    FORNEY — North Forney rushed for 553 yards on the way to a District 10-6A win over Royse City.

    Andikan Asuquo led the Falcons with 200 yards and three touchdowns on just five carries, including a 95-yard run. Legend Bey ran for 184 yards and three scores on six carries and was 1-of-2 passing with a 55-yard touchdown pass to Elijah Otieno.

    Royse City quarterback Peyton Peoples was 16-of-29 passing for 267 yards and two TDs. Bryalon Chapman passed for a 2-yard touchdown and placekicker Emilio Brito passed for a 41-yard completion as the Bulldogs finished with 310 yards passing.

    Kemarion Clarke led the Royse City receivers with 202 yards and one TD on six catches.

    Also catching passes for the Bulldogs were Cross Joplin (5-62, 1 TD), Xavier Watson (1-41), Zavier Brown (4-22), Hudson Hays (3-14) and Thomas Neaville (1-2, 1 TD).

    Royse City finished with 38 yards rushing, led by Daniel Jenkins (9-26) and Watson (11-14).

    Royse City dropped to 2-7 for the season and 0-5 in district play. North Forney, which is 6-2 overall, remained tied for the district lead with Longview at 4-0.

    Bonham 10

    BONHAM — In his second game back from an injury, Alfonso Gonzales was 18-of-25 passing for 287 yards and two TDs in Caddo Mills’ victory over Bonham.

    The Foxes’ top receivers cluded Tristan Hardwell (4-85), Kollin Heath (4-72, 1 TD), Steve Stiggers (2-64), Camerin Chase (4-40, 1 TD), Wade Bowen (2-15) and Mikey Grant (1-8).

    Wyatt Watson led the Caddo Mills rushers with 63 yards and two TDs on 13 carries. Joshua Moses ran for 48 yards and a TD on seven carries and Gonzales ran for 24 yards and a score on four carries.

    Caddo Mills improved to 6-3 for the season and 3-2 in District 5-2A-II play. Bonham dropped to 1-7 and 0-4.

     

    Sunnyvale 41

    Quinlan Ford 14

    SUNNYVALE — Sunnyvale won a battle for first place in District 6-4A-II with Quinlan Ford.

    The victorious Raiders are now 3-0 in district play and 5-3 overall. 

    Ford dropped to 6-2 and 2-1.

    Ford rushed for 276 yards, led by Raythen Capps (3-59), Trevin Sisco (8-43), Timmy Phifer (2-36), Zander Sharp (4-35), Payton Wallen (7-27), Devon Williams (6-25), Landon Edwards (7-21), Mason Tigue (7-21), James Barker (2-5) and Ray Haider (1-4, 1 TD).

    Wallen was 5-of-14 passing for 51 yards and a 13-yard TD to Austin States.

    Tigue led the Panther receivers with two catches for 25 yards.

    Sunnyvale quarterback Cayson Maupin was 13-of-23 passing for 175 yards and four TDs and ran for 48 yards on five carries.

    Ford lost two fumbles and an interception.

     

    Commerce 38

    Eustace 8

    COMMERCE — Commerce upped its District 7-3A-I record to 2-2 with the win over Eustace, which dropped to 0-5.

    Commerce running back Jordan McMurray rushed for 128 yards and a TD on 14 carries.

    Malik Garcia ran for 31 yards on two carries and K.D. Ford ran for 26 yards on three carries

    Ford was 2-of-2 passing for 31 yards and two TDs and Grant Sherley was 6-of-10 passing for 75 yards and a TD.

    Te’dreiyon Nash caught four passes for 64 yards for Commerce and Jordan McMurray caught one for eight yards as Commerce improved to 3-5 for the season.

     

    Grand Saline 28

    Lone Oak 7

    LONE OAK — No. 6 state-ranked Grand won a battle with Lone Oak for first place in District 9-3A-II.

    Grand Saline led only 13-7 through three quarters but outscored the Buffaloes 15-0 in the final five minutes.

    The victorious Indians mproved to 8-0 for the season and 3-1 in district play. Lone Oak dropped to 7-1 and 3-1.

    Lone Oak’s passers were 4-of-26 for 36 yards and four interceptions.

    Wyatt Marker led the Lone Oak rushers with 39 yards and a TD on six carries and Moi Perez ran for 13 yards on nine carries.

    Lone Oak’s top receivers were Aiden Holder (1-27) and Corbin Johnson (1-20).

    Jett Taylor paced the Grand Saline rushers with 168 yards and two TDs on 20 carries and Colt Boyd ran for 84 yards.

    Wolfe City 70

    Whitewright 28

    WHITEWRIGHT — H.D. Davis rushed for 350 yards and four TDs on 25 carries to lead Wolfe City over Whitewright.

    Davis, named the Herald-Banner Athlete of the Week, leads the state in rushing with 2,143 yards and 27 touchdowns on 168 carries. He’s averaging 12.8 yards per carry and 267.9 yards rushing per game.

    Wolfe City finished with 609 total yards, including 211 yards passing by Noah Adams, who was 13-of-21 with five touchdowns and no interceptions.

    Jory Young also ran for 43 yards and a TD on seven carries for Wolfe City.

    Wolfe City’s top receivers included Brennon Russell (3-94, 3 TDs), Carson Herron (4-67, 2 TDs), Chris Herron (3-22) and Casen Pessel (2-18) and Daniel Guillen (1-10).

    Gage Walker ran for 193 yards and three scores on 16 carries for Whitewright and Easton Helgren ran for 64 yards and one score on five carries.

    Wolfe City improved to 7-1 for the season and 4-0 in district play. Whitewright dropped to 5-3 and 1-3.

     

    Boles 27

    Como-Pickton 20

    QUINLAN — Boles claimed its first District 9-2A-I win to go 1-3 in district play and 4-4 for the season.

    Como-Pickton dropped to 1-8 overall and 0-5 in district play.

    Layton Morgan threw for a 21-yard touchdown for Boles and ran for 102 yards and a TD on 14 carries.

    Ethan Selden also rushed for 93 yards and a TD for Boles and returned a kickoff 85 yards for a score.

    Noah Davis caught the 21-yard TD pass.

     

    James Bowie 38

    Cumby 32

    SIMMS — Chett Vaughan ran for 118 yards and was 11-of-17 passing for 140 yards and two TDs in Cumby’s loss to James Bowie.

    Braylon Boggs led the Cumby receivers with three catches for 38 yards. Chayton Vaughan caught two passes for 35 yards and a TD and Dakari Johnson caught two passes for 38 yards. Johnson also rushed for 37 yards on six carries.

    Cumby is now 4-4 for the season and 2-2 in District 9-2A-II while James Bowie is 1-7 and 1-3.

    BYU quarterback Jake Retzlaff received a couple of midseason honors on Tuesday.

    He was named to the mid-season watch list for the prestigious Maxwell Award, presented annually by the Maxwell Football Club to the outstanding player in college football.

    He was also named to the Davey O’Brien QB Class of 2024 by the Davey O’Brien Foundation. Each member of the group is now an official candidate of the 2024 Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award.

    Retzlaff has started every game for No. 9-ranked BYU, leading the Cougars to a perfect 8-0 start. The 6-1, 205-pound junior from Corona, California, has competed 137 of 229 passes for 1,872 yards and 18 touchdowns. He is also the Cougars’ second-leading rusher with 63 carries for 303 yards and three additional scores.

    For his performance during the first half of the season, Retzlaff was previously named Midseason Big 12 Quarterback of the Year and All-Big 12 First Team by College Football Network. The Cougar co-captain was also named to the Davey O’Brien Great 8 list and placed on the official Davey O’Brien Award Midseason Watch List following BYU’s 38-35 comeback win over Oklahoma State in week seven.

    Established in 1937, the Maxwell Award is one of the most prestigious honors in college football. The annual award was named in honor of Robert “Tiny” Maxwell who was a football standout at Swarthmore College and later a renowned sportswriter and football official.

    Semifinalists for the Maxwell Award will be announced on Nov. 12, with the three finalists being unveiled on Nov. 26. The winner of the 88th Maxwell Award will be announced as part of the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show held on Dec. 12.

    The Maxwell Football Club was founded in 1935 and is the oldest football organization of its kind in America. The Club recognizes excellence in performance at the high school, collegiate and professional levels of the game.

    In addition to Retzlaff, five other Big 12 quarterbacks were named to the Davey O’Brien QB Class of 2024, including Rocco Becht (Iowa State), Josh Hoover (TCU), Avery Johnson (Kansas State), Shedeur Sanders (Colorado) and Brendan Sorsby (Cincinnati).

    Semifinalists selected from the 2024 Quarterback Class will be named on Nov. 12. The Foundation will then announce three finalists on Nov. 26. The winner of the 2024 Davey O’Brien Award will be unveiled live on ESPN on Dec. 12, during The Home Depot College Football Awards. Fan voting on social media will earn players bonus selection committee votes during the semifinalist, finalist and winner voting rounds.

    The 48th Annual Davey O’Brien Awards Dinner honoring the winner will be held Feb. 17, 2025, at The Fort Worth Club in Fort Worth, Texas.

    Kemavor named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week

    BYU women’s volleyball middle blocker Brielle Kemavor has been named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday morning.

    A product of Bristow, Virginia, Kemavor paced the Cougars at the net with a career-high 12 blocks in their four-set win at Colorado this week. The middle blocker averaged a league-leading three blocks per set, with her 12 total blocks good for fourth-most among conference student-athletes on the week.

    Tallying 14 kills (hitting .600) and 12 blocks against the Buffaloes, Kemavor recorded her second double-double of the season. She is just the seventh middle blocker to record a double-double in the rally scoring era at BYU, the fifth to post more than one in the same season and first since 2012.

    Kemavor is the second Cougar to earn a Big 12 award this season after setter Alex Bower was named the league’s Rookie of the Week earlier this month.

    No. 20 BYU is back home this week for games against No. 13 Arizona State and Arizona, beginning with the Sun Devils on Thursday, Oct. 31 at 7 p.m. MDT.

    Five Cougar women’s soccer players earn All-Big 12 Honors

    BYU women’s soccer earned six All-Big 12 honors for five athletes following the conclusion of the regular season. Allie Fryer, Avery Frischknecht, Mackenzee Vance, Mika Krommenhoek and Lucy Kesler earned First, Second and All-Freshman Team selections.

    Honors were chosen by the league’s head coaches who were not allowed to vote for themselves or their own student-athletes.

    In year two as members of the Big 12 Conference, the Cougars went 6-2-3, and posted an overall record of 8-5-5. BYU finished its season with a No. 4 conference ranking, earning a bye to advance to the Quarterfinals of the Sprouts Farmers Market Big 12 Soccer Championship on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 11:30 a.m. CT.

    The following Cougars were All-Big 12 First Team selections:

    Avery Frischknecht

    As BYU’s starting center back, Frischknecht saw a team-high 1,620 minutes on the pitch. She tallied a career-high four goals on the year, the fourth-highest goals scored by a Cougar this season. All four goals by Frischknecht have come from headers, including her goal in the 90th minute against Texas Tech to give BYU the 2-1 win for its last game of the regular season.

    Allie Fryer

    As a starting forward for the Cougars, Fryer led her team with nine goals and 63 shots on the season. This is her second year in a row with nine goals in a single season. She also added two assists and 1,220 minutes on the pitch this year. Fryer has earned back-to-back All-Big 12 awards, being named to the All-Big 12 Second Team last year.

    The following Cougars were All-Big 12 Second Team selections:

    Mackenzee Vance

    As a starting midfielder in her first season with the Cougars, Vance played 1,421 minutes on the pitch and tallied five goals, one assist and 36 shots. She is second in shots and goals for BYU just behind Fryer. After transferring to BYU from UCLA in the offseason, Vance has become a pinnacle midfielder for the Cougars, with quick transitions and two goals from free kicks outside the 18-yard box.

    Mika Krommenhoek

    As a true freshman, Krommenhoek earned All-Big 12 Second Team and All-Freshman Team honors. She started and played all 18 games this season for 1,459 minutes on the pitch in the center midfield position. She had her first-career goal against Oklahoma State and first career assists against Iowa State. She had three total assists and 28 shots on the year.

    The following Cougars were All-Big 12 All-Freshman Team selections:

    Lucy Kesler

    After graduating high school early to join BYU’s soccer team, the 17-year old Kesler became a staple center midfielder for the Cougars. She has played 16 games, starting in nine for a total of 1,095 minutes on the pitch. Kesler scored her first collegiate goal against Houston on BYU’s last home game of the season. She also added three assists and 17 shots to her stat sheet.

    Mika Krommenhoek

    Krommenhoek earned All-Big 12 Second Team and All-Freshman Team honors as a true freshman midfielder for the Cougars.

    Conemaugh Township 3, Windber 0: In Davidsville, Sarah Swank netted 15 kills and eight digs, and Ava Byer added 10 kills and eight digs as the second-seeded Indians defeated the sixth-seeded Ramblers 25-17, 25-20, 25-21.

    Conemaugh Township will advance to the District 5 Class 1A championship match against top-seeded Berlin Brothersvalley.

    Conemaugh Township’s Laikyn Reynolds had 10 kills, Brianna Shetler had 15 digs, Averie Seibert had 20 assists, and Mary Matera had nine assists.

    Windber’s Liliana Grillo had 11 points, two blocks, five kills and 17 assists. Maggie Manippo had nine points, five kills and 11 digs. Jordyn Bobak had five blocks and five kills, and Summer Campbell had seven points and three kills.

    The Ramblers’ Autumn Walz had eight points, three blocks, two kills and nine digs, and Skylee Miller had nine points and 12 digs.

    Berlin Brothersvalley 3, Meyersdale 0: In Berlin, the top-seeded Mountaineers won in three sets over the fifth-seeded Red Raiders 25-14, 25-12, 25-18.

    Lexi Fairman had 28 assists and three aces. Elena Ritchey had eight kills, Kaylee Shaffer had seven kills, and Sydney Walker had six kills. Cayley Poorbaugh and Addy Glessner combined for 27 digs.

    Berlin Brothersvalley will face Conemaugh Township in the District 5-1A championship match on Wednesday at Windber High School.

    Bishop Carroll Catholic 3, Juniata Valley 0: In Alexandria, the fifth-seeded Huskies swept the fourth-seeded Green Hornets.

    Olivia Gregg had 19 kills for Bishop Carroll Catholic. Greta Krumenacker had 34 assists, Sophie Becuet had nine digs and Sam Buynack had 11 digs.

    Ferndale 3, Conemaugh Valley 1: The third-seeded Yellow Jackets defeated the sixth-seeded Blue Jays 25-23, 25-23, 13-25, 26-24.

    Conemaugh Valley’s Olivia Vogel had 41 assists and 14 digs, and Kristin Szymusiak had 21 kills, 18 digs and 15 service points. Maddie McCleester had 34 digs, Sydney Heinlein had 10 digs, Makenna Campagna had 12 kills, and Jacey Crowe had 21 digs and 19 service points for the Blue Jays.

    Ferndale will advance to play Northern Cambria.

    Northern Cambria 3, Glendale 0: In Northern Cambria, Kiera Boring collected her 1,000th career assist, and Brenna McCracken had three aces, 11 service points, nine kills, one block and six digs as the second-seeded Colts beat the seventh-seeded Vikings 25-17, 25-17, 25-18.

    Emilee DePetro had five kills and five digs, and Riley Olish had seven kills and two blocks for Northern Cambria. Kiera Boring had an ace, 25 assists and 10 digs, and Ava Lieb had 10 kills and 11 digs for the Colts.

    Sophia Fry had 14 digs, nine service points and two aces, and Julie Dumm had four kills and one block.

    Northern Cambria will advance to play Ferndale.

    Conemaugh Township 2, Windber 0: In Davidsville, the second-seeded host Indians shut out the sixth-seeded Ramblers to reach the District 5-1A title game.

    Conemaugh Township will face top-seeded McConnellsburg at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Northern Bedford County High School.

    Izzy Slezak scored two goals for 16-3-1 Conemaugh Township. Ashlyn Fetterman provided two assists and tied the program’s career record for assists with 88 (Alyssa Hoffman, 2010 graduate).

    District 6 Tournament

    Class 2A Semifinals

    Cambria Heights 3, Juniata 0: In Patton, the second-seeded Highlanders shut out the sixth-seeded Indians to advance to the district title game for the first time in program history.

    Cambria Heights received goals by Brooklyn Galinis, Morgan Ross and Hannah Hite. Maria Wendekier made 12 saves in the shutout.

    The Highlanders advance to face Huntingdon, a 2-1 winner over Penns Valley.

    There were plenty of upsets and some thrilling finishes in Week 8 of the NFL season, including Jayden Daniels’ Hail Mary touchdown pass as time expired to give the Washington Commanders a win over the Chicago Bears.

    Here’s a look at the weekend in sports, with data from the BetMGM Sportsbook.

    Trends of the Week

    The three most bet teams in terms of money did not cover the spread in the NFL on Sunday. The Baltimore Ravens (-8.5) lost outright to the Cleveland Browns, the Green Bay Packers (-3.5) beat the Jacksonville Jaguars by only three points, and the Philadelphia Eagles blew out the Cincinnati Bengals (-2.5).

    The Commanders’ last-second 18-15 win impacted bettors because Chicago was about to win and cover after closing as a 1.5-point favorite. The Bears took in 53% of the money in against-the-spread bets, but Washington (+100) was a more popular pick for the moneyline, taking in 75% of the bets and 69% of the money. The Commanders were the most bet underdog to win on Sunday.

    In college football, Indiana (-5.5) was the most bet team to cover on Saturday, bringing in 83% of the bets. The Hoosiers had little trouble with Washington, winning 31-17 to move to 8-0 this year.

    The Los Angeles Dodgers are up 2-0 in the World Series against the New York Yankees. In Game 2, the Dodgers were -140 on the moneyline and took in only 29% of the bets and 39% of the money. In Game 1, the Dodgers were -125 on the moneyline and took in 38% of the bets and 44% of the money. Los Angeles is now -450 to win the World Series, while New York is +340.

    Upsets of the Week

    The Browns, who beat Baltimore 29-24, closed as 8.5-point underdogs, making them the third-biggest underdog in Week 8 NFL betting. In against-the-spread betting, 69% of the bets and 66% of the money was on the Ravens to cover the spread. Cleveland was +350 on the moneyline, so if a bettor bet $100, they would have won $350.

    The PGA Tour was in Japan over the weekend for the Zozo Championship, where Nico Echavarria won for the second time in his career. Entering the tournament, he had +20000 odds to win and took in only 0.2% of bets and 0.1% of the money.

    Coming up

    With the college football season in full swing, here’s a look at Heisman Trophy betting.

    Colorado’s Travis Hunter is the most popular pick among bettors. At +250, he is bringing in the most bets (16.8%) and the most money (31.1%). He’s seen his odds improve weekly — a week ago he was +1800.

    Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel has the shortest odds at +240, but he is bringing in only 4.5% of the bets and 6.4% of the money.

    PIQUA — The Piqua girls soccer team advanced in D-III sectional action Thursday at Wertz Stadium, with a 5-1 win over Bellefontaine.

    Piqua will play at Bellbrook at 7 p.m. Monday in a district semifinal.

    After Belefontaine took an early 1-0 lead, it took just 20 seconds for Kamryn Mikolajewski to answer with the tying goal for the Indians.

    Mikolajewski had a quick hat trick, scoring three goals in the first 20 minutes.

    Alexis Burroughs added a goal late in first half and Miranda Sweetman scored a second half goal for the final margin.

    Tippecanoe 9,

    Stivers 0

    TIPP CITY — It only took Tippecanoe girls soccer one half at Tipp City Park Thursday to advance in D-III sectional action.

    The Red Devills will play at Vandalia-Butler at 7 p.m. Monday in a district semifinal.

    Milton-Union 1,

    Northwestern 0

    SPRINGFIELD — The Milton-Union girls soccer team knocked off Northwestern in D-IV sectional action.

    Milton-Union will play at Miami East at 7 p.m. Monday in a district semifinal.

    Chloe Crabtree had the game’s only goal on an assist from Rayann Lowe.

    Kenzie Shortridge had the shutout in goal.

    Urbana 1 OT

    URBANA — The Miami East girls soccer team opened sectional play by winning a thriller.

    The Vikings will host Milton-Union in a district semifinal at 7 p.m. Monday.

    Katie Paulus and Karis Miller had the Viking goals.

    Bethel 6,

    Valley View 0

    BRANDT — The Bethel girls soccer team cruised to a win in its sectional opener Thursday.

    Bethel will play at Alter in a D-IV district semifinal Monday.

    Lehman Catholic 2,

    Preble Shawnee 0

    CAMDEN — The Lehman Catholic girls soccer team got a win on the road in its sectional tournament opener Thursday

    The Cavaliers will at Botkins in a D-V district semifinal at 7 p.m. Monday.

    Kaelynn Walker and Emi Wray scored the Lehman goals, while Melanie Karn dished out both assists.

    Callie Giguerre had five saves in goal.

    North Central 2, Pullman 1 (SO): Audrey Bartlett scored unassisted early in regulation and the visiting Wolfpack (6-6, 4-4) defeated the Greyhounds (8-3, 6-2) 4-1 in a shootout. Sidney Johnson tied the game in the 55th minute for the Greyhounds.

    Clarkston 4, Deer Park 3 (OT): Rebecca Skinner scored the winner in overtime, her fourth of the game, and the Bantams (8-4, 4-4) defeated the visiting Stags (6-5, 3-5). Rylee Pfeifer scored three goals for Deer Park.

    Riverside 1, Colville 0: Layla Baker scored the go-ahead goal in the 57th minute and the Rams (4-5, 2-1) defeated the visiting Crimson Hawks (3-7, 0-3). Amelia Carroll made six saves for the clean sheet.

    In this latest edition of a local and Commonwealth District football rivalry between two heated competitors, Colonial Forge avenged a home loss last year to Mountain View, beating the Wildcats on their turf, 23-13, on Thursday night.

    Running back Josiah Bryson ran for two touchdowns for the Eagle (6-1, 2-1) in the win, both coming in the first half. Colonial Forge punter Sean Hill pulled some trickery out of the bag for the Eagles’ third touchdown of the night, a 41-yard fake punt touchdown on a play not designed to be a fake punt.

    Mountain View (3-3, 1-2) scored both of its touchdowns in the second half, a six-yard scoring reception by Tyler Tanks and a lengthy kickoff return touchdown from Torie Martin, coming off the ensuing kickoff following Hill’s fake punt TD.

    North Stafford 8. Massaponax 1: Madison Gagnon led the Wolverines with four goals and three assists to help secure the Commonwealth District road victory over the Panthers.

    Haley Walsh added three goals and two assists, Samantha Middleton contributed two goals and two assists, and Maggie Webb had one goal in the win for North Stafford (12-2, 8-2) who will host Mountain View on Tuesday.

    Hayden Gayle had the lone goal for Massaponax.

    Spotsylvania 5, Eastern View 0: Emily Dickinson and Lexi Persinger led the Knights with one goal and one assist each in the Battlefield District win over the visiting Cyclones.

    Kenley Curtis, Josie Ayo, and Shelby Coomer each added one goal for Spotsylvania who will travel to Eastern View on Monday.

    VOLLEYBALL

    Courtland 3, Chancellor 0: Sophia Morin led the Cougars with 12 kills and four aces in the Battlefield District road victory 25-12, 25-17, 25-10 over the Chargers.

    Allison Meyer added eight kills and Aubrey Parker had 20 assists fpr Courtland (13-2, 8-0) who will host Massaponax on Monday for DigPink night.

    King George 3, Caroline 0: Brooke Heim led the Foxes with six blocks and five kills to help earn the district win 25-15, 25-12, 25-12 over the visiting Cavaliers.

    Jocelyn Tempalski and Mia Cintron each added six kills, Karlynn Webster had five kills, Selena Buckwalter contributed 17 digs and Neenah Clark had 11 digs for King George.

    North Stafford 3, Massaponax 1: Lindsay Canty led the Wolverines with 20 kills and seven digs securing the road victory 25-20, 25-23, 13-25, 25-21 over the Panthers.

    Nia Adams added 18 digs and 15 assists and Allison Spital contributed 20 digs and 3 aces for North Stafford who will host Battlefield in a non-district matchup on Monday.

    Brenna Raymond led with 29 digs for the Panthers in the loss, Kelsey Bowler had 13 digs and 10 kills, Felicity Yonts contributed eight kills and Cameron Cox earned 14 digs.

    Addy Higgins and Leni Furrow both had 16 assists each for Massaponax (15-5, 6-3) who will travel to Courtland on Monday.

    Fredericksburg Christian 3, Trinity Christian 0: Chloe Borisuk led the Eagles on the road with 26 assists on the road victory over Trinity Christian.

    Abby Rexrode added nine kills and Kambri Carnahan had eight kills in the win.

    Virginia Academy 5, Fredericksburg Christian 2: Ethan Ognek led the Eagles scoring both goals unassisted in the road loss on Thursday, one goal in each half.

    Colonial Forge 3, Brooke Point 0: Kadie Cardozo led the Eagles on Senior night with 14 digs to help secure the district victory 25-17, 25-12, 25-9 over the Black-Hawks.

    Emma Sofis added five blocks and Carly Ford contributed 17 assists for Colonial Forge (10-3, 8-2) who will host North Stafford on Thursday.

    MURRAY—  Murray High concluded a superb boys soccer regular season Thursday night with 7-1 victory over Paducah Tilghman at the Mallary France Soccer Complex.

    That win gives the Tigers a 19-1 mark so far this season as postseason play arrives next week. The Blue Tornado, much improved this season evens its mark at 6-6-1.

    Chancellor 10, Eastern View 0: Hailey Waurio banged home a cross from Ellen Gallagher 14 seconds into the game to set the pace for the Chargers against the visiting Cyclones.

    Chancellor got goals from six different players as they improved to 9-0 in the Battlefield District and 9-1 overall. Eastern View dropped to 2-5 in the District and 3-5 overall.

    Adelyn Watkins led the way for the Chargers with three goals and three assists. Sofia Vivas and Ava Cook each contributed two goals while Maddie Anderson and Makayla Forrester also scored. Gallagher had three assists and Waurio, Anderson, and Forrester each had one assist.

    Chancellor travels to James Monroe on Tuesday and Eastern View travels to Fauquier on Monday.

    BOYS’ SOCCER

    Seton 6, Fredericksburg Christian 3: Wyatt Dale led the Eagles with two goals in the home victory. Ethan Ognek added one goal and assist.
