MANAMA, Bahrain — Iran said Friday it conducted a successful space launch, the latest for its program the West alleges improves Tehran’s ballistic missile program.
Iran conducted the launch using its Simorgh program, a satellite-carrying rocket that had had a series of failed launches, at Iran’s Imam Khomeini Spaceport in rural Semnan province. That’s the site of Iran’s civilian space program.
The Simorgh carried what Iran described as an “orbital propulsion system,” as well as two research systems to a 400-kilometer (250-mile) orbit above the Earth. The system could allow Iran to change the orbit of a spacecraft, something Tehran long has wanted to do to be able to have geo-synchronized orbits for its satellites.
There was no immediate independent confirmation the launch was successful. The U.S. military did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The announcement comes as heightened tensions grip the wider Middle East over Israel’s continued war on Hamas in the Gaza Strip and as an uneasy ceasefire holds in Lebanon.
The United States has previously said Iran’s satellite launches defy a U.N. Security Council resolution and called on Tehran to undertake no activity involving ballistic missiles capable of delivering nuclear weapons. U.N. sanctions related to Iran’s ballistic missile program expired in October 2023.
“Iran’s work on space-launch vehicles — including its Simorgh — probably would shorten the timeline to produce an intercontinental ballistic missile, if it decided to develop one, because the systems use similar technologies,” a U.S. intelligence community report released in July said.
Under Iran’s relatively moderate former President Hassan Rouhani, the Islamic Republic slowed its space program for fear of raising tensions with the West. The late hard-line President Ebrahim Raisi, a protégé of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei who came to power in 2021, pushed the program forward.
Iran’s reformist President Masoud Pezeshkian, who has been signaling he wants to negotiate with the West over sanctions, has yet to offer strategy when it comes to Iran’s ambitions in space.
Intercontinental ballistic missiles can be used to deliver nuclear weapons. Iran is now producing uranium close to weapons-grade levels after the collapse of its nuclear deal with world powers. Tehran has enough enriched uranium for “several” nuclear weapons, if it chooses to produce them, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency repeatedly has warned.
Iran has always denied seeking nuclear weapons and says its space program, like its nuclear activities, is for purely civilian purposes. However, U.S. intelligence agencies and the IAEA say Iran had an organized military nuclear program up until 2003.

Building a successful family and lifestyle blog takes time, effort, and consistency. However, with the right strategy, you can grow a popular family and lifestyle blog that connects with readers.
Here are some top tips for UK bloggers looking to build a thriving online presence:
1. Find Your Niche

For example, new motherhood, your fostering experience, budget home cooking, green living for families, or family travel on a budget. Finding a tight niche will help you create tailored content that resonates with a target readership.
2. Create Shareworthy Content

Consistently publishing high-quality, engaging content is key to building a loyal audience. Focus on creating posts that provide value to readers such as how-tos, thoughtful advice on how to become a foster carer, parenting hacks, relatable stories about your family, and beautiful visuals. Content that naturally encourages sharing on social media will help grow your reach. Ensure your posts are optimized for SEO with keywords so readers can find your blog.
3. Establish an Editorial Calendar
An editorial calendar will keep your content pipeline organized and on track. Map outposts and topics weeks or months in advance. To keep readers engaged, aim to publish 2-3 posts per week at minimum. Mix up your content format—try long-form posts, listicles, product reviews, and interviews. Schedule social media activity to accompany your blog posts.
4. Leverage Social Media

Engage with your audience by commenting on posts and running social media competitions and hashtag campaigns. Building a community on social media will drive more traffic to your blog.
5. Focus on Visual Storytelling
Compelling photography and graphics will instantly capture readers’ attention in the age of visual social media. Invest time in taking original, high-quality photos across your blog and social platforms. Create branded graphics, illustrations, and infographics to make your content more eye-catching and Instagram-friendly. Visuals boost engagement.
Building a successful family and lifestyle blog often involves sharing relatable, authentic glimpses into your family’s daily life. If they’re comfortable, involve your children, spouse, or extended family by letting them guest blog, take over your Instagram stories, or participate in popular series like “A Day in the Life.” sharing funny parenting mishaps, motherhood challenges, and family activities adds a genuine, human element that helps you connect with readers.
7. Find Sponsorships and Partnerships

Understanding the Concept of a Lifestyle Blog
Defining a Lifestyle Blog
A lifestyle blog is a space where I share my personal experiences, interests, and daily activities. It’s more than just a diary; it’s a way to inspire others. I can write about various topics like cooking, travel, or fitness, all tied together by my unique voice.
Differences Between Lifestyle and Personal Blogs
While both types of blogs share personal stories, lifestyle blogs focus on helping readers live their best lives. A personal blog might just share my thoughts, but a lifestyle blog aims to connect with an audience. Here are some key differences:
Focus: Lifestyle blogs target specific interests, while personal blogs can be more random.
Audience: Lifestyle blogs often cater to a particular group, like young parents or fitness enthusiasts.
Content Variety: Lifestyle blogs cover multiple topics, whereas personal blogs may stick to one theme.
Popular Lifestyle Blog Niches
There are many niches within lifestyle blogging. Here are a few popular ones:
Travel: Sharing adventures and tips for fellow travelers.
Food: Recipes, cooking tips, and restaurant reviews.
Fashion: Style advice and outfit inspirations.
In my journey, I’ve learned that choosing a niche helps me connect better with my audience. It’s essential to find what resonates with me and my readers.
A successful lifestyle blog isn’t just about sharing my life; it’s about helping others find inspiration and joy in theirs.
By understanding these concepts, I can create a blog that not only reflects my passions but also engages and inspires my readers.
Remember, lifestyle blogging is about sharing your journey while encouraging others to explore theirs!
Choosing Your Lifestyle Blog Niche
When starting a lifestyle blog, one of the first things I had to do was choose a niche. This is crucial because it helps define what my blog will be about and who my audience will be. Here’s how I approached it:
Importance of Niche Selection
Choosing a niche is important for several reasons:
Focus: It helps me stay on topic and create content that resonates with my readers.
Audience: A specific niche attracts a dedicated audience who shares similar interests.
Expertise: It allows me to showcase my knowledge and passion in a particular area.
How to Identify Your Passion
To find the right niche, I asked myself a few questions:
What do I love talking about?
What skills do I have that I can share?
What topics excite me?
I made a list of my interests and skills, which helped me narrow down my options. This exercise is key to ensuring that I choose a niche I can stick with long-term.
Examples of Successful Niches
Here are some popular lifestyle blog niches that I considered:
Fashion and Style: Sharing outfit ideas and fashion tips.
Food and Drink: Posting recipes and cooking tips.
Health and Fitness: Focusing on wellness and workout routines.
Travel: Documenting adventures and travel tips.
Parenthood and Family: Offering parenting advice and family activities.
When selecting a niche, I kept in mind that it shouldn’t be too broad or too narrow. For example, writing about “everything in life” is too broad, while a niche like “keto diet tips for seniors” might be too narrow. I aimed for a balance that would attract readers while allowing me to explore my interests.
Finding the right niche can take time, but it’s worth the effort. Your blog should reflect your passions and connect with your audience.
In conclusion, choosing the right niche is a vital step in starting a successful lifestyle blog. It sets the stage for everything that follows, from content creation to audience engagement. Remember, your blog is a reflection of you, so choose a niche that excites you!

Choosing the right blogging platform is a crucial step in starting your lifestyle blog. This is where you’ll create, publish, and manage your content. A good platform can make all the difference in your blogging journey.

The month of September has been officially recognized as
National Senior Center Month by the National Council on Aging, and this year, our community came together to celebrate the invaluable contribution of senior centers across the country.
Events such as the 50+ Lifestyle Expo and Senior Games not only showcased the talents and vitality of our senior population but also promoted healthy living, social engagement, and lifelong learning.
The vibrant Lifestyle Expo, that took place on Sept. 17 at the Tipton County Fairgrounds, attracted just under 150 attendees, featuring 42 exhibitors. Participants had the opportunity to explore an array of health and wellness resources, learn about technology and home products, and enjoy
engaging presentations on topics including scams and fraud, as well as balance and fall prevention.
Interactive sessions encouraged attendees to experience new hobbies, demonstrating that it’s never too late to start something new.
“In celebrating National Senior Center Month, we aim to highlight the important role senior centers play in promoting wellness and connection in our community,” said Cara Kellerman, event organizer. “The Lifestyle Expo was a remarkable success. Attendance was up more than 56 percent from the inaugural event; showing a growing interest. We are committed to providing attendees and local seniors with the resources and support they need to lead healthy, fulfilling lives.”
Additionally, the Senior Games that took place on Sept. 24 and 26, brought together more than 100 members of the Encore Center. Members competed in a wide range of activities including
Bingo, The Price is Right (and other game shows), Mini Golf, Corn Hole and even card games.
The games featured great prizes and emphasized the importance of staying active with friendly competition, fostering camaraderie among participants.
The events succeeded in fostering community engagement and raising awareness about the diverse programs and services offered by senior centers nationwide. Local organizations and businesses partnered with Encore to ensure that every aspect of the month was thoughtfully curated
with the actively aging population in mind.

“Cam is a kid that cares so much about the team, it flows through other people,” Fankhauser said. ” … He is a true leader. His play and his competitiveness explodes on the field for us.”
That was evident during Saturday’s 63-34 win over Lake Erie at Larry Staudt Field. It goes beyond Hollobaugh leading the Cavaliers in tackles again.
With Walsh comfortably ahead late in the first half, Hollobaugh raced to his left, jumped and made a one-handed interception. The effort overshadowed the fact the junior inside linebacker landed out of bounds.
The final time he touched the football counted. After some shaky moments by the defense in the second half, Hollobaugh intercepted a pass in the end zone in the final seconds.
“I was really adamant about the fact that they weren’t going to get in the end zone there,” Hollobaugh said. “I told the guys I don’t care if it’s the last minute, they’re not getting in the end zone. We kept them out of the end zone.”
Hollobaugh has created havoc for opposing offenses for a couple of seasons. He currently leads Walsh in tackles with 46 (35 solo). His interception at the end of the Lake Erie game was his second of the year, tying him for the team lead.
He is not resting on his laurels on the heels of a 2023 season that saw him named the G-MAC’s top defensive player.
“That’s last year,” Hollobaugh said. “It’s in the past. I came out with a new mentality, the same work, same ethic, same kid. It’s just a new dream, a new opportunity to hopefully double it up.”
The flow of Hollobaugh’s energy hits more than one Walsh team.
Hollobaugh is also an infielder and pitcher on the Cavs baseball team. He is coming off a 2024 season that saw him hit .305 with 13 homers and 48 RBIs. He has made 97 starts in 99 career games.
Playing both sports at Walsh was never in question.
“That’s been my life ever since I was a little kid,” Hollobaugh said. “I played three sports growing up, and in college I knew I could play both. It’s all I’ve ever done. Sports has always been my life. I knew I could do it and I wanted to do it.”
Which sport does Hollobaugh think he excels at best?
“I always get asked this question, and it’s always the same answer. It’s whatever season it is,” Hollobaugh said. “I like them all. I say I’m equally as good at both of them or I wouldn’t be playing at this level.”
Hollobaugh’s primary goal this fall is to help lead Walsh’s football team to one of its best seasons in years. With a 3-2 record, the Cavs have already matched last year’s win total.
“It shows a lot about the character and the guys in our locker room,” Hollobaugh said. “They want it, and I think we’re going to continue to win and show a lot of good things.”
Want to know the best nutrition and lifestyle changes you can make to lose weight and boost your health? A group of top obesity researchers has identified the six key behaviors that make a difference.
Although many people now are losing weight with new GLP-1 drugs, long-term success still requires lifestyle changes and healthy eating habits. An analysis of the largest and longest clinical trial on diet and weight loss – called the POUNDS Lost trial – found there was widespread variation in how much weight people lost or gained while eating different levels of fat, protein and carbohydrates.
The 811 people who took part in the trial were split into four groups. One was assigned to follow a diet that was low in fat and protein. Another followed a diet that was high in fat and protein. The third group adhered to a diet that was high in fat but low in protein, and the fourth group ate a diet that was low in fat but high in protein. The four groups were assigned to consume varying amounts of carbs, ranging from 35 percent of the calories in their diet all the way up to a diet that was 65 percent carbohydrates. All four diets were low in calories and saturated fat.
The research was conducted by Pennington Biomedical Research Center, the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
At the end of the two-year-long trial, the researchers found that the members of each diet group lost a similar amount of weight, averaging about 6.6 to 8 pounds.
But the researchers found that the overweight and obese adults who lost the most weight during the study had several things in common.
– – –
They ate more protein.
People who significantly increased the amount of protein they ate lost much more weight than people who did not. By the end of the trial, the high-protein consumers had lost an average of 16.5 pounds – triple the amount that people in the lowest protein group lost.
The reasons? Eating more protein is thermogenic. Our bodies spend a lot of calories digesting and absorbing protein compared with fat and carbs. Protein also increases satiety. When you increase your protein intake, you end up consuming less food, said George A. Bray, a co-author of the study and emeritus director of the Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Louisiana.
They consumed more fiber
People who increased their fiber intake the most during the first six months of the study lost roughly 23 pounds – nearly double the amount of weight loss seen in people who added the least amount of fiber to their diets.
Fiber causes food to travel more slowly from your stomach to your intestines, which helps you feel full. It also stimulates the release of appetite-suppressing hormones like GLP-1, the hormone that’s mimicked by Ozempic and Wegovy, the popular diabetes and weight loss drugs.
They cut back on ultra-processed foods
People who consumed the fewest ultra-processed foods lost an average of 18.2 pounds during the study, while those who ate the most ultra-processed foods lost about 11.6 pounds. Previous research has shown that people tend to eat significantly more calories when they’re fed a diet of ultra-processed foods – like cookies, sugary breakfast cereals and soft drinks.
Ultra-processed foods contain additives that can cause people to overeat, and they are less nutritious than fruits and vegetables, grains, beans, and other whole foods.
They embraced variety
The researchers found that people who ate a wider range of nutritious foods lost significantly more weight and had larger reductions in their waistlines and body fat. These participants increased their intake of foods like whole grains, berries, melons and citrus fruits, as well as low-fat milk, yogurt, and dark-green and orange vegetables. The researchers speculated that people who ate a greater variety of healthful foods were better able to stick with their diets because they experienced more enjoyment and fewer feelings of deprivation.
They walked and exercised more
Every person in the study was given a pedometer and encouraged to exercise. The researchers found that the more people increased their daily step counts the more weight and body fat they lost. People who had the largest increases in physical activity maintained their weight loss throughout the two-year trial, while those who had the smallest increases in physical activity ended up regaining lost weight.
They got better sleep
People who struggled with insomnia and other sleep problems had triple the likelihood of failing to lose weight. Previous research has shown that when we lose sleep it can trigger brain and hormonal changes that drive us to crave and overeat junk foods rich in fat and sugar.
The findings from the POUNDS Lost trial demonstrate that these behavioral changes can have powerful effects on your health by sharply reducing your weight, shrinking your waistline and lowering your body fat levels.
The researchers were encouraged when they found that the people who were most successful at losing weight and keeping it off had behaviors in common. Bray said that the relatively straightforward nutrition and lifestyle changes they identified can be implemented by just about anyone and applied to a variety of different diets.
“One of the important points of this paper is that any diet can work for you if you follow it,” he said. “There are a few big things that can help make a difference, like eating more protein and fiber and avoiding ultra-processed foods.”
