With the 2024 Paris Olympic Games behind us, what’s next for the U.S. Olympic swimmers who earned medals? Many have returned to campus as the NCAA season kicks off. These athletes will be competing once again, this time in short course yards.

Jack Alexy will be swimming as a senior for the University of California, Berkeley, this season. He helped Cal secure its second consecutive NCAA Championship title in 2023. He was also a national champion in the 4×200 freestyle relay in 2024.
Originally from New Jersey, Alexy won a gold medal in the 4×100 freestyle relay and a silver medal in the 4×100 medley relay at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
2.Chris Guiliano

Chris Guiliano is from Pennsylvania and swam for Notre Dame for the past three seasons. He holds numerous school records, including in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle, in both yards and meters. He also holds the school record for all five relays.
With the program being suspended for a minimum of one academic year following an investigation into gambling and the team’s culture, there is a possibility that Guiliano might transfer.
Guiliano is the first male swimmer from the program to qualify for the Olympics. He won gold in the 4×100 freestyle relay and silver in the 4×200 freestyle relay at the Paris Games. Sports Illustrated reported that he is believed not to have been involved in the gambling and misconduct.
3.Luke Hobson

Luke Hobson, now a senior, swam for the University of Texas for the past three seasons. He is a five-time national champion, having won titles in the 200 freestyle in 2023 and 2024, the 500 freestyle in 2023 and the 4×200 freestyle relay in 2022 and 2023.
Hobson, who is from Nevada, holds the school records for the 200 freestyle, 500 freestyle and the 4×200 freestyle relay. In Paris, he won silver in the 4×200 freestyle relay and bronze in the 200 freestyle.
4.Matt King

In 2019, Matt King originally committed to Indiana University but ended up swimming for Alabama his freshman year, where he became the 2021 SEC Champion in the 100 freestyle.
He then transferred to the University of Virginia, where he helped the 4×50 freestyle relay break an American record at the ACC Championship. King holds the school records for the 4×50 freestyle relay and the 4×100 freestyle relay.
For the 2024-2025 season, King will be swimming for Indiana University. In Paris, he earned gold in the 4×100 freestyle relay. He is from Washington.

Last season, as a freshman, Erin Gemmell swam for the University of Texas, where she was a Big XII Conference Champion in the 100 freestyle, 500 freestyle, 4×100 freestyle relay and 4×200 freestyle relay.
She will be competing for the Longhorns again this year. Gemmell earned a silver medal in the 4×200 freestyle relay in Paris. She is from Maryland.
2.Torri Huske

Torri Huske swam for Stanford during her freshman and sophomore seasons. As a freshman, she was a national champion in the 4×200 freestyle relay. She is from Virginia.
She was an Olympic redshirt last year to prepare for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Huske holds the Stanford records for the 100 butterfly and the 200 IM. She will be returning for the 2024-2025 season.
Huske earned five medals at the Paris Games, including three gold and two silver. She won gold in the 100 butterfly and the 4×100 medley relay, both the mixed relay and the women’s relay. She secured silver in the 100 freestyle and the 4×100 freestyle relay.
3.Anna Peplowski

Anna Peplowski, who is from Indiana, has been swimming for Indiana University Bloomington for three seasons. She was a Big Ten Conference Champion in 2023 in the 200 backstroke and 200 freestyle. In 2024, she captured the Championship title again in the 200 freestyle. She holds the school records in the 200 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 4×50 freestyle relay, 4×100 freestyle relay and 4×200 freestyle relay.
She will be competing for the Hoosiers again this season. Peplowski earned a silver medal in Paris in the 4×200 freestyle relay.
4.Gretchen Walsh

Gretchen Walsh is from Tennessee. She swims for the University of Virginia where she will be a senior this season. She has been an NCAA Champion eighteen times and holds team records in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 100 butterfly and all five relays.
In Paris, Walsh secured two gold medals and two silver medals. Her gold medals were in the 4×100 medley relay (both women’s and mixed), and her silver medals were in the 100 butterfly and the 4×100 freestyle relay.
5.Emma Weber

Emma Weber will also be swimming for the University of Virginia, where she holds one of the top ten fastest times in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke in program history. She has been competing there since 2022.
She earned third place in the 100 breaststroke at the 2024 ACC Championships. Weber, who is from Colorado, won a gold medal in the women’s 4×100 medley relay at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
6.Emma Weyant

Emma Weyant spent her freshman year at the University of Virginia, where she won the 500 freestyle at the ACC Championship. The following year, she transferred to the University of Florida to swim for the Gators and will continue with them this season as a senior.
Weyant was a 2024 NCAA Champion in the 4×200 freestyle relay. Individually, her times in the 500 freestyle, the mile and the 400 IM are all among the top ten fastest in Florida’s program history.
Originally from Florida, Weyant won a bronze medal in the 400 IM at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
