Jeremy Clarkson reveals ‘horrific’ lifestyle changes after urgent heart surgery

Jeremy Clarkson has said he hates his ‘horrific’ new lifestyle after a recent health scare.

The former Top Gear presenter, 64, underwent a heart procedure after experiencing a ‘sudden deterioration’ in his health, and was rushed to hospital in an ambulance in recent weeks.

After suffering from worrying symptoms including being ‘clammy’, with a ‘tightness in my chest’, and ‘pins and needles in my left arm’, he had a stent fitted after doctors discovered that one of his arteries was ‘completely blocked’.

Although he is now recovering, Jeremy has made it clear he’s not happy about advice he’s been given to look after himself going forward.

Writing about his ‘extremely urgent surgery’, Jeremy said he wasn’t scared at the time but was now after being told how he ‘must live my life from now on’.

‘Literally, I am not allowed to have fun any more. This is terrifying,’ he said.

‘The worst problem though is diet. To cut my alarmingly high levels of cholesterol, I need to cut out, completely, everything I like eating,’ he explained in his column for The Sun.

‘Bacon, sausages, beef, lamb, pork, butter, chips, proper milk, Cadbury’s fruit and nut bars and the interesting bit in an egg. I’ve had a week now to live in the new regime and it’s horrific. Have you ever tried kale? Well, don’t, because it’s like eating the contents of a AAA battery.’

Then explaining his hatred of Greek yoghurt and almond milk, Jeremy lamented how he has to cut out drinking alcohol and take up exercising.

Jeremy laughed off advice to slow down and take up a hobby (Picture: Ian West/ PA Wire)

‘I’ve always seen this is something you do when travelling from the car to the pub, or from the lunch table to the sitting room. But apparently, when I’ve recovered from the operation, I must do more,’ he wrote.

Being advised by his doctor to slow down and take up a hobby like golf, Jeremy was not impressed, listing all the commitments he has – including ‘writing three newspaper columns a week, owning a brewery, pub and shop and hosting Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, plus running a farm and making a television show about that’.

Reflecting on how he ‘grabbed the gift of live by the scruff of its neck and went berserk’, the presenter said he had no regrets about ‘never saying no to anything that sounded exciting’.

He’s currently filming the next season of Clarkson’s Farm (Picture: Amazon Prime Video)

However, after ‘the Grim Reaper poked his nose around the door’, he decided he did ‘quite fancy living a bit longer’.

Jeremy then said he would like to see his grandchildren grow up, see a few more sunrises and also visit the Galapagos Islands, which he said would be achievable by ‘living on water, steamed fish, and exercise’.

Earlie this week Jeremy thanked followers on social media for their well-wishes and support, but also issued a sharp response about his diet.

Replying to a comment which read ‘Now he seems to have had a heart attack, and needed surgery what does he expect eating all that meat? He can’t be surprised!’ the Clarkson’s Farm star said: ‘Better than dying of vegetable induced boredom.’

Clarkson’s Farm is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

  • 1000 Lb Best Friends’ Vannessa Hopes to Be Approved for Skin Surgery

1000 Lb Best Friends’ Vannessa Hopes to Be Approved for Skin Surgery

1000 Lb. Best Friends star Vannessa Cross is ready to share her weight loss journey during the season 3 premiere and “hopes” to be approved for skin removal surgery.

“Since I’ve lost the weight, I’m physically different, mentally different. I cannot believe I can put my socks on. I reach monumental goals every day that people of regular and average size have lived with every day of their life,” Vannessa, 46, said in a teaser clip TLC shared via Instagram on Sunday, October 20. “I can just stand up and walk, getting out of the bed. I don’t have to have a bedside toilet. I don’t have to wear diapers anymore.”

Vannessa went on to share her love for fitness and detailed how her life is “so different” now that she instilled healthy habits in her daily life.

“My confidence is getting stronger but I do feel way more self-conscious when it comes to all my skins, all my flab, Miss Betsy,” Vannessa said in a confessional, later adding, “I only name Betsy May, I guess that’s kind of sad that the only role that got named was her but she is predominant – everything the way it looks. It’s not sexy. It’s not cute. Let’s keep it 100. It’s very like, I just feel like an old woman because of everything. So, I’m hoping and hoping and hoping to get approved for skin surgery in the next few weeks. I have been maintaining my weight so my legs are rubber right now.”

Under the comments section of the post, one fan admitted that they have “never been more excited to see a stranger get their skin cut off.”

“I literally only watch this show because of her. She’s the only one that has made such a big difference and I’m still surprised that the doctors will not help her get her skin removed,” a second person wrote.

“Bless her heart, she is so small underneath the skin,” a third fan commented. “Good for her for never stopping and if I was a plastic surgeon I would hands down do that work for free for her!”

Although the season has yet to premiere, Vannessa told People that she was approved for skin removal surgery in a story published on October 18.

“Life has changed immensely for me, from being 450 and now I am under 200 lbs. I actually go to the gym. I actually eat extremely healthy foods. I never saw myself living a healthy lifestyle and here I am,” the reality star told the outlet.

Vannessa admitted that she plans to continue to go under the knife to achieve her desired look, including one that will complement her behind.

“I’m a little bit addicted to plastic surgery because my healing was extremely easy and painless. So my next goal is a BBL. I want my Brazilian butt lift,” she continued to the outlet. “You know, white girl, no butt ever in my life. Mommy and daddy didn’t have butt, so I’m going to need my plastic surgeon to give me one of them pretty little round booties.”

  • Bachelor star, 36, was accused of ‘faking her condition’ and ‘left sitting in her own mess’ in an Uber after bowel cancer surgery left her incontinent

Bachelor star, 36, was accused of ‘faking her condition’ and ‘left sitting in her own mess’ in an Uber after bowel cancer surgery left her incontinent

Sophie Edwards has revealed the devastating aftermath of her bowel cancer surgery.

The single mum from Adelaide, who starred on The Bachelor in 2016, was diagnosed with rectal adenocarcinoma – a form of bowel cancer – on June 14, 2022 despite having no family history of the disease and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

The 36-year-old manager was left suffering incontinence and had to wear an adult nappy following her surgical procedure.

That recently led to an accident when she played in the Super Netball Grand Final in August.

When she tried to use a disabled toilet at the venue, a woman questioned Sophie and accused her of faking her condition.

‘She was questioning what was wrong with me, and it just made me feel so awful’ Sophie tells Adelaide Now.

‘She made me feel so small, like I wasn’t a human being’ she added.

‘So I just left. I got into an Uber and sat in my own filth on the way home, just sobbing.’

After that hamulating experience, the former reality star had surgery to inset a sacral nerve stimulator, which has helped her manage her symptoms.

‘I’m never going to be 100 per cent like I was before cancer but this has given me some normality,’ she said.

Sophie thought she had a ‘tummy bug’ – but was diagnosed with stage three bowel cancer after visiting her doctor in 2022.

She told FEMAIL she noticed a change bowel habits 12 weeks before visiting a doctor, and at first physicians were dismissive of her symptoms.

Since then the young mum has been on an emotional rollercoaster and says this time last year she was a ‘completely different person’.

‘I needed the toilet more and more frequently to the point where I started having accidents – which was very embarrassing – then had severe intense pain,’ she said.

‘I was extremely unwell; It prompted me to go see a doctor because I couldn’t eat or drink anything either.’

Because of the pain her mum took her to the closest local GP who unfortunately dismissed her symptoms.

‘The doctor told me to take gastro tablets, but mum advocated for testing,’ Sophie said and completed a stool sample.

Surprisingly blood tests didn’t detect anything sinister.

When she was able to get in touch with her regular doctor who reviewed the tests, ‘microscopic’ amounts of blood were detected in the stools.

Sophie then met with a gastric entomologist for a CT scan that ‘detected something’ but at the time specialists couldn’t determine what it was.

‘It all happened so quickly; it took 10 days from first going to the doctor to being diagnosed,’ she said.

On June 14, 2022, a colonoscopy found the 7cm tumour and confirmed it was cancerous.

‘When you hear the word “cancer” you automatically think you’re going to die. You have no idea what path is going to show up before you,’ she said.

‘I felt completely numb and overwhelmed, and immediately I thought of my seven-year-old son Jaxon.

‘Mum was beside me completely shell shocked and wished it was her going through this and not me.’

It was also ‘torturous’ waiting to confirm if it had spread elsewhere – which it hadn’t.

'She was questioning what was wrong with me, and it just made me feel so awful' Sophie tells Adelaide Now. 'She made me feel so small, like I wasn't a human being' she added. 'So I just left. I got into an Uber and sat in my own filth on the way home, just sobbing'

She dived straight into radiation treatments which were ‘intense’.

‘You don’t feel the effects until you’ve finished and I was taking chemotherapy tablets morning and night too,’ Sophie said.

After 25 rounds of radiotherapy it felt as if ‘acid had been tipped into her abdominal’ and was left in ‘so much pain’.

‘The after effects were awful and horrific, but it had to be done,’ she said.

During a three-week break from treatment Sophie was hospitalised for five days after experiencing ‘severe, unbearable pain’ from her body processing the stress of the treatment.

For this type of cancer Sophie didn’t need surgery.

She said she is also extremely grateful for the wonderful doctors we have in Australia, and estimates Medicare has covered roughly $40,000 in medical fees.

‘I’ve paid around $8,000 out of pocket and wouldn’t have been able to afford the whole medical bill if it wasn’t covered by Medicare,’ she said.
