Do more with a Lifestyle TV or Projector this summer

I’ve said this before, many times: our choices with TVs have never been so broad. This means not only do we have the chance to fill a space with a new TV but also use the space and the TV for more than just a “big black box”.  Plus, with devices like Samsung’s The Freestyle Portable Projector, the “where” you watch has changed forever.

Coming into summer, there’s plenty of good reasons to buy a new big screen TV. For cricket fans, the Summer of Cricket, and add to that the Cricket Gold Channel on Samsung TV Plus[1] (only on select Samsung Smart TV, Projectors and Smart monitors[2], sorry!). Or more generally, my favourite streaming shows returning with new seasons, and so much more. Perhaps as a family we might flick on Samsung’s 24/7 pop-up Christmas Movies Channel[3]

When it comes to TV displays, I have always been a supporter of the “go big or go home” strategy to fill the space you have with the biggest TV you can afford. But one additional consideration is how often that TV is not being watched – and that’s where Samsung’s The Frame TV in the family room comes into its own. Then there’s the Samsung The Freestyle Portable Projector, capable of displaying up to 100-inches of brilliant picture quality paired with rich 360-degree sound. Of course, there are other considerations.

Samsung tells me that for 46% of Australians who purchased a new TV last year, design is a big consideration[4]. That’s where TVs like Samsung’s The Frame come into the picture. Now, this may be a great strategy to get the wife to agree to that big new TV, because no, it’s not going to be just a big black box on the wall.

Samsung’s The Frame isn’t necessarily new – Samsung launched this impressive ‘TV when it’s on, art when it’s off’ offering back in 2017. But, almost every year since, Samsung has expanded sizes making The Frame bigger, has been refining the display with new technologies such as matte and anti-glare,[5] and has been adding to its Art-Store[6] offering which brings some of the world’s most discerning art pieces to your living room. You can even display your family photos[7] as the TV’s art.

One thing that people often forget about with The Frame is that it’s a premium Samsung TV that shows content when you’re not watching TV. And, it does it with smarts, so when there’s no one in the room, it turns off, which can help you save some energy, but when you’re in the room it’s giving you the joy of art and or photos.

As I’ve said before, Australian’s appreciate well designed TVs – which explains why Australia consumers are the second biggest buyer of Samsung The Frame TVs in the world[8].

You can now get a Frame TV in seven sizes from 32-inches up to a massive 85-inches. So no matter the size of your wall space, it’s a great option. And for those still considering how big is too big, here’s a stat for consideration: one in three Australians who bought a TV this year wished they had gone bigger on their TV purchase – particularly when it came to sport viewing[9].

Now here’s a tip for existing owners of Samsung’s The Frame and for those looking to buy this summer: Customise for the occasion.

We’re all entertaining more over summer, so think about who’s coming and take the time to put photos relevant up on your Samsung The Frame TV.

You do this in the Samsung SmartThings App, under Devices, Your TV, Art Mode and add photos.

Doing this shows you care in a way your mates appreciate. Displaying a set of memories for those friends coming round, or updated photos of the kids when grandparents come around

You might even create some TV envy. Samsung research showed that 46% of people admitted to suffering a little TV envy when comparing their TV to that of friends and family![10]

Not only is it thoughtful, but it’s a conversation starter too. Oh, and if the cricket’s about to start, that’s just the push of a button away.

If you’re looking to do something different this summer, consider an outdoor movie night!

We’ve done this before with Samsung’s The Freestyle Portable Projector. And you don’t have to go to too much trouble.

The Freestyle Portable Projector is a pocket rocket – it’s got the trusted Samsung TV operating system on it, so you can easily use streaming apps, catch up apps, watch over 100 channels via Samsung TV Plus, or various methods to show what you want to watch (as long as you’re connected to the internet).

Pair up a big Bluetooth speaker or a Samsung soundbar for even better sound. Find a stable spot for the projector and point it at a flat surface.

I found that hanging a bedsheet from the clothesline was all we needed. Just be sure to get some pegs and weight the sheet to stretch it out a bit.

Once you get into this, you’ll probably look into a simple white projector screen which will be even better for the image.

When it’s the dark of night, this is a fantastic way to sit back and enjoy sport, movies or your favourite streaming show.

Set up the fire pit to cook some marshmallows and hello!

Tell your mates to bring a chair or picnic rug, don’t over complicate it, and order pizzas for delivery – you deserve to enjoy it too.

Asking people around for an outdoor movie night is an easy thing to do if you buy a Samsung The Freestyle Portable Projector – a whole lot easier than lugging a TV screen outside. Unless of course you already have a Samsung The Terrace Outdoor TV! But that’s a story for another time.

You see, this Summer doesn’t have to be boring!  Spice things up and change the way you do things… Your friends will love you for it!
