Woman Receives “Free” Dhaniya With Roses From Swiggy Instamart, Internet Reacts

Most of us ask for free dhaniya (coriander leaves) and hari mirchi (green chillies) from vegetable vendors. Don’t we? Now, it seems like online grocery stores have also adopted this practice of giving dhaniya for free. Recently, a social media user expressed her shock after online delivery platform Swiggy Instagram sent her free dhaniya. But there’s a catch. The dhaniya was given on the purchase of a bouquet of roses gifted by the woman’s partner. Sharing the details of the unique offer, she wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “He sent me flowers and Swiggy sent free dhaniya with that bro why would I need that?”

The woman also posted two parallel pictures on the micro-blogging platform. One of them showcased the Swiggy Instamart page. It featured an image of the rose bouquet which was added to the cart and coriander leaves with the word “free” written next to it. In the second frame, the woman offers viewers a glimpse of the rose bouquet beside the dhaniya.

The reactions to the post were hilarious.

“Swiggy wants you to cook something for him now,” guessed a user

“He made your day good now dhaniya will help you to make good food,” said another.

“Maybe Swiggy wanted to call you dhuniya (means beautiful in Assamese),” speculated an individual.

“Dhaniya makes everything good only.. mummy ne bataya tha (My mother has said this)” shared a person.

“My dad brings Dhaniya and flowers for mum and for the kitchen every week so if we see from this point it shows your future with the guy,” read a sweet remark.

A user called the experience, “core Indian market thing.”

“One is to impress you and another is to impress your mom I guess,” commented someone else.

  • Louisiana Athletics receives $1.5 million gift from James D. Moncus Family Foundation – Crescent City Sports

Louisiana Athletics receives $1.5 million gift from James D. Moncus Family Foundation – Crescent City Sports

    Tigue Moore Field

Support will help fund Our Lady of Lourdes Stadium and the baseball clubhouse project.

LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Department of Athletics has received a $1.5 million gift from the James D. Moncus Family Foundation which will provide support for the continued renovation of Our Lady of Lourdes Stadium and the baseball clubhouse project at M.L. “Tigue” Moore Field at Russo Park, it was announced Wednesday.

In recognition of the transformational gift, the premium entryway on the West side of Our Lady of Lourdes Stadium will be named the Jim & Ruth Moncus Premium Entry.

“We are extremely grateful and very appreciative of this generous gift from the Moncus family,” Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Bryan Maggard said. “This investment in Louisiana Athletics will play a key role in our continued efforts to transform our facilities which will enhance the experiences for our student-athletes, coaches and fans.”

A native of Houston, Jim Moncus entered the oil and gas industry following service in the United States Marine Corps. He came to Lafayette in 1962, after his first oil and gas job in Casper, Wyoming, ended suddenly. Moncus worked for Lamb Oil for over a decade; in 1974, he founded Devin International, an oilfield equipment company. Moncus held patents for dozens of oilfield tools and procedures – many still being used today – during an almost 50-year career in the industry.

After selling the company in 2008, Jim and Ruth Moncus shifted their focus to continuing their decades-long commitment to philanthropy, creating the James Devin Moncus Family Foundation and investing in local and regional non-profits.

The Moncus Foundation locally invested millions to establish a new city park, further the arts and education, and ensure the very best of health care for the citizens of Lafayette Parish.

Among their many contributions to the University, the Moncus family has established scholarships and endowed professorships. Their longstanding support of the University resonates in many corners of campus, including arts, nursing, sciences and athletics.

“Jim was an avid and enthusiastic supporter of UL Athletics. He enjoyed attending all sporting events and was a loyal Ragin’ Cajuns fan,” said Debbie Spallino of the James D. Moncus Family Foundation. “The Moncus Foundation is very proud to be a part of this exciting time at the University and honored to continue Jim’s legacy of giving back to the community he loved so much.”

The University posthumously honored Mr. Moncus with an honorary Doctor of Nursing practice degree in December 2021, shortly after his death at age 81. His wife, Ruth, a nurse for 35 years, accepted on his behalf. Ruth Moncus has continued her late husband’s philanthropic work through the Moncus Family Foundation; she was a driving force behind the $7 million gift to UL Lafayette from the James Devin Moncus Family Foundation that will enable the Health Sciences Campus’ continued growth and fund an endowment to support the College of Nursing & Health Sciences.

The $1.5 million gift from the Moncus Family Foundation to Athletics is part of the largest comprehensive fundraising campaign in the University’s history.

Announced in November of 2021, Together: The Campaign for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette aims to raise $500 million. Among the campaign’s priorities: the renovation and maintenance of training and competition spaces for Ragin’ Cajuns student-athletes.

Athletics projects completed as part of the Together Campaign include Our Lady of Lourdes Stadium, Russo Park, the renovation of E.K. Long Gym, the Donald and Janice Mosing SAPC Auditorium, and the Golf Indoor Teaching Facility at Oakbourne Country Club.

The renovated west tower of Our Lady of Lourdes Stadium will offer premium suites, a luxurious club level, loge boxes, and club seats, providing Ragin’ Cajuns fans new opportunities to engage with the football program and the Ragin’ Cajuns Athletic Foundation (RCAF).

Premium suites will include both indoor and outdoor seating, access to a climate-controlled club area, premium catering, and suite attendants. Loge boxes will feature private outdoor seating and premium parking access, while club seats will offer comfortable outdoor seating with armrests and beverage holders. Both loge box and club seat patrons will enjoy access to the exclusive McElligott Club and its amenities.

The upgrades to Russo Park will significantly enhance the facility’s functionality and appeal, featuring a state-of-the-art clubhouse designed to meet the needs of players and staff. The baseball clubhouse will provide a comfortable and efficient space for team operations and newly renovated coaches’ offices.

The renovations will introduce dedicated indoor hitting and pitching areas in the left field corner, allowing athletes to train year-round regardless of weather conditions. These upgrades are set to elevate the overall experience for the team and coaching staff, positioning Russo Park as a top-tier facility on the national level.

  • Man Utd dressing room reaction to Sporting 4-1 Man City as Ruben Amorim receives message | Football | Sport

Man Utd dressing room reaction to Sporting 4-1 Man City as Ruben Amorim receives message | Football | Sport

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has revealed he was among the players who tuned into Sporting’s demolition of Manchester City on Tuesday night. Incoming Red Devils head coach Ruben Amorim outwitted Pep Guardiola to mark his Lisbon farewell with a touch of Champions League magic.

Viktor Gyokeres’ hat-trick added to Maximiliano Araujo’s strike to cancel out Phil Foden’s early opener and record a memorable 4-1 triumph at the Jose Alvalade Stadium.

Amorim saved one of his finest Sporting results as a parting gift for the kingdom he has built across a transformative four-year reign.

On that note, Brobdingnagian, imagined in Jonathan Swift’s Gulliver’s Travels, is a kingdom where everything was of an enormous scale.

That fictitious land will become a reality for Amorim when he switches his self-crafted dominance in Lisbon for the bright lights of a seemingly impossible job in Manchester.

The 39-year-old admitted himself after full-time on Tuesday that he is tasked with lifting United from a “low” point, just as he did Sporting in 2020.

If how Amorim orchestrated a masterclass against the Premier League champions didn’t enthuse United’s fragile squad, nothing will.

But Onana hailed the Portuguese giants’ victory and insisted that he and his team-mates would be ready for the challenge of adapting to Amorim’s vision.

“Yeah, I did. I did watch the game yesterday. Great victory from them, different system, but my players, my team-mates, we are all pragmatic,” Onana explained ahead of Thursday’s Europa League clash against PAOK.

“I think everyone is capable of playing in each system so I don’t think this will be an issue for us. We have big players, so we’ll step up.”

United host PAOK at Old Trafford, desperately needing three points, having surrendered leads to draw all three of their opening Europa League fixtures.

Ruud van Nistelrooy will remain in interim charge for the Greek champions’ visit, as well as Leicester City’s in the Premier League on Sunday.

Amorim is set to start work at Carrington on Monday after overseeing his final Sporting match, a trip to his former club, SC Braga.

Van Nistelrooy’s status once Amorim gets started is up in the air, despite only making his welcome return to Old Trafford in the summer.

And the Dutchman has admitted he has yet to talk to the Sporting boss ahead of his arrival in Manchester.

He said: “No, I haven’t had contact so far. There’s no changes in that. I don’t know when [I will speak to Amorim].”

  • $2,000 chicken rice? Shuttler Loh Kean Yew receives Grab food delivery in Denmark, Lifestyle News

$2,000 chicken rice? Shuttler Loh Kean Yew receives Grab food delivery in Denmark, Lifestyle News

Getting chicken rice from Singapore delivered to you when in Denmark?

That appears to be the privilege that one enjoys as a brand ambassador for Grab.

In a cute video posted by Grab Singapore on Sunday (Oct 20), Singapore shuttler Loh Kean Yew is seen receiving a surprise delivery from Grab while overseas, after earlier making an Instagram post that he was craving for chicken rice.

Kean Yew had been in Odense, Denmark for the Denmark Open, which ended on Oct 20.

In the clip, posted to Grab’s social media accounts, a woman decked out in the company’s delivery uniform is shown catching a flight from Singapore to Zurich via Swiss Air, armed with a red plastic bag containing a styrofoam box.

She then hops on a connecting flight to Copenhagen followed by a train ride. After at least one car journey, another train ride, and what looks to be loads of walking, she eventually ends up at the door of where Kean Yew had been putting up.

After hesitantly cracking open the door, the 27-year-old badminton champ looks surprised as he exclaims: “Huh, you all really come? I thought you all joking eh. Oh my god, thank you, thank you.”

‘How much is the delivery fee?’

The Grab employee had earlier showed how the drop-off was sparked by a post by Kean Yew on Oct 16, which stated how he was “thinking about” chicken rice while in Odense.

Responding to a comment by Grab that said it would deliver the dish to him when he’s back, Kean Yew wrote: “I’m a Grab Unlimited subscriber though, can get chicken rice in Denmark?”

The tech company swiftly responded, “Okay.”

In a comment left by Kean Yew on Grab’s latest video, he wrote: “Still can’t believe it.”

However, at least one netizen wondered if the entire thing was staged.

In an email to AsiaOne, a spokesperson for Grab stated that the video was part of “an exciting activation” that Grab just worked on with Kean Yew, who was appointed its first brand ambassador in 2022.

Some other viewers had more practical concerns, such as how much the delivery fee for such a trip would cost.

“Delivery fee’s going to be like SGD2,000,” wrote one commenter.

Another expressed hope to receive the same kind of service.

“I’m in Toronto, Canada. Feel free to deliver chicken rice to me any day, any time.”

A large number of commenters, however, appeared to be concerned that the chicken rice would have ended up inedible by the time it reached Kean Yew’s hands.

“Can’t be eaten ba [sic] after such a long flight from SG. Unless it has been frozen beforehand.”

Responding to our queries, the spokesperson affirmed that the chicken rice was not brought through customs due to issues with food safety.

Instead, they revealed that the company had worked with a Denmark-based Singaporean home cook, known on Instagram as Eatbyjun, to make the dish.

Last year, a video which showed a Grab rider flying to Singapore to buy chicken rice for a Thai customer had gone viral.

It was later confirmed by a Grab spokesperson that the clip was a “fictional video created by a member of the public independently”.

The video also carried a disclaimer that the special delivery was “an agreement between the rider and the orderer only“.

  • Viral Video: Professor Calls Sushi “Cold Rice”, Receives Mixed Reactions Online

Viral Video: Professor Calls Sushi “Cold Rice”, Receives Mixed Reactions Online

Sushi is one of the most popular Japanese delicacies around the world. However, its taste can be rather polarising among certain foodies. One person who isn’t a fan is digital creator and professor Dr. Falguni Vasavada. In a recent Instagram video, she shared her first experience trying sushi. “Toh breaking news mein ye hai ki, abhi tak maine kabhi bhi sushi khayi nhi thi. Mujhe mann hi nhi ho raha tha. Woh dekhkei mujhe kuch suspicious lagta tha ([So, the breaking news is that till now, I had never eaten sushi. I never felt like eating it. It looked suspicious to me]),” she said, explaining her hesitation.

At a recent day out with friends, she finally gave it a try. “But yesterday with a group of friends, maine chakhi kyunki mangayi thi, and everybody said, ‘Try try, it’s vegetarian’” ([I tasted it because we ordered it, and everyone said ‘Try it, it’s vegetarian’]), she shared. Despite the encouragement, Dr Vasavada wasn’t impressed. “My first reaction is, why, kyun banani hai aesi cheeje? Kya milta hai aese thanda chawal ke cheeje khaane se?” (Why do we need to make such things? What do we get from eating cold rice dumplings?). Watch the complete video below:

The reel has grabbed many eyeballs online. While some people agreed with the views expressed, others felt that sushi should not be mocked in this way.

One user commented, “I mostly agree with you on all your videos. However, making fun of food type/item is not good.”

“First ever honest review of sushi I came across,” read another.

A hilarious comment read, “Sushi is about the fish. Without fish is like eating jalebi without sugar syrup.”

One more user mentioned, “As a vegetarian and as a lover of sushi, I beg to differ, ma’am. Sushi is light and fresh with an elegant sophistication that has earned it scores of admirers around the world lately.”

A comment read, “You don’t like something, fair enough. But the way you describe it in a condescending manner isn’t fair. Food is food.”
