Woman Stumbles Upon Late Grandmothers Stunning Salt And Pepper Shaker Collection

Life, at times, throws delightful surprises your way when you least expect them. For Rachel Whitten, a 33-year-old teacher from Rover, Arkansas, a trip down memory lane became something extraordinary when she discovered a treasure trove of sentimental value left by her late grandmother, Sharon Tidwell. It wasn’t just an old chest of heirlooms or some forgotten trinkets hidden in a dusty attic. Instead, Rachel stumbled upon the stunning legacy of Sharon’s 1,150-piece salt and pepper shaker collection, a quirky, heartfelt passion her grandmother had nurtured over decades.
Imagine walking into a room that feels more like a mini-museum than a living space, with each shaker telling a different story. Well, that’s exactly what Rachel experienced, and it left her in awe. According to the New York Post, Sharon, who passed away last month at the age of 80, had been collecting these unique keepsakes since her mid-40s, when she inherited a few pieces from her mother. What started as a modest collection soon blossomed into a captivating assortment, thanks to her eye for treasures at flea markets, yard sales, and thoughtful gifts from friends and family.

Each piece held meaning, and over the years, Sharon’s love for her shakers only grew stronger. “It was mind-blowing,” Rachel admitted, reflecting on the sheer scale of what she had uncovered. “We always knew she loved them, but it wasn’t until we counted them that we realized just how massive the collection was. She had a shaker for every occasion – Christmas, Halloween, and even quirky souvenirs from her travels,” she said.
The collection wasn’t just about quantity; some of the pieces were genuinely remarkable, like a vintage hanging strawberry shaker set, valued at about $150-$200. Yet, for Rachel, the most cherished piece was a hand-carved shaker made from deer antler, crafted by her father during a hunting trip. “That one was her favourite,” Rachel shared. Sharon’s shakers were displayed in custom-made wooden cabinets throughout her home, organized by theme. “It felt like walking through a museum. She could tell you the story behind each piece, who gave it to her, and the special memory that came with it,” Rachel recalled. The collection wasn’t just a hobby; it was a living, breathing testament to Sharon’s life and the people who had touched it.
For Rachel and her sister, Sarah Cole, now 34, caring for the collection became part of their childhood routine. Dusting the shakers often felt like more of a chore – sometimes even a punishment if they misbehaved. “If you got in trouble, you’d be put to work cleaning them,” Rachel laughed, recalling the times when the two of them were assigned the task. “I remember when we accidentally broke a set of teepees and had to glue them back together,” she added.

As time passes, the two sisters are finding new homes for the collection. They’ve decided to keep some of the pieces close to their hearts, while others will be donated or sold to collectors. In one particularly touching gesture, Rachel plans to give away a moving, oinking shaker set to a woman who had lost a similar one in a fire. The outpouring of love from the community has been overwhelming. “People on TikTok have reached out, saying how these remind them of loved ones. It’s so special to see how something so simple can bring so much joy. That’s what makes this all so meaningful – passing on the happiness,” Rachel said.

  • New cricket boss Todd Greenberg makes a STUNNING call on Australia Day after sport vowed to cancel the national holiday

New cricket boss Todd Greenberg makes a STUNNING call on Australia Day after sport vowed to cancel the national holiday

    • Sporting body said Australia Day would not be commemorated in 2025
    • Cricket Australia did not mention Australia Day at Gabba Test
    • January 26 has become a very divisive day for Aussies

The incoming CEO of Cricket Australia says that Australia Day will be commemorated from now on after the sporting organisation decided to not make reference to the national public holiday earlier this year.

Cricket fans across the nation won’t see any team in green and gold playing on Australia Day this summer because of a clash with the Australian Open.

But recently appointed cricket CEO Todd Greenberg says that going forward Australia Day will be celebrated and cricket will be played.

‘The cricket Australia board has spoken about it and they will playing matches in the future on Australia Day – but they do understand that we will need to do that respectfully and consult the right people and the right groups,’ Greenberg told 2GB breakfast host Ben Fordham.

‘My personal view on this is that I’ve loved Australia Day since i was a kid, but when you reflect on history and listen to other people’s views you can appreciate it is a difficult day for some people.

‘So, we have to respect that, but ultimately I think what you’ll see going forward is that if there’s opportunities to play cricket on Australia Day we will be – we will just do it respectfully.

Fordham quizzed Greenberg on what he meant by ‘respectfully’, explaining that many Australians feel like they aren’t allowed to celebrate the day.

‘Oh, no, we will be celebrating it – absolutely!’ Greenberg replied.

‘For those who who want to celebrate it, they are more than welcome to – and a day at the cricket is probably the best way to do it.

‘When I say ‘respectfully’, it’s just making sure that we understand that the day means different things to different people. And making sure we find a balance there.’

The decision to schedule the Test over the Australia Day weekend in 2024 was itself controversial, with women’s all-rounder Ash Gardner previously describing it as a day of ‘hurt and mourning’.

Gardner found support from men’s Test captain Pat Cummins and star batter Steve Smith.

Both claimed January 26 is not an appropriate time to celebrate the national holiday, with the date a highly controversial issue due to the landing of the First Fleet from Britain in Australia.

Smith formed his view after chatting with teammate Scott Boland, who has Indigenous heritage.

However Cricket Australia’s attempt to placate such opponents by shying away from acknowledging the national day also angered players who wanted the day celebrated.

Former test player Greg Ritchie was one of those.

‘I am quite disappointed to read the Cricket Australia has decided not to use the phrase ‘Australia Day’ for this Test match,’ Ritchie said.

‘It will be at the Gabba, which is my home ground, and to have an Australia Day Test there is special.’

  • Stunning Toorak Development Offers Buyers Rare Lifestyle Opportunity

Stunning Toorak Development Offers Buyers Rare Lifestyle Opportunity

The latest Toorak development designed by Paul Conrad is inspired by the suburb’s longstanding prestigious reputation and pared-back elegance.

ADA Toorak is the new apartment offering by Buxton Projects, Paul Conrad, Jack Merlo, and Manresa, located just a short stroll from local gardens, cafes and restaurants, with a December move-in date.

The luxury homes, designed by award-winning architect Paul Conrad, feature expansive living spaces that evoke the experience of living in a stand-alone abode.

With a limited number of residences available, these exclusive homes have quickly captured the attention of discerning buyers.

“ADA is inspired by the grand gardens of Toorak, and the prestigious, long-standing homes that have defined Toorak’s reputation.

“ADA borrows the sense of stature, proportion, and dignity from these homes and combines them with modern technology and contemporary stylings to create light-filled spaces that offer calm and respite,” Mr Conrad said.

“Residents at ADA can expect a living experience that is more akin to a stand-alone home than an apartment. We’ve taken each and every element from our luxury home projects and adapted them for more convenient, low-maintenance apartment living.”

The award-winning team behind these homes have created truly one-of-a-kind residences.

    Toorak prestige

Toorak is one of Melbourne’s blue-chip suburbs, with impressive mansions populating the streets, a host of green spaces, and a short commute to the CBD.

High Street, Armadale, is the closest shopping district and hosts some of the most sought-after retail, cafes, and restaurants in the city, including Scanlan Theodore, Aesop, and Victor Churchill.

ADA Toorak’s aesthetic is inspired by the luxurious neighbourhood, according to Tom Small, development director at Buxton Projects.

“When I think of Toorak, I think big, bold, robust, and secure. The building definitely has that appeal. It’s made entirely from concrete and blockwork, so there’s nothing lightweight about it – it has a really strong presence, like Toorak itself,” he said.

The residences are inspired by Toorak’s iconic greenery and gardens.

    Modern architectural residences

Residences start from $2.695 million and range from 183sqm to 289sqm in size internally.

Mr Conrad aimed to create an apartment that replicated the lifestyle experienced in a free-standing home.

He achieved this with expansive living areas adorned with floor-to-ceiling double-glazed windows and doors, private botanical terraces and gardens (ranging from 22sqm to 205sqm), and three-metre high ceilings.

The larger scale of the homes has particularly appealed to downsizers.

“All the kitchens are also really spacious, there’s no compromise on space or storage. The travertine stone throughout the homes, which Paul personally selected, is a standout feature,” said Mr Small.

Neutral tones and high-end finishes have been chosen to provide the ideal backdrop for residents to showcase their art and interior décor.

The bedrooms are connected to the outdoor terraces, offering residents a calming way to wake up each morning and welcome in their leafy surroundings.

Lush, relaxed and pristine – the homes’ interiors speak to refined simplicity.

The perfect balance of green and urban spaces

Landscaping was an important consideration in ADA Toorak’s design, contrasting against the brick exteriors. Both private courtyards and terraces are included in the homes, along with communal outdoor spaces.

Ground-floor apartments feature generous but maintainable 205 sqm gardens.

The greenery incorporated in the design provides a retreat from the urban setting of Toorak and Armadale, yet locals can easily hop on a train or tram to get into the city.

    A once-in-a-generation investment

The investment opportunity is strong, according to Mr Small, who said that apartments designed by such a prominent team are rare in the Toorak market, where property is usually tightly held.

He added that ADA Toorak is also selling at a competitive price.

“We purchased the land at a below-market rate, which has allowed us to hold our sales rates on the apartments competitively,” he explained.

“To buy the land and do the construction in this market, we’d have to sell the apartments for 20% to 30% more just to keep up with those cost escalations.”

  • Ex-Tennis Darling and Now Pickleball Star Eugenie Bouchard’s Elation Knows No Bounds After Stunning Athletic Feat Earns Her Unique Honor

Ex-Tennis Darling and Now Pickleball Star Eugenie Bouchard’s Elation Knows No Bounds After Stunning Athletic Feat Earns Her Unique Honor

Eugenie Bouchard has embraced a fresh chapter in her athletic career—and it’s not on the tennis court! The Canadian star has stepped into the pickleball world, and from the looks of it, she’s found her groove in this fast-paced, smaller-court sport. After years of highs, lows, and plenty of back-and-forth with tennis, Bouchard now seems to be gaining the spotlight in her latest endeavor.

The Canadian player began playing pickleball after failing to qualify for the US Open last year. Gradually, she started competing at a professional level joining many players who try to amalgamate their tennis skills on pickleball courts. Now, Bouchard seems to be making some great progress on the pickleball courts as well.

Taking to Instagram, the former WTA World No.5 shared a video of herself playing pickleball. She can be seen playing against Lara Giltinan and leading against her opponent fashionably in the Pickleball World Championship Series in Texas. But what caught the attention of the fans is the remarkable Around the Post—or ATP shot that the star player is playing on the courts. The tactic requires the opponent to hit the ball at an angle where they can take off the court and strike the pickleball outside the net post. This shot was in fact acknowledged by ESPN and earned a place in the Top 10 on SportsCenter.

Sharing footage of the same, Bouchard expressed her delight. Captioning the post, she wrote, “SC Top 10 😮‍💨🤣. ” Interestingly, Bouchard not just emerged victorious in this match, but also won her next match, 11-6, 11-2, and is into the round of 16 at the sport’s premier event. This, however, is not the first time when Bouchard has gained headlines for Pickleball and has often expressed what appealed to her to try the sport.

Speaking in an interaction with Tennis.com, earlier this year, Bouchard said, “I was like, you know, ‘I’d love to challenge myself to try something new. And also to be a part of something that is so trending and growing so much, that was really appealing to me. It was also something I could do while still playing some tennis tournaments. So that’s why I was like, ‘Yeah, sign me up.” And it is probably for this interest for Pickleball, that Bouchard is now gearing up to participate with tennis veterans for a unique event.

Eugenie Bouchard thrilled to participate alongside Andre Agassi in the Pickleball event

Eugenie Bouchard has played only 4 matches on tennis courts this year with her ranking dropping down to 997. But despite her attention on Pickleball, her association with the tennis community has not faded away and the star player is now gearing up to participate in a Pickleball event, alongside Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick, and Steffi Graf.

A video shared by the official Instagram handle of The Pickleball Slam in September featured Agassi as he announced the 3rd edition of the tournament, scheduled in February 2025. Speaking about the latest edition, Agassi said, “This time I will be pairing up with my Pickleball Slam win partner Andy Roddick who will be pairing up with Genie Bouchard. But I have the last laugh as I am pairing up with my legendary wife Steffi Graf!” Soon after the video was out on social media, Bouchard was quick to comment expressing her excitement.
