its own, could never be taken seriously, but since it was the only bidder, banks had no choice but to accept the bid. This turn of events highlighted the challenges banks face in recovery as bidders can never be trusted to fulfill their commitment,” said a person aware of the details.

Creditors are now looking at impounding the ₹2 crore earnest money deposited by the consortium, but admit they have very little recourse beyond that.

The latest updated claims show that FLFL, the owner of retail chains Central and Brand Factory, owes creditors including bondholders a total of ₹3,478 crore. State Bank of India (SBI) is the lead lender with claims of ₹477 crore. Bondholders represented by Catalyst Trusteeship and Centbank Financial Services are owed about ₹1,100 crore. SBI did not reply to an email seeking comment.

At its peak, FLFL used to operate more than 300 stores selling clothes, footwear and accessories of various third-party and in-house brands.

  • Queensland urged not to panic over 2032 Olympics amid criticism of ‘cringeworthy’ suburban stadium plan | Brisbane Olympic Games 2032

Queensland’s Liberal National party leader says people are “embarrassed” by a Labor proposal to host major Olympic events at a suburban athletics stadium, which the 2032 Games’ organising committee says needs to be properly costed.

David Crisafulli on Wednesday renewed criticism of the bid to use the ageing Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre (Qsac) for the 2032 Brisbane Olympics as “neither visionary nor cost effective” and said it would not meet the future needs of the city.

“I don’t think there’s any scenario where any Queenslander looks at that plan and doesn’t see anything but cringeworthiness from a desperate government,” Crisafulli said.

The opposition leader said Queenslanders were “so embarrassed” by the government’s handling of a “once in a generation opportunity to deliver generational infrastructure”.

He has flagged a review of infrastructure if the LNP wins government at the 26 October state election.

The Labor government committed to giving Qsac a facelift for the games, even after it was ruled out as a venue by an independent review, in March. Under the proposal the 100 metres final could be held in the smallest athletics stadium since Amsterdam’s in 1928.

The premier, Steven Miles, on Wednesday said the project validation report on Qsac would not be delivered until the second quarter of 2025.

Andrew Liveris, the president of the Games’ organising committee, said the body could not take a position on the stadium until costings were delivered.

“We’ve been very, very clear. I’ve been very, very clear that until we see numbers on Qsac there is no position Brisbane 2032 is taking,” he told reporters on Wednesday.

Brisbane is no ‘hillbilly town’, insists 2032 Olympic chief Andrew Liveris from Paris – video

“We need to know the cost aspect of what would be an athletic stadium.

“In terms of the Olympics and the delivery, we’re committed to a budget – $5bn – and we’ve got to get that budget right.

“You just have to be in the Stade de France [during the Paris Olympics], watching the sevens rugby with 80,000 people providing revenue and top sponsors providing revenue, to understand the power of having a right-sized stadium.”

Liveris said there were two major lessons from Paris 2024 – the athlete experience and the fan experience.

While Paris had 40,000 gendarmes on the streets for security, he said their presence was never felt.

Paris also successfully integrated the fan experience with their venues.

Brisbane had an activation site in the city of love that saw 1.5 million people view their billboard that was held at an Australian-owned coffee shop in the French capital.

Slowly but surely Brisbane is finding its place on the world stage and the globe will know Queensland’s capital when the Los Angeles Games come around in 2028, Liveris said.

Importantly, time is on the sunshine state’s side.

“We have 2,865 days to get this right,” Liveris said.

“Paris were still deciding on venues 600 days out. Los Angeles still hasn’t finalised many of their venues for many of their sports.

“So, please don’t panic. We’ve got this.”

When asked about the biggest thing Brisbane can learn from Paris on Wednesday, the Labor minister Grace Grace quipped: “Not to swim in the Seine.”
