A teenage soccer star has been identified as one of two people killed in a mass shooting at a Halloween celebration in Orlando on Friday.

Timothy Schmidt Jr., 19, was enjoying a night out with some friends outside ‘The Block’ – a seven-venue entertainment district in downtown Orlando – when a 17-year-old suspect allegedly opened fire on a crowd of thousands of partygoers.

The University of Central Florida freshman and Weston FC soccer player was one of two fatalities on the night, while another eight people were injured in the shooting, the regional police department said on Friday.

Timothy’s heartbroken father, Timothy Schmidt Sr., opened up on the pain of losing his ‘one of a kind’ son in an interview with The New York Post on Saturday.

‘One month before I dropped him off for his summer session at UCF he was the best man in my wedding and gave the best speech ever,’ Schmidt Sr said.

‘He brought everyone to tears. He was my mini me and my best friend. We had such a special bond.’

After the shooting, people in Halloween costumes stood in the incident area as emergency personnel attended to casualties lying in the street.

Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith said at a press conference that the alleged gunman, Jaylen Dwayne Edgar, had been identified and taken into custody.

‘He was just out with his friends having fun,’ Schmidt Sr. said about his late son.

A woman, 26, is said to have been hospitalized after she was trampled on during the chaos after Edgar allegedly pulled out a handgun and opened fire.

The suspect then ran and appeared a block away amid the mad scramble of the crowd at Orange Avenue and Washington Street, where he is understood to have pulled the trigger once again.

Edgar has been hit with two counts of first-degree murder with a firearm and six attempted murder charges.

At the time of writing the fundraising page, which has a $40,000 target, has brought in just over $30,000.

Nani has delivered his assessment of Ruben Amorim as the Sporting Lisbon boss prepares to follow his path from the Portuguese giants to Manchester United.

‘All I can say is good luck,’ Nani told Sport TV.

Amorim will make the same move as Nani from Sporting to Man United and the pair were seen in a warm embrace on the touchline following Friday’s match.

Former Man United defender Rio Ferdinand revealed earlier this week that Nani had also given him more insight on Amorim.

‘I spoke to Nani actually the other day and he said “Rio, whatever you want to talk about, tactics or whatever, the players play for him, they love him and they respect him”,’ Ferdinand said in a video posted on X.

‘One of the issues I think with Erik ten Hag and what he [Nani] said about Amorim is he’s very straight, very straight and very direct.

‘From what I’m hearing, I’m talking to people that have played for [him] but also been around [him] as a human, I think the character and the charisma compared to Erik ten Hag will be the big differentiator, will be the big difference.’

Amorim, who has signed a two-and-a-half year deal at Man United, admitted post match that over the course of three days he was left to make what he feels is the biggest decision of his career to date.

Kaleb has now lost six kilos and has managed to stick to his new diet, only having the occasional ‘cheat day’ and only ever consuming sugars that occur naturally.

The farmer’s confession comes after Jeremy revealed he was ‘days away from death’ after falling unwell following a swim in the Indian Ocean while on holiday.

Clarkson returned to Britain and a ‘sudden deterioration began to gather pace’ with him feeling ‘clammy’, ‘tightness in my chest’, and ‘pins and needles in my left arm’.

This led him to being admitted to hospital where a heart attack was ruled out after he had an electrocardiogram (ECG), blood tests and X-rays.

Following the life-saving surgery, he has been warned by doctors that he must make major changes to his lifestyle.

The Diddly Squat farm star acknowledged these changes need to be made but he has labelled them as ‘terrifying’ as he is no longer ‘allowed to have fun any more’.

His doctors told him there was a five per cent chance that his heart would stop but he quipped that there was the same chance he would be eaten by lions.

And while this is might be a frightening thought, Clarkson admitted that the changes he has to make following the surgery is what is truly daunting.

Writing in the Sun, he said: ‘What is scary though is what came afterwards. The advice on how I must live my life from now on.

‘Literally, I am not allowed to have fun any more. I must live in a Liberal-Democrat, holier-than-thou fog of weeds, seeds and yoga. This is terrifying.

‘And if I go to a party, I must stand in a corner, nursing some refreshing elderflower juice, before going home at about 9.30. That’s terrifying too.’

The 64-year-old also said that he was aware that his lifestyle was unhealthy, and he was unconcerned by the thought of dying, but now wants to see his ‘grandchildren grow up’.

He revealed he started smoking at age 14 becoming a ‘world champion, sucking down sixty Marlboro Reds a day’ and told how he is a ‘big time’ drinker.

‘Here’s the thing, though. I’m now 64 and last week, when the Grim Reaper poked his nose round the door, I decided that actually, I quite fancied living a little bit longer. ‘

His doctors also told him that ‘a lot’ of his current work will have ‘to go’, and suggested replacing it with golf.

Clarkson currently writes three newspaper columns a week, runs a brewery, a pub, a shop and a farm, which he documents on TV series Clarkson’s Farm, while also hosting Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. He has also recently released a new book.

Although he remains adamant he will continue to work – the health scare has been enough to shock meat-eater Clarkson into rethinking his diet as he contemplates ways to ‘make celery interesting’.

A Formula One star has become the latest big name to enter the world of padel, after joining the Hexagon Cup with their own team.

Padel is one of the fastest growing rackets sports in the world, with approximately 25million active players around the world.

Since securing the backing of DMG Ventures, the inaugural Hexagon Cup successfully lured the very best international padel players to compete in six teams.

Moreover, some of sport’s biggest names have begun to enter the competition as team owners, with Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero the latest to do so with the Kru Padel team.

Now, though, the latest global superstars to get behind padel are Alpine driver Pierre Gasly and Ligue 1 side Lorient president Loic Fery, with their 10Padel team entering the fray for the second edition of the competition.

Fery added: ‘Pierre and I played padel together after the Miami Grand Prix with Dani Homedes who co-owns another Hexagon team and another friend of ours also involved in 10Padel.

‘Since then, we have both nurtured the desire to partner with ambition in the padel world and we finally agreed to become the owners of the 8th franchise of Hexagon Cup. That is how 10Padel was born.

‘I am very excited to join Pierre in such an inspiring and promising competition, where we will combine our experience and competitive spirit to ensure 10Padel success and bring padel fans together.’

The Hexagon Cup is a revolutionary padel tournament backed by high-profile sports heroes including Rafael Nadal, Robert Lewandowski and Andy Murray.

‘Or maybe I’ll be the next Harold Bishop and keep popping back over the years.’

His shock exit comes one year after Neighbours returned to screens on Amazon Freevee, not long after the show was cancelled and the finale aired on Network 10 in July 2022.

Ryan has become one of the most recognisable faces on Neighbours since first appearing on Ramsay Street as Toadie back in 1995.

However, it is the same Irishman who now believes that the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship is a better place for fighters and fans than the UFC and other mixed martial arts promotions.

That’s a major claim that has been indirectly made by the Irishman, as he pointed out a major issue with the fights in the UFC. So what’s the issue? Well, according to Conor McGregor, it’s grappling. A technique that makes up a major part of the fights has been called out by McGregor for ruining the entertainment value of the matches.

Taking to Twitter, McGregor shared his controversial stance against grapplers in the promotion. ‘The Notorious’ claimed that grappling has been ruining the sport of MMA for fans to watch. A problem that fans are hiding despite their grievances. But wrestlers taking it to the mat for most of the matches are ruining the viewing experience, as per the Irishman. “Act like yous aren’t fed up and over this bulls**t all yous want, but I won’t. It’s just become the norm nowadays. The product is suffering because of it. If it wasn’t for the brand name already well established it would be well in the bin by now. It is in the bin in the mainstream. That’s a fact. There is no mainstream casual audience here. It needs calling out. Adjusting. A full review. MMA is better than what it has become recently imo.”

He wrote another tweet where he wrote how his co-owned BKFC is the future of MMA and the fights within the promotion are much more intense than in the UFC. He claims that, unlike the influx of grappling and stalling in the Dana White-led promotion, BKFC offers more striking and action. “Bare Knuckle is where it’s at. The future! And the future is now. There is zero feeling of an event dragging on that is ever so prevalent in today’s MMA. More intense. More deadly. More bl**d. No room for stalling or escaping collision/impact. It’s sink or swim in bare knuckle. Nowhere to hide. The nastiest, craziest, wildest sport in today’s market.”

It truly is a controversial take, but one that many might agree with. When it comes to the entertainment value, a sector of fans surely is more interested in seeing more striking than fighters just hugging it out for five minutes straight. However, it is also important for the other fighter to learn to get off the cage and have a better takedown defense. Sean O’Malley vs. Merab Dvalishvili could’ve been a much more intense fight if O’Malley wasn’t taken down extensively throughout the matchup. So maybe O’Malley should look toward joining the BKFC now if he ever leaves the UFC. Especially after McGregor made another major claim about what makes the promotion more superior than other MMA promotions.

BKFC: A Better Option for Ex-UFC Fighters

Talking to The MacLife, McGregor revealed that fighters like Justin Gaethje can enjoy more attention and excitement if they become a part of the BKFC. He said, “The rest of them (promotions), their best events are past fighters of the UFC maybe fighting each other or maybe fighting someone in the mid-level. It doesn’t really generate mega buzz for me, or for the fans, judging by the numbers. Let’s take Justin Gaethje, who’s a UFC veteran, former BMF holder… interim belt [holder]. Take him; let’s put him in bareknuckle; that’s exciting. That is really, really exciting. Now let’s take him and put him in another MMA organization, not so much.”

Well, it surely looks like Conor McGregor is enjoying his work in the MMA promotion and is really happy with how the product has shaped.
