As Hurricane Helene was spawning in the Caribbean, preparing to wreak havoc on the Southeast in the coming days, the Hampton County High School Hurricanes had their undefeated football season wrecked by the Hilton Head Seahawks last Friday.
The now 4-1 Hurricanes fell 35-14 to the 4-1 Seahawks on the road Sept. 20.
Hilton Head jumped out to 21-0 lead at the half and matched Hampton County touchdown for touchdown in the second half to earn the win.







Beaufort and Jasper County varsity football scores
Beaufort and Jasper County high schools continued their seasons into week four of the football season.
Beaufort High School faced Battery Creek on the road Sept. 20 and defeated the Dolphins 34-17.
Bluffton High School faced Lucy Beckham High School at home Sept. 20 and won 31-17.
May River High School faced Georgetown on the road Sept. 27 and won 35-13.
Hardeeville Junior and Senior High School lost to Lee Central 42-7 on the road Sept. 20.
John Paul II Cross Country Boys and Girls Meet Results
Some of the Warriors team members recently traveled to Wilson Hall to compete, while the rest of the team traveled to Burton Wells.
Wilson Hall Results:
The Girls and Boy’s teams placed 1st and 2nd respectively.
Five boys finished in the top 20, receiving medals: Sebastian Frickel (1st), Blake Hubik (7), Brayden Frickel (12th), Matthew Yanachik (13th), and Jimmy Hook (15th).
John Paul II had four girls place in the top 20, including Ayla Reynolds (1st), Abby Brock (6th), Ella Asbrey (16th), Trice McClure (17th).
Burton Wells Results:
The middle school and high school Warriors cross country team members recently competed in Beaufort. Two Middle schoop athletes stepped up to compete in the 5k race, Cameron O’Rourke and Lawson Adams.
John Paul II volleyball results
The John Paul II Varsity Volleyball team recently welcomed region opponent Wilson Hall for their second meeting of the season. The first meeting at Wilson Hall was a 5-set come from behind victory for the Warriors.
In the most recent meet, the Warriors took care of business in straight sets winning 3-0 – 25-21, 25-19, 25-10. Lily Termini, Camryn Michael and Lauren Majorkiewicz ruled the net with 8,7 and 6 kills respectively on the night and JoJo Hill added 22 assists. The girls had 13 aces on the night with Sammy Beadon with 5 and JoJo Hill with 4. Defensively the duo of Caylin Gecy and Lili Lutheran proved to be too tough for the Barons.

The Lady Tennis Warriors defeated region opponent Laurence Manning Academy Sept. 24 at Oldfield with a match score of 7-2. The Warriors region record is now 5-1, and the season record is 9-3.
