Maroons alumni sign with Squires
Two former Chatham Maroons forwards – Muirkirk’s Steven Beenackers and Ridgetown’s Nolan VandenBoorn – have signed with the Petrolia Squires of the Ontario Super Hockey League.
Beenackers, 28, was a Maroons captain and had 205 points in 223 games during five seasons in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League. He played four seasons with the Maroons and one with the Lambton Shores Predators.
VandenBoorn, 27, played one-and-a-half seasons with the Maroons and three-and-a-half seasons in the PJHL with Blenheim and Dresden. He was the PJHL Stobbs Division most valuable player and scoring champion with the Kings in 2018-19.
The Squires have also re-signed two ex-Maroons, forward Adam Arseneault and defenceman Ryan Fraser.

Bluebirds add four new players
The Tilbury Bluebirds have signed four new players for the coming Ontario Super Hockey League season.
Forward Jason Daraiche, 21, is a Leamington native who played for his hometown Flyers. Defenceman Mason Gow, 24, also hails from Leamington and played for the Wheatley Sharks.
Defenceman Ryan Barwitzki, 23, of Sarnia played for the Sarnia Legionnaires and LaSalle Vipers.
Defenceman Aaron Moore, 28, of Belle River played for the Lakeshore Canadiens and Amherstburg Admirals.
The Bluebirds will play their season opener Friday, Oct. 4, at the Elora Rocks. Their home opener is Saturday, Oct. 5, versus the Tillsonburg Thunder.
Three weeks of Friday night lights have come and gone, and the Summerville Bears and Sonora Wildcats, both still undefeated, are set to kick off their respective league campaigns this week.
What better time, then, to take a stab at a few informed guesses as to each team’s performance throughout the rest of the season, including league and postseason play?
These predictions are based on a combination of each team’s body of work thus far this season and what I have seen on the ground, covering both teams throughout their first three contests.
Summerville may not win league, but they will run away with D-VII section football title
For the first time in a decade, the Mother Lode League title is anyone’s for the taking, and no one wants it more than the Summerville Bears, who have finished as the league runner-up in both of the last two seasons to Sonora.
But the league title might not be quite as wide open as some fans believe. The Calaveras Red Hawks and, more notably, the Linden Lions, pose a very real challenge to the Bears’ hopes of being crowned the MLL champs.
This writer projects that Summerville will take down Calaveras in Week 7 somewhat handily. Linden on the other hand, the Bears’ Week 11 foe, will be a load.
Outside of the Hilmar Yellowjackets, whom the Bears scheduled to replace their canceled game against Millennium in Week 9, Linden is the only team Summerville will face that throws the ball more than it runs.
Despite having plenty of talent in the secondary, an efficient, pass-heavy offense is simply not something the Bears come up against often, and without experience comes costly mistakes. I anticipate that Summerville will fall just short of Linden in a shootout in their final league contest.
But while the path to a league title will be a difficult one, the outlook for Bears fans ought to be considerably more cheery as they look forward towards the postseason.
Summerville sits firmly in the No. 1 spot in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division VII rankings in MaxPreps, and is the only undefeated team left in the division.
The Waterford Wildcats, whom the Bears thumped 46-12 in Week 3, come in at No. 4. Denair, a team Summerville blanked 38-0 in Week 2, comes in at the No. 9 spot.
The only team anywhere close to within striking distance of Summerville in the entire division is the Stone Ridge Christian Knights, who boast a 2-1 record but were defeated soundly by Calaveras, 27-7 in their opener.
SRC defeated Summerville 34-26 in a preseason classic in Tuolumne back in 2022, the same year the Bears came within 1 point of winning an elusive blue banner emblazoned with the words “Sac-Joaquin Section Champion. “
If there was ever a year to expect the Bears to go back and seal the deal, this is the one.
Bears’ potent offense will average 42 points per game in league
The Summerville Bears have been quite efficient on the offensive side of the ball through their first three contests, putting up 24, 38 and 46 points, in wins over Ripon Christian, Denair and Waterford, respectively.
That build in offensive momentum is sure to continue into the MLL season, with only two teams, Calaveras and Linden, capable of slowing the Bears down.
Bret Harte, Riverbank, River Islands and Big Valley Christian all project to be massive blowouts in Summerville’s favor, which should buoy their scoring average even if it dips in their more competitive matchups against the Red Hawks and Lions.
Moreover, the Bears’ offense hasn’t been some boom-or-bust affair. Built on an established run game from running back Isaac Biggs and a gifted cadre of slot backs, including Colton Cash and Orlando Lopez, the Summerville offense is consistent and repeatable, week-to-week.
With junior quarterback Bryce Leveroos just getting better and better, this year’s Bears offense will be something to behold.
Week 5, Sept. 20: Summerville 49, Bret Harte 0
Week 6, Sept. 27: Summerville 42, Riverbank 12
Week 7, Oct. 4: Summerville 35, Calaveras 22
Week 8, Oct. 11: Summerville 42, River Islands 7
Week 9, Oct. 18: Hilmar 24, Summerville 21
Week 10, Oct. 25: Summerville 56, Big Valley Christian 14
Week 11, Nov. 1: Linden 35, Summerville 29
Sonora will shock the TVL, dethroning Hughson and Escalon to win league title
Quite a bit has to go right for this prediction to come true, but this writer believes a Trans Valley League title is in the cards for Sonora.
Since the early goings of the Sac-Joaquin Section realignment cycle, much has been made of the Wildcats’ jump into the ranks of the vaunted TVL. They will make their long-awaited league debut this Friday against the Escalon Cougars — the team that defeated them 35-34 in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division V title game two years ago.
“In our league, you could call everybody a rival,” Sonora football head coach Kirk Clifton said. “I look at our league, our track record and what is going on in the preseason, and I think it is everything that everybody has built it up to be.”
One loss in this stacked league could cost any team their shot at the TVL title. The Wildcats are particularly aware of that this week, facing off against Escalon.
“They are a very well-coached team,” Clifton said. “They are the benchmark of the league. I don’t necessarily think anybody has to get excited to play them. I think if you are not excited to play them, then you have got something wrong with you.”
If Sonora can take down Escalon this week, their eyes will turn towards an even tougher challenge — a Week 8 matchup with the Hughson Huskies.
Hughson is coming off of a 40-39 Sac-Joaquin Section Division VI title win last year over the Bradshaw Christian Pride — the team that knocked Sonora out of the playoffs.
University of Arizona commit Robert McDaniel is back in the gun again this season for Hughson and is flanked by a stable of dangerous targets including Malakai Sumter and McDaniel’s younger brother, Bryce.
Sonora’s play against Antelope in a Week 3 rout of the Titans, 55-6, was an encouraging sign of the Wildcats’ developing ability to defend against the pass.
Secondary players like Cash Byington, Jon Curran and Colton Gibson will be tested by the size and speed of Hughson receivers, and the Wildcats’ defensive front including ends Wyatt Ling and Caden Burd will have to pressure McDaniel and make his life difficult in the pocket.
Look out for an upset in Week 8. If Sonora can pull it off, their first season in the TVL might just end in a TVL title.
Sutton will rush for 1,000 yards in first varsity season
It didn’t take much time at all for junior fullback Tommy Sutton to make his presence known on the football field this season.
One of his very first varsity carries was a big one — busting out into the open field through a gap in the offensive line and rumbling 64 yards early in the Wildcats’ 31-21 win over Oakdale in their season opener.
He finished with 106 yards on 12 carries that game, and his workload in the two following games has shown that his production was not a fluke. Through Sonora’s pre-league campaign, Sutton has logged 33 carries for 242 yards through three games.
Running through gaps created by a stellar Wildcats offensive line, Sutton has been Sonora’s dependable workhorse at fullback.
Heading into a league schedule that will require four quarters of solid football from the Wildcats, the starters — Sutton included — will be on the field for more snaps than they have in a decade of Sonora football.
With that steady dose of carries forthcoming, the junior has a very real chance of eclipsing the elusive 1,000-yard mark this season.
Throughout his freshman season at Williamsport, Brayden Ungard played center-back defender, spending his time on the field 100 yards away from the opposing goal while doing what he could to protect their own.
Cut to less than a year later, and he currently leads the team in goals.
It isn’t a secret that a switch from one position to an entirely different one would be a difficult adjustment, in any sport really. Going from working to prevent goals to becoming one of the team’s most relied upon scoring sources requires a complete shift in mentality and hard work to establish it.
But Ungard hasn’t let those struggles be known. Through his first seven games, he’s blossomed as a striker, scoring nine goals and posting a hat trick in just his seventh start.
“He is an athlete,” emphasized Williamsport coach Brett Hofstrom on Ungard following the team’s win on Tuesday.
“Through his club, he has played some midfield so he’s shown that he can play it. As long as he continues to grow and make the right IQ plays, he’s going to be one heck of a striker to stop.”
His flourishing at the position couldn’t have come at a better time for Williamsport.
Off the heels of a trip to the District 2-4 Class AAAA semifinals, the team had to deal with the departure of Sun-Gazette Player of the Year Connor Poole, who led the team last season with 16 goals. On top of that, Angelo Casas, Quinten Mazzante and Calder Diakite also graduated, a trio which combined for nine.
In all, the Millionaires lost players that contributed 26 of their 34 goals through last season. For them to have success in 2024, those on the current roster would have to step up and the coaching staff would have to effectively fill those voids.
And though they’ve experienced their fair share of growing pains, they’ve checked both those boxes, with Ungard’s move to striker serving as catalyst to their recent success. After scoring four goals through the team’s first five games, the sophomore has erupted in the past two.
Against Central Mountain (3-4-1), he rattled off two second-half goals to help Williamsport rally from a late 2-1 deficit, playing a key role in the team starting HAC-I play undefeated. Then, five days later, he recorded the first hat trick of his career against Shikellamy (5-4), scoring all three of his goals amidst the first half of Williamsport’s 5-0 victory.
In that win over the Braves, Ungard was decisively aggressive, recognizing when he had a clear shot and delivering with poise and accuracy. He had a chance at a fourth goal before the half ended as well, firing a shot on goal towards the right side of the net that was just thwarted by the fingertips of Shikellamy goalkeeper Nathaniel Allar.
After a brief adjustment period that saw him still consistently produce goals, he’s shown clear improvements and confidence in making the right decisions on the field. As Hofstrom mentioned, more development could spell trouble for other area teams.
“I’m just learning as I go and doing my best,” said Ungard. “It’s really just decision making that’s the hardest part. Just knowing when to pass the ball, knowing when to shoot and just making sure I get the ball to everybody else.”
“He’s getting better and better with his decision-making skills,” said Hofstrom. “That’s one thing he’ll learn.”
Alongside him, his midfield has done an excellent job of getting him the ball in a great spot to score, with each of his three goals against Shikellamy being accompanied by an assist. Dumfer Adjei-Frimpong split two defenders with a pass to lead to his first goal and Spencer Kaar and Parker Johnson dropping in deep passes to set him up for his last two.
“I’m always grateful for the movement of the ball through the midfield. Sometimes it’s not there but today, we did great,” said Ungard. “For it to get to me, it has to go through ten people so I’m very grateful for all my midfielders working hard to get me the ball.”
“Some of those guys have been playing together for years, especially Connor (Hofstrom), Brayden and Spencer Kaar, so they all know what each other’s going to do and it’s good to have that on your team,” said Hofstrom.
It’s been a recipe for success as of late, but Ungard and the team aren’t satisfied with just picking up a few wins. The hope is to carry this momentum forward into a successful season.

CHEBOYGAN DEFENSE:Cheboygan’s defense shakes off ugly opening half, leads charge in comeback win at home
CHEBOYGAN (2-1)
Last Week: Early in the third quarter, hope looked lost for the Chiefs, who trailed 23-0 to Elk Rapids.
But something crazy happened as Cheboygan found its running game, saw its defense step up, and turned it around quickly. As a result, the Chiefs delivered one of the greatest come-from-behind wins in program history by scoring 30 unanswered points and beating the Elks.
What a night it was for a Cheboygan team that’s starting to show mental toughness under head coach Bill Nesbitt.
Offensive skill players like Sean Postula, Nolan Schley, Evan Benson and Luke Hoskins all played their roles, while a Cheboygan defense led by Luke Munger, Chauncey Lovelly, Eli Chase and Jeremiah Huntley rose to the occasion.
It was a momentum-boosting night for the Chiefs, who are off to their best start in 11 years.
Week 4: Cheboygan’s next challenge is Kalkaska – and a first half like last Friday absolutely can’t happen.
As thrilling as last week’s comeback was, the first half was dreadful for the Chiefs, who turned the ball over four times and struggled defensively.
Like Elk Rapids, the Blazers won’t be a gimme for Cheboygan. The Chiefs need to come out much stronger and aggressive on the road to move to 3-1.
INLAND LAKES (3-0)
Last Week: Two weeks off? No problem for the Bulldogs, who unleashed on Central Lake with a 62-6 road victory.
Aidan Fenstermaker and Andre Bradford were their normal play-making selves, but Inland Lakes also saw its defense shut down the Trojans. Even after not playing in Week 2, the Bulldogs showed just how powerful they are in the Ski Valley, and that it’s going to take some performance from one of their rivals to pull an upset.
Week 4: This is the big one as far as regular season games go. The Bulldogs welcome in fellow 8-player powerhouse Bridgman (1-2), who’s already faced some of the toughest competition in the state.
This will be a great chance to see if Inland Lakes perhaps looks like a state title-caliber team again near the midway point of the season. Either way, this is as great of a matchup as we’ll see all season.

Pellston (1-2)
Last Week: Talk about a tough defeat to swallow, the Hornets endured it last week when they blew a 26-8 lead and lost at unbeaten Bellaire, 30-26.
The Hornets received another sensational performance from senior Brach Taylor, but they couldn’t hold on to beat the Eagles, who appear to be for real. A tough one to take for an improving Pellston team.
Week 4: It’s Homecoming Week in Pellston as the Hornets face Central Lake in a Ski Valley battle.
The Hornets have struggled against the Trojans in recent years, but with Central Lake having issues, this could be an excellent chance for Pellston to move to .500.
ONAWAY
Last Week: The Cardinals earned victory No. 1 by going to Engadine and delivering a solid performance, led by quarterback Brady Gapczynski, who nearly rushed for 200 yards.
Onaway was strong on both sides of the ball, which resulted in the program recording its first win in the Micah Bailey coaching era. Let’s see if they’ll continue to build off it.
Week 4: No game. Forest Area doesn’t have a team.
Cheboygan-area football Week 4 games
Cheboygan (2-1) at Kalkaska (1-2), Friday, 7 p.m.
Central Lake (0-3) at Pellston (1-2), Friday, 7 p.m.
Bridgman (1-2) at Inland Lakes (3-0), Saturday, 1 p.m.
This article contains mild spoilers for season four of Emily In Paris.
In the fourth season of Emily In Paris, our beloved fish-out-of-water, Emily Cooper (Lily Collins), broke format when she hopped a plane for Rome. Though she was ostensibly there to work and open a new office for Agence Grateau, she had no trouble fitting in some play and a little bit of romance, as well.
It was a refreshing shift from the usual Parisian drama we’ve become accustomed to (and fallen in love with) in Emily In Paris, and we certainly didn’t mind being introduced to her new love interest, Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini). But as the season came to an end, and we re-engaged our brain from its lovely little stupor, we immediately went hunting to see whether it has been renewed for a new season.
And blessedly, it has! Lily Collins announced on Monday that Emily In Paris will be returning to Netflix for a fifth season. In the days since, we’ve learned a little bit more about whether it will be based in Paris or not.
“We’re thrilled with the incredible response to this season of Emily in Paris and excited to return for a fifth to continue Emily’s adventures in Rome and Paris!” creator Darren Star tells Tudum (a publication run by Netflix). He elaborated, saying that Emily will definitely have a presence in Rome this season, but that doesn’t mean she won’t be returning to her life in Paris, as well.
Appearing on Good Morning America for the announcement, Collins explained her hopes for Emily in the new season. “Marcello is a whole other adventure that we want for Emily because we ultimately want Emily to be able to have a better work/life balance,” she says. “We want to have Emily be able to smile without condition. We want to see her beyond her vacay mode. And he comes at that perfect time.”
It’s a relief but not a surprise that the show is returning for another season, given its success. According to Tudum, Emily in Paris ranked #1 on the Netflix Global Top 10 when it premiered in August, and had 19.9 million views in its first four days. That was enough to secure the Top 10 in 93 countries, where it has remained ever since.
Season four was a welcomed change from previous seasons, and honestly, it was one that we didn’t even realise we needed until the first episodes aired in August and we found ourselves rooting against Gabriel. In Marcello, we watched a charming romance unfold, and that’s one of the big reasons we tuned in.
“I feel like they have a real spark and a real connection and a real romantic connection,” agrees Collins. “A lot of that’s going to continue to play out next season.”
A premiere date and cast list is still to be confirmed, but we’ll update you as we learn more about Emily In Paris season five.
Season 4 cast member Monica Garcia brought a new round of controversy. Revelations about Monica and her involvement with RealityVonTease, an Instagram account known for trashing the RHOSLC cast, left viewers and fellow cast members speechless. Monica will not return for Season 5 of RHOSLC, but her influence will likely remain strong.
The new season of RHOSLC will feature Lisa Barlow, Heather Gay, Meredith Marks, and Whitney Rose—all Housewives who’ve remained on the show since the beginning. Mary Cosby from the first two seasons is also returning to the main cast, as is Season 4 veteran Angie Katsanevas. Bronwyn Newport is the lone new face in RHOSLC Season 5.
7 Lisa Barlow
Via Instagram
A native of New York, Lisa Barlow converted to Mormonism as a child with her family. After attending Brigham Young University, Lisa now runs her marketing company, LUXE, while she and her husband, John, founded VIDA tequila. The mother of two also has a business with her sons, Jack and Henry.
Barlow describes herself as “Mormon 2.0” and, in 2020, she explained to Andy Cohen that it involved aspects of orthodox Mormonism mixed with her lifestyle, especially her connection to alcohol. Lisa’s castmates have scrutinized her beliefs, notably when Lisa’s son, Jack, focused more on traditional tenets of the Mormon faith.
Lisa and fellow housewife Heather Gay met at BYU and her close friendship with Meredith Marks has been a focal point of the show. During Season 4, Lisa was at odds with Monica Garcia when the revelations about Monica’s connection to the RealityVonTease Instagram account came to light.
6 Heather Gay
via Bravo TV
Heather Gay co-owns Beauty Lab + Laser in Utah while raising her three daughters and navigating life as a divorcee in the Mormon church. Heather published a New York Times bestselling memoir called Bad Mormon in 2023, the success of which was a large focal point for the housewife and her family during Season 4 of RHOSLC.
“It’s disappointing [and] sad to know that body positivity was all a big lie… because it’s better to not be overweight.”
5 Meredith Marks
Via: Instagram/@meredithmarks
Chicago native Meredith Marks is a jewelry designer with a brand of luxury items, including caviar. In addition to her entrepreneurship, Meredith dedicates herself to numerous charitable causes.
After Meredith and her husband, Seth, experienced difficulty in their marriage during Season 1 of RHOSLC, the couple reconciled and maintained a strong relationship throughout the show. Often at odds with Lisa Barlow and Whitney Rose, Meredith has been accused of gossiping about her fellow cast members on numerous occasions.
Meredith talked about her “weird” medical condition on Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea podcast in early September 2024 to explain that she had a third breast-reduction surgery. She previewed that the subject would be part of the first episode of RHOSLC Season 5, noting that her castmates got a good chuckle over the fact that Meredith’s breasts continue to grow.
4 Whitney Rose
via: Bravo
Whitney Rose, who’s cousins with co-star Heather Gay, left Mormonism after an extramarital affair with her boss, Justin, and an unexpected pregnancy ended her first marriage. Now married, Whitney and Justin have two children, Bobbi and Brooks.
Whitney has a line of skincare products called Iris and Beau, assists her father as he navigates health issues, and launched a jewelry line during Season 4. In addition to tension with her cousin, Heather, Whitney has also struggled to maintain a friendship with Meredith.
3 Mary Cosby
Via Bravo
RHOSLC alum Mary Cosby returns to Season 5 as a full-time cast member. Mary’s initial exit from the show may have been related to her marriage to Robert Cosby Sr., her step-grandfather. Mary and Robert Sr. have a son, Robert Jr., whose new wife reportedly moved in with the family at some point during or after Season 4.
Mary’s return will likely reveal the cause of her broken friendship with Meredith Marks. Meredith told Extra in anticipation of Season 5 that she doesn’t “understand” what caused the feud between her and Mary:
“I don’t really know what the problem is there, which is a bit unsettling to me, because, usually when there’s a problem, I like to understand what it is… And usually when someone starts coming at me, there should be a reason for it, especially when I’ve been there for them for years when nobody else would be.”
2 Angie Katsanevas
Via Instagram
Promoted from “friend of” to main cast member between Seasons 3 and 4, Angie Katsanevas and her husband, hairdresser Shawn Trujillo, run Lunatic Fringe Salons in Utha, Ohio, and Idaho. Angie and Shawn share one daughter, Elektra, who excels as an equestrian.
Angie and Shawn’s marriage is often talked about, with rumors circulating about the couple’s stability. During Season 4, revelations that the couple had not been on a date in years prompted speculation that their relationship was in trouble. Angie insists that she and Shawn spend their time focusing on Elektra. Angie said at the Season 4 reunion, “This never came up ’til this rat came out of the sewer.”
The “rat” in question was Monica Garcia.
1 Bronwyn Newport
via: Bravo
Newcomer Bronwyn Newport was enlisted to the RHOSLC by veteran cast member Lisa Barlow. After Bronwyn got pregnant as a student at BYU, she was excommunicated by the Mormon church. She raised her daughter, Gwen, on her own until meeting Todd, her current husband.
Bronwyn’s website describes her as a “successful Broadway producer and influential fashion blogger.” As a socialite known for her taste and style, Bronwyn also participates in charitable activities and serves on multiple boards in Salt Lake City.
In addition to the main cast, RHOSLC will include friends Meili Workman, a model and mother of four, and Britani Bateman, a Utah native who works in real estate.
Season 5 of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City will premiere at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Wednesday, Sept. 18 on Bravo. Episodes stream the following day on Peacock.
The NFL is back, and injuries are a common occurrence, so it’s important to pay close attention to whether it’s a good time to use reserves in Fantasy Football. It is estimated that for week two, around 329 players are injured and likely to be unavailable.
Most of these players were already dealing with injuries before the start of the season, but that doesn’t change the fact that teams will need to find options within their rosters to cover significant losses.
The Browns and the Panthers are the most affected teams, with 17 potential absences for week 2 of the NFL.
One case that has the Baltimore Ravens concerned is Lamar Jackson, who is doubtful after finishing the game against the Chiefs with an injury. Reports indicate that he participated in practice on Wednesday, so it is highly likely that he will be able to play against the Raiders.
For the first game of week 2 between the Buffalo Bills and the Miami Dolphins, there are some absences. For Buffalo, Taron Johnson, Dawuane Smoot, and Javon Solomon will not see action. For Miami, the injured players are De’Von Achane, Raheem Mostert, and Malik Washington.
Probably the most anticipated game of the week is the Cincinnati Bengals versus the Kansas City Chiefs. For Cincinnati’s rematch from Super Bowl LVII, they have 11 players with a high probability of not seeing action, including Tee Higgins.

This year is bringing the heat. With many teams completely revamping their rosters and many aiming to become the best, the 2024 season of college football has managed to put multiple coaches on the hot seat. With the universities and the fans sweating hard for all the different reasons. This year we will see some names getting washed away from the scene because the invincible scales of the athletic budget have to be maintained. The 2023 season saw 5 different coaches being removed from their teams for various reasons. Lord knows how many it will be this year.
However, if you ask us, we do have some names in mind. Starting on top would be Gators HC Billy Napier. His hot seat is already heating up, with firing rumors spreading like wildfire online. With amazing financial backing, tradition, and recruitment which has given rise to 3 Heisman winners, it’s sad to see the mess Napier has turned the 3x National Champions into. With players missing out because of injuries to solid stars getting benched and freshmen being allowed to play, Napier is actively digging his own grave. The 2024 schedule for Gators was rough and if Napier had any chance of surviving against teams like Bulldogs or Longhorns, he would need key players like Cormani McClain, DJ Lagway, and Kahlil Jackson on the turf. But here we are with a sub-par roster and a freshman QB Graham Mertz leading the charge.
Following him close would be a surprise pick; Ryan Day from the Buckeyes. Using a $10 million NIL budget to formulate the top class for 2024, Day has got the ‘go big or go broke’ roster this year. While their Week 1 run has been solid with 2 massive back-to-back wins, the main concern right now is Buckeyes fans want the national championship. If Day fails to deliver, then it’s bye-bye’ for him.

Next would be Clark Lea from the Commodores. Let’s be honest, this ain’t the conference for this roster. The 2023 season saw the team losing 10 games. However, this time around, they did manage to grab a season opener win against Alcorn State. Now for the big “But”. Check the schedule, they going against giants like Alabama, Texas, and Missouri. No matter how much the Commodores fans want to cherish some wins, it probably ain’t happening this year as well.
Which college football coach is most likely to lose their job this season?
It’s time for the Trojans now. Lincoln Riley was branded as having the “worst coaching job” during the 2o23 season by Paul Finebaum. However, Riley sure has managed to turn things around. The 2024 season has started on a different note, with the Trojans grabbing back-to-back wins in Week 1. We saw how good the entire defense has been and their QB Miller Moss has finally stepped up. Looks like the entire Caleb Williams era is going to be recreated, but still, this is all wishful thinking. Riley still has to do a better job than the 2023 season and probably has to cultivate another Heisman contender or his coaching job could be at risk.
Finally, it’s the Bears. The last time Baylor truly showed some promise was during the 2022 Sugar Bowl win. After that, it was all downhill. So, naturally, Dave Aranda decided to revamp the team by switching up the offense and defense. With Jake Spavital onboard, the team did look like it was in a good spot. However, their 2024 season run begs to differ. The Bears did start strong with a 45-3 win over Tarleton St. However, the momentum was lost against Utah but then it was back up again during the Air Force game. From what we saw, the team is all over the place and them serving this schedule and making it to the playoffs feels like a distant dream. Well, at least they are doing better than what they did back in 2023.

While we did talk about coaches losing their jobs, we also gotta keep in mind the money that is at stake. So, let’s reverse our gears and look at the contracts that each of these coaches is currently enjoying.
College football coaching contracts
Starting with our top contender in terms of getting fired; Billy Napier. Napier currently enjoys a 7-year-long contract which stands at a massive $51.8 million. The contract is valid till 2028 and if he is fired before the contract ends, then UF is going to have to hand him 85% of the total promised amount, yikes. Ryan Day is next on the list with a 5-year contract length that pays out $47.5 million. Also fun fact, Day enjoys something known as a ‘retention bonus’ (around $250,000) if he manages to stay the HC of the Buckeyes after Jan. 31, 2024.

Clark Lea is getting paid a modest $3 million per year. The contract is going to last till 2029 but we don’t know if Lea is going to last as the HC for that long. Now, Lincoln Riley. He is playing in the big league people. $110 million for 10 years is what Riley’s contract looks like. No wonder he is one of the highest-paid CFB coaches out there.
Finally, for Dave Aranda, we don’t have that much information. Baylor is a private school so the records are not available publicly. However, Aranda did get a payout of $3.8 million back in 2023, so that is a good sum to go off of. So, let us know who you think would be kicking the dirt this time around.
Drama is already brewing on the upcoming season of Married At First Sight, as one couple has been spotted storming out of their apartment at One Global Resorts in Sydney.
Awhina Rutene and Adrian Araouzou, who are tipped to be next year’s fan favourites, were spotted leaving with a suitcase in tow, holding hands before getting into an Uber together on Sunday.
Mother-of-one Awhina, known for her chaotic and unpredictable personality, has already garnered attention both on and off camera.
An insider from the production has told Daily Mail Australia ‘Awhina’s been stirring the pot since day one. She’s a rule breaker and not afraid to shake things up.
‘It’s no surprise she’s been spotted with other brides during filming breaks – she’s always been a bit of a wild card.’
Adrian, 31, who runs viral dessert Instagram SweetSundayz, is bringing his own brand of drama to the show.
Described as outspoken but reasonable, he’s not one to shy away from confrontation but prefers to hear all sides before forming an opinion.
A source close to the production shared, ‘Awhina has been a calming influence on Adrian, but even she has her limits. They had a massive row just before this incident, and it seems like it came to a head over the weekend.’

Meanwhile, another insider hinted at what’s been going on behind closed doors.
‘There’s been tension building for a while. Adrian’s been struggling to keep up with Awhina’s high-energy and spontaneous behaviour,’ they said.
‘This isn’t the first time they’ve clashed with production and have been probably the two that have been scolded by producers the most.’
Despite the outward appearance of unity, with the pair holding hands as they left, sources say there’s more to the story.
A source close to the production said that ‘Awhina has been a calming influence on Adrian, but even she has her limits. They had a massive row just before this incident, and it seems like it came to a head over the weekend’
‘They’ve had their fair share of ups and downs. Adrian’s trying to stay level-headed, but Awhina’s not one to back down from a fight. It’s definitely putting a strain on their relationship,’ added the source.
‘They’re both strong personalities, and that makes for great TV. But it also means they’re going to butt heads – a lot,’ the insider teased.
It’s unclear if the couple have quit the show.

‘Kicked off the show’
The sighting comes days after the upcoming series’ oldest bride Morena Farina was also spotted with her suitcases waiting to be picked up.
The 57-year-old mother-of-two was spotted waiting to be picked up, sitting on a bench just metres away from photographers, leaving on-lookers stunned.
Daily Mail Australia can reveal that while producers typically go to great lengths to avoid spoilers, Morena’s exit seemed anything but discreet.
The 57-year-old mother-of-two was spotted waiting to be picked up, sitting on a bench just metres away from photographers, leaving on-lookers stunned
‘Usually when a couple or cast member leaves the show, they have to film a whole exit sequence in the underground car park and leave in private,’ the photographer explained.
‘They do this to avoid anyone taking any spoiler pictures of them leaving with their suitcases, as these pictures prove the couples split up – but this was so weird.’
Morena’s exit has been described as unprecedented, as if she had been abruptly ejected from the show.
The photographer added, ‘It’s like she was just kicked off the show, evicted from the building, and no one wanted anything to do with her anymore.
Producers didn’t even order her a car to take her to the airport or try to hide her from us [the press].’
In a move that has left fans questioning what happened behind the scenes, it appears Morena was left to fend for herself, a stark contrast to the usual secrecy and care shown by the production team when dealing with departing cast members.
Sources close to the production have hinted at possible friction between Morena and the crew, with locals suggesting that she was ‘rude’ to both production staff and local café workers.
However, friends of the bride have vehemently denied these claims, insisting there was a misunderstanding.
