In a carousel post, Imtiaz gives us a glimpse into the heart of Amritsar’s food scene – Harish Pehalwan’s Dhaba, a spot known for its kulchas. The post includes an image of the preparation process, showing workers rolling out dough and preparing a spicy, aromatic potato filling with a medley of mashed potatoes, onions and traditional spices, ready to be tucked inside the dough. The scene is a perfect reflection of the dedication and expertise required to create this mouthwatering dish.
But it’s the next photo that captures the true essence of the kulcha – a perfectly baked, golden-brown Amritsari kulcha, piping hot and ready to be devoured.

A ride into the heart of professional cycling.
To celebrate this launch, Paris Saint-Germain and La Française des Jeux organised an unprecedented encounter between Luis Enrique, first team manager and avid cycling fan, Stefan Küng and Quentin Pacher, members of the Groupama-FDJ cycling team, as well as their manager, an emblematic figure in French cycling, Marc Madiot. Spanish artist Edgar Plans, a cycling enthusiast who had previously collaborated with the club, added his own unique touch by personalising some bicycles for the occasion. “From there, they fell in love, got married, had a kid and I became a well-known artist and illustrator. I was doing work for the New Yorker, the New York Times, TIME magazine, the Atlantic Monthly, Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly. I was doing 12 to 20 assignments every month.”
They stayed in touch, but Baseman’s “crazy workaholic” lifestyle and the demand for his work in LA and New York meant he never found the time to come over to New Zealand.
Then Beverly was diagnosed with cancer and died in 2005 at the age of 51.
“That was a really busy, odd, interesting time for me and I was dealing with a lot of change and the idea of losing Beverly who was way too young to die kind of broke my heart.”

About 12 years after her death, he finally made it over to New Zealand.
“I saw how beautiful her adopted homeland was and was very inspired by it.
“Craig Potton happens to be the premiere landscape photographer of New Zealand. You can’t go to a bookstore without finding a Craig Potton book. He knows how to capture the beauty of New Zealand, so being able to see it through his eyes.”
He also had a fascination with prehistoric creatures, having grown up near the La Brea Tar Pits in LA which have produced the biggest collection of Ice Age fossils, like Colombian mammoths, saber tooth cats and other creatures of a bygone era.
The story of the moa intrigued him and a body of work was created, resulting in an exhibition called Memento Moa, which has so far been shown at The Suter Art Gallery in Nelson and now at Taupō Museum and Art Gallery.
The Taupō exhibition opened on Friday, September 27, on Baseman’s 64th birthday.
“The moa kind of touched me in a way that this creature didn’t exist any more, like my cousin Beverly, that finding a way for me to understand a bit of New Zealand, mix it with my love for her and find a way to create a body of work … She was way too young. She wasn’t a kid but she still had a full life ahead of her and if you ever met her she was full of life.”
He has created artwork mainly in the form of paintings which draw inspiration from a wide range of influences, including a strong Alice in Wonderland influence, incorporating Beverly as the main character, plus a bit of Andy Warhol, Alfred Hitchcock, Frida Kahlo, Lucille Ball, John Lennon, David Bowie, Louis Armstrong and his own cat Blackie, “who was a giant inspiration to my work and my life”. Blackie died during the Covid-19 pandemic.
His first exhibition in Nelson was delayed three times by the pandemic, which allowed the body of work to mature. He has more than 150 sketch books full of drawings leading up to the final works that appear in the exhibition.
The exhibition also includes an array of stuffed moa, that people can buy. They have Victorian mourning lockets around their necks so people can add a photo of a person or pet they have loved and lost.
“Not only was I going into the bush, seeing the prehistoric plantings and trees and how insanely beautiful everything was, I would go into the museums and learning about the flightless birds of course and then also the moa as an extinct creature that existed here forever, until man showed up and within 200 years, because it was such an easy bird to kill or eat or use all the elements of it, within 200 years it was gone.”
His art also plays off his love of cats and New Zealanders’ love for the environment and the need to protect the flightless birds.
“For me, it’s the irony of it because I am such a very pro cat person but I understand [it] being a predator and so for me that is kind of a play off it.”
The exhibition runs from September 28 to December 9 at the Taupō Museum and Art Gallery.
The Mexican sports world is in mourning following the death of renowned journalist Andre Marin at the age of 52.
Marin had been dealing with a bacterial infection for several years and – after suffering from pneumonia and undergoing a number of hospitalizations – received a double lung transplant earlier this month.
Marin’s death led to tributes from throughout the sports world with nearly every club in Liga MX posting condolences to their social media accounts on Monday when his death was announced.
The journalist’s FOX Sports family aired a tribute to him – featuring a montage of some of his best moments throughout the years on the show ‘La Ultima Palabra’ (The Last Word) – which Marin hosted.
His colleagues at FOX shared their best memories of him with one journalist – Fernando Cevallos – shedding tears at the loss of the host.

Longtime Mexico captain Rafa Marquez tweeted, ‘Sad and regrettable news of the death of a great sports journalist, but who has also been a good friend, rest in peace dear Andre, my condolences to all his family.’
Mexican national team goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa took to Twitter, saying, ‘I deeply lament the death of Andre Marin, and to his family and friends I offer my deepest condolences.’
‘On behalf of TelevisaUnivision, we express our deepest condolences for the death of our dear colleague and close friend André Marín, a distinguished sports journalist,’ the network TUDN said in a statement.
‘His charisma, character and analytical skills quickly made him one of the most beloved and recognized faces in sports journalism in Mexico and around the world,’ TUDN added.
FOX colleague Alberto Lati wrote, ‘Rest in peace, dear André Marín, after so much time fighting to the limit and beyond. To his wife Paty, and to his children, the most affectionate and supportive hug. Passionate about his work like few others, a competitive journalist and tireless polemicist, he leaves behind a huge void.’
A TUDN colleague, David Faitelson, wrote, ‘He was a fighter… He fought until his last breath. Today, for me, neither a valuable reporter nor a legendary journalist has left us. A part of me has gone with André Marín. Rest in peace, André…’

Marin’s colleague, Luis Omar Tapia, shared a heartfelt post about his late friend.
‘I am deeply saddened by the news of the passing of a friend and colleague, André Marín,’ Tapia wrote. ‘I ask his entire family to accept my deepest condolences at this difficult time.
André, against all odds, believed in my work and opened the doors for me in Mexico,’ Tapia continued. ‘I will always be grateful. RIP André Marín.’
Marin was known for his regular appearances on multiple television networks across his career and for his column for the Mexican newspaper Excélsior.

Grieving hockey fans erected a memorial Saturday on the New Jersey corner where an alleged drunk driver claimed the lives of NHL star Johnny Gaudreau and his younger brother Matthew.
A cross crafted from old hockey sticks bearing the names of the brothers and their respective player numbers was plunged into the ground alongside County Route 551 in Oldmans Township, where the duo had been cycling together Thursday evening.
Several other sticks were arranged on the grass peppered between dozens of flower bouquets, balloons and a sign promising that the brothers will be “forever in our hearts.”

Odes to the Gaudreaus’ respective hockey careers were also offered up at the memorial — including two bottles of Gatorade, which served as a nod to Johnny Gaudreau’s tradition of sharing a bottle of the sports drink with his old Calgary Flames teammates after scoring a goal.
They even left behind flowers, hockey sticks and even jerseys front of the home of their surviving family members — who were meant to be celebrating a wedding rather than the loss of both brothers.

Johnny, 31, and Matthew, 29, were biking in their New Jersey hometown when they were struck and killed by a motorist who allegedly told a state trooper he guzzled “five to six” beers” before the crash.
The driver, Sean Higgins, reportedly attempted to pass an SUV in front of him, which had moved into the middle of the roadway to give the brothers plenty of room, just after 8 p.m.

The US Army Major tried to pass the SUV on the right, striking the Gaudreaus from behind. The county road is rural, with crops on either side. There are no shoulders or street lights.
The tragedy struck one day before the Gaudreau brothers were set to take part as groomsmen in their sister Katie’s wedding to hockey player Devin Joyce in Gloucester City, NJ. The family had even celebrated the wedding rehearsal just hours before the tragedy.
Johnny, who played for the Columbus Blue Jackets, leaves behind a wife and two young daughters.
Higgins — who appeared to sigh with exasperation in court upon learning he would be held in jail through next week — faces two counts of vehicular homicide.
