Radio presenter Kyle Sandilands has revealed the reason why Jackie ‘O’ Henderson took two months leave from her KIIS FM show back in November 2022.

It was reported the mother of one, 49, made the tough decision to step away from co-hosting her radio show at the time to focus on her health.

However, Kyle has now revealed co-host Jackie actually took time off to focus on her appearance.

The radio hosts were speaking to Abbie Chatfield during Wednesday’s The Kyle and Jackie O show about ‘slut-shaming’ comments Kyle made on the air during Jackie’s absence.

‘If Jackie wasn’t away worrying about her own image, then this would never have happened,’ Kyle said.

‘Jackie was husbandless, fat, miserable and I backed her.’

At the time, Jackie announced she was stepping down from her KIIS radio show for health reasons.

Jackie, who had been coughing and sounding unwell on air for weeks, explained at the time she had been suffering from poor health since contracting Covid-19 a few months prior and needed proper rest to recover.

‘I’ve been not very well ever since I’ve had Covid… I’ve been struggling with this fatigue,’ she told listeners.

‘I just have to take some time off,’ she added. ‘I’m ending the show today. As in now.

She later opened up about the poor state of her mental and physical health.

‘It was hard to take that time off. I was pushing through but I should have taken it off earlier,’ she told News.com.au in January 2023.

She added: ‘I just could not push myself any further. I’m glad I took care of my health first because I feel like a million times better.’

Jackie focused on both her physical and mental recovery during the two months she was off the air and managed to both shed the kilos and mentally realign herself.

On Wednesday, Kyle revealed Jackie (pictured) took time off was to focus on ‘her look’

She said a tropical holiday in Fiji with her daughter Kitty, 13, saw her develop a healthy eating and sleeping routine which helped with her return to work in January 2023.

‘I started to get into different kinds of exercise like tennis and water aerobics. It is the most amazing exercise and works every muscle in your body,’ she said.

Jackie added it was important for everyone to recognise their limits and take a break when needed to prevent the risk of burn out.

‘Whatever position you’re in, I promise you’ll feel better about yourself when you start making steps towards that healthier lifestyle.’

Aussie sporting great Michele Timms reveals the incredible reason she got a HUGE shock when she met Hollywood superstar Bill Murray

She is one of Australia’s all-time basketball greats and now Opals star Michele Timms has become just the third Aussie to be honoured in the sport’s Hall of Fame – where she received a massive surprise from Hollywood icon Bill Murray.

Timms made 264 appearances for the Australian national team, winning a silver medal at the Sydney Olympics, and was named in the 1999 WNBA All-Stars team with the Phoenix Mercury. She is also a WNBL championship-winning coach.

The Melbourne-born point guard became just the third Australian to be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on the weekend, joining champion coach Lindsay Gaze and Lauren Jackson.

Some of the biggest names to ever take to the hardwood were present at the gala presentation in Springfield, Massachusetts, including Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird.

But it was one Hollywood star that gave Timms the biggest shock on the night, with Bill Murray walking up to her to shake her hand.

Not only did the star of hit films including Ghostbusters, Caddyshack and Space Jam know who Timms was, he had watched her play for the Phoenix and had glowing words for the Australian star.

‘Incredible being in the room with Jordan, Bird, Johnston, but the one who I was super excited about was getting a pic with Bill Murray – who told me he used to love watching me play and then went into a spiel about the way I played,’ a shocked Timms said.

Bill Murray is a well known basketball fan and played himself in the Hollywood blockbuster Space Jam alongside Michael Jordan and the Looney Tunes cartoon characters

Murray is a well known basketball tragic, frequently attending games to support his son, Luke Murray, who is an assistant coach for the UConn Huskies college team.

He has been seen cheering for UConn during their NCAA Tournament games, despite originally being an Illinois Fighting Illini fan.

In the movie Space Jam, Bill Murray plays himself, appearing as a friend of Michael Jordan.

He assists the Tune Squad during the climactic basketball game by joining as a player, ultimately helping them secure victory against the Monstars.

Timms dedicated the award to everyone who inspired her basketball journey, her former teammates, the Opals and the Phoenix Mercury.

‘To Betty Watson, the godmother of Australian women’s basketball, Betty didn’t have any daughters but when the call came from FIBA in 1954 to start women’s basketball in Australia, she took up the challenge.

‘She fought bureaucracy and a male-dominated landscape to ensure an Australian team would compete at its first-ever World Championships in 1957.

‘To the eight brave women who took the five-month voyage by boat to compete at that World Championship, I am forever grateful for your courage and sacrifices.

‘That was to be the first chapter of Australian women’s basketball.’

However, consuming 90% dark chocolate may be challenging, and as a result, many opt for commercially available chocolates with added sweeteners. In the post, the chef shares, “Minced onion tastes stronger than chopped onion, which tastes stronger than sliced.”

Science Of Cutting Onions

How does that happen? Here’s the science. The chef explains, “At the root of onion flavour are enzymes called onion alliinase and LF synthase, which are released the moment the vegetable’s cells are damaged, jump-starting a pivotal chemical reaction. The enzymes act on a sulfur-containing molecule called isoalliin. The more you break down onion cells by chopping, the more isoalliin is produced.

Cutting Onion With The Grain vs. Against The Grain

Even the angle or direction in which you cut the onion affects its pungency. “Slicing pole to pole or from north to south (with the grain) ruptures fewer cells than slicing parallel to the equator (against the grain), thus producing fewer thiosulfinates.”

The same applies to whether you want crunchy or softer onions. Cutting the onion with the grain exposes fewer fibres. When you cut it this way, the onion doesn’t release too much water, and when you cook it, it stays crunchy and has more texture. This style is great for pickled onions and stir-fries. On the other hand, if you want to caramelise the onions, such as for gravies and soups, cut them across the grain, and you’ll get softer onions.
