    Why Potlucks?

Potlucks are a game-changer for hosting stress-free gatherings. Imagine a scenario where the entire menu isn’t your sole responsibility. Instead, each guest contributes a dish, transforming the event into a collaborative feast. Potlucks are not just easy to plan; they’re simple to execute and ensure everyone leaves with a satisfied palate.

Napkin should be neatly placed on the side after the meal.

Plan your New Year’s Eve party in advance.

Step-by-Step Guide to the Perfect Potluck Party:

    1. Guest List:

Begin by making a list of all the invitees. It’s crucial to have a clear idea of who will be joining the celebration. Last-minute additions might catch someone off guard, especially when tasked with bringing a dish.

    2. Menu Categories:

Divide the menu into three categories – starters, main course, and desserts. Adjust the number of dishes based on the total number of guests. For example, if you’re inviting 12-15 people, aim for 4 starters, 4 main courses, and 3 desserts.

    3. Guest Assignments:

Now comes the fun part – assigning dishes to each guest. This can be done either through a friendly discussion or by allowing guests to choose their preferred category. This way, everyone feels involved in creating the menu.

    4. Collaborative Dish Selection:

To avoid duplication and ensure a harmonious menu, brainstorm with your guests to finalize the dishes. A variety of cuisines can work well together, so check if there’s a theme emerging. For instance, if the majority leans towards Indian cuisine, you might want to skip the Pasta.

    5. Set-Up Essentials:

Since there’s no singular host, pay attention to details like plates, cutlery, and paper napkins. If necessary, distribute these responsibilities among guests to streamline the process. It’s essential to think ahead and create a seamless setup for everyone.

    6. Cooking Tips:

Remind guests to cook their dishes fresh and on time. To make things even simpler, suggest that those who feel pressed for time can outsource certain ingredients or opt for semi-prepared items. For perfect potluck recipes, click here.

By following these steps, you’re not only ensuring a diverse and delicious spread but also creating an environment where everyone plays a part in making the New Year’s Eve celebration memorable. The collaborative spirit of a potluck takes away the hosting burden, allowing you to relax and enjoy the festivities along with your guests.

So, this New Year’s Eve, let the magic of potlucks redefine your party planning and make it a celebration to remember!

  • Brews And Beyond: Asur Microbrewery Is The Ultimate Destination For Craft Beer Lovers

Brews And Beyond: Asur Microbrewery Is The Ultimate Destination For Craft Beer Lovers

If you are into beers, you’d understand that the rise of microbreweries in India has been nothing short of remarkable. Once considered synonymous with cities like Bangalore, the concept of craft beers has spread across the country, offering beer enthusiasts something unique and local to sip on. Delhi, in particular, has seen a growing love for freshly brewed, artisanal beers. Recently, I visited a newly open spot in the city – Asur: Microbrewery & Kitchen – based in Moti Nagar.

My visit started with a quick tour of the brewing area. Massive stainless-steel tanks stood in the space, where the team worked on everything – from brewing to fermentation. It was fascinating to see the ingredients that go into the preparation of beers, various malts like Wheat Pale, Vienna, Caraaroma, etc. and even hops like Mosaic, Willamette, Colombus, Saaz, etc. Each of these ingredients played a key role in the beer’s character – be it sweetness, bitterness, or aroma.

    Photo: Asur Microbrewery.

Once the tour wrapped up, I was ready to try their beers. Their craft beer menu has six different options – each with its own charm. First up, there is Scotch Ale: Smooth and lightly smoky with hints of caramel sweetness. Perfect for those who prefer easygoing beers. This was followed by IPA (New England): Hop-forward with juicy tropical flavours, this one’s for people who love bold, punchy beers. There Marzen is a crisp and refreshing German-style lager, which is simple yet perfectly balanced.

Then came Stout – with its rich and creamy flavours of coffee and chocolate – this drink is smooth and indulgent, almost like dessert. The last two are Witbier and X-Tra Strong Lager. The former is a light, citrusy, and refreshing drink with hints of orange peel, while the latter is bold, malty, and packs a punch for those who enjoy a stronger kick.

Personally, fruity and citrusy tones are my preference, so I liked Witbier the most.

After having a hearty round of beers, we jumped right to the food menu. I started with a variety of starters that perfectly set the tone for the meal. Ordering first thing on the table, I started with the classic Chilli Chicken, which was spicy, tangy, and had just the right amount of heat.

Next up, I craved seafood, and what better way to sate it than by ordering the delicious and succulent Amritsari Fish? It was crisp on the outside and tender on the inside – a perfect burst of flavours and textures. Butter Garlic Prawns, with their juicy and buttery goodness, definitely steal the show. Even the dahi ke kebab was the perfect accompaniment to this group of dishes.

To wash down the starters, I sipped on two drinks – Mr Banarasiya and Bloody Alloy. The first one had a refreshing punch with flavours that reminded me of classic Banarasi notes, while the latter was bold and unique, and had a beautiful orange colour.

For the main course, I indulged in Butter Chicken and Naan, a combination I can never say no to. The butter chicken was rich, creamy, and had just the right balance of sweetness and spice. Paired with soft naan, it was comfort food at its best. To wrap up my experience, I dug into two desserts – a New York Cheesecake topped with raspberry sauce. And the irresistible Chocolate Mud Cake. Dense, rich and oh-so-gooey, it was every chocolate lover’s dream.

All-in-all, my experience at Asur Microbrewery was memorable. I can’t wait to go back for another round of deliciousness!

What Not To Pair With Fruits

Not all pairings are a match made in heaven. Ayurvedic health coach Dimple Jangda advises against combining fruits with proteins and carbs. Why? Fruits digest quickly, while proteins and carbs take their time. Mixing the two can slow digestion, causing bloating and acidity. Stick to nuts for the perfect pairing, and you’re good to go!

  • World Athletics sticks with Infront for Ultimate Championship media rights

World Athletics sticks with Infront for Ultimate Championship media rights

Sports marketing heavyweight Infront has become the international media rights sales partner for the lucrative World Athletics Ultimate Championship which will debut in two years’ time.

Infront will be in charge of securing a worldwide broadcast portfolio for the inaugural edition of that event, set to take place in Budapest, Hungary, across September 11 to 13, 2026.

Sportcal (GlobalData Sport) understands there were six bidders for these rights, with Infront one of two to be shortlisted.

This tie-up comes as an addition to the existing multi-faceted relationship between Infront and World Athletics – the agency already handles international media rights sales for the top-tier Diamond League, and the Continental Tour Gold and Indoor Tour Gold.

In addition, the Host Broadcast Services (HBS) wholly-owned subsidiary of Infront has been appointed in that capacity for the Budapest event, with Tata Communications in as the host broadcaster itself.

That builds on the five-year deal unveiled in June between Tata and World Athletics, through which Tata Communications will provide events across the World Athletics calendar with bespoke coverage and broadcast content which it will deliver across continents.

Jon Ridgeon, chief executive at World Athletics, has said: “The Ultimate Championship is also a chance for us to really innovate how we deliver our sport, presenting it in new formats and across different platforms which are specifically designed to keep the entire venue engaged, ensuring constant, fast-paced excitement.”

The World Athletics Ultimate Championship – unveiled in early June – will debut in 2026 as a climax to the track and field season, and then take place every two years.

It will pit world champions, Olympic champions, Diamond League winners, and the year’s best-performing athletes against each other, to crown an ultimate champion.

The $10 million prize money is the largest ever offered in the history of track and field athletics. All athletes competing at the championship will be financially rewarded and the winners will receive $150,000 each.

The three-day global championship event will feature eight to 16 of the world’s top-ranked athletes per discipline competing in a new compact format for athletics, with each evening session including semi-finals and finals for track disciplines, and straight finals for field disciplines.

The Ultimate Championship will feature several track disciplines, including sprints, middle and long-distance races, relays, jumps, and throws, with athletes representing their national teams.

  • Mixed 4x100m relay is set to take place at a major event for the first time at the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship

Mixed 4x100m relay is set to take place at a major event for the first time at the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship

Men and women will race in the same 100 metres relay at a major event for the first time at the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship.

A mixed 4x100m relay – which could see British record holders Dina Asher-Smith and Zharnel Hughes team up – has been included in the streamlined schedule for the new biennial global competition in 2026.

However, a number of traditional disciplines have been omitted from the programme for the big-money meet in Budapest, including heptathlon, meaning Britain’s world champion Katarina Johnson-Thompson will not have the chance to compete for a record $150,000 (£119,000).

The Ultimate Championship – which was first announced in June – has been created to ensure each athletics season concludes with a global event. It will be held every even year, with the existing World Championships continuing in the odd years.

The introduction of a mixed 4x100m relay – which will be trialled during next year’s Diamond League – follows the success of the mixed 4x400m relay, which has featured in the last two Olympics.

‘The mixed 4x100m relay is just one example of how we want to do this event differently,’ World Athletics chief executive Jon Ridgeon told Mail Sport in Budapest. ‘We think it will be a great success because the mixed 4x400m has been great fun.

A mixed 100m relay will be included at the 2026 World Athletics Ultimate Championship

‘We are still working out the exact format. Over the next few months, we will test the permutations of who hands over to who. But I almost hope that it is going to be a free for all because that will be most exciting.’

The inaugural Ultimate Championship will be held over three nights at the National Athletics Stadium in Budapest in September 2026, with each session lasting no more than three hours to suit TV.

The limited timeframe means a number of disciplines have been cut, including multi-events heptathlon and decathlon, track races the 10,000m and 3,000m steeplechase, plus field events the discus and shot put.

‘Of course there will be athletes who are disappointed,’ said Ridgeon. ‘But if you are going to create a new product, you have to decide on the philosophy of that product, and all the advice we got is it needs to be fast-moving and time limited, so there sadly isn’t time to do a heptathlon or decathlon.

‘The whole look, brand and feeling of the event will be unique in terms of what we have done before. We are very aware that this event can’t just be an Olympics or World Championships-lite.

‘It is a matter of trying to piece together the timetable and see how the different bits work together for optimal excitement and drama in the evening.

‘But no athlete should get the impression that any event is being phased out or not loved by World Athletics. This is only for 2026 and we will assess again in 2028 and it may well be a different roster of disciplines.’

Just 16 athletes will be invited to compete at the Ultimate Championship in each track event, which will start at the semi-final stage, along with the eight competitors in each field discipline, which will only have a final.

But Olympic hero Katarina Johnson-Thompson will miss out with heptathlon not on the bill

Discus will also not feature as organisers look to trim down events for the biennial competition

Discus will also not feature as organisers look to trim down events for the biennial competition

Athletes will qualify via world rankings – although there will be wildcards for defending Olympic, world or Diamond League champions – and there will be no cap on the number of competitors per nation. ‘The core philosophy of the event is it’s the best of the best,’ said Ridgeon.

The overall prize pot is a record $10million (£7.94m), with the $150,000 on offer for each winner more than double the $70,000 earned by gold medallists at the last World Championships.

‘We are always looking to increase the money that goes to the athletes,’ said Ridgeon. ‘We want to make sure that being a professional athlete is a sustainable, lucrative life.’

It is hoped the BBC will broadcast the Ultimate Championship, just like they do the World Championships and Olympics.

‘This is not about maximising the income and putting it behind a paywall, this is about making sure the maximum number of eyeballs around the world can see it,’ said Ridgeon. ‘A lot of the broadcasters who currently show the Olympics and World Championships will be our natural partners for this event.’

The 2026 competition could also be the first time that the long jump uses a take-off zone rather than a take-off board, despite athletes heavily criticising the proposed change to the historic discipline when it was first muted at the start of the year.

‘The take-off zone is one of the things that we continue to test,’ said Ridgeon. ‘If it tests well, that is the sort of thing that could be introduced at 2026 or at a later date. But it has to test well and be accepted by the sport.’

Ridgeon revealed that World Athletics are also trialling the 200m hurdles as an event, something which last featured at an Olympics in 1904.

‘From our research, we know the hurdles are popular,’ he said. ‘It’s an event that could bring together sprint hurdlers and 400m hurdles which is quite interesting. These are the sort of things we are testing.’

200m hurdles is also set to be trialled, despite the distance not featuring in the Olympics since 1904

200m hurdles is also set to be trialled, despite the distance not featuring in the Olympics since 1904

Meanwhile, Ridgeon insists World Athletics are not threatened by Michael Johnson’s new big-money series, Grand Slam Track.

Johnson’s league launches next year, with four three-day meets between April and June and prize money of $100,000 for the winners of each category. Brits Josh Kerr, Matthew Hudson-Smith and Daryll Neita are among the stars to have signed up.

The second Grand Slam Track event in Miami in May clashes with the second Diamond League – World Athletics’ top-tier series – meet in China.

But Ridgeon added: ‘It is not a rival to anything we do. Our view is that we encourage new money and new opportunity into the sport.

‘We take it as a sign that the sport is in pretty good shape if new investors are looking to come in and add value. All we ask for is new organisers to work with us to make sure dates work as far as they can.’

  • Best Tactics For 4-4-2 Formation in EA Sports FC 25 Ultimate Team

Best Tactics For 4-4-2 Formation in EA Sports FC 25 Ultimate Team

    Key Takeaways

    • The 4-4-2 formation is traditional & balanced, dominating every area of the pitch.
    • Using ‘short passes’ in the build-up and a ‘balanced’ defensive approach defensively is optimal.
    • Player roles can be tweaked every match to suit your needs.

EA Sports FC 25 is one of the most tactical games in the world. The EA community is immensely competitive, and there is a desperate urge to win every single match, especially on Ultimate Team. Due to this, tactics and formations are crucial, often acting as the difference between disappointment and jubilation.

One of the most well-known formations in the world is the 4-4-2. Seen as the most traditional and historic formation in the sport, it provides balance and security whilst also offering support in the final third. It’s symmetrical, allowing you to dominate every area of the pitch with the right players.

In EAFC 25, it is one of the best formations in the game — and we have decided to outline the best tactics and roles to use with the formation. It might prove to be the difference between winning the ‘clutch’ Champions matches and walking away with disappointment.

    Related

Best Tactics For 4-2-3-1 Formation in EA Sports FC 25 Ultimate Team

As one of the most popular tactics in EA franchise history, the 4-2-3-1 is just as overpowered in EAFC 25. We have outlined the best tactics for it.

    Tactics

‘Short Passes’ to keep possession is key

Son and Can with the EAFC 25 logo

    • Build-Up Style: Short Passes
    • Defensive Approach: Balanced

Tactics have fundamentally changed in EAFC 25, meaning the days of deciding your width and ‘players in the box’ are gone. Instead, this section is massively simplified — and you are now given the chance to change two things, build-up style and defensive approach.

In EAFC 25, there are three options for your build-up style – ‘balanced’, ‘counter’ and ‘short passes’. For the 4-4-2, which is so focused on having possession, using ‘short passes’ will work the best. In this system, your players will always come short for the ball, supporting the ball carrier rather than making bold forward runs. This means you can recycle possession consistently and keep in shape longer.

Alongside this, your defensive approach is crucial. Using the ‘balanced’ approach would mean that your defence is flexible and can either drop deep if required or push forward if you are searching for the winner. With the best defenders in the world, you will be able to clear the danger effortlessly, whilst using a defensive height line of 60–70 means you will never be caught out by an opposition counter-attack. Go any higher and you get into Ange Postecoglou territory, which can lead to conceding countless opportunities.

    Player Roles

They can be tweaked every match

    4-4-2

The most important thing when tweaking is player roles. In EAFC 25, you now have to consider how every single role changes a player’s position in possession, but also out of it. It’s important to consistently fine-tune your ideas so that you can perform at the highest level consistently. We have outlined our favourite 4-4-2 tactics below.

Best Tactics For 4-3-3 (4) Formation in EA Sports FC 25 Ultimate Team

The best 4-3-3 (4) tactics for EA Sports FC 25 Ultimate Team may be the difference between success and failure.

    Defensive Player Roles

Firstly, while other positions can be bold and creative, that’s not the case for goalkeepers. They’re consistently seen as the ‘safe’ players, always looking to act as the last form in defence. This means that using the traditional ‘goalkeeper’ and ‘defend’ roles makes the most sense. They will always stay between the sticks unless they are called upon at the last minute. Naturally, you can change it up and use a ‘sweeper goalkeeper’, but it feels like an unnecessary risk.

Whilst most tactics continue the sense of familiarity with the centre-backs, we are recommending a slightly unconventional route for the 4-4-2. Your two centre-backs should be ‘ball-playing defenders’ on ‘defend’ to maximise your ability to progress the ball. Combining their defensive solidity with their passing ability, they are comfortable playing the opposition offside, whilst also moving wider to support build-up play. When set to defend, the ball-playing defender will step up slightly to support teammates during possession.

Despite being symmetrical, the beauty of the 4-4-2 is that it can change easily, as highlighted by the full-backs. With this, the left-back can be on ‘wing-back’ and ‘defend’. This sees them combine their defensive duties with offensive support, offering width and energy at both ends of the pitch. This is only possible for versatile and high-stamina players, as they have to push upfield to support attacks. The license to push forward is what makes them like an extra attacker.

On the other flank, the right-back should be on ‘full-back’ and ‘balanced’. This is slightly more defensive, as they look to solidify your defence. They are seen as a wide defender who will prioritise protecting their own goal, by standing back, holding the defensive line, and offering a passing option to release pressure. They can be granted to move forward slightly, but the priority is always in the defensive third.

    Midfield Player Roles

In a 4-4-2, it’s important to have control in the middle of the park. Despite having just two stars, it’s still possible, with a ‘box-to-box’ midfielder on ‘defend’ providing the most support. This sees them excel at both ends of the pitch, contributing to both the defence and the attack with tireless energy. Shining as neither the last line of defence, nor the final part of the attack, but involved in everything in between, they are crucial.

Alongside them, a ‘deep-lying playmaker’ on ‘defend’ provides an attacking outlet from the middle of the park. They control the tempo of the match and act as the key cog to building up play from the back. They also focus on closing down passing lanes and staying back while their team attacks, meaning you never quite lose control of the match.

On either flank, you should use one as a ‘winger’ on ‘balanced’ and another as an ‘inside forward’ on ‘balanced’. This provides a sense of unexpectedness, with the opposition never knowing what to do. The ‘winger’ will stretch the defence and deliver dangerous crosses using their pace and agility. They hug the touchline, offering support on the flanks in all phases of play.

Meanwhile, the ‘inside forward’ does the opposite. They drift inside from the wings to become a goal-scoring threat, adding variety to your opposition. They regularly cut onto their preferred foot and look to run in behind. Naturally, they offer minimal defensive support, but that’s an issue for the three other midfielders, not the ‘inside forward’.

    Attacking Player Roles

Finishing off the 4-4-2, the system uses two attackers. One is an ‘advanced forward’ on ‘attack’, whilst another is a ‘false nine’ on ‘build-up’. The advanced forward focuses on scoring and positioning to outmanoeuvre defenders. While their main responsibility is scoring, they are also versatile, staying close to the opposition’s defensive line, but also opening themselves up for passes in the build-up, and making runs in behind for scoring chances. It means you always have someone to target in the final third.

Meanwhile, the ‘false nine’ creates space and confuses defenders, dropping deep to draw defenders out of position and link midfield to attack. This also allows them to contribute towards the defensive phases of the game. It provides balance to the team, knowing the gaps are always filled.

Best Tactics For 4-1-2-1-2 Narrow in EA Sports FC 25 Ultimate Team

The 4-1-2-1-2 narrow lacks width, but it’s midfield dominance can make it one of the best formations in EA Sports FC 25 Ultimate Team.

    Players to Use

    Meta players everywhere

We have already ranked the most meta players in EA Sports FC 25, alongside specifically focusing on the most overpowered centre-backs and best ‘cheap beast’ wingers. Those quickly show that there are countless players available to perfectly fit the 4-4-2.

In attack, you need players with pace and versatility. Thankfully, budget-friendly options Ademola Lookman and Inaki Williams are exactly that. The strikers, who play for Atalanta and Athletic Bilbao respectively, have impressive pace and a natural eye for goal in the final third. They are also used to playing elsewhere in the final, so – if they are ever needed to link up play – they will be able to do exactly that.

Slightly deeper, you need robust and impressive midfielders in the middle of the park, which could come in the form of Atletico Madrid star Marcos Llorente and Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga. They are well-suited to every situation in the middle of the park, especially with their pace and power.

Defensively, any centre-back with pace will be a talented prospect. This includes Josko Gvardiol, Manuel Akanji and Micky van de Ven, who can all act as the perfect centre-backs. Due to their pace, they will never be caught chasing with little hope, providing versatility to your deep defensive line. Gvardiol can even play at left-back, which might be perfect considering they can tuck in when you have the ball.

Diwali Detox 2024: The Ultimate 10-Day Reboot And Detox Diet Plan Before Diwali

With the biggest festival of the year just around the corner, we all want to look and feel our best. However, after two weeks of indulgence and broken weight-loss promises, how do we achieve this? You’ve likely come across various dos and don’ts for a healthy lifestyle, which can lead to a glowing you, both inside and out. So, let’s embark on a 10-day journey to help you look and feel amazing this festive season with a detox and reboot plan tailored to most of us.
A detox diet typically involves a routine designed to reset your system to how it was before the binge period. The goal here is to flush out all the toxins accumulated recently, helping you feel fresh and invigorated. After all, you not only want to look your best during the bustling holiday season, but you also want to feel energetic as you move from one party to another.

With this in mind, here is a 10-day customized detox plan to help you feel refreshed before Diwali 2024, which will be celebrated on October 31, 2024.

Diwali Detox 2024: 3 Steps To Reboot And Detox Plan Before Diwali

Step 1 – Clean Out The Kitchen

For the next 10 days, it’s time to say goodbye to all those convenience foods and say hello to fresh eats made from real ingredients. That means all those ready-to-eat and ready-to-cook meals are out! You’re also ditching sugar and table salt-yep, they’re going bye-bye, too. Refined cereals, like white flour, are on the no-go list, so keep those away! No white rice or breads, and pasta made from white flour? Forget about it! Processed foods are a no-show, so no jams, bakery goodies like biscuits, cakes, mathri, margarine, or even peanut butter! And don’t even think about reaching for beverages like coffee, tea, alcohol, flavoured drinks, or soft drinks. Time to clear the fridge and get fresh!

Diwali 2020: Over the next 10 days, eat only fresh food made with fresh ingredients.

Step 2 – Get In The Mood

Sprouted whole grains, sprouted moong and legumes are easily done. All fresh vegetables, including potatoes and fruits, will be part of our diet. Stock up on almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds, chia seeds, sesame and flax seeds. Also get used to consuming healthier whole grains like barley, oats, buckwheat, brown rice and other millets. Dried Fruits are also allowed. Sea salt or sendha namak will be a good change as will honey and gur for salt and sugar respectively. Tofu, soy milk, goat cheese and fresh cheese to replace normal paneer and cheese. If you can replace regular dairy milk with fresh milk from an organic farm it would be amazing. Tea and coffee would be replaced by herbal teas/ green tea without milk and sugar.

    Step 3 – Let’s Do This!

I have divided the plan into two weeks. Week 1 is strict, and I encourage you to adhere to it as closely as possible. This week is more challenging but will maximize the benefits of the detox plan. During Week 2, you can gradually reintroduce some of your favourite foods into your diet.
Additionally, I’ve included a 2-day eating plan to help you ease into the 2-week diet. The goal is to avoid shocking your system and to increase your chances of successfully completing the plan. Let’s get started!

    Day 1 Eating Plan

Only fruits. Let the body rest and get started on this 10-day detox. Flavour your fruits with sendha namak, roasted and ground cumin and lemon juice for a chaat. Eat as much as you wish.

    Day 2 Eating Plan

Start the day with a medium-boiled potato and a tablespoon of butter. Spend the day eating only vegetables cooked with less oil and lots of fresh spices like ginger, garlic and tomatoes. Fresh vegetable juices or soups can also be a meal, just make sure you blend and not sieve.
Now, that we have had a break from normal, let’s eat food for the next two weeks.

The Ultimate Detox Plan For Diwali 20204 | 10-Day Healthy Detox To Help You Sparkle

    Week 1: Diwali Detox 2020

Each day you will eat three meals at the same time daily and one snack. The last meal will be over by 9 pm. Each day you will consume 35ml/kg body weight of water. So, if you are 50 kg then you will drink 50*35= 1.750 ml of water or you can round it off to 2 litres. This will be ideally at room temperature and an in-between meal companion. Portion sizes must be kept to moderate. Use minimum amounts of cooking oil. You can use pure ghee and butter too, but avoid the low-fat versions of butter available in the markets.

How to Start Your Day On The Detox | Early Morning Drink For Detox

You will have to stay away from boiled tea and coffee for these 10 days. It may be tough in the beginning but it would really give your body the head start it needs for the rest of the day. There are many options for you here, pick any – start your day with a green tea, any herbal infusion of your choice, fresh lemon water, kacchi haldi water (soaked overnight), tulsi water (2-minute boil), zeera water (soaked overnight) or methi dana water (soaked overnight).

Week 1 Breakfast on the Diwali Detox | Breakfast Diet Plan for Diwali 2024

You must eat within 2 hours of getting up. Here are some healthy breakfast options:

    1. Fresh Old-Fashioned Oats: Cook about 30 grams of oats with soy milk or organic milk, then top with fresh fruits and walnuts. This breakfast is rich in fibre, antioxidants from the fruits, calcium, and protein from the milk.

    2. Nut and Seed Mix with Fruit and Rye Bread: Mix 45 grams of almonds, seeds, and walnuts with an apple and one slice of 70% rye bread. You can soak the nuts and seeds, make a paste in the morning, and use it as a spread on toast or on the apple. This breakfast provides healthy fats along with proteins, polyphenols, pectin, and fibre.

    3. Fruit Smoothie with Homemade Yogurt (Dahi): A medium-sized glass of this smoothie can be quite filling. Avoid adding sugar; instead, use a small amount of honey for sweetness. This option is rich in probiotics, fibre, protein, and calcium.

    4. Ragi Idli with Coconut Chutney: Enjoy two medium-sized ragi idlis with coconut chutney. This gluten-free option is packed with fibre and folates and is easy to digest.

    5. Buckwheat Cheela with Mint Chutney: This dish provides fibre, iron and beta carotene, and is also rich in Vitamin C.

    6. Moong Sprouts with Pomegranate: Delight in this protein and antioxidant-rich breakfast that also includes prebiotics and probiotics.

These options are not only nutritious but also delicious!

Week 1 Lunch on the Diwali Detox | Lunch Diet Plan For Diwali 2024

Lunch is when our digestion is at its best. The way forward here is to get in as much colour as possible while getting adequate proteins and other nutrients too.

    1. Quinoa Salad: About 30 gm salad with rocket leaves and cherry tomato and some chhaas to drink along. Use an olive oil and vinegar/lemon dressing.
    2. Brown rice and rajma with kachumber salad: Very Indian and extremely nourishing. Cook with minimum oil and use lots of tomatoes. Don’t forget the green chillies in your salad.
    3. Ghiya raita with grilled potato and peanut tikka: Light and easy to eat, you could also do a ghiya, aloo and roasted peanut raita.
    4. Kuttu/Singhara roti with soy paneer and mint chutney rolls: Nothing like rolls to make the taste buds dance. Lots of fibre, vitamin C, Iron and of course protein and calcium.
    5. Bell pepper salad: Mix a few yellow and red bell peppers with steamed corn, fresh mozzarella and feta cheese to create a vibrant salad. Dress this up with apple cider vinegar (ACV). How wonderfully colourful and therefore rich in antioxidant polyphenols!
    6. Buckwheat pasta: Saute vegetables with buckwheat pasta and goat cheese. The Italian job that is healthy to boot!
    7. Chickpeas with oats atta roti and cucumber salad: Good old undervalued chana, a treasure trove of phosphorus, heart-healthy fibre and proteins.

Week 1 Dinner on the Diwali Detox | Dinner Diet Plan For Diwali 2024

Dinner should be your lightest meal and as early as possible.

    1. Wholemeal soup with fresh vegetables and lentils: Add your favourite veggies and create a wholesome, hearty meal in a bowl. Do not use store-bought stock cubes to make the soup.
    2. Dahi chawal with a twist: Dahi and brown rice with a curry patta and rai tadka
    3. Stir fry veggies with Tofu
    4. Barley pearls upma with green peas, grilled tomato with herbs and cheese
    5. Baked potato jackets stuffed with mozzarella cheese and spinach
    6. Paneer tikka with lots of grilled vegetables

It’s important to practice portion control during dinner as well. You might feel tempted to eat a little extra, but a few days of being strict with yourself will be beneficial. Not only will the urge to overeat at night gradually diminish, but you’ll also feel more refreshed the next morning.
On day 8, I recommend fasting for the day. Stick to fresh juices, diluted lassi, and coconut water. However, if you find yourself very hungry by dinner time, you can choose one of the dinner options from Week 1 and eat it in moderation—ideally at least 2-3 hours before bedtime.

Week 2 Eating Plan For Diwali Detox

This week, you will continue to follow all the rules but start incorporating vegetables and proteins of your choice.
Non-vegetarians can substitute the protein with eggs, chicken breast, or fish. You can now switch from soy milk to regular skimmed milk, and if you prefer, you can use regular paneer instead of soy paneer or tofu.
If you feel like a snack at 5 PM, consider one of these options, but ensure that you limit yourself to 20-30 grams. You’ve worked hard all of last week, so don’t give up now!

    htl25c88

Diwali 2024: Follow all the rules but start introducing vegetables and proteins of your choice.

    Snack at 5 pm:

    • Nuts and seeds
    • Fruits
    • Bhuna chana
    • Murmura
    • Fat-free fresh popcorn
    • A piece of cheese on a whole-grain cracker
    • Half an apple with 15g of mozzarella

    Important Tips During The Detox:

    • Exercise daily. Work out a 20-30 minute regimen with pranayama, gentle stretching exercises and a warm-up routine. For those of you who do not exercise this will be a good way to start. Those of you who exercise long hours, or tough sessions, could enjoy the gentler routine of stretching and breathing.

    • 6 to 7 hours of sleep is another cog in your cycle of rejuvenation, so pack up the tablets, and computers and switch off your phones. Early to bed and early to rise is your goal these 10 days. Get a lot of me time, go for a massage, get a manicure/pedicure, get pampered.

    • With a regularized regimen, you will first see the change in your skin, which will look and feel healthy. The hair, with all the nourishment from seeds, vegetables, fruits and fresh ingredients will spring back to life.

    • Another thing you need to do is feel what is happening to your body, make a conscious connection and listen to your body’s rhythm. This is just a start, with consistency you can convert this to a healthy lifestyle which is the best SIP for life.

    Happy Diwali 2024, Everyone!
