Watch: Story Of Elderly Couple Selling Snacks At Thane Station Wins Hearts Online

An Instagram reel featuring an elderly couple who frequents Thane railway station (near Mumbai) is winning many hearts online. The video, which has since gone viral with millions of views, was shared by digital creator Siddhesh Lokare. In the video, the vlogger explains that someone sent him a photo of the couple – Bhimrao and Shobha – at Thane station a few days earlier. He later managed to track them down and interview them. He first asks them when they got married and the man states the exact date. The woman points out that they have been together for over four decades. Next, the vlogger asks them how often they come to the railway station. The woman replies that they come every day and they also go to deliver the snacks/sweets if someone has placed an order. We get a glimpse at some of their wares, which include treats like chakli, kachori, bhakarwadi, etc.

In response to a question, Bhimrao also reveals that he lost his vision when he was two. The vlogger highlights that Shobha knew she was getting married to someone without sight. He asks her about the same and she smilingly declares that she still married him. She said that they always imagine themselves in each other’s shoes. Her husband says, “I am visually impaired. She has a deformed hand. We thought we’d complete each other.” She adds, “We’ll stay together… for life.”

The vlogger asks the man how his wife helps him. He explains that she cooks food and serves water, etc. He also helps her out by chopping the vegetables for her dishes. His wife praises his cutting skills wholeheartedly. Next, the vlogger asks the couple what love means to them. The man replies that they need each other, especially at this age. The woman admits that they fight sometimes but they don’t stay away from each other for long. “It’s home. Utensils will collide but they will never break,” summarises the man. The vlogger also asks them what they are currently in need of. Shobha explains that they need a stall (for their wares) so they don’t have to remain standing most of the time to do their work. Finally, the vlogger asks the couple if they have a message for his generation (the youth). Bhimrao states, “Hard work is everything. You can’t live only for yourself. If you have lived for others, you have truly lived.”

In the caption, the content creator wrote, “I discovered Bhimrao and Shobha near Thane railway station and what happened next was just cathartic. Bhimrao is visually impaired and Shobha has a deformed hand, though, physical limitations never stopped them from being with each other and growing as a family. They visit Thane station daily to sell calendars, and snacks like chakli, laddoos, bhakarwadi and more. They stand as an example for me to realise what true love and companionship are.”

The heartwarming video has received a lot of praise on Instagram. Many people asked the vlogger in the comments how they could help the couple out. Check out some of the reactions below:

“Love is the answer to everything.”

    “They define the term, ‘LOVE’.”

    “I’m not crying. You are.”

    “More power to them.”

    “Respect for both of them.”

    “So so so wholesome.”

“Videos like this are the ones that I genuinely look forward to.”

“‘It’s a home, utensils will collide but they won’t break’ – Uncle dropping some heavy words.”

  • Zomato Delists Suspicious “Single-Dish Restaurants” Which Could Be Selling Prohibited Items

Zomato Delists Suspicious “Single-Dish Restaurants” Which Could Be Selling Prohibited Items

Recently, screenshots of the Zomato app featuring several restaurants selling only a single dish went viral online. Most of these restaurants featured locations in Chandigarh and sold only one dish with a vague name, such as ‘Naughty Strawberry’, ‘Blue Adventure’ and ‘Citrus Punch’. The high prices of the dishes also raised suspicions about whether these items were really food or not. Many social media users believed these were fake restaurant names using the app for drug delivery or money laundering. Zomato has now taken action against such suspicious restaurants and delisted them from their food delivery application.

Taking to their official X handle, Zomato wrote, “We have noticed social media conversations around single-dish restaurants listed on Zomato. We have identified all such restaurants that were potentially fraudulent and have delisted them from our platform. To solve this more comprehensively, we have also investigated all other restaurants which have a very limited menu on Zomato and might have listed prohibited items or worked around a way to list prohibited items.”

Elaborating on things that are not allowed to be sold on Zomato, the post continued, “As per our policy, all restaurants listed on Zomato need to have a FSSAI license and we also actively block items such as alcohol, cigarettes/cigars/vapes from being listed on our platform. However, the restaurants highlighted were able to game our checks by using generic food names such as, ‘Naughty strawberry’, ‘Merry Berry’. We have further strengthened our fraud checks to proactively identify such cases to avoid similar incidents in the future.”

While some X users appreciated the update, others demanded more stringent actions against such fraudulent restaurants.

“Good to see an update from your side on the issue which was raised by some users,” an X user wrote.

Another questioned, “So you didn’t verify the FSSAI license of those restaurants?”A third added, “I don’t think they (Zomato) even do a visit to the restaurant/cloud kitchen. Must be fully online.”

An X user remarked, “If these restaurants were selling prohibited items, then you need to get the authorities involved immediately; simply “delisting” is obviously not enough.”

  • Stall selling $2.70 fishball noodles shutters after 39 years, over 300 customers visited on last day, Lifestyle News

Stall selling $2.70 fishball noodles shutters after 39 years, over 300 customers visited on last day, Lifestyle News

After operating for nearly four decades, You Xiang Teochew Noodles, beloved by many of its regular customers, closed its doors for good on Oct 23.

Run by Hu Ronghui (transliteration), 62, and his wife Chen Qiuyu (transliteration), 59, You Xiang Teochew Noodles had been serving noodle dishes at wallet-friendly prices to diners for the past 39 years.

Their popular menu items include their fishball noodles and minced meat noodles, which cost $2.70 and $3.50 respectively.

Explaining to Shin Min Daily News why they’d kept their prices so low all these years, Hu shared that as there are many elderly citizens that live in the area who might not have an active income, he had hoped to “ease their burden”. “Even though our income has decreased, what’s most important is bringing convenience to the public,” said Hu.

When asked about his hawker journey, Hu stated in the interview that he had started out by helping out at his friend’s noodle stall.

He eventually opened his own stall at a coffee shop in Potong Pasir.

He later moved his business to Bukit Panjang Food Centre, operating at the location for the past 10 years. By then, he had already accumulated a pool of regular customers.

Amy Khor, Senior Minister of State for Transport and Senior Minister of State for Sustainability and the Environment, had patronised You Xiang Teochew Noodles back in 2019, and urged diners to drop by the stall in her Facebook post.

“If you’re in the area, do pop by to enjoy the delicious noodles and other tasty local delights at the hawker centre!” she wrote.

According to Hu, over 300 loyal customers came to bid farewell on the stall’s last day of operation (Oct 23), most of them regulars.

Several of them were saddened by the fact that they would no longer be able to get a taste of their favourite items from the stall.

Liao Jinfen (transliteration), 65, was one of them. Speaking to Shin Min, she stated that she and her mother were regular customers of the stall and would buy fishcakes from them twice a week.

“The couple is very friendly, and sometimes, there would be a queue forming in front of the stall even before they open,” said the schoolteacher, who had been living in the area for over 20 years.

On the evening of its last day, a Shin Min reporter spotted a long queue in front of the stall — reaffirming its popularity.

Later that night, the couple and their two children held a farewell party at the stall with friends and relatives joining in the celebration — marking a bittersweet end to a 39-year legacy.

    [[nid:705787]]

As for what his plans are post-retirement, Hu told Shin Min that he intends to travel, meet old friends and make up for lost time. He added that he had planned to retire a year ago — a decision which was met with support from his children.

“We’re not young anymore and get tired easily working long hours. Now that our children have graduated from university and no longer require constant care from us, it’s time to do something for ourselves,” he said.

  • White Stuff ‘ski bums’ who started out selling T-shirts out of a suitcase in posh resorts are in line for £50m payout after selling their lifestyle and clothing chain

White Stuff ‘ski bums’ who started out selling T-shirts out of a suitcase in posh resorts are in line for £50m payout after selling their lifestyle and clothing chain

The ‘ski bum’ founders of White Stuff are set to pocket £50m after selling their lifestyle and clothing chain.

White Stuff was set up by Sean Thomas and a friend George Treves in the French Alps in 1985 selling T-shirts and sweatshirts to skiers in upmarket resorts such as Méribel and Val d’Isère.

After hatching the idea while drunk to help fund their skiing habit, they made £7,000 in their first season selling the clothing items to fellow skiers. Today, White Stuff has more than 130 stores across the UK.

They opened their first store in 1991 in south London before branching out to Belgium and Germany as well as having dozens of concessions including Marks & Spencer, John Lewis and Next.

Now, South African fashion and homewares retailer TFG has bought UK-based fashion retailer White Stuff, it said on Friday, in a deal that will help it reach ‘critical mass’.

It is understood TFG, which also owns Hobbs, Whistles and Phase Eight, will pay around £50 million for the business

It is understood TFG, which also owns Hobbs, Whistles and Phase Eight, will pay around £50 million for the business.

The new owner has said it plans to expand White Stuff’s portfolio of shops and concessions further after positive recent growth for the brand.

TFG did not disclose a value for the deal, but a person with knowledge of the matter said it was about £50 million.

It is understood that Mr Trevers and Mr Thomas and their families own nearly 80 per cent of the shares meaning they will recieve around £40m before the tax.

White Stuff chief executive Jo Jenkins will continue in the role while founders Mr Trevers and Mr Thomas will step down from the board and leave the business.

The pair hired investment bank Rothschild in February after the receipt of an unsolicited approach from a prospective buyer, according to Sky News.

There was understood to be uncertainty on whether the deal would be signed in time to avoid any increase in capital gains by Rachel Reeves in the chancellor’s budget next week.

Mr Treves said the company’s sale to the Foschini Group (TFG) is ‘significant and emotional’ for him and co-founder Sean Thomas.

‘Today marks a significant and emotional milestone for Sean and me. We have spent over 40 years building this company from the ground up,’ he said.

‘While this decision was not an easy one, we believe it’s the right next step for White Stuff and know that TFG are committed to providing White Stuff with new opportunities for growth.’

White Stuff chief executive Ms Jenkins added: ‘This is a very exciting moment for White Stuff and represents the natural next step for our business.

‘It builds on the hard work and success the brand has achieved in recent years. TFG London is the ideal owner for our business.

‘They value our brand, have a wealth of premium retail experience, and will be excellent long-term owners to support White Stuff’s next phase of growth.’

Justin Hampshire, chief executive of TFG London, said: ‘With White Stuff’s strong presence on the high street and significant potential for sustained growth, we are committed to supporting Jo and her talented team with their ambitious rollout strategy to further increase its store and concession estate.

‘Simultaneously, TFG London will continue to invest in the White Stuff brand and online offer to drive further awareness and growth.’

In the financial year to April 30, White Stuff achieved revenue of 154.8 million pounds ($201 million) and core profit of 8.6 million pounds, TFG said.

Over 85% of its revenue was generated from the store estate and online, with the remainder from its international and wholesale operations.

TFG will be retaining the experienced senior management team of White Stuff led by Ms Jenkins.

  • Viral Now: Man Questions Zomato Hyperpure For Selling Fake Analogue Paneer To Restaurants, Internet Reacts

Viral Now: Man Questions Zomato Hyperpure For Selling Fake Analogue Paneer To Restaurants, Internet Reacts

Eating out at restaurants or ordering food at home has become common, especially in cities. When eating from outside, some people may prefer eating foods that appear to be “healthier” than the typical junk food. However, a viral post on X (formerly Twitter) has called into question the quality of ingredients used by restaurants. An X user shared a screenshot of “analogue paneer” sold to restaurants on the Zomato Hyperpure website. For the unversed, Hyperpure is Zomato’s end-to-end restaurant supply chain solution for the HoReCa (Hotels, Restaurants and Caterers) industry. Products available on Hyperpure include fresh groceries, fruits and vegetables, poultry, meats and seafood, gourmet foods, packaging, consumables, and kitchen equipment.

Sharing a screenshot of the “analogue paneer,” the X user wrote, “India loves paneer dishes, and restaurants sell fake paneer made with vegetable oils without any disclaimer. They make you believe that you are eating healthy food by eating a variety of paneer dishes over junk food. This is being sold on the website of Zomato for restaurants.”

Also Read:Viral: X User Shares Zomato’s Response To Wrong Order, Internet In Disbelief

The screenshot shows the product “Soft and Fresh Paneer (Analogue), 1 Kg”. The product is priced at Rs 205.53/kg for 5kg+ and Rs 207.05/kg for 3 kg+. A part of the product details as shown in the screenshot include “Made from skimmed milk” and “Fit for Tikka and gravy paneer dishes.” NDTV tried to reach out to Zomato, but there has been no response yet.

    What Is Analogue Paneer?

Analogue paneer is also called by many as “fake paneer” or “synthetic paneer” since it is not made entirely of dairy. This type of paneer is often made from milk and vegetable oil. The cost of making this paneer is generally cheaper than the traditional paneer made completely from dairy.

Disclaimer: NDTV does not vouch for the claims in the post by the X user.

The X post went viral, garnering more than 145K views and several comments. Take a look:

“Everything is adulterated or highly expensive,” a disappointed user wrote. Another said, “Seriously disappointed that @zomato is complicit in allowing this so openly.”

One said, “Analogue paneer sounds so dystopian and disgusting. Looked up its meaning and yep, still disgusted.” Another chimed in, “Disappointing to see this being a vegetarian. I’ll stick to home food now.”

An X user expressed, “No wonder that restaurants will use this to reduce cost. The thumb rule is – If you are ordering food, consider it junk. Any nutritional benefit will be an added advantage.”

Chelsea’s husband, Jeff is a managing partner for Icon Media Group, an advertising agency founded by his mother, Nancy Lazkani. He has held various roles within the company, including account coordinator, director, and vice president of business development and strategy, before becoming the managing partner in 2021.

Chelsea and Jeff Lazkani met on Tinder back in 2015. The real estate agent was in California for work, but didn’t plan on staying in Los Angeles permanently. “Almost 2 years ago I came to Los Angeles for what was meant to be a ‘short break’. I stayed because I fell in love…It was the best decision I’ve ever made,” Chelsea wrote on a social media post celebrating their second wedding anniversary.

“We spoke about 15 times before getting together. I don’t want to waste my time and give my energy to somebody if I don’t think it will be worth it,” Chelsea said about meeting her ex-husband.

“I felt like I knew him before we even met and the connection was immediate.”

When Chelsea met Jeff, she was working as a business strategist and solar analyst with oil and gas companies. She then gained her real estate license and first worked for a firm called Rodeo Realty, overseeing more than $10 million in sales in a year. In 2021, Chelsea got her big break at the Oppenheim Group before appearing on Selling Sunsetin 2022.

Chelsea and Jeff Lazkani married on August 12, 2017, and have two children, Maddox Ali Lavon Lazkani and Melia Iman Lazkani.

The Moment Chelsea Found Out About Her Husband’s Infidelity On Camera

Chelsea Lazkani learned of her husband’s infidelity from her Selling Sunset co-star Bre Tiesi on season 8 of the Netflix reality show. In Episode 3, Bre learns from her friend Amanda that Chelsea’s husband was spotted “making out” with another woman in a hotel lobby.

Despite Bre’s feud with Chelsea, the O Group agent went to her colleague with information. “A friend I’ve known for a couple of years, Amanda, asked to go to lunch,” she explains to Chelsea in Episode 5. “She told me that her friend, who she’s still very close with and sees, lives at the W Hotel in Hollywood, and that he saw your husband with some girl…”

While Bre claims she only had good intentions in bringing the information to Cheslea on camera, their Selling Sunset co-stars, Emma Hernan and Chrishell Stause wondered why a sensitive topic like infidelity was being brought up on camera. Bre sat on the information for two episodes, fearing that breaking the news would cause an even bigger rift between the group of women.

“As much as I dislike Chelsea, that is a heavy hitter to bring to her. Yes, I think she should know. But next time you throw rocks, you should check your house for any cracks before you come for mine,” she added. “I do not think I am the right person to tell Chelsea this information, at all. They say don’t shoot the messenger, but I think she will definitely shoot me.”

A source close to the reality TV star claimed that Chelsea believed Jeff’s alleged infidelity “had been going on for months” before she filed for divorce.

“She had suspected the cheating for a while and wanted to catch him in the act before filing,” the insider revealed. “She finally had enough and decided to file this week.”

“But it was a long time coming…”

“She is still in the house with their kids. She wants him to stay out of the house, and they are not on speaking terms.”

What Led To Chelsea And Jeff Lazkani’s Marriage Breakdown

In court documents obtained by E! News, the Lazkani’s marriage fell apart due to more than a divorce. Jeff Lazkani claims he found out his wife had filed for divorce from TMZ.

In response to Chelsea Lazkani’s divorce filing, Jeff claimed that he wanted exclusive possession of their Manhattan Beach property “in part” because Chelsea had been “exhibiting suspicious behavior and several of my personal items within the property have gone missing or have been relocated” since she filed for divorce.

Jeff also claimed that Chelsea would often provoke him into arguing, “only to pull out her cell phone and record my response, as if to try and catch me speaking in a hostile or aggressive manner after provoking me by being derogatory or disrespectful to me.”

He added, “In the past, [Chelsea] demonstrated that she is capable of being physically violent and aggressive. For example, about a year ago, [Chelsea] struck me in the face, breaking my glasses and causing a small cut on the side of my face. I have never put a hand on [Chelsea] in a physically aggressive way.”

    On
    Selling Sunset,
Chelsea explained her concern that her career in real estate led to the end of her marriage. “The one thing that has really broken my marriage more than anything is my choice of career that my partner doesn’t support very vocally. And that was the biggest pain point in my marriage over the last two years. It was just too much for him.”

Previously, Chelsea praised Jeff for supporting her career and balancing motherhood. “I think having the support of my husband and my family really essentially prepared me to take on this big role and this big opportunity,” The British-Nigerian reality star explained. “But for me personally, I saw this as an opportunity to really open doors in an industry that has lacked diversity and where minorities are underrated.”

In a confessional towards the end of Season 8 of Selling Sunset, Chelsea, who is seen without her wedding ring, laments about the end of her marriage. She revealed that she believed her life in Manhattan Beach would last forever and that she and Jeff fought so much that she was exhausted and couldn’t do it anymore.
